Author: I apologize, I wrote the plural of the spearow spearows, which I still, right now, wonder why I did, here Eevee, you deserve this cookie 'author hands Eevee a cookie and Eevee eats it', Now, enjoy the chapter, Chapter 6, The Cerulean Badge. AJ
The sun was high in the sky when the group reached Cerulean City, and as soon as they saw it, they rushed, well, at least three of them did, towards it, with smiles and enthusiasm, eager to get their second gym badges from its gym.
"Guys, slow down, the city's not going anywhere!" Brock called after them. Ash, Red, and Leaf did not even stop while they gave him their reply in unison.
"But the gym badges might, Brock."
Brock could not think of a reply, so after a second of silence, he admitted, "Well, they have a point."
"Does that mean I can run after them?" Ditto asked hopefully, in Ash's form.
"It's not like I could've stopped you before you know," Brock replied. "See you in Cerulean!" he said, speeding up his steps.
"Deal," Ditto exclaimed, then transformed into a pidgeot and took off.
While Ditto's pidgeot form was speedy, Ash had determination in him, so he was the first to get to the Pokémon Center, he walked to the front desk, and was handing his Pokémon to Nurse Joy when Ditto, as pidgeot, arrived. He was disappointed he was not the first, and also confused by it. But he decided to Except the truth and transformed back to Ash.
`Ooh, Pokémon Centers were always interesting!` he commented in a monologue.
"Hey, Ditto, come on," Ash called, noticing the Pokémon deep in thought. "Let's go eat!"
`Now that's what I'm talking about,` ditto thought.
After a minute, Ash and Ditto, followed by Red and Leaf, who arrived and handed their Pokémon to Nurse Joy, were in the cafeteria of the Pokémon Center. They got themselves some food, they also got a chair for Brock, and sat on a table to chat.
"So what's the type of the gym?" Leaf asked.
"Water," Red replied. "And I think they have strategies to counter electric and grass-types."
"Why?"
"There are three, and some say four sisters acting as gym leaders there, so I'm sure they've planned something for them a long time ago."
"Four?!" Ash and Leaf exclaimed.
"I think you only need to battle one of them to get the badge though," Red explained.
"Oh, *few*."
"I think I'm gonna enjoy this," Ditto said happily.
Brock had gone to buy supplies with Ditto transformed as Ash, while Ash, Red, and Leaf eagerly made their way to the Cerulean City Gym. Their anticipation quickly turned to disappointment when they realized the gym leaders weren't taking their responsibilities seriously.
When the group arrived at the gym, they noticed there were preparations made for something, and after asking three certain girls, they learned that the preparations were for a show. The group also asked about the gym leaders, and the biggest girl answered that they are. And when the group challenged them for gym battles to get their next gym badges, the three, whom the group realized are sister-gym-leaders told them to talk with them about it after the show. After the show, the group asked the three sisters if they were going to accept their challenges, and the sisters replied that the gym Pokémon are exhausted, so they can simply get gym badges without a battle, and when Red told them that they are there to challenge the gym and earn the badges fairly, they told them that they do not accept challenges.
It was a dissatisfaction for the three trainers. From when they saw Cerulean earlier in the day, they wanted to battle for and get the badge, not get the badge by just someone going "hey, I'm tired so I'm gonna give ya the badge for no reason, also I'm entering ya to the Pokémon league by cheating, congrats!" Someone had to do something about it!
"What do you mean you don't accept challenges?" Ash exclaimed, his voice tinged with anger. "That's your job as gym leaders!"
"Listen, we already told you you can get the gym badges, so just like, take them and leave," one of them, the youngest said calmly.
"Yeah, why do you say you don't want them? If I were you, I would've, like… jumped on the chance to get the badge," the bigger one agreed.
"We're not cheaters," Red replied coldly. "If we're getting any badge, we're taking it fair and square. Not because three lazy gym leaders who don't do their jobs offered it."
"Hey, my name is Daisy, not Lazy," the biggest retorted. "and we're not lazy, if we were, you wouldn't see us doing all of these so amazing shows would ya?" (Don't you get annoyed by people like this?)
"Yes, I would, lazy people tend to do boring stuff," Red replied.
"BORING?" Daisy was annoyed by that word. "Boring? YOU CALL THIS BORING? I'LL LET YOU KNOW THAT MOST PEOPLE THAT COME HERE WATCH THE SHOWS, NOT TO GET STUPID GYM BADGES!"
"Well, their boring too then."
Daisy was frustrated so much that her eyes seemed to let fire out. "HOW DARE YOU-"
"Alright you three, what did you do this time?" a voice called, the newcomer's voice appeared to be infuriated. Interrupting Daisy's burst of anger, it was also familiar to Red and Ash.
"Misty?" the three sisters exclaimed, alarmed.
"W-When did you get back?" the smallest asked in worry.
"Three minutes, I leave for three minutes and you three do something crazy," the new comer, Misty scolded, not seeming to care a bit for the question of her, seemingly older sister.
Dayzy tried to retort. "He was saying-"
"I don't care what he was saying, it's still your fault, you're the one who refused the challenges," Misty interrupted, and Daisy could not come up with a response, she knew very well Misty was right, so she kept her mowth shut.
Daisy sighed in defeat, and her eyes stopped letting fire out. And she and the other two sisters left. Leaving Misty and the group in the room.
"So," Misty started, her mood suddenly changing, she turned calm, as if nothing had happened and she was just casually talking with the group from the start. "You want to challenge the gym?"
Red nodded. "Yeah, and don't think the outfit won't let me recognize you! You're the girl who helped me and Ash before."
Misty nodded. "mmm-hmm, so you now know what gym I'm the leader of."
"hmm," Red nodded. "Now, about the gym battles"-
Red, Ash and Leaf agreed that Red would be the first to challenge Misty. They also agreed with Misty that, because she does not have a lot of Pokémon and that other Pallet Town trainers came and battled her and her sisters, and that her sisters used the gym Pokémon for their show, everyone should battle her in a one on one battle, and if she noticed the challenger's ability to control their Pokémon, and that they were worthy of the gym badge, they would get it. but if not, they would need to challenge her a second time to get the badge.
Misty then led the group to a pool in the gym, a large and very clean pool. She explained that it was the battlefield, and if any of the battling Pokémon leave it during their battle, they were disqualified from the battle and the trainer had to switch them, if it was a two on two, of course. So basically, if the Pokémon left, or got thrown out of the battlefield, the trainer loses in the group's case.
They had one, very little problem.
"Does anyone know how to referee a match?" Misty asked, looking at the group. "I don't think I'll be fair if I'm the referee."
"It's easy," Red said lightly.
"Well, when it's not your time to battle, you be the referee then!" Misty declared.
"OK, but what about –my- battle?" the boy asked. "Who's gonna be the referee?"
"I'll be," Leaf chimed.
"OK," Misty accepted, smiling.
Red and Misty stood on opposite sides of the pool, and Leaf stood outside the pool, between them to the right. "This battle is a one on one against Misty, if Red wins he gets the badge, begin!" she called.
(an incredible referee indeed, wow!)
"Staryu, go!" Misty called out. The starfish Pokémon appeared in the pool, its gem glowing under the light. It cried its name.
"Pika, go!" Red ordered, his face quickly losing all emotions.
Pika cried his name, jumping in the pool.
"Staryu, use Swift!" Misty ordered.
Red ordered a Thunder Shock. Pika prepared to launch his attack, but Misty ordered.
"Staryu, Protect!"
(I thought she told it to use Swift, I wonder what will Staryu use now)
Pika unleashed the electric-attack. It flowed with a buzz, thrue and above the water, causing its electrification. It was targeting the staryu, who did not move an inch from its position. When Misty ordered Protect, the Pokémon moved to avoid the electric strike, and did not take any damage from the electric charged water.
Red ordered Pika to use Quick Attack. Pika swam toward Staryu as Quick as he could, however, it was not enough for a Quick attack. The water's resistance came into play, an obstacle Misty made, well, discovered was a very good one. For it slowed down Pokémon who were not used to swimming usually.
"Staryu, -now- Swift, quick!" Misty called. (Oh, so now it's using Swift, OK)
"Right," Staryu yelled, firing a volley of energy stars in Pika's direction. The electric mouse saw them, but he was unable to swim or avoid them once he was struck by several of them, so he fell in the water. Because of his failed use of Quick Attack, he was already close to sinking, and the stars hasten the process. After the other stars followed the mouse underwater and then hit their target, the poor electric mouse struggled even more to get out of the water. He kicked the water vehemently, trying to push himself up to get out for a breath, and after tens of seconds of struggling, he finally managed to get out. After frantically gasping for air, the mouse desperately looked for a solid object to stand on.
Red ordered him to calm down, and as much as he refused to do it out of fear, he could not stop himself from calming down (However that works, Red just commanded him with commands and he could not defy). Red ordered him to use Quick Attack again, and he did not try to refuse. He swam as fast as he could, But the water resistance made things difficult for him once again. He tried, tried, and tried, and finally succeeded. He swiftly swam towards Staryu and hit it as hard as he could, but due to the water resistance, the blow wasn't as hard as it was intended to be.
Misty called her next command, "Staryu, now, use Tackle!"
The Pokémon tackled the Pikachu with ease, causing the electric-type to fall in the water again.
Before Pika fell in however, and in the briefest of time, Red gave an order, it was like an instinct, like the commands he usually gave, yet it was full of emotion, emotions that Pika used as a boost to be able to obey the command, 'TAKE A BREATH, NOW!' if it was not for that command, Pika does not know how would he not pass out from the zero air underwater.
(But there is oxygen under the water)
'Swim away,' Pika was ordered. 'And keep holding your breath!' Pika did not need to be told that. He swam away from Staryu, as fast as he could, he could hear a splash behind him, a splash only can be made when something or someone enters or dives in the water, he swam faster, knowing that Staryu dove behind him.
