A/N: Shoutout to Logan Jindrak X for using my OC for his latest chapter in the upcoming tournament! If you are reading this, thank you so much!
"Remind me why I agreed to join you on this field trip." Seth relented.
"Because it would be great!" Reptil insisted.
"Hmmmm, that sounds like you but I think it's because you suggested that we should go on it for 'extra credit'." Seth quoted.
Reptil had told Seth about a small field trip to one of the most dangerous places in the Marvel universe: the Savage Lands. A place where dinosaurs never went extinct and was considered a place to learn about 'survival of the fittest.' Seth was open to the idea but then decided he didn't want to. Reptil continued to insist and Seth eventually gave in. But now he was getting second thoughts.
"Well, you also have been trying to channel prehistoric spirits…" Reptil tried.
Seth was about to retort but fell silent. It was true. He was working on trying to discover how to use prehistoric spiritual animals alongside his modern day apparitions. However, he's had no luck so far.
That didn't stop him from trying though. He occasionally visited the Cretaceous period from 'Dinosaur' and practiced channeling prehistoric spirits but still no luck.
"I suppose that's fair but it's not just us, remember?" Seth said and jerked his thumb to an enormous red Tyrannosaurus Rex struggling within the aircraft.
"Moon Girl was the one that signed him up after some bugging to go back to his homeland for a while." Reptil reminded.
"The Savage Lands are technically Devil's home." Seth also recapped.
"Oh relax," The hispanic shapeshifter said, "We all have some sort of dinosaur based powers. And who knows? Maybe you will be able to unlock or harness some spirits of the extinct."
Seth rolled his eyes, ending up with them spotting the prehistoric land in the distance. "We're close."
Once the aircraft saw a faint landing area, it was parked and the guests disembarked, Devil had some difficulty but was able to get out and let out an excited roar at being home. A screen appeared and descended before turning on and revealing a pre-recorded message from Sam Wilson.
"Well, you are officially in the Savage Lands. A place where dinosaurs roam and you have to fend for yourself while surviving whatever Mother Nature throws at you. You will be spending 24 hours on this island. Don't worry though, you have bands on your wrist so we can monitor you and tell you how much time is left. As for Devil Dinosaur, yours is on your foot. Have one of the other students push it for you, in the event of an emergency. See you in 24 hours." The recording turned off and the jet left for the mainland.
"Okay, let's get started-" Seth started but noticed how Devil began to jerk his head around. "Ummm, Devil? You good?"
The red dinosaur was snorting and grunting as if something was wrong but then his eyes dilated and let out a terrifying roar.
"Seems Devil is going wild," Reptil joked but that was taken back when Devil tried to bite out of him. Reptil took to the skies with his pterosaur wings.
"What's gotten into him?" Seth asked, trying to figure out what was wrong. He turned into a Carnotaurus and let out a roar of his own. Devil saw the shapeshifter as an intruder and charged. Seth charged too and resulted in them getting into a headlock, pushing to establish dominance.
"Don't hurt him, Seth!" Reptil mentioned, "It's not his fault!"
Seth gave a complying grunt and went back to pushing. Devil -using his raw dinosaur strength- began to win and Seth was losing ground. Seeing this, Seth opted for a stronger and robust form, now as a Triceratops. They had a brief break away and Reptil came down as an Ankylosaurus, showing his tail in a warning scenario. Seth merely pawed the ground, daring the crazed dinosaur to attack.
Devil snarled and lunged which both shapeshifters responded with their own charge. The two herbivores met the theropod head-on, getting into another headlock. This time the two shapeshifters began to overwhelm Devil Dinosaur. The t-rex snarled as he was pushed more.
Seth and Reptil shared a brief glance, both snorting. While they were winning the fight now, they didn't want to hurt Devil. So lifting their heads, they managed to escape the battle as a Gallimimus and with Velociraptor legs respectively. Now using speed, they escaped as Devil re-positioned himself and realized their departure.
Devil Dinosaur snarled and sniffed the air, catching their scents. He was about to continue before an eerie voice rang in his head.
"Forget them for now… Your strength is needed elsewhere."
Devil heeded the voice and stomped off for the time being.
