Petunia closed her eyes for the last time in a hospital. Alone. Her son had been 'too busy' to visit her for some time. Her precious son. Duddly. He'd not come to see her in the home she was in for a long time, too, before she was in the hospital.

Petunia was old. very old. And alone. After Vernon died and before Duddly had put her in an old folks home, it was so very quiet in her house. The quiet gave her room to think. And when you're alone and housework has become too hard to do, you think. Think about your life. Petunia would do that a lot.

Dudley barely ever visited her, so she was alone with the quiet. She never realized how much Vernon talked. The man never seemed to cease talking. A constant noise. Without it, Petunia could not stop thinking, thinking about her life, and getting lost in memories.

Lily giggled quietly, but it turned into a full laugh when Petunia stuck her tongue out at her. Their mother, Rose, tisked. She was doing Petunia's hair,

Lily was sitting across from her supposedly doing her homework. She wasn't. Petunia giggled with Lilly, and before long, their mother let go of Petunia's hair and sighed as she waited for the girls to get it out of their system.

"What's so funny, girls?" Mother asked them, and Lily pointed across the table at Petunia "she was making a funny face on purpose mummy!" Lily said a huge grin on her face. Petunia shook her head in denial. She actually had been making a funny face on purpose, letting her eyes go comicly wide and her mouth open when her mother brushed and pulled her hair back. And stuck her tounge out at Lily when she looked at her. Simply to make her Lily laugh. she had been frowning down at her schoolwork

in those days, Petunia would do anything to make her beloved sister happy. Petunia was that way for a long time, too. But she had let herself be twisted by jealousy and resentment.

But who wouldn't be jealous of magic? It was so wonderful and beautiful, the little bits of it that Petunia saw before she let her green eyed monster take hold of her, and she started pushing Lily away and calling her a freak.

But you say something enough, and you start to actually feel and think it. So Lily went from her beloved younger sister to a wretched strange freak.

That's how she thought for a long time. letting distance grow between them. Lily never stopped sending Petunia letters. She would just tuck them away in boxes and pretend she didn't have a sister.

Until she almost tripped over a baby on her stoop one cold November morning.

But you all know that story.

Petunia had a feeling she would be answering for all she had done to her nephew soon.

Petunia sighed in her hospital bed. It was dim in here. She should call a nurse to open the curtains. It hurt too much to press the call button. Petunia shook her head and sighed again. She couldn't see the ceiling, everything being far too blurry to see clearly for a long time now. She could barely hear the beeping of the machines, but she was so tired she closed her eyes and listened as the heart monitor beeps slowed down and she didn't open her eyes again.

Petunia was no longer in pain. Good. Oh, right. She'd died. What a rather sad death. Petunia thought. Alone in a dim and dreary hospital room. Petunia was glad to be rid of all the aches and pains of old age, though.

She opened her eyes and could see clearly! Oh! She smiled and steached out her body completely and looked around herself. She was in the room she had had at number 4 pivot drive. Petunia looked out the window and gasped. This may have been her room at 4 pivot, but this was not Surry.

Out the window, the sky was green, and the sun purple it gave everything a washed-out look about it.

"Definitely not in Kansas anymore" Petunia muttered to herself and turned away from the window to the closet door with a full-length mirror on it and stared at herself.

She looked younger than she was when she died. But her hair was still silver, and she still had her wrinkles. She looked old but she didn't feel it.

She laughed.

She started to look through the closet when there was a banging on what sounded to be the front door.

Petunia paused what she was doing, the banging on the door was so instant she put down one of the shoes she was holding, a pair she had lost years ago in the move to number 4. And stated to walk out of the bedroom towed the front door and to whoever was banging on it.

As she made her was to the door she saw the beautiful mahogany table from her childhood home and also In the living room was the maroon antique armchair from that place. She only had a moment to look around, but she had a feeling, just like the pair of shoes, she would find treasured lost things all over. It was such a comforting and exciting idea she smiled as she finally got to the door.

The person on the other side was still banging insistently. The smile froze when she caught a glimpse of red and slipped from her face entirely as she recognized who was on the other side of the door.

Lilly.

She still had a fist raised to continue the banging she had been doing, her hair windswept and wild, she was panting. she looked like she had run there.

"A CUBARD UNDER THE STAIRS?!?" With each word, Lily yelled she came closer, and Petunia took a step back. They were inside the house then, the door closed, and they were in the hallway already halfway to the kitchen as Lily continued to yell at Petunia about ALL the abuses and all the neglectful behavior torwds Harry

Petunia knew she deserved this and more, she told herself as Lily yelled with righteous anger at her, about how she had treated her son.