Red knew that he needed to find a way for Pika to battle right, running from Staryu was not going to help him forever. He scanned the pool with his eyes, only water, around and around he looked, assuring Pika that he was going to find him a way out, and he would not let him down. He kept on looking and seeing Staryu in the water, chasing Pika, no matter where he looked, there was only water. But there, around the Pool, he spotted platforms, `Bingo,` 'Pika go right and jump on the nearest platform,' he was not breaking rules, the rules allowed this, Pika was still in the pool. Pika swam towards a platform, with all of his might, he grabbed onto it, he pulled himself out of the water, and he let out the breath he was holding, and started gasping for air again. He felt dizzy, but also relieved. He did not think he was going to make it. However, he knew that he could not continue running from Staryu like that. He needed a solution, and he hoped Red would come up with one, and fast.
"Swift again!" Misty commanded. From underwater, sparcling stars appeared, aiming to strike Pika. The Pokémon did not know where to go. He was trapped, well, kind of, he was on the platform, so it was either going back in the water, or.
'Jump on the next platform, then jump back in the water,' was Red's order. Pika obeyed, he got hit by the stars, true, but he did not fall in the water forcefully. He at least took his time to take a breath, and dove in the water at will. 'Thunder Shock,' Pika felt the command, and prepared the electric attack.
Without saying a word, the Thunder Shock left him, with a feeling of pressure, Pika swam up to get some air. The water started bubbling with electricity, Misty only gasped as she understood that even Protect was not about to protect her staryu. The electric charged water surrounded Staryu, and the StarShape Pokémon cried in pain. It immediately surfaced, getting some rest above the water. It was not knocked out, it just needed to pull itself together. (Why out of the water? I have no idea)
"Staryu, are you alright?" Misty asked in concern.
"Yeah," Staryu replied energetically. It was healthier and ready to go.
"Alright, great!" Misty exclaimed. "Now use Water Gun!"
Although it was resisted, Pika still felt a good amount of damage, the electric mouse Pokémon realized that Staryu was well trained.
'Use Iron tail on Staryu,' Pika felt himself charge his tail with energy, then he swam Staryu's direction, intending to strike it with the steal-type move.
"IRON, TAIL!" Pika shouted, hitting Staryu and sending it flying.
"Staryu, Redirect yourself using Water gun!" Misty called.
With a battle cry, the Star Shape Pokémon redirected itself, and instead of flying out of the water, it got down inside the water, and swam Pika's way as fast as it could, the water helped.
"Pika, look out!" Red warned, seeing Staryu preparing itself to drag Pika underwater. The electric mouse Pokémon did not see it coming, and Red's warning was a little too late. Staryu dragged Pika underwater, Using the current of water generated by its fast swimming to knock the mouse off balance, dragging him easily under the water, then it send energy stars that didn't leave Pikachu unscathed. The electric mouse felt exhaustion, he wished he could get out to take a breath, how is Staryu holding him like that anyway? What was that unphysical grip that staryu was using on him?
He struggled, struggled, and struggled. That time, he was sure he was going to faint, there was no way he could take all this and not faint, he just wished it came faster, or at least to breathe, just one breath, he just needed to get out of Staryu's powerful hold on him, left, right, it did not work, the mouse was sort of.. held in place, unable to move.
Huh? Was it over?
Pika felt free, like something was holding him in place just let him go. His body surfaced, and he immediately gasped for air again.
'Thunder Shock!' Pika complied with the order, he released his strongest Thunder shock to that point, and it seemed to grow stronger and expand. `Is that what I think it is?` Was that what Pika perceived to be a significant increase in electric energy?
With a powerful cry of his name, Pika channeled all of his energy into the growing electric attack. Even from the stands, one could hear the buzzing of the electric attack. The attack kept growing, and as it approached Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon was powerless to stop the newly learned Thunderbolt from hitting it or the electrified water from reaching it, which caused it to scream in agony. Water conducts electricity, so no matter how hard Staryu tried to rebuff it or escape, the pain didn't go away or get any less whether it went left or right.
*ding*.
[Pika the pikachu learned Thunderbolt. Replacing Thunder Shock]
"Pika, that was awesome!" Red exclaimed, his face regaining emotions. The emotions it had were joy and amazement, Pika's Thunderbolt had did the trick, the Star Shape Pokémon was surely about to go down. Again though, the emotions in Red's face disappeared, and his face had that expressionless intent look on the battlefield. (Just imagine)
'Use Thunderbolt again,' Pika's body started to charge up with electricity, and he released it all at once towards Staryu. A buzzing sound could be heard as the electric current ran through the air and traveled into the water, causing it to become electrified. The water-type Pokémon was greatly affected by the electricity in the water, causing it to scream in pain. The actual attack successfully hit and sent Staryu soaring through the air. Misty, this time, surprisingly did not give any redirect or counter commands, and why became clear moments later when Staryu fell outside the pool motionless and unconscious. Red emerged victorious in two ways, the first was to knock out the opponent's Pokémon, and the second was to throw the Pokémon out of the pool, and Misty lost the match.
"And, Staryu is unable to battle, Pika wins! RED WINS!" Leaf exclaimed.
(Some referee this is. I mean, Red winning is cool and all, but she didn't need to jump up and down like a galloping Rapidash)
Emotion flooded Red's face as he heard those words, happiness, amazement, and excitement, he hugged Pika once the electric-type got out of the water, he jumped in joy, and although Pika was tired, he could not resist and started cheering with his trainer, feeling proud of himself. He knew he struggled against a Staryu, in the water, but he knew that that was a gym leader Pokémon, whom he knew put up more fight than wild Pokémon, so ignoring that was the best option.
"THIS IS THE BEST, WE WON OUR NEXT GYM BADGE!" Red exclaimed.
"This is the best," Pika repeated. "I defeated that staryu without drowning, ha, take that you star, fish.. thing! No one messes with Red and Pika!"
Misty came to their side of the battlefield at some point, having returned Staryu, and she was holding something, when she extended her hand, Red could see it was a Cascade badge, "Congratulations Red, you've earned yourself this badge fair and square, like you wanted!" she said, smiling.
As Red glanced down at the badge in her hand, he took a moment to comprehend the events that had just transpired. A smile spread across his face, "thanks!" he sincerely thanked, while taking the badge. Before enthusiastically exclaiming, "ALRIGHT, WE WON THE CASCADE BADGE!" He paused the victory pause, and Pika mirrored his actions, also feeling pure happiness envelop him like a hug.
"This battle is a one on one, Leaf versus Misty, if Leaf wins, she Gets the cascade Badge!" Red called, refereeing the match between the said trainers.
"Go, Bulbasaur!" Leaf called. Bulbasaur popped out of her pokéball, in the pool, and glansed around, and her eyes showed understanding of battling in a pool.
"Go, Goldeen!" Misty called out. the Pokémon was thrown out in the pool, and immediately, it saw Bulbasaur, and decided to greet her.
"Hello, nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you too," Bulbasaur happily responded.
"Let's have a good battle!"
"Yeah, show me what you've got."
"Now dat's spo'tsmanship!" Meowth said impressed, perched on Leaf's shoulder.
"What are they saying?" Leaf asked.
"Did the meowth just talk?" Misty asked ordinarily, keeping a smile and trying to convince herself that `This is only just me hearing things.. right?` Wrong.
"Yeah, so-"
"Battle begin!" Red called, interrupting Meowth.
Misty was still a little … uncomprehending shall I call it? Of a Meowth replying to her, thus she did not order an attack.
Leaf, on the other hand, "Bulbasaur, Razor Leaf!" she ordered.
Leafs shot towards Goldeen and spread, and the poor water-type was heavily damaged. "AAH!" it yelled.
"Uh, Dive underwater!" Misty called, having at last collected herself. Goldeen cried its name, and dove swiftly underwater. "Agility now!"
Though unseen, Goldeen was surely focusing her mind with agility, seconds later, a water current was made, and that caught Bulbasaur off guard. The grass-type did not expect an indirect attack, and she should have.. she really, really should have.
"Horn Drill!" Misty called.
Horn Drill is a move that is known for its power, well, kind of, it knocks out an opponent upon contact, no matter who the opponent was, how bulky the opponent was, how speedy the opponent was, or how slow the user was, if the move makes contact, boom, the opponent is done for the count.
Leaf did process Misty's order, but it was too late. Goldeen was already out of the water, charging at Bulbasaur with its spinning like a drill sharp and pointed horn. As It approached Bulbasaur, it spun more rapidly, Leaf watched in horror as Goldeen came closer, closer, closer, and with every second, it spun more rapidly, it was so close, and was about to strike Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur's and Leaf's minds raced to find a plan, anything, anything to not get knocked out by this destructive move.
On instinct, Bulbasaur backed away quickly, she was still in the water, but at least not in front of that crushing move Horn Drill. Goldeen came closer again, but Horn Drill missed Bulbasaur by a long shot.
Horn Drill is also known to miss a lot, to the point that people would rather use normal moves and knock out opponents with some effort instead of using it to one hit knock out their opponents.
"Few," Bulbasaur sighed.
"Few," Leaf sighed too. " Bulbasaur, Vine Whip!"
"Right, VINE, WHIP!" Bulbasaur cried, her eyes squinting with determination. Her bulbous back swelled with energy, and She took a deep breath before extending her two slender vines at towards Goldeen, each one stretching out to nearly twice her body length. The vines were covered in numerous green leaves that rustled and swayed as they moved above the water surface through the air. Bulbasaur's vines moved with incredible speed, whipping back and forth like a pair of living whips. With each hit, the leaves on Bulbasaur's vines rustled and shook, amplifying the impact of the attack. The sound of the Whipping could be heard loudly echoing through the gym, a sound that intimidated Goldeen. With each whip, Goldeen cried in pain. As Goldeen reeled from the attack, Bulbasaur's vines retracted back into her body.