"So, are we going to talk about what made Devil view us as appetizers?" Seth remarked, hiding in the trees with Reptil. They had managed to get away from their prehistoric friend after bolting from the fight. A strategic retreat on their behalf as they didn't want to hurt Devil at all.
"Not sure what it could be. Primal instincts?" Reptil voiced.
"Nah, doesn't seem like it." Seth said before snapping his fingers. "I bet it's mind control." Then he groaned, "So cliche."
"But what supervillain has this much range in the Savage Lands?" Reptil questioned.
"I have one theory. I'll give you a hint: scaly, really obsessed with dinosaurs, and can cure cancer but decided not to." Seth remarked.
Reptil sighed, "Sometimes I wonder why he couldn't help humanity."
"He's a nutcase who got attacked by a Pteranodon." Seth said, "I think he lost all sense of his life when he decided to visit the Savage Lands." Seth then perked up and sniffed the area.
"What is it?" Reptil questioned.
"I'm getting a scent." Seth answered, sniffing the air again, "And it's… human? With a hint of feline." Morphing into a spider monkey, Seth lashed his prehensile tail and lowered himself to a decent level. He soon found the two scents he was looking for.
He saw a caveman with blonde hair, brown loincloth and leather boots. Around his neck was a necklace with prehistoric teeth. However, the caveman's friend caught his attention since it was a saber-toothed tiger.
The feline sniffed the air and began to pan his head towards Seth. The shapeshifter balked, pulled back into the tree and turned back into his human state.
"What did you see?" Reptil asked.
"A face in the Savage Lands that may help us." Seth responded.
"A primate on this side of the Savage Lands?" the primitive human inquired. "Are you sure, Zabu?" The saber-toothed growled, confirming that he was right.
"Let's go for broke." Seth said and dropped out of the trees. The caveman and saber armed themselves as Seth made placate gestures. "Easy. I didn't come here to fight. My friend thought I should go on this field trip."
"Really? It's like that?" Reptil quizzed as he followed Seth out the trees.
Zabu stalked carefully towards Seth, sniffing him before rubbing his head into Seth's chest.
"Odd. Zabu doesn't usually warm up to anyone that fast." The caveman said.
"I've been told I am an animal magnet." Seth offhandedly said as he scratched the smilodon beneath his mane. "You are… Ka-Zar right?"
"Yes. I am." Ka-Zar, inhabitant of the Savage Lands, confirmed.
Seth proceeded to introduce himself, "I'm Seth. This is Reptil." He gestured to the dinosaur changeling.
"Ah yes, I recall seeing you during the tournament. Why did you bring a dinosaur?" Ka-Zar asked. Seth proceeded to anime-fall at the question as Reptil gave sympathy pats on his shapeshifter friend.
"Moving along," Seth said and dusted himself off, "Why are you out and about?"
"I sensed a disturbance in the Savage Lands." Ka-Zar answered, "Zabu felt it too and we were searching for it. So far, it's led us nowhere."
Seth thought for a moment, "Maybe it's at the mountain?" He pointed to the landscape, "I pretty sure our source of disturbance pinpoints from there."
"A possibility. But we did not sense anything wrong there." Ka-Zar responded.
"We are on a prehistoric island. Trust me, a cave is the most direct place for an evil scientist to work. At least that's my theory."
"Sounds about right." Reptil admitted. He grew his pterosaur wings as Seth gestured to the Savage Land natives. "You'll need a ride. Hop on." Seth said as he turned into a Queztalcoatlus. With his large size, Ka-Zar and Zabu managed to fit as the two shapeshifters took off towards their destination.
Once they arrived at the mountain, the caveman and his feline brother disembarked while the shapeshifters turned back into humans.
"Zabu, can you pick up a scent?" Ka-Zar asked the saber. The smilodon sniffed the air before tracking a scent. The quartet followed the saber into a cave along the mountain and headed in.
After searching in the cave, the quartet eventually found steel floors and a laboratory. "This just screams evil scientist." Seth remarked. Zabu growled in agreement.
"What exactly are we going to find here?" Reptil asked, carefully opening the steel door. On a chalkboard were tons of equations and plenty of chemicals were on the counter top. There was another pair of doors that seemed to lead to a basement.
