CHAPTER 23: DEJA VU

It had been a two months since everyone arrived in Anniera and Amrah was trying to find the right hallway to go in to get to the kitchen. Castle Rysen was quite large and very confusing at first but soon Amrah knew where to go, or at least part of the way. Now is it a right or left from here? she thought. She took a left hoping it was the right way and it was. She found a familiar door and opened it to find Nia getting ready to make breakfast. "Good morning, Amrah." Nia said with a smile.

"Good morning." Amrah said smiling.

"How are you?"

"I'm good. And I take it you are good as well?"

Nia giggled, "Yes, I am." Amrah smiled even more, happy for her new friend. It was only five months until the double wedding day! The day when Artham and Arundelle would get married and Nia and Esben will renew their vows. At first Nia and Esben were going to renew their vows on a different day but Artham and Arundelle had pointed out it could be easier to plan one wedding and not two.

"So, what are we making today?" Amrah asked.

"We are making hotcakes, cheesy chowder, and muffins." Nia answered.

"Sounds like a good breakfast to me."

"It sure does!" Came a voice from the door.

"Good morning Arundelle." Nia said.

"Good morning." Arundelle said. Then the three woman started to cook and bake and discuss what the plan was for the day. Rudric was going to sail to the Green Hollows after breakfast, Kalmar was scheduled to go to a meeting with the mayor of Pennybridge and of course Esben, Nia, Janner and Leeli were going to be at his side while Oscar observed everything. Podo planned to go a tavern to get some nice bean brew, Artham and Arundelle agreed to take Amrah, Sara and Laylah around the town to see different things there. Amrah had been a little nervous to go into town because she was afraid that people might recognize her and think that she would try to hurt them. But Arundelle had pointed out that when they first arrived nobody seemed to be afraid of Amrah and reassured her that as long as she stayed with them everything will be okay.

Once everything was finished everyone came, blessed the meal and ate breakfast. Nobody was really surprised that Janner didn't want any muffins that sat on a silver platter. It wasn't that he thought that they had something in them that would make him knock out and sleep for two days, it was just that he wasn't sure if he would be able to a muffin again after what happened last time. Then everyone started the day just as planned.

It was a beautiful day in Pennybridge as a nice breeze came through the town. Artham was walking next to Arundelle who was talking with Amrah about different things in Pennybridge. He looked up ahead to see Laylah and Sara looking into a window that displayed a beautiful painting of a sea dragon jumping out of the ocean with Anniera and the setting sun behind it. Once they caught up to the girls they stopped to get a better look at the painting. "It's beautiful!" Amrah said in awe. Her eyes were big taking in everything. Sara moved to the door and looked inside, "I think they're open can we have look?"

"Well, I think we've got time." Artham said, "What do you think?" He asked Arundelle.

"I think it's a good idea. Do you want to go Amrah?"

"Yes please!" Amrah exclaimed as soon as Arundelle asked the question.

"Hey, where's Laylah?" Sara asked. Artham started to look around frantically for the girl. It was as if she vanished into thin air. "Found her." Said Amrah. They all looked passed the painting in the window and saw Laylah already inside the building looking around. She looked at them through the window and waved her hand towards her telling them to come as they all sighed of relief. As they walked through the door a bell started to ring which made them all wonder how Laylah was able to get in without making noise. "Laylah please don't run off like that." Artham said once he got to her side.

"I thought the decision was that we go in already so I went in." Laylah said.

Artham sighed, "Alright, but next time you leave I want you to tell us so that we know where you are."

"Al-" But Laylah stopped when a painting caught her eye and she walked toward it. It was a painting of a farm in an open field with sheep behind and a garden next to it. "Laylah are you okay?" Artham asked.

"Yeah it's just…that looks familiar. Like…almost…I've been there before." Laylah said. Artham looked at the painting again then had a strange deja vu feeling. There was something strange about that painting.

Later they left the shop and began walking through town again. Arundelle, Amrah, and Sara kept on talking about the paintings. Amrah even mentioned that she wanted to learn how to paint. Artham and Laylah were silent and kept to themselves. Again a strange feeling came to Artham. He didn't understand why but there was indeed something up with Laylah that he had to find out. Why did she look and sound so familiar. Even in the night when she looked like her creature self. He also didn't know why the Maker allowed Laylah to turn into a creature at night. Not that anyone had a problem with it but they still wondered if there was something that Laylah needed to do as a creature. Amrah never changed into a creature again, just Laylah and Janner, the only ones that changed to creatures.

He looked at Laylah and noticed how she looked at everything with a confused expression. "Is there something bothering you Laylah?" He asked.

"I'm still having that weird deja vu feeling. I don't remember ever coming here but it all looks familiar."

Artham was silent for a moment. "What if you have come to Anniera before but when you touched that stone it messed up your memory."

"I guess that's a possibility. But I think that all of my memories are either mixed up or gone so, I'll probably never know." Artham felt pity for the girl. She's only fifteen. He kept on thinking again how he might have seen her before but he doesn't recall anytime meeting her. He remembered having dreams and he felt like they had something to do with her but he didn't know how. He's never met her before they were in the Deeps of Throg.

Right?