"Goldeen, no," Misty called worriedly.
"I'm, OK," Goldeen said, shaking like the shaking of Horn Drill, but from exhaustion. Those super-effective moves sure took their toll on it. "I, can still, fight."
"Are you sure?" Misty asked, seeing Goldeen's determination. When Goldeen nodded, Misty ordered her next move, "Alright then, Supersonic!"
"Supersonic! HERE I GOOO!" Goldeen sang, continuing to say the letter "o" for the rest of the attack. Goldeen flapped its fins gracefully, and with a burst of energy, it emitted a series of high-pitched sound waves that reverberated through the battlefield. The melodious yet disorienting tones of Supersonic swirled and twisted, resulting in a sonic landscape that confused and bewildered Bulbasaur. The sound waves traveled with incredible speed, disrupting everyone's focus, and leaving Bulbasaur confused and vulnerable to Goldeen's next move.
"Ow, Ow," Leaf gasped, Supersonic was giving her a hard time, she continued, gritting her teeth. "Bulbasaur, try to-" Leaf stopped when she remembered that her bulbasaur got confused by the Supersonic attack. "Oh No, Bulbasaur!"
"Use Horn Drill!" Misty called with a confident smile forming on her face.
Uh-oh!
Goldeen began spinning like a drill, and charged Bulbasaur's direction with a battle cry of its name. It began spinning faster and faster while getting closer to the confused Bulbasaur, who did not move, even when Leaf called her name. But Leaf did not give up the match yet, and she continued calling for Bulbasaur to move away. Sadly, her calls went on deaf ears.
Goldeen's Horn was a literal drilling machine when it reached Bulbasaur, Goldeen struck the grass-type with as much force as its body could muster, drilling in her and sending her flying out of the pool. Bulbasaur cried in pain as she was sent flying, out of the pool she went, and fell unconscious.
"Bulbasaur is unable to battle, Misty wins!" Red called disappointedly. The boy did not like the fact his friend lost, but he wanted to be the referee, so he needed to finish the match.
Leaf fell silent, a sad look on her face. She lost the battle, easily, and she could not have done a thing to change the outcome. And she felt sorry for her Bulbasaur, she had been hit by Horn Drill, a move she always knew was destructive. She heard about people winning the Pokémon league with it, well, true they were all lies, but it could happen someday. And Bulbasaur was proof to her that this is one of the strongest, and at the same time weakest moves in the Pokémon world.
Accepting her loss, "Thank you, Bulbasaur," she said, recalling Bulbasaur. Her face still had that down look on it, but Ash and Red, being the nice friends they were, decided to cheer her up.
"Come on Leaf, it's not the end of the world you know," Red said, having an expression that told Leaf to cheer up.
"Yeah, you could always challenge the gym again, like Red did when he lost to Brock," Ash said with a cheering smile.
"You didn't have to point that out," Red said, slightly annoyed.
Ash ignored Red, "And this Goldeen is powerful, also, who would expect Horn Drill to hit?"
"Me," Misty chimed in, from her side of the battlefield. "I trained Goldeen to battle grass-types. Agility, Supersonic, Horn Drill, it's to insure I have a chance against them."
"Oh, so it wasn't by random chance," Leaf said, her eyes widening with realization. Then she, surprisingly showed signs of relief. "I feel much better to know that I'm not losing by chance."
"See? It's not the end of the world!" Red said cheeringly.
"You're right! I'll train, or just come up with something to deal with Supersonic, then I'll have a rematch!" Leaf said with determination.
After Leaf's battle, Misty's sisters came with Brock and Ditto, they said that the two were asking about three trainers whom matched the descriptions of Ash, Red, and Leaf, and every reader knows why. After Brock and Ditto joined, Red took the time to fill them in about what happened, showing them his cascade badge, and telling them about Leaf's loss, every, single, detail. Brock comforted Leaf with some words of encouragement, and Ditto did as well, but he was a little annoyed about something.
"So, let me get this straight, you two," Ditto started, pointing at Red and Leaf. "Had already battled, and now it's Ash's turn?" the two humans nodded. "*sigh* I knew I should've punched Brock in the face when he was acting weird to that woman. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" he scolded, looking at Brock.
"Look, I'm sorry OK?" Brock said apologetically. "Now let's just watch Ash's battle!"
"Watching? Oh, no, I'm not watching, I've already missed enough action. HEY ASH," Ditto called, transforming into Leaf.
On the battlefield, Ash heard Ditto, and the ten-year-old wondered what was that all about. So he requested to go talk with Ditto, whom Misty did not know is Ditto.
"Yeah?" Ash asked Ditto, approaching him.
"I'm gonna battle with you, and I'm not taking no as an answer," Ditto declared.
"Uh-"
"I'm not taking no as an answer!" Ditto said threateningly, using scary face. Leaf's face turned yellow once she saw Ditto use her form's scary power.
"OK, OK, I wasn't gonna say no, p-please, stop making the scary face!" Ash requested, frightened.
"OK," Ditto said, turning back to normal Leaf form.
"Wait a minute, isn't that cheating?" Partner Pikachu asked.
"What?" Ditto questioned enquiringly.
"Pokémon owned by the trainer are the only ones they can use to battle," Eevee pointed out.
"But-"
"No, better luck Next time," Pikachu interrupted jokingly.
Ditto hummed frustrated, with sheer annoyance filling his face. "Fine," he transformed back to Ash. "Listen, you better win this, and keep the battle exciting, got that?"
"Uh, O …K," said the confused Ash. "So are you going to battle or-"
"NO!" Ditto roared. "I CAN'T."
"Why?"
Meowth chimed in with, "Ash, just go, and keep the battle exciting, dat guy ain't explainin' himself."
"Ok," Ash said. Then he turned and made his way back to the pool, where he was supposed to battle Misty. He stood outside the pool, facing Misty. "Sorry, something happened and… uh…"
"It's OK Ash," Misty said in understanding. "Ready now?"
"Yup, ready," Ash said, determination shining from his eyes. "Go, Eevee." `I know Pikachu wants to battle, but I have a scary face maker that wants an exciting battle over here.`
(Wait a minute, does that mean Pikachu's battling isn't exciting?)
"Ee, vee!" Eevee cried his name, jumping In the pool. *splash* "hey, Pikachu, this is nice, you need to get yourself a swim in here," he advised, then started swimming quickly around the pool.
`Well, there goes one obstacle I've made,` Misty thought, seeing Eevee swimming around the pool with ease. "Go, Starmie," she called, throwing a pokéball. From it emerged an echinoderm Pokémon that resembled two violet starfish with five appendages each. The front starfish had a golden formation in the middle. In the center of the golden casing is a red gem-like cut gem. The second starfish is semi-attached to the back of the first.
"Here we go!" Starmie exclaimed upon release.
"Oh, you must be Starmie, nice pool you battle in," Eevee complemented, swimming.
"Thanks, you swim quick, wanna race?" Starmie asked excitedly.
"After the battle Eevee!" Pikachu reminded.
"Oh yeah, after the battle, now show me what you've got," Eevee said, splashing in determination.
"You do to," Starmie told Eevee.
Having made his way to the battlefield after Ash, Red, again, stood refereeing the match. "Alright, you know the rules, one on one, Ash wins, he gets the Cascade Badge, BEGIN!"
"Starmie, use Water Gun!" Misty called out. With a cry, Starmie shot a small burst of water towards Eevee, who was hit by the Water Gun and started trying to avoid it, but failed to.
"Ouch!" Eevee said. "This thing's strong!"
"Eevee, swim, quick!" Ash called. Eevee Started swimming fast, left and right, confusing starmie and causing it to stop using Water Gun. "Now, Swift!" Eevee blasted energy stars Starmie's way, and quickly the water-type was hit by them.
"Starmie, counter his Swift with your own!" Misty commanded. Starmie smiled, and focused its energy, then like Eevee, it send a barrage of energy stars, which were going Eevee's way. The evolution Pokémon noticed, however, he refused to stop using Swift. Stars were going each direction, from Starmie to Eevee and vice versa, some stars collided and exploded, while others continued their way to hit their target, both Pokémon cried their names as the stars hit them, but they refused to stop.
"Eevee, use Quick Attack!" Ash called. Eevee cried his name, and swam forward with fast speed. His body glowed with normal-type energy, and with another cry, he slammed into Starmie, who stopped using Swift do to losing focus. However, Starmie stopping his Swift did not mean that the bombardment of stars stopped, the stars from before that Eevee sent hit Starmie, causing it to cry in pain, the stars Starmie generated to hit Eevee came closer too, but Eevee dodged as best as he could, and true, he got hit by some stars, the rest of them exploded upon contact with Starmie, causing it to cry in pain even more. "Now Double Kick!" Eevee kicked the Mysterious Pokémon twice, each one with a mighty cry.
"Starmie, no!" Misty called out in worry.
Hearing its trainer's worry, Starmie immediately stopped, it looked at Eevee, determination filling its eyes.
`He can attack me, he can be too strong too, but no one, and I mean no one, makes Misty feel scared, or worried, or anything like that. PSYCHIC!` Starmie thought. Its eyes glowed with psychic energy, that psychic energy that sent fear into everyone who felt it. the mysterious Pokémon cried its name mightily, and Eevee flew in the air, held by its psychic abilities. Starmie slammed Eevee to the ceiling, and back in the pool with strong force, resulting in a big splash that was in the size of a wave in the ocean, Starmie released Eevee, and held the wave with its psychic abilities. It raised the wave it raised the wave higher, higher, and sent it back down crashing back in the pool on top of Eevee, who yelled in pain.