"Well, I'm not one for chemistry. Someone else would probably have better luck." Seth said, trying his best to read. After a few minutes, he shrugged, "Yeah, I don't understand any of this."
"Perhaps we need to head further down." Ka-Zar said as he opened the doors that lead to the basement. As they did, they went down stairs with proper torches lighting the way. Relying on stealth, they carefully made their way around and spotted several dinosaurs marching down a corridor.
"Dinosaurs here of all places?" Seth inquired. "What is that nutcase up to?"
"If he's mutating the dinosaurs, he could have a whole army to wreck havoc." Reptil surmised.
"All those in favor of putting a stop to it?" Seth rhetorically asked and the three humans raised their hands while Zabu gave an agreeing growl. The quartet followed the dinosaurs before peeling off and seeing another set of doors that caught their attention. They entered and were above on a balcony of the lab with many test tubes and chambers or cages where dinosaurs were being held. The beasts looked drained as they were held prisoner. From above, the quartet watched the madmen behind the dinosaurs' mind control behavior and exhausted states.
"How much longer… Do I have to wait?" A skull-faced monster with yellow eyes in a reptilian nature hissed. He was dressed in a black trenchcoat and had three clawed fingers.
"Patience," a humanoid stegosaur with orange scales said, "Finding the proper energy ssssssource for those gems is tricky enough."
"I thought you said with your brain and the pterodactyl's hypnosis, you could find one." The humanoid reptilian recapped.
"Believe me, Sssssssauron is doing his best. With your combined mental capabilities, the beasssssstssssss of these landssssss will find ssssssomething helpful." The humanoid stegosaur replied. The reptilian hissed, "He better… Then we can revert the world back to its prehistoric way."
"Is that… Mesogog?" Seth said, recognizing the dinosaur-themed villain from 'Power Rangers: Dino Thunder.'
"Not sure who that is but he's with Sauron." Reptil noted, "And that's a good enough reason to put the hurt on him."
"And not to mention Stegron." Seth also noted, seeing the dinosaur-themed supervillain, "C-list Spider-Man villain at best."
"I'm guessing with Mesagog's mind powers and Sauron's hypnosis, they put the dinosaurs into some sort of trance and then drain the lifeforce from the dinosaurs, using it as a source. Devil's mind control must have been a way of fighting back to prevent us from discovering this." Seth deduced.
"So this is the cause of all the wildlife going insane!" Ka-Zar realized and growled. Zabu shared the sediments.
"I guess those two were only targeting dinosaurs, not all prehistoric wildlife. Which is why Zabu and you are unaffected." Seth noted.
"And why Devil Dinosaur went into a frenzy the second we landed." Reptil added.
"So these creatures are responsible for the beasts going wild," Ka-Zar growled out.
"Yeah, and if Mesogog wants to revert the world back to the Mesozoic, he needs the Dino Gems. I'm guessing since the Savage Lands have some latent prehistoric energy or something." Seth realized.
"I have a new batch of dinosaurs!" the pterodactyl form of Sauron shrieked as he returned. Behind him were several other dinosaurs including Devil Dinosaur.
"It's Devil!" Reptil whispered-shouted.
"No time like the present to make an introduction." Seth remarked, having seen enough. Dropping to the floor, the quartet finally revealed themselves which prompted the dinosaur-themed villains to recognize them.
"Measly intruders." Mesogog hissed. Stegron and Sauron stood ready to attack as the heroes approached them.
"Sorry, bonehead," Seth snarked, "But I think we can't let you do that!" Seth morphed into a lion and let out a roar as Reptil became an Ankylosaurus. Zabu snarled while Ka-Zar brandished his spear.
"Tyrannodrones!" Mesogog ordered and the minions appeared. "Get them!" The dinosaur-cyborgs began to attack the quartet which was met with heavy resistance.
Seth lunged as a lion, clawing several Tyrannodrones down. Now as a bear, he let out a fierce roar and shoved three of the dinosaur-cyborgs away. He quickly turned into a donkey, kicking more down.
Reptil swung his tail all over the place, sending Tyrannodrones flying into the wall. Reptil proceeded to use his armored body to deal with any incoming attacks, which merely bounced off his armor.