They had made it to the table, and Petunia had sat down, never looking away from Lilly.

She was so young.

which should not be surprising as Lily died when she was 21, and Petunia had continued to live on until she was in her 90s.

Lily had died so young. That thought distracted Petunia while Lily yelled.

Lily finally stopped yelling and slumped down into a chair.

She was crying, Petunia was too.

"Nothing I can say will ever make up for all I've done. I was so very wrong, and I'm sorry" Petunia said. It really could never make up for anything, and that's made even more apparent with Lilly's shaking her head.

"Nothing…why did you treat him that way, though, Tunie?" Lily said. Tunie.

Even now, Lily still called her that nickname.

Having yelled all of Petunia's sins against Harry Lily seemed to have yelled herself out. For now. She was still so angry at Petunia.

"...I don't even rightly know" Petunia said, spending her hands on the table, not bothering to wipe away the tears running down her face. "...I missed you. I hated you. I loved you. And he had your eyes. And he was just like you too…so…magical…" Petunia said, finally looking up at Lily again.

Lily was sitting in the chair closest to Petunia. Lily was facing away from Petunia, but she could see the tears on her face too "I let jealousy twist me. Not just from the time Harry was in my home either…" Petunia paused. She didn't know if now was the right time for apologies, yet Lily was still angry, but she was still at the table, so "...im so sorry, Lils! I-if I could i would do it all again and not let my stupid petty jealousy take hold and t-twist me into someone neither of us recognize" She said through her tears and Lily scoffed, but she didn't leave, she diddn't Look at Petunia, either.

The sisters stayed like that. Sitting at the table, not looking at each other crying silently.

Petunia doesn't know how long they stay like that it felt like days honestly, maybe it was. She didn't know how time worked in the afterlife.

Lily sighed and wiped her tears away, finally turing to look at Petunia. "would you honestly really do it again?" Lily said, looking Petunia right in the eyes. Petunia nodded frantically "ye-" Petunia starts to say, but Lily interrupts her "NO! Don't just agree. Think about it. Knowing everything you do, could. You. Do. It. Again?" Lilyvsaid and Petunia looked down at her hands, could she? Really? Knowing herself so much better than she did, could she do it again? Having more awareness about how words and names can actually hurt and damage, could she do it all again? Yes, she could. Petunia wasn't that jealous little girl anymore. She could do everything so differently now…right? She was strong enough now. "yes. And believe me, Lils, I would if I could" Petunia said. Lily nodded and smiled a little, but it faded quickly, and she reached over to squeeze one of Petunia's hands gently "see that's what I thought you would say." Lily said, and Petunia put her hand over Lilly's gently, keeping it there and hope blooms in her heart. Hope that Lily could actually forgive her. Petunia smiles through her tears

"so…what if…Petunia what if there was a way? You just said you would if you could…I might have a way to send you back…but you would be going back with knowledge of the future, and that's a heavy burden" Lily said.

Petunia paused for a moment. Wait she…she means it. Lily actually means it. And Petunia did just agree. She feels a hysterical laugh form in her chest, but one look at Lily in the eyes, eyes filled with determination, and Petunia doesn't let it escape. "I would. But Lily, what are we talking about exactly?" Petunia asked. She had to know.

Lily stares into her eyes, searching them and puts her other hand on top of Petunia's "I know a way…a way to send your mind and soul back to before." Lily said, sounding hesitant for the first time.

"what is this way, Lily?" Petunia asked. She turned her hands over under Lily's to hold both of her hands. Petunia didn't know if this was a good idea but she remembered reading about her beloved little sister's death in a letter and her very first thought had been wanting to give anything to change it, not just Lily's death but the relationship between them. And then she had thought if Lily had been less of a freak, she would not be dead.

Whatever this way was, Petunia wanted to know it.

Lily held onto Petunia's hands and smiled a little again and looked into Petunia's eyes. Took a deep breath and told her.

"its a way to send your mind and soul back in time to your younger self. this way it...it comes with a price. This kind of magic always has a heavy price to be paid. It's an old form of magic. I would pay most of this price myself. but you would pay some too, in the form of everything you know. And you would not be able to tell anyone about any of it. You'd be alone. It'd give you a new chance" Lily said.

Petunia thought about for all of mybe 7 seconds and held tightly to Lilly's hands as she looked into her sister's green determined eyes, and the same determination filled her own blue eyes, and she nodded. "what do we do?"