"Eevee, NO!" Ash and Pikachu shouted In fear. Eevee heard Ash, and as strong as he could, he blasted stars of energy, they crashed into the wave, dissipating it bit by bit, every time a star exploded, some water fell in the pool, separated from the psychic held wave. After dozens of times trying to get himself out, Eevee finally succeeded. With a cry of his name, he struck Starmie with a Double Kick that sent it flying.
"Starmie, Recover, quick!" Misty called, urgency filling her voice.
"Right," Starmie obeyed, suddenly turning calm. Its body was surrounded with a healing aura, and it then became healthier, its power regained, and it felt the peaceful feeling the Recover leaves on the user. It dove in the pool. "Here I come!"
"Eevee, Swift!" Ash called. "Full power!"
"Alright, here I go, Swift Swift Swift" … Eevee called, repeating the word swift as he concentrated. Energy stars blasted with speed towards Starmie, underwater, left, right, they followed it, the Pokémon could not stop, it knew if it stopped, it was done for the count. The sound of Eevee's words, "Swift Swift Swift", echoed through the gym, every Pokémon and human heard it, and the sound of the water as the stars splash in it to follow Starmie was very loud. The stars, like when Eevee battled Pinsir, became stronger and faster with every "Swift" Eevee said. The stars collided with starmie, shaking it violently left and right. The Pokémon cried under the water, unable to escape. Eevee's determination increased every moment, seeing the Mysterious Pokémon getting defeated that easily was a wish, he concentrated even more, increasing the power and speed of the stars even more. Water started splashing in the pool like consecutive see waves, and Starmie could not handle the pressure any longer. The Pokémon emerged from the water, and Eevee was sure if it had a face, he would see clear exhaustion . But would Recover save it?
"Psychic!" Misty ordered. Starmie nodded, and glowed with the same psychic energy like before. It raised Eevee from the pool, punched the roof with him, and then threw him in the pool. "Now show him –your- Swift!" Starmie concentrated, and weak stars of energy blasted towards Eevee, who still could not dodge. Held by psychic, Eevee could hopelessly watch himself being struck by the energy stars, he only needed to break free. He was not going to disappoint Ash.
`I can't, lose this battle, Ash is counting on me,` Eevee thought. The psychic ended as Starmie needed to rest, and Eevee immediately fell in the pool, determination in his eyes. `I have to Win, I can't lose, I defeated Pinsir, Onix, I trained for this, I battle, not go crying,` he again, felt a flow of power, it was different then his mysterious energy ball thing, but he just.. knew how to do it, it was like his instincts were trying to tell him something.
'Focus!'
With every word Eevee thought in his… inner voice, he felt focus and more surging power in him.
'Focus on your determination,' his determination to win, to get stronger, to impress Ash. 'Let the energy fill you.'
He felt more energy build up inside him. 'Spark your power, become electrifying,' he felt a surge of electric-power filling him. 'Let it build up more,' he did, but he could not take the pressure anymore.
He needed to let it out.
'No, no, don't, use it to take down Starmie!'
That controlled feeling left Eevee's mind, and the electric-energy sparked out of him, Like a device about to explode. And his eyes glowed with determination. He swam forward, leaving behind a trail of sparks that turned the water turbulent and agitated do to their power. Pikachu watched in awe, with every other human and Pokémon as Eevee accelerated in speed, and Starmie tried going in any direction to avoid the terror causing attack. With a battle cry, Eevee shot a giant jolt of electricity towards Starmie, who did not have a chance of avoiding. The electric attack caused a buzzing sound while flying in the air, adding more devastation to it. Upon contact with Starmie, the attack disappeared, inside the mysterious Pokémon, whom everybody was able to know was for sure knocked out. It cried in pain, its body collapsing in the pool.
"Woah!" Red said in astonishment. "uh- I mean, STARMIE'S UNABLE TO BATTLE, ASH WINS!"
"Huh? We win?" Ash asked, with the calm before the storm. "YEAH! YEAH! THAT'S SO, SO AWESOME!" he, Pikachu, and Eevee jumped in joy, but Eevee fell, panting heavily. "Eevee!"
"I'm OK, I just, need to, rest," Eevee assured, gasping.
Misty had already returned Starmie, and came to Ash's side of the battlefield. In her hand, she held a Cascade badge. "Congrats Ash, you've earned yourself the Cascade badge!"
Ash looked at her hand, happiness in him, and clear on his features. "Thanks!" he took the badge, and paused his own Victory Pause. "Alright, we got, the Cascade badge!" he exclaimed joyfully, and Pikachu and Eevee, who was up, mimicked his actions.
"Alright!" they exclaimed.
(yes, I improvised with the move "Buzzy Buzz" too, I still need help. I don't know what it looks like when Eevee uses it. Please tell me!)
After Ash's battle, he, Misty, who needed to heal her Pokémon, Brock, Red, and Leaf went to the Pokémon Center, Ditto following. The humans handed their Pokémon to Nurse Joy, whom they asked for the second time if she was not the one working in Viridian or Pewter, no, she was not. Ditto jumped in with the other Pokémon, and after a nice five-minute rest, they decided to chat. For an unknown reason, Ditto transformed into a boy, not Ash or Leaf, just a "Random boy" he claimed, and he started babbling about Eevee's move.
"It, was, so, AWESOME!" Ditto exclaimed, at least in another form than Ash's and Leaf's.
"We got it, it's cool, that's the fifth time you've said that," Eevee said.
"How aren't you excited, it's –your- move," Pikachu wondered.
"I have no idea, it's a… I don't know how to describe it, but I don't know the move," Eevee answered hesitantly.
"What do you mean you don't know the move," Ditto asked.
"I, I don't know, it kinda… just came and I knew it and then it just.. disappeared from my mind," Eevee answered, recalling the battle. `First, it was Swift and normal stuff, then Starmie used its power, it crushed me with a wave, and… skipping that part. Then the super cool Swift, not the energy friendship thing, but I don't care, anyway then something told me "hey, how about using a super ultra-cool special move? No? Well you're using it anyway, now shut up and kill, I mean take down Starmie!" and I just listened to it.`
"Eevee?" pikachu's voice snapped Eevee out of his thoughts. Eevee smiled, to tell it was listening. "You're not listening are you?"
"Sorry," Eevee apologized sheepishly.
"Anyway, I'll transform into you now," Ditto declared. Before Eevee could respond, Ditto transformed into a replica of him. "Eevee ve!"
"Why would you say his name," Pikachu wondered.
"I couldn't come up with something to say for dramatic effect OK?" Ditto replied, then shrugged. He focused his energy, and charged towards the wall. "The Super Cool Move!" he called, and tried to use the move Eevee used in the gym, only to hit the hard wall, and do nothing, except hurt himself. "OW!"
"OK, first of all, why would you try it on a wall, second of all, I told you, I don't know how to use it, you can't copy a move I don't know how to use, you're transforming into me, third-"
"Alright Alright, I got it," Ditto apologized, then shifted to Petrel's form. "*sigh*… I wonder if someone trains me, would I become stronger?"
"Oh yeah, humans no how to train you, you weren't with us when Red taught his pikachu Iron Tail in less than a day, and we trained with Ash a lot, trust me, get yourself a trainer," Eevee advised. "I mean, look at the"-
Nurse Joy was not happy about this, she immediately called for Ash and friends to get their Pokémon, and warned them about Petrel.
"*shocked gasp*, who are you?" Nurse Joy asked, in worry.
"Hi," Ditto started, waving innocently. "Petrel, Team Rocket executive and here to-o-o… you know what? I'm just getting outta here real quick, bye!" he then jumped above Nurse Joy, and ran out of the room.
"Well, that was… confusing," Eevee commented.
"Thanks for telling us Nurse Joy!" Red said seriously.
"And for keeping our Pokémon safe," Ash added.
"Tell officer Jenny about this, she needs to know that there's a Team Rocket executive running around-"
"He probably escaped already, but wee'll tell her for safety, let's go!" Red interrupted Joy. He then started running, Ash and Leaf following behind, Misty thanked Nurse Joy, and ran after them, completely confused.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"To tell officer Jenny," Ash replied simply.
They immediately met her. "Whoa, slow down, what's going on?" Jenny asked.
"There's a Team Rocket executive running freely around the city, his name's Petrel," Red explained carefully.
"OK, you did good by telling me," Jenny said urgently, then ran back from wherever she came from.
"What would Petrel want from Cerulean?" Leaf wondered.
"Maybe there's a super awesome Pokémon here, I won't let Team Rocket steal it," Ash said determinedly.
Petrel may not be the boss of Team Rocket, but he understood a lot. Not just the boss knew information.
This? He did not understand.
He did not understand why would the boss send him with his new evil Pokémon to get some TM. He was the master of disguise, not the master of I stole a TM guys.
But oh well, it was what it was, and there was he, next to that powerful Team Rocket invention, a humanoid and feline mix of a Pokémon. And it was doing a fantastic job in this mission.
Their mission was to steal a technical machine device in Cerulean, and the big guy easily stole it. It had even knocked out the man and prevented him from calling the police when Petrel asked it to.
But then, how did officer Jenny know that they were in Cerulean?
"*sigh*, why do you even… you know what? Never mind. Deal with her!" he told the big guy/ Pokémon.
'hmm,' a sound echoed, and officer Jenny was flying in the air the next moment.
"*gasp*, what the-, let me go right now!" Jenny shouted.
'MM,' the same sound echoed, angrily. And the officer was thrown like a rocket to the sky, once she reached enough height, Petrel could say she was out of their way if the humanoid feline thing dropped her to the ground, or rather, released her from the psychic hold.
"I think you can let her go now, let's do as she says," Petrel told it, grinning wickedly.
'Mm.'
"AHHH!" this what was officer Jenny shouted as she fell towards the ground faster than a truck. When she hit the ground, she was completely down for the count.