Ka-Zar twirled his spear, smacking any Tyrannodrones that attacked. Zabu slashed and bit his way through the Tyrannodrones as they got too close.
Reptil swung his tail back and forth before Stegron entered the fray. Using his strength, the stegosaur villain caught the tail and used Reptil's momentum to throw the shapeshifter around. He slammed him into the ground, getting a roar of pain from Reptil who reverted back to his human form and was pinned down by Tyrannodrones as Mesogog caught him in a telepathic daze.
Sauron swooped in and began to claw at Ka-Zar, who held his spear in a defensive position. Sauron had Ka-Zar on the ropes briefly before Zabu tried to pounce on the pterodactyl mutant. Sauron flew back up and used his fire breath, causing the Savage Lands inhabitants to back away. Sauron then used his claws and slashed at the two, knocking them back and into a circle of flames.
Seth was becoming overwhelmed by the amount of Tyrannodrones swarming him, even becoming a Tyrannosaurus Rex that was hit with a brief psionic blast from Mesogog that rendered him to get overwhelmed.
"Hmmm, your powers are most… interesting." Mesogog rasped as he had his powers to render Seth and Reptil immobile. "You probably have some latent… prehistoric energy to fuel my Dino Gems."
"Still… obsessed with the prehistoric era, I see." Seth quipped as he strained from the psionic blast.
"Of course…" Mesogog hissed, "Once I regain the Dino Gems their proper power, I will terraform the entire world into… my prehistoric domain."
"We'll see… about that!" Seth shouted and broke free from the mental attack. He turned into a bull, snorting before charging into Mesogog. The reptilian villain held his ground, catching Seth mid-charge. Seth aimed to put more pressure, managing to push Mesogog back a few centimeters, before the villain threw him away. Seth came crashing down, next to the machine and morphed back to his human form as Mesogog gave another mental blast. Seth began to strain again from the attack, as Mesogog approached.
"You should quit now… If you know what's good for you." Mesogog hissed.
"As if!" Seth grunted out. He was trying to summon Zoology but the mental blast was causing a major headache. However, being in close proximity to the machine, some of the prehistoric energy used was leaking out. And that's when it happened.
Power Rangers' roar!
There's a light in the distance;
See them coming closer!
Seth felt the energy of the prehistoric powers and felt something within him. The energy covered him a purple glow as he concentrated on Zoology. With a burst of purple energy, Mesogog ceased his mental attack and everyone directed their attention to it.
With the force of ages
Centuries gone by!
Seth managed to stand and was now holding a new Keyblade. It was particularly jagged with its bone structure, similar to a long bone of an extinct creature. Seth had to admit it resembled the Sword of the Creator from 'Fire Emblem: Three Houses' in a way. "Now this is sick!" He admitted with a grin.

Seth wielded his new Keyblade, covered in a purple aura. His eyes shone the same color and he thrusted it into the air. From the cave, a series of bones began to emerge and spiral around, crafting into a skeletal version of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, who let out a powerful roar that stopped the Tyrannodrones, Stegron, and Sauron altogether.
Dino Rangers' roar!
Power Rangers' score!
Save us from these evil forces, win! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Seth threw his new Keyblade forward, commanding the skeletal dinosaur to charge. The T-rex destroyed the hordes of Tyrannodrones easily, helping Reptil, Ka-Zar, and Zabu out. "Way to go, Seth!" Reptil cheered. The hispanic shapeshifter joined in by becoming a Triceratops, barrelling through the minions.
Victory is ours forever more!
Sauron shrieked and attempted to fly in only for Ka-Zar to jump and grab his talons. Using his strength, Ka-Zar brought Sauron down to the ground. The pterodactyl hybrid was about to rise but Zabu pounced on him next, getting his wings in the process, so he couldn't escape.

Stegron jumped into the rubble, throwing a fist into the head of the fossil constructs. The bones crumpled from the blow and Stegron looked pleased until the fossil reformatted into a Stegosaurus. The skeletal construct slammed its tail into the stegosaur villain, which Seth found ironic.
Dino Rangеrs' roar! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Powеr Rangers' score! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Some remaining Tyrannodrones began to converge on Seth but with his new Keyblade, he cut them down easily. The Keyblade even extended and whipped a few in a unique function.
