The timeline for this is after The Sun and The Star for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and around Season 1 Ep. 9 for Voltron: Legendary Defender
I don't own any characters, all credit goes to Rick Riodan and the creators of Voltron: Legendary Defender
Nico was angry. He and Hazel got into a fight. It wasn't serious, and he couldn't stay mad at her for long. She was his sister after all. He just needed to clear his
thoughts. So he shadow-traveled. He'd gotten better at it recently. It no longer tired him out to travel longer distances, nor did it tire him to summon a couple skeletons. He still got tired if he traveled too far, or if he raised too many skeletons. But it wouldn't tire him to travel to his desired location—London.
He'd grown quite fond of the place and would come here when he needed some space. After what happened in Tartarus, with Will. He wanted to spend some time away from the Underworld. He still loved the place, but he wanted to start spending more time with the living than the dead.
He walked around a bit, clearing his thoughts. He wasn't mad at Hazel anymore, but he needed to think of how to approach her again, how to apologize. He turned into an alleyway—preparing to shadow-travel—when he heard it.
BANG!
He whipped around to see smoke coming from a nearby shop. Hoping it was a mortal problem, he cautiously looked around before slowly turning back to his alleyway. That was when he heard it. The deafening roar of something that was definitely NOT mortal.
"Shit." Nico cursed as he rushed out of the alleyway
He ran towards the shop, stopping just outside the storefront windows. Citizens ran around in a panic as police scrambled trying to find the cause of the smoke. Nico looked around when suddenly the street became quiet, like the calm before a storm. Without warning, the storefront windows exploded. Nico was flung across the street; landing square on his back.
The landing made his vision go dark. When it returned, he saw the shadow of a ginormous figure walking towards him. He tried to get up, but the pain restricted his movements. After a bit of struggling, he stood up. The figure—still shrouded in smoke—charged. At the last second, Nico dodged, jumping onto the hood of a police car.
As the smoke cleared, Nico got his first glance at his opponent. It was…the minotaur; and it did NOT look happy. Though Nico doubted it ever looked happy. Just then, the minotaur charged again. Nico dodged, hoping to tire it out before fighting. This pattern of charging and dodging continued until the minotaur finally caught on. It backed Nico under an overhead balcony. With a wall to Nico's back and another wall to Nico's left. The only way Nico could dodge was right. When Nico dodged, the minotaur was ready and promptly changed directions.
It slammed Nico into a brick wall. Nico grasped the minotaur's horns as the minotaur flung it's head around; almost flinging Nico into the now burning building. The minotaur continued to run around like a wild bull, flinging its head attempting to get rid of Nico. Nico felt his grip slipping, and the minotaur flung him into a car's windshield. Nico's whole body was in pain, and he could feel blood soaking the back of his shirt.
He tried to sit up, but the minotaur had other plans. It charged Nico, sinking its horns into the glass and pinning him to the windshield. Nico grabbed its horns again, just as the minotaur stood up. His grip was weak, and the minotaur flung him off easily. This time, however, Nico flipped in the air and landed on his feet.
"You messed with the wrong demigod…" he said as he drew his sword, and charged the monster.
The minotaur roared and charged him as well. They met just as Nico brought his sword down. He slashed through the minotaur, who promptly disintegrated.
Nico fled the scene. Knowing full well that the mist would sort things out. Mortals would probably blame it on a freak gas incident. He went back to his alleyway and sat down. His whole body still hurt, so he grabbed an ambrosia squared from his pocket, unwrapped it, and bit off a corner. Instantly, his body filled with strength and the pain lessened.
He sat down for a bit, allowing the ambrosia to heal as much as possible. Nico prepared to shadow-travel to the camp infirmary. Just to make sure he was fully healed before apologizing to Hazel. He knew Will would fuss over him and make him stay longer than needed; but being honest, he liked that time with Will. He stood up and walked into the shadows.
This time, however, it felt wrong. Nico felt a shiver go down his spine; and not the kind he was used to. He tried to focus on the infirmary, but something stopped him. In confusion, he attempted to go back to London. When suddenly he felt a tug in his gut, and he was pulled into nothingness.
Unlike normal shadow-travel, he couldn't control where he was going. At first, he thought he was just too tired. But soon, it became clear that this wasn't like his other accidental trips to China. It felt as though something was forcefully pulling him somewhere. The more he struggled, the more tired he became. He knew wherever this 'thing' was taking him, it was far from London.
Suddenly, the feeling stopped. The darkness opened and Nico fell into the light. He hit the ground hard. When he looked up, his vision was blurry; but he could see the figures of two people. They appeared to be fighting, one fought with what looked like a sword. The other fought with a long stick, like the pilum Hazel showed him at Camp Jupiter.
His vision darkened, he heard a scream. Then nothing.
I know this is short, but I didn't want to go all in for my first fanfic. The next chapters will definitely be longer and have more dialouge. I want your opinions on this, so be sure to leave a review. I don't think I'm going to add any ships in here besides Solangelo, as there are MANY controversial ships in VLD.