"Good job big guy, you've done well. You can go now, give the device to the boss," Petrel said evilly.
The tough guy/Pokémon disappeared in a flash, along with the TM in Petrel's hand.
"Hahahaha, this, was, the easiest mission in my life!" Petrel exclaimed.
"What mission?" a voice asked, it was for a girl.
Petrel turned around and saw. "Twerpette? What are you doing in Cerulean?"
"Oh, just wandering around, wait a minute, Petrel, you don't recognize me?" the twerpette made a familiar cute face. "And to think we met last time less than a day ago. *sigh*, you need to quit Team Rocket, Disguise Guy."
"Wait, Ditto? JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN CERULEAN?"
"Like I said, wandering around," Ditto repeated simply.
Both stared at each other for a very long moment.
"Well — uh… this is… happening, uh, I need to go before officer Jenny wakes up," Petrel said.
Ditto transformed into Petrel. "OK, I'll cover you."
"Whose side are you on?" Petrel asked incredulously. `He's literally helping me escape. Why would he even think of doing that?`
"No one's."
`Well, I ain't standing here and arguing.`
"Later Ditto," Petrel said, running as fast as he could.
`Ditto's just rea-a-aly innocent. It makes me wanna have him for myself even more.`
After Petrel ran for twenty-minutes, he realized he had a… very small problem.
`How do I get back to headquarters?`
Waiting for half an hour paid off for Ditto. Officer Jenny had finally woken up, and he was disguised as a random boy he saw in the pokémart earlier, telling her about Petrel, and that he saw him run out of the city about half an hour ago. And she seemed to believe him.
"Mm, I see," she said, after hearing the story. "Thank you for telling me Conan!"
"Sure," Ditto replied smiling. "Anything to help arrest evil people."
"Well, if you say you saw him running in that direction, I better go after him," Jenny said resolutely, then ran in the direction Petrel ran in.
`Good, now with that outta the way, let me get back to the guys,` Ditto thought, and headed back to the Pokémon Center, still looking as the now named Conan.
Ditto did not stay as that Conan for a long time. Once he was close to the Pokémon Center, he shifted to Ash's form. He saw the group returning from their search for Petrel, Eevee and Pikachu looking at him incredulously, they did not believe he kept the lie for that long. He explained, to them only, that real Petrel was in the city, and that he knocked out Jenny, and ran away. Then, Eevee immediately got Ditto back to the topic of having a trainer. And Ditto, as Ash, accepted, see how this went yourself.
"-anyway, getting back to the topic, just ignoring the fact that there's a criminal who was about to steal you and stuff, did you give having a trainer a thought?" Eevee asked Ditto.
"Well," Ditto as Ash started. "I don't really know yet. I really wanna get stronger, but I also want to be free-"
"An evil trainer might catch you if you don't find a trust worthy one," Eevee pointed out.
"Oh, that is a good point. "Hmm, I don't think anyone'll try to catch a human, would they?"
"Lots of pokéballs are thrown at Pokémon, maybe one of them'll hit you by accident and you'll be caught."
"Like me?" Clefable chimed in.
"No, clefable, Red's a nice boy remember? We're talking about the Team, Meany guys or something," Eevee answered.
"You mean Team Rocket?"
"*sigh*. Yes, yes I do, wait a minute, when did you get out of your pokéball?"
"mmm, I don't know."
"Back on da topic," Meowth ordered. "Don't have a trainer, dey'd drive ya crazy."
"Does that make you crazy?" Clefable asked calmly.
"Wha'? No, I'm not crazy i-"
"You have a trainer."
"Yeah but… I… you… d-dey… ya know what? Do what ya want, I don't know anymo'e," Meowth said in defeat.
"Much better," Clefable said calmly.
"When did Meowth get outta his pokéball?" Ditto asked.
"Mm, I don't know," Clefable answered.
"Is everyone outta their pokéballs but are just hiding so we wouldn't see them?"
"Yes."
"Figures. Anyway," Ditto moved on. " who do you think should be my trainer? If I decide to have one, of course."
"Ash," Pikachu and Eevee exclaimed.
"No," Ditto said. "I already transform into him, maybe later."
"Red isn't an option," Pika excluded.
"Why?"
"You're playful and wanna be free and stuff," Pika started. "But Red has this… weird, power, commanding thing going on with his Pokémon. He just kinda, sends you an order in your mind and you have to obey. Don't try it, it's weird."
"O… kay?" Ditto moved on. "That only leaves Leaf. She has to catch me," Ditto immediately transformed into Leaf and left the room, calling. "LE-E-EAF!"
"DITTO, WAIT!" Eevee called after Ditto. "YOU TRANSFORM INTO LEAF TOO!"
(I still don't get why does transforming into someone exclude them. Any ideas?)
Horizontal line. -
Ash, Red, Leaf and Brock were just sitting in the waiting room waiting for their Pokémon to heal. Because after they did not find Petrel, trainers around the city requested to battle them, excluding Brock of course. They accepted, and everyone defeated the trainer opposing them. Ditto interrupted their thoughts as he entered the room calling. "LEAF!"
"What?" Leaf asked, worry starting to build up do to Ditto's running like this.
Suddenly, his mood changed to excited. "So I had this chat with the Pokémon and they suggested I get a trainer I didn't want at first but Eevee convinced me and suggested Ash but I said no because I transform into him a lot so I decided to ask you, would you catch me?" he started gasping for air, tired from the barrage of words he said.
"Sure, but Ditto? You're transformed into me right now, so uh, if you say you don't wanna go with Ash because of that, you can't go with me," Leaf pointed out.
"Yeah but-… oh, huh, you're right, so what do I do?"
"Don't get a trainer?" Red suggested.
"I don't like it when I can't have something, I need to find a trainer," Ditto said, desperately.
(Note to self: OK, so if I want Ditto to do something, I say hey Ditto, don't do that thing I want you to do, you're not allowed to do it)
The group of humans stared at him.
"What?" he asked.
"Wow! You're so good at acting!" Ash said, impressed.
"It's my specialty, faking and transformation," Ditto said smiling, happy for the complement. The smile disappeared a second later, replaced by the same desperate expression. "Please, you've gotta give me a trainer, I wanna get stronger."
(But he's a Ditto)
"You can come with me," Red suggested.
"Maybe another time."
"Do you want one of us to train you?" Ash asked thoughtfully.
"Yeah. You're the only people who I met after I escaped Team Rocket and all, so…"
"Alright, you told us you'd think about it, not go embarrass a ten-year-old human in the Pokémon Center. And why are you so desperate to get a trainer now?" a Pikachu asked from behind Ditto.
"Red said I shouldn't have a trainer, I don't like it when I'm prevented from doing something," Ditto explained. "I have to get a trainer!"
"I knew it, reverse psychology wins!" Eevee said triumphantly.
"How do you know about that?" Pika wondered. "And what does it have to do with any of this?"
"It's a secret!"
"Leaf," Bulbasaur suggested, pointing.
"Leaf I'm coming with you, and you know what? Use me in your rematch versus Misty," Ditto declared.
"OK, deal. I'll just go get my backpack and-"
"Oh I'll get it," Ditto said, transforming into a pidgeot, he took off at the speed of light, and flew with all his might, not preparing for a fight.
Five seconds later, Leaf's backpack was in her hand, shaking.
Ditto transformed back. "Now catch me."
Leaf pulled out a Pokéball from her backpack. "Pokéball, go!" Leaf said, throwing a pokéball at Ditto, who transformed into himself and let the ball catch him.
*ding* Ditto was caught.
Ditto immediately burst out of the ball.
"Yup, I'm not going back in there," he told the Pokémon, who were staring at him. "What?"
"Aren't ya gonna transfo'm or somethin'?" Meowth asked in Pokémon language. "You look really…"
"Oh," Ditto transformed into Ash. "Alright, Leaf caught me!" he said, pausing a catching pause like Ash's. "And Meowth, you can speak Pokémon?"
"Duh, I'm a Pokémon."
"Oh!" Ditto remembered. "So Leaf, first off, don't put me in this thing. Secont, can you use me in the gym?"…
Leaf decided after minimal to no convincing to let Ditto battle. She already knew how useful he can be, especially with his "By Memory Transforming", he could transform to Pokémon he had understood the so called way they work, whatever that meant. Anyway, so she decided to use him.
They trained to explore how useful his power could be before they went. It turned out that the Pokémon Center had a small battlefield, and people used it to train.
"So, what first?" Ditto, as Leaf, asked.
"First, show me how fast can you transform," Leaf replied.
"I transform in front of you all the time."
"When you're caught by surprise, Bulbasaur, use Razor Leaf!"
Ditto became a small stone. But the Razor Leafs hit him anyway.
Ditto became Leaf again. "so?"
"Yup. That's fast, what moves can you use?" Leaf asked.
"I can use-"
"Other than the scary face."
"I wasn't gonna say that. I can… well that depends, what Pokémon do you want me to transform into?"
"Pika."
"Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, Quick Attack," Ditto transformed into Red's pikachu to show Leaf his moves. He used Thunderbolt, then sent himself flying with Iron Tail, then hit Bulbasaur with a Quick Attack that sent the grass-type tumbling to the ground. He transformed back to Leaf. "This is for the Razor Leafs."
"I deserved that," Bulbasaur said disappointedly.
"Now?" Ditto asked.
"You know Pika's Quick Attack wasn't that fast right? How were you so fast?" Leaf wondered.
"Hey, what do you expect from a Pokémon experimented on by an evil organization that's -obsessed- with making strong Pokémon, sorry, 'killing tools' for evil purposes, to be weaker than a sponge?"
"Fair enough. Now, Transform into Bulbasaur."
Ditto transformed into Bulbasaur.