Save us from these evil forces (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!); win! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Seth held his new Keyblade and summoned bony-like claws from the ground, capturing Stegron and Sauron in their grasp. Mesogog growled at the turn of events and was planning to sneak away when Reptil as a Velociraptor pounced in front of him.
Dino Rangers' win! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Power from within! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Victory is ours forever more! (Power Rangers Dino Thunder! Power Rangers Dino Thunder!)
Seth used his new Keyblade to freeze where the genetic monster he stood with Blizzara. "And you think you are getting out of here scot-free?" Seth remarked. He then summoned another fossil construct of an Apatosaurus and commanded it to smash the console, which it did.
Once handled, the living fossil dispersed and Seth stumbled a little before Zabu caught him. "Well, that was intense." The formerly-hypnotized and captured dinosaurs became free of their mind control and looked around in confusion.
"We can talk more once we get these three in proper containment." Reptil suggested. "How long do you think the bones will hold them?"
"I don't know," Seth shrugged, "But with this new Keyblade, I think they'll stick around for a while." He smirked as he held the weapon in his hand with pride.
"Thank you for your help," Ka-Zar thanked as he and Zabu led the dinosaurs out of the lab with the help of the three Avengers Academy students. Devil had the dinosaurs follow him and gave a small apology grunt after being mind-controlled. Seth managed to translate it to Reptil and Ka-Zar.
"No problem. Not how I expected to spend this little excursion, but hey. I will always stand up for wildlife." Seth reaffirmed as Zabu snuggled into his chest. Seth scratched behind the saber's ears again as Devil licked the shapeshifter with his tongue.
"You sure are an animal magnet." Reptil joked.
"I can't help it." Seth shrugged before the two prehistoric creatures back away.
"We shall make sure these dinosaurs are unharmed," Ka-Zar insisted, "Come on, Zabu!" The saber purred and headed off with his 'brother.' As the Savage Land natives left, Reptil spoke his mind.
"So that new Keyblade of yours… IS AWESOME!" Reptil exclaimed.
"Oh yeah!" Seth agreed, "I finally connected with the prehistoric spirits!" Seth thinks it's from the Dino Gems or prehistoric essence from the machine while he was concentrating on summon Zoology.
"So this field-trip was worth it?" Reptil smugly said which made his fellow shapeshifter roll his eyes in amusement.
"Yeah, yeah. I suppose you are right." Seth relented and looked at the band monitor. "Man, 4 hours already? Feels longer."
Reptil checked his monitor too, stating 20:47 hours and minutes left. "Well, I'm sure that's plenty of time to get the hang of your new Keyblade!"
"Definitely." Seth affirmed and looked at his new weapon, "And I think I'll call it… Fossilized."
With that said, the trio of Avenger Academy students continued their little survival field-trip in the Savage Lands.
Next time: Seth teams up with Big Hero 6 and a certain hyena in the city of San Fransokyo!
A/N: And that ends this chapter!
Since Disney owned Power Rangers for a brief while, I decided to incorporate Dino Thunder's main villain Mesogog on the Savage Lands. I saw Kelzacks appear in the Magical World series previously and thought it would be nice. Used the theme song as well, as I didn't really want to repeat "Walk the Dinosaur."
Speaking of Power Rangers, if you are a fan, I have recently made a 'What If' Power Rangers-themed story.
Ka-Zar and Zabu are two obscure Marvel heroes who live in the Savage Lands. They have about one media appearance other than comics, being "Ultimate Spider-Man" series. Figured I would give them so love as Seth, Reptil, and Devil visit the homelands.
Was doing some research with the Savage Lands and came across Stegron as well. Another lesser known Spider-Man villain, might be C-List in my personal opinion. Not like Big Wheel as theDragonSaver put him in the Grand Prix story of the Magical World series.
And from the Dino Gems/collected latent prehistoric energy from the dinosaurs, Seth gains a new Keyblade: Fossilized! This will allow him to connect with prehistoric spirits and craft bone/fossil reincarnations or models of extinct creatures as you can see. A major upgrade but he'll be learning how to use it over time.
As for magichyena5061, as you can see I am working on that chapter currently. The wait will be worth it hopefully for ;)
Until next time! And an early happy Easter!
