(Farewell, Thy Calvin)
*December 20th, 1941*
*4:55 pm*
*Wright Manor*
Calvin sat on his bed, thinking about his feelings for Anya, and he realized she was the one he truly loved.
"I-I love Anya. I-I want to be with her. I always had a thing for her, but It was nothing as serious as I'm feeling now.." Calvin spoke to himself while continuing to sit in silence; however, this was interrupted by the sound of the telephone ringing which prompted him to get up to answer it.
"Hello, Calvin Wright, here. How can I help you?" Calvin politely answered as he waited for whoever was on the other line to respond.
The phone conversation would begin, and Calvin heard something that would widen his eyes, and this would cause him to feel shocked before finally coming to an answer.
"Oh, you want me to leave today. I'll be there tonight, thank you for your the heads-up." Calvin responded to the caller with a rather monotone voice before hanging up.
After hanging up the phone, Calvin sighed to himself before getting up to pack his things, and during this, there was a knock on his door.
"Come in…" Calvin responded rather sadly while looking over to see Louise standing at the door with a frown on her face.
"Dear Brother, I heard everything from outside. You're leaving today, right? How are you going to tell Anya and the others…" Louise asked her brother in a sad voice while she stared back at her sad brother.
"Yes, and I honestly don't know if I have the time. They're going to pick me up at seven o'clock or earlier so I must be ready for them.." Calvin responded to his sister before smiling at her rather faintly.
"I see, so you won't have time to see them. Such a shame. I wish things were different, Dear Brother, but I'll miss you dearly and please remember to write as well.." Louise responded to her brother with sadness in her voice while looking at her brother.
Calvin saw his sister slowly beginning to cry which caused him to lay his hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry, I will, and I'm going to be okay. I'll try not to get myself killed or anything.." Calvin responded with a smile while Louise looked up before hugging her brother tightly.
"I love you, Dear Brother. Please come back safely, please…" Louise pleaded with her brother while feeling the warmth of her brother's hug.
"I love you as well, my sister, and Don't worry, I will." Calvin responded to his sister as the siblings continued to share a warm hug before releasing each other from the hug.
This would cause Louise to smile warmly at her brother as she gave him a thumbs up.
"Goodbye, my Dear Brother…" Louise spoke to Calvin for the final time before leaving his room and closing the door behind him thus leaving the boy alone.
"I gotta see Anya. I can't leave her hanging.." Calvin thought to himself before heading toward his closet so he could get ready.
*Charlotte's Room*
*5:55 pm*
Back at Charlotte's home, Anya and her friends were all sitting in Charlotte's room.
"So, what type of food should we bring for Calvin? I know he'll miss us dearly so we gotta create somethin that would make him happy." Cynthia asked her friends while snacking on potato chips as she waited for an answer.
"I could have my mother bake something but we're on a budget right now since it's the holidays so I'll just bake some cookies." Charlotte responded with a smile while everyone nodded in support.
"Wonderful. I'll do something simple such as dressing. I recall that's one of Calvin's favorite foods, right?" Nancy chimed into the conversation while Charlotte nodded her head in confirmation.
"Correct, Anya told me all about what Calvin likes and dislikes so we should be able to figure out what to do for our big day tomorrow." Charlotte responded to Nancy while looking over to see Anya staring out of the window which made her worry.
"Anya.." Charlotte thought to herself with a worried expression on her face, and right when she was going to speak, the telephone rang.
This event made Charlotte jump a little as she quickly turned her attention toward the noise.
"Don't worry, I'll get it." Charlotte spoke to her friends before getting up from the floor to get the telephone that was beside her bed so she could answer it.
"Good Evening, Charlotte Smith. How could I help you?" Charlotte greeted the caller in a polite voice as she waited for an answer.
"Hello, It's me, Louise, sorry for the inconvenience, but I have something that I must tell you, It's something regarding Calvin that he wanted me to tell you and the others.." Louise spoke to Charlotte from the other line as this surprised the girl greatly.
"Hello Louise, and please tell us the news.." Charlotte responded in a worried tone which made Anya and the others eager to know more.
"Well, Calvin is leaving today in little over an hour, so whatever you have planned then you must cancel it, I'm afraid. He expressed his thanks for your kindness and that he'll miss everyone, especially Anya and Judith." Louise responded from the other line to her friend once more as the news shocked Charlotte greatly.
"T-Today?! How terrible..so it's over, right? We can't visit him.." Charlotte responded with sadness and disappointment in her voice and this made Anya jolt up from the floor in shock.
"N-No way! C-Calvin can't be leaving already…" Anya spoke in shock before quickly walking over to put on her winter clothes from the hanger before heading out.
This was watched by Cynthia and the others as they were shocked by the unexpected development.
"Anya.." Nancy uttered quietly while looking out of the window to see Anya running toward whatever she was planning to run at.
*Central Park*
The beautiful snowy night illuminated as Anya was running in hopes of bumping into Calvin, and sadly, there was no sign of the boy.
"Calvin…you can't leave us.." Anya thought to herself before silently crying to herself.
Unknown to her, Calvin was right behind her, and he gently placed his hand on her shoulder which alerted her as she turned around.
"C-Calvin.." Anya uttered while staring at her friend who was smiling at her.
"You heard the phone call, right? Sorry you had to find out this way, I didn't expect to leave this early.." Calvin spoke to his friend as the girl nodded before speaking again.
"Yes, and did you speak to Judith yet? She'll be heartbroken if you don't say goodbye to her…" Anya responded with sadness in her voice while Calvin nodded in agreement as he tried not to cry.
"Damn, I was so caught up that I didn't, but I know Louise would just tell her…" Calvin responded calmly before looking around to see the snowy park.
This would bring a sense of nostalgia to Calvin as he was reminded of the first day that he and Anya first met.
"We met here, remember? I was trying to ask you out, and you rejected me, and rightfully so, but those feelings for you remained, and they only grew stronger with each passing day.." Calvin spoke to Anya once more in a gentle voice while his friend nodded with a smile.
"I do, and now we're saying goodbye to each other, crazy, right? And I also.." Anya responded before quickly realizing in shock that she might be staring into the eyes of the man whom she loves.
"Anya, I love you. I-I want you to be my girlfriend. I chose you, and it's what Judith told me, I will be much happier with you than with her.." Calvin confessed to Anya before giving her a warm hug which was returned by his friend.
During this, Calvin shed a few tears as he continued to speak.
"You've changed my life, Anya. I will never forget the good times we've spent together. Thank you for everything, Goodbye…" Calvin spoke to Anya for the final time as he heard his friend sobbing softly while falling to her knees.
"Calvin.." Anya thought to herself as she had a flashback about all of her moments with Calvin up until this very point
Anya was too emotional to respond to Calvin as she continued to sob which made the boy even more sad.
"Calvin.." Anya spoke to herself as she silently sobbed to herself.
During this, Calvin slowly walked away from his friend to depart for home where he would be picked up.
Faced with uncertainty, Calvin will now venture into the unknown….