"Use Razor Leaf!" Leaf commanded. Ditto used his Razor Leaf, sharp leafs filled the air and shot toward the real Bulbasaur. "Use your own Razor Leaf!" Leaf told Bulbasaur. Like Ditto before, Bulbasaur used Razor Leaf, and his was identical but in the same time weaker than Ditto's. Ditto's leafs overpowered Bulbasaur's, and hit the grass-type, and she yelped in surprise. "OP," Leaf decided. "Let's go to the gym."
Ditto became Leaf. "Aren't you gonna ask Ash and Red to go with you?"
"Oh yeah"…
They went to the gym.
Ditto played a prank on Misty's sisters, which Misty gladly watched.
Then Leaf challenged Misty to another battle, and requested it would be with Starmie, much to no one's surprise. Goldeen was a "drilling" poké machine, there was no way Leaf would battle her and risk Horn Drill hitting again.
"Alright, rematch, Leaf vs Misty, Leaf wins, she gets the Cascade badge, she loses, we're just gonna have to come back – I mean don't lose that, BATTLE BEGIN!" Red called.
(Good refereeing Red, good Refereeing!)
Anyway.
"Starmie, Swift!" Misty called out, her voice echoing through the gym. Instantly, a barrage of energy stars shot forth from Starmie, pelting Ditto in his normal form. Each star hit with force, creating a dazzling display of lights. Reacting quickly, Leaf issued a command to her Pokémon.
"Transform!"
Ditto became a duplication of Starmie.
"Ditto, use Psychic!" Leaf called. Psychic energy radiated from Ditto as he concentrated. He used telekinesis to reach Starmie and raise it above the water as he felt a psychic boost with his concentration. He continued mischievously tossing the Pokémon into the air, and when it was about to touch the water, it bounced on the air like a trampoline, hit the roof, and cried helplessly.
"Starmie, use your psychic abilities to break free!" Misty called concernedly.
"Right," Starmie obeyed, glowing with energy that contradicted Ditto's psychic one. The two Pokémon fought psychically, struggling to get to the other one. Every time one of them seemed to get the other's power weakened, the other pushed stronger, stronger, and stronger. The two Pokémon cried in pain as they both released each other from their mental hold. Starmie fell in the pool, while Ditto appeared shaky, if his expression could be seen, it would have been dizziness.
"ahh," Ditto sighed. "I'm… OK."
"Ditto, you –" Ditto swam in an "I'm OK" way, determinedly, his unsteadiness disappearing as he swam quickly. "Oh, kay, then use Swift!" Leaf ordered, her voice brimming with confidence.
"Right!" Ditto called. Ditto released stars of energy into the pool as his body glowed with an eerie sense of concentration. Starmie was struck by the stars which were moving in an ordered fashion, as though by some enigmatic force. Starmie cried in shock at first because of how quickly the stars came at it, but later in pain because of the onslaught of stars coming its way.
"Starmie, stop them with -your- Swift!" Misty called.
"SWIIIFT!" Starmie complied, emanating stars of energy. The energy stars emanating from Starmie collided with the oncoming Swift attack from Ditto. The clash between the two torrents of stars created an incredible display of light and power. While most of the stars collided and exploded in an intense spectacle, a few managed to break through the opposition's defense. The remaining stars streaked toward their targets, finding their mark with a forceful impact. The resounding cries of both Pokémon filled the air as they felt the force of the strikes.
"Psychic, now, use it on the water!" Leaf called out. Ditto complied and used his psychic abilities to raise a tremendous amount of water from the pool, leaving almost only a quarter of the water in it inside it, while turning the rest into into a giant ocean wave. "Now, drop it on Starmie!" Ditto shook the water around and nearly dropped it on purpose, scaring Starmie with it before.
*WAVE CRASH*
With a force that shook the entire gym, Ditto violently dropped the water on Starmie. As it was trampled under the pool's water, Starmie cried out in pure pain. The water splashed all around the pool, and the waves that followed were proof of the pool's destructive collision with itself.
"Starmie, no! Quick, use Recover!" Misty called hopefully.
At the sound of its trainer's call, Starmie's body began to glow with a soft, blue light. The calming aura washed over the injured Pokémon, filling it with a sense of peace and well-being. Starmie let out a happy cry as its health began to restore. With renewed strength, it swam up to face Ditto again.
"Ditto, Water Gun!" Leaf commanded.
"Here it comes, *Water*," Ditto said, apparently calmly. Shooting water strongly. The water collided with Starmie, and Starmie felt its power. Starmie resisted water though, and it did not leave Starmie in pain, the water only damaged it slightly.
"That all you got?" Starmie taunted.
"You haven't seen anything yet," Ditto replied smugly, he was not that confident, but he could show Starmie a thing or two.
"Alright Ditto, transform into Pika!" Leaf called.
Pika's copy appeared in the water.
While it was true that Ditto was able to transform into Pokémon by memory, he could not keep it for long, a few moves and he needed to switch. Also it takes a lot of stamina. Facts he sadly discovered the hard way a long time ago, a time he wished to forget most of, excluding the abilities he gained during it.
"Pikachu!" Ditto cried.
Pika looked at his copy in the water and side deeply. "I feel sorry for Ash. Ditto transformed into me once and I feel weird, so what about him?"
"Iron Tail!" Leaf called.
"Here, some of what I've got!" Ditto said, swimming swiftly in the water, having no trouble. Once Ditto was close enough, Starmie was struck by his tail, which was glowing with metallic energy as it approached him, sending Starmie flying toward a platform by the side of the pool.
"You have a strong tail," Starmie said mysteriously.
"And a strong electric attack," Ditto added determinately.
"Psychic!" Misty ordered. Ditto felt a surge of fear as he braced himself for the attack. He knew that he had to focus all of his energy on dodging the attack, or he would be defeated. He closed his eyes and concentrated. The Psychic attack hit, and Ditto felt a wave of pain wash over him. He felt like his mind had been ripped apart. He screamed in agony as he struggled to stay conscious. Starmie stopped, taking Ditto by surprise, He did not react in time to Starmie's quick raising of the pool's water, and also when he was lifted from the water. Starmie raised him up and up, until he was close to the ceiling, then redirected him, and the water, and rammed him into it. The water was psychically controlled, so it did not fall at impact, nor was crashing into it as soft as normal, oh! No, it hurt, it felt like cement on a wall, falling after being dried for no apparent reason, then after it, the entire wall collapses to reveal a giant truck that also falls, everything on Ditto, in his actual form, the fragile one.
"AHHH!"
Uh-oh!
That Misty girl wanted to defeat Ditto really bad.
Ditto collided with the water a second, third, fourth time, and so on. The pain was unbearable, it had to stop. `So, much, pain,` Ditto thought. `This has to stop, a solution, anything!`
Leaf did not just stand and watch of course, but she was trying to make a plan. `Plan, plan, water, electricity won't work, the water is being controlled. I can't tell Ditto to transform, it'd be useless. Something to stop this psychic mess. Wait, it's psychic!`
"Ditto, Iron Tail!"
Ditto struggled. "It's not working!"
"Don't try to hit the water. Just… let the steal-type energy build up in you!" Leaf called, seeing Ditto trying to move his tail against the psychic force.
"Okay," Ditto mustered his resolve, channeling the steel energy into his tail. Starmie exerted its control, maneuvering Ditto closer to the water. Panic surged within Ditto, realizing the imminent danger. `I trust Leaf… She knows what she's doing, right?` `Right?` With every inch closer to the water, the urgency intensified. `I need to use Iron Tail now! Wait… is my tail… free?` Sensing the surge of power within his hardened tail, Ditto knew he had to unleash the Iron Tail. He directed his tail towards the water, but before he could strike.
"No, Ditto, not yet!" Leaf called.
Ditto heard this, and knew Leaf lost it. `I'm about to hit psychic-controlled water, and she's telling me to wait? What's gotten into her?`
Closer.
Closer.
And!
"NOW, IRON TAIL!" Leaf called, with the world's resolve.
Ditto swung his tail into the solidified water, and his tail crashed into the destructive solid water that was not ice. A crashing sound could be heard like a weak thunder in a storm, and a cracking sound followed. The water was not solid anymore, and it and Ditto plummeted into the pool.
"*tired cry *," Starmie cried.
"Alright, it worked!" Leaf exclaimed.
On the sidelines, Ash wondered. "How did she do that?"
"Steal's super affective against psychic, so she made Ditto use it to break free," Red answered quickly. (huh, just like the anime.. kind of)
Back on the battlefield.
"Alright, Thunderbolt," Leaf called.
"Starmie, fly up!" Misty called.
"Wait what?"
(I thought that's only in, Pokémon Snap ?)
Starmie swam forward with incredible speed. "Wait for it!" Misty called.
Ditto, cheeks crackling with electric energy, readied himself to unleash Thunderbolt. The anticipation filled the air as he prepared to release the powerful electric attack.
"Wait for it!"
(She's not in an action movie)
With a cry, Ditto released Thunderbolt. The electric attack was approaching Starmie fast, but Starmie still swam, but changed direction. The attack followed by expanding, and was about to hit Starmie when.
"Now, up!" Misty called.
Starmie cried out, propelling itself upward with determination, evading the electric attack. Its shimmering form remained focused, defying gravity as it maintained its ascent. The electric attack passed beneath Starmie, the surge of energy grazing its underside, eliciting a pained cry. However, Starmie found solace in the knowledge that the attack had been weakened. `Thank you god!`
"Alright, good job, now Recover!" Misty called.
Starmie's body began to emit a soothing, azure glow. The gentle aura enveloped the injured Pokémon, mending its wounds and replenishing its strength. Starmie let out a contented cry as its health steadily restored."Much better."
"Water G-oh wait, it's a Pikachu, use Swift!" Misty called.
"SWIIIFT!" Starmie let a barrage of stars towards Ditto, who stood there, not doing a thing.
`What should I do, I can't copy the super cool move from Eevee, he doesn't know it, I can copy swift though!` Ditto thought, and transformed into Eevee.
"Yeah, good job, Swift!" Leaf called.
"Right!" Ditto obeyed, and another Swift clash happened.
This time, triumph was for Ditto. Overwhelming Starmie, the stars sent by Ditto didn't waver or slow down upon colliding with Starmie's. Instead, they erupted with explosive force, obliterating Starmie's stars. The stellar projectiles continued their unyielding path toward Starmie, striking it repeatedly with laser-like precision. Each hit resounded with a small explosion, *Boom, boom, boom,* and Starmie cried out in exhaustion. Despite its recovery, the onslaught of stars proved too much to bear.
"Ditto, use Quick Attack!" Leaf called out.
"And let's go!" Ditto called, dashing, or swimming towards Starmie with ease, leaving a trail of normal-type energy in his way. When he reached Starmie, he exclaimed. "Take this!" and hit Starmie with everything he got.
Ditto started inhaling and exhaling quickly.
"Ditto, transform into Starmie!" Leaf called, seeing Ditto's exhaustion.
"Finally!" Ditto said in relief. Ditto became Starmie. "That's so much better!" he could finally stop feeling this pressure, a pressure of a hard transformation.
"Psychic! FULL POWER!" / "PSYCHIC! WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!" both humans called.
A clash of psychic forces ensued, with both Pokémon exerting themselves to gain dominance over the other. Their bodies emitted a radiant glow, their cries resounding as they struggled to suppress their opponent. However, a stalemate persisted.
`No, I won't let it be a stalemate, I'm gonna do better, I want to win, I want to win,` Ditto thought. With a surge of mental power, Ditto's psychic abilities intensified, fueled by his own thoughts and desire for victory. His glow grew brighter, overpowering Starmie and asserting dominance. He raised Starmie into the air, holding it in his psychic grasp for a brief moment before releasing it back into the pool. The effort left Ditto fatigued but dominant.
"Now, finish it off, go Pika!" Leaf ordered.
"Right," Ditto became Pika.
"Thunderbolt, LET'S GOOO!" Leaf and Ditto called out in unison.
A cry of the name let everyone know his attack had already formed in him. "TAKE, THIS, YOU PSYCHIC STARFISH!" he let the Thunderbolt out, and electricity buzzed in the air as it headed to Starmie. The Mysterious Pokémon watched helplessly and exhaustedly as the electric-type attack came thundering his way. It had used psychic energy against Ditto more than it should have, and it was exhausted, it could not fight the incoming attack.
*BOOM, BUZZ*
With a resounding BOOM and a crackling buzz, electricity surged into Starmie's body, coursing through its form. Overwhelmed and exhausted, Starmie could no longer bear the strain. Collapsing into the pool, its core ceased to emit its characteristic glow, signaling Starmie's defeat and inability to continue the battle. The energy had drained from the once-vibrant Pokémon, leaving it inert and defeated.
"Starmie's unable to battle, Ditto wins, the match goes to Leaf!" Red called, ending the battle.
"ALRIGHT!" Leaf exclaimed, filled with excitement and a sense of accomplishment.
"Now with that outta the way," Ditto said, emerged from the water and transformed into Leaf, expressing his enjoyment of the battle. "This, was, so, cool!"
"you liked it?" Leaf questioned, smiling.
"absolutely totally yes! I wanna do it again!" Ditto exclaimed, then looked exhausted. "After I take a rest," he decided, reverting back to his original form and collapsing, or something close to it.
Concerned for her Pokémon, Leaf reached for Ditto's Poké Ball, but hesitated. She remembered that Ditto didn't like being confined in the Poké Ball. Instead, she decided to carry him in her arms. (I'm not going to comment on that, it's normal, it's a Ditto carried by itt trainer)
On the other side of the battlefield.
"Thanks Starmie!" Misty praised, smiling. "You did your best!" she told Starmie.
"Sorry to disappoint you," Starmie apologized.
"Return," Misty returned Starmie to its Poké Ball, acknowledging its efforts. She then walked over to Leaf, carrying a Cascade badge in her hand. "Congratulations, Leaf! You've earned this Cascade badge," she said, extending the badge and handing it to Leaf.
Leaf's face lit up with joy and gratitude. It finally sunk in that she had emerged victorious in the battle, earning her second gym badge. "Thanks!" she exclaimed, her smile shining brightly.
Misty, again, decided to go with the group to heal Starmie, they handed their Pokémon to Nurse Joy in the Pokémon Center and waited.
"What's up with the victory pauses?" Misty asked, remembering the pauses of Ash, Red, and Leaf when they won.
"What's wrong with them?" Red asked.
"Nothing. I'm just curious, people usually just make a HI five with their Pokémon or something."
"Oh. Yeah one of us had the idea some time ago, so we used it."
"Oh…"
"Scary Face!" Ditto exclaimed, jumping in the room.
"No don't," Red stopped Ditto.
"Kidding," Ditto said innocently, making an innocent face in Ash's form. "So, now that you three won your second badges if I'm correct, where are you going next?"
"I suggest you go check Vermilion," Misty suggested.
"Why? Aren't there some closer gyms?" Ash asked.
"It's not about that. It's because in the Pokémon league meetings, they tell us to suggest a gym to the trainers, which is usually the super effective type against our gyms, so."
"So it's either grass or electric?"
"It's electric," Red told.
"Pikachu, your time to shine," Ash said proudly.
"Why? Electric resists electric," Ditto pointed out.
"Exactly. If Pikachu defeats this gym, he'll be the strongest electric-type in the entire region."
"What about Zapdos?"
"Zapdos lives in the Orange islands."
"That's a part of the Kanto region, I think."
"Well he'll be the strongest other than legendaries!"
"What about Raichu?"
"Don't say that name," Pikachu exploded.
"WHAT THE-" Ditto was scared, and everyone was too. Pikachu's burst of sudden rage was not what they were used to seeing from the Pokémon.
"Never, and I mean never, compare me to a Raichu," Pikachu stated angrily.
He suddenly went calm again.
…
*Silence.*
"Pikachu says to not compare him to Raichu," Ditto translated after calming down. "Oh, and Misty?"
"Yeah?" Misty looked at Ditto.
"Here's Starmie's pokéball, sorry, I forgot to give it to you before," Ditto apologized, handing the girl her pokéball.
"Thanks!"
"So we're going to Vermilion!" Leaf decided.
"Alright!" Ash exclaimed.
Red smiled.
(But what about Brock you ask? Well, he is the one who got Ditto in the room, then went to play.. yeah, play and help nurse Joy.
OK, yeah, he went to do something wrong, OK?)
It had been two days since the group left Cerulean, and Red was keeping them training, or as Ditto liked to put it, his fun running time with his trainer and friends. Pikachu's actions have not changed, but he was more determined to learn Thunderbolt. He would ask Pika for advice, and Pika would try to help him, but for some reason, Pikachu could not learn Thunderbolt. But back to where we catch up with the group, they were standing there, looking at some unofficial gym.
|The trainer who never lost a match gym. *note, this gym is unofficial, unlicensed by the league, so if you're a trainer that doesn't wanna cry, and just wanna get a badge for free, then go to actual gyms.*|
"Wow, I never knew people could open gyms by themselves," Leaf commented.
"It's an unofficial gym," Brock pointed out.
"That's not the point."
"Let's go check it out," Ash declared.
They agreed and entered the gym.
They saw a boy and a yellow-furred, bipedal Pokémon. It was shaped like a ball and had three distinct features: blue, almond-shaped eyes, a pointed snout, and triangular ears. It stood on four legs. And it had a thick, conical tail. A Sandshrew.
"Are you the trainer who didn't lose any match?" Ash asked.
The boy nodded. "Hmm, the name's AJ."
"Akira?" Ditto asked.
"AJ," the boy replied.
"They're the same."
"What?"
"Ignore him, your winning streak's about to end," Red told AJ, determinedly.
"We'll see about that, Sandshrew, go!" AJ ordered, and sandshrew rolled into the battlefield.
"Pika, wanna give it a shot?" Red asked.
"Let's thunder," Pika replied nodding. He then jumped from Red's shoulder onto the gym battlefield.
"What's up with the phrase?" Eevee asked in confusion.
"It's a phrase," Pika replied simply.
"Are you serious?" AJ asked annoyed. "You're sending a Pikachu against a Sandshrew? Where did you learn to battle?"
"Yes, I'm serious. And yes, I send Pika to battle your Sandshrew. And I learned in the same place where I learned how to defeat a rock ground-type with an electric-type," Red replied simply.
AJ looked thoughtful, then shrugged. "Just a one on One?"
Red nodded.
"Sandshrew, Rollout! Now!" AJ commanded, and the Sandshrew began rapidly rolling toward Pika. Red ordered Pika to use Iron Tail.
"Whoa rolling ball, calm down, Iron Tail!" Pika called as he prepared to strike, his tail shimmered with metallic brilliance as he swung it toward Sandshrew. When the Iron Tail hit, *Crash* Sandshrew was sent sauring thrue the air.
"Are you going to let your Pikachu do everything without giving commands?" AJ asked tauntingly.
"I give commands, I just don't voice them," Red replied, ordering Pika to use Quick Attack.
"How does that-" AJ was interrupted when Pika propelled himself towards the still-rolling Sandshrew, colliding with a resounding thud. However, this time, it was Pika who was sent hurtling backward.
"Like this," Red ordered an Iron Tail. Pika's tail radiated with a luminous metallic glow as he patiently awaited Sandshrew's approach.
"hahahaha, you expect me to fall into this trap?" AJ taunted. (What trap?) "Sandshrew, Fissure!"
Uh-oh!
OK, so you know Horn Drill, right? No?Well go back and read it because Fissure is literally the same but ground-type.
A gaping fissure materialized on the battlefield. Just as Pika was about to strike Sandshrew with his Iron Tail, the ground crumbled beneath him, swallowing the electric mouse whole.
He fainted.
He was thrown out, conscious but in pain and agony.
"Pika, you alright?" Red asked, worry flooding him.
"I need medicine," Pika answered.
"My ninety-eighth victory!" AJ exclaimed in triumph.
"What just happened?" Ash asked completely bewildered.
"Fissure is like Horn Drill," Brock said, which gave Ash all the information he needed.
"Oh."
"Alright, that's one of you five down, who's next," AJ asked.
"Me!" Ash said. "Caterpie, go!"
"I'm starting to think you're just making fun of me," AJ said annoyed, seeing caterpie materialize.
"String Shot!"
"Right, take this!" Caterpie exclaimed, and without hesitation, he unleashed a sticky white string from his mouth, skillfully ensnaring Sandshrew, who growled and struggled against the constraints.
"Let go," Sandshrew growled, struggling.
"N-no, I-I don't want to… String Shot again!" Caterpie stammered nervously. He expelled another round of sticky silk, artfully wrapping Sandshrew like a peculiar present. "Ooh, cool! I like that," Caterpie exclaimed, momentarily forgetting his apprehension.
" Fissure," AJ bellowed.
In an instant, a gaping fissure materialized, threatening to swallow Caterpie whole. But Ash quickly seized the opportunity. "Use String Shot to make Sandshrew fall instead!" he urgently instructed.
Before Caterpie could fall, he dragged Sandshrew and dropped it into the fissure, causing it and its trainer to scream in fear. Once Caterpie was sure Sandshrew fell in, he let go of the String Shot and turned and ran like there was no tomorrow towards Ash.
"AHHH! *Gasping quickly*," Caterpie exclaimed, overcome with terror.
"Hey, calm down, your not in the fissure," Pikachu called from Ash's shoulder.
"Yeah but Sandshrew's gonna eat me when it gets out!" Caterpie protested.
"He's fainted, don't worry," Eevee interjected, offering solace.
Caterpie's frantic breathing began to subside as he registered the situation. Caterpie stopped gasping and looked around, confused. "uh? Wait, does that mean I just won a battle?"
"Yeah," Eevee and Pikachu replied in unison, smiling.
AJ, left bewildered, couldn't help but ask, "What was that? How did your Caterpie defeat my Sandshrew like that?" (Baffledly works to describe AJ's expression.)
"Well, technically, your Sandshrew defeated itself with the fissure," Ditto pointed out.
"Oh yeah…- WAIT, ARE YOU IMPLYING IT WAS MY FAULT?"
"Nope. I just said, 'Your Sandshrew defeated itself with the Fissure,' I didn't say 'Hey Akira, you shouldn't have told Sandshrew to use Fissure,' these are two different things, but since you said it yourself…" Ditto grinned.
"Who is that Akira, and no it wasn't my fault, it was Sandshrew's, he fell in the hole!" AJ shouted, his face becoming like fire.
"Sorry, I meant AJ. And blame it on him, sure, you're not the weak guy who depends on one hit KO moves to win against a caterpie!" Ditto started to clap.
Sandshrew was thrown out of the fissure.
It groaned. "Is this what it feels like falling in a Fissure? I'd rather get back to being whipped instead," it commented in pain. "Sorry, Pikachu I threw in!"
Pika accepted the apology. "It's OK, I-"
"Wait a minute, stop," Ditto interrupted Pika, he then looked at Sandshrew. "You said you'd rather be whipped instead, what did you mean?" he asked seriously.
"Did you just understand-"
"Answer me."
"OK, OK, AJ uses a whip sometimes if he thinks I'm weak, it's to make me stronger," Sandshrew answered.
Ditto looked at AJ. "YOU whip YOUR POKÉMON BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY'RE WEAK? YOU MONSTER!" he shouted, turning on scary mode.
"How did you understand him?" AJ asked confusedly.
"THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU? HOW I UNDERSTOOD HIM? WHY, WOULD YOU,whip, YOUR, POKÉMON!?"
"None of your business!" AJ retorted.
"Oh, it is, trust me," Ditto replied darkly. His anger was boiling like lava, but diciding to have a revenge his way. He ran further in the gym, passing AJ, but not giving him time to say a word. He did not reply to the others asking where was he going, he searched left and right, trying to find that `Stupid wip`, and he found it at last. An evil chuckle escaped him when he grabbed it. `It's true, I hate evil; Team Rocket and every evil. But that doesn't mean I can't act evil if I need to!` when he ran back, he saw everyone like before, Leaf and Ash angry, Red standing there, arguing with AJ, and Sandshrew on the ground. "Would you like to be wipped?" he asked, grinning evilly.
"What?" AJ asked, turning. "Wha-, where did you find this?"
"It's not important is it? I have it, and I want you to be my puppet."
"I'm no one's puppet."
"I'll whip you with this thing day and night if you don't do what I want!" Ditto threatened, raising the wip.
AJ tried to get the whip, but Ditto prevented him, he tackled AJ to the ground.
"AH!" AJ yelled in pain. "How's a ten-year-old doing this?."
"He's doing it, so it isn't important. Now, how fast would you like me to whip you?" Ditto asked darkly.
"Don't, please!"
"Don't whip your Pokémon, they feel exactly the same as you do right now. We-, they have feelings you know."
"But I don't see them cry in pane!"
"Are you crying right now? They don't cry because they want to prove to you they're tough, that doesn't mean they're invincible, understand that, or else you're not a Pokémon trainer, you're not even a human."
AJ did not reply.
"Are you a human?" Ditto continued.
AJ nodded.
"Good," Ditto dropped the whip. "Now, get up!"
"*relief sigh*," AJ got up, thankful. "For a second there I thought I was doomed."
"It's a whip," Ditto pointed out, turning off scary mode.
AJ turned to Sandshrew, who was watching in disbelief as the guy who whipped him before begged for forgiveness, and apologized to it. Eventually, it forgave him.
"You're scary when you're angry, you know that?" Caterpie whispered to Ditto when he made his way back.
"Mm-hmm. I needed to do something about this, we're not tools to use, or anything like that, we're creatures, like him, and like every other, why can't humans accept this?" Ditto whispered back.
"Well, some do."
"I know. And it's a relief."
"Yeah. But let's look at the bright side of things, away from sad things ," Pika requested. "Congratulations Caterpie, you've actually defeated Sandshrew two minutes ago!"
"Oh yeah, congratulations!" Ditto said, smiling cheerfully.
Caterpie looked in confusion again. "uh?"
"What?"
"Wait, I did. It's not a trick or something, right?"
"Yes."
If caterpie could fill the gym with his happiness right then, he would. And he would tear the gym apart as well. "I WON, I WON, I, REALLY, REALLY WON!" he exclaimed. "I WOOOON!" his body started to glow in a bright light, the light submerged his entire body, a light that pulsated happiness for the watchers, every one of the group.
It was evolution time!
"Caterpie's evolving!" Brock observed.
"Wow!" Ash, Red, and Leaf gasped.
The group watched in awe and joy as Caterpie continued his evolution. And waited with anticipation as well.
after the light faded, they saw a metapod. It was like a green chrysalis. Its body was crescent-shaped, and the lower point was made up of several segments. Its shell had a face appearance from the front, with heavy-lidded eyes and a slender, pointed nose.
"Wow, congratulations Caterpie, you evolved into Metapod!" Ash exclaimed.
"Pod," Metapod said neutrally.
"This's the second time someone does that, what's wrong with you people?" Eevee asked, wondering why did Metapod say something unintelligible like Kakuna did. "Never mind *sigh*."
After Metapod's evolution, AJ talked with the group. They apologized for Ditto's actions, and AJ excused them as Ditto had a point. Then, he asked them about better ways of training, and Red gave him multiple. Afterward, the group and AJ ate a delicious meal made by Brock, and it was time to leave.
"Try not to hurt your Pokémon OK?" Ditto requested.
"OK, OK, don't worry," AJ chuckled.
"See you in the Pokémon league?" Ash asked with a smile.
"Well, that's… a good question," AJ hesitated.
"hmm?" Ash questioned.
"Since you beat me, I need to get another hundred victories. And that's.. not that easy."
"Wait, why would you wanna get more hundred victories? Aren't ninety-eight enough?"
"No. I want to be strong, stronger then everyone. So I Wanna get a hundred victories before I get my first badge. And if a –Caterpie- defeated my –Sandshrew-, that's not a… good sign."
"But power isn't everything," Leaf chimed in.
"Yeah, Caterpie, a -bug-type-, defeated your –Sandshrew- by strategy," Red added his agreement.
"So don't count Ash's battle and just move on to your ninety-ninth victory," Ditto added as summary.
"You think so?" AJ asked.
"Not exactly, but yeah," every human other than AJ said in unison.
"Alright then, which one of you should I battle next?" AJ asked good-humoredly.
"Run!" Ash exclaimed, suddenly turning on his heels and dashing away.
"WAIT FOR US!" Brock called out, chasing after Ash.
"I have gym badges to earnthank you! Bye AJ!"
"Bye!" AJ replied.
With laughter echoing through the air, the entire group bid their farewells to AJ and sprinted after Ash, their spirits high and their bonds strengthened by their shared adventures.
"See you at the Pokémon League!" Ash, Red and Leaf called.
(I right A.J as AJ, Poké ball as pokéball and use other short cuts like that, it's easier this way. And Akira is AJ's name in Japanese by the way, I was thinking of another conclusion, so that is why I included it. It didn't work)
(it's a good thing I rated this fanfiction story T, am I right?)
Eevee: and that's it for today, and Giovanni still didn't make an appearance!
