Blue's Big Easter Egg Hunt

A.N. Happy Easter, everyone! Before we get started with this one, I'd like to mention that this one, just like "Blue's New School", the fourth installment in this series, draws inspiration from my Discord roleplays, this one about a school Easter egg hunt. Of course, this isn't exactly like the roleplay, but I can safely say it's close enough. So, with that out of the way, let our story begin.

One afternoon after school, Blue and Sprinkles were talking to Steve, Joe, and Josh about a poster they had brought home from school, which was for a school Easter egg hunt that was to take place that Friday. Joe was wearing his purple shirt.

"And whoever finds the Gold Egg wins a pizza party for their class!" Blue said excitedly.

"Sounds fantastic." said Steve. "But what about the ones who find the Silver and Bronze Eggs?"

"The Silver Egg wins you a week of free ice cream coupons." replied Sprinkles. "The Bronze Egg wins you a bag of candy."

"And the best part is that classes are cancelled for the whole day." added Blue. "Of course, we're still gonna have our regular lunch period."

"Looks to me like you guys are in for a heck of a day on Friday." said Joe. "Say, I think we might have some Easter egg baskets in the attic you can use. I'll be right back."

Joe rose from his seat and went up to the attic. He soon came back with two wicker baskets, along with two spools of ribbon; one blue and one red. He then tied some blue ribbon to the handle of one basket and some red ribbon to the handle of the other.

"There you go." he said. "Two baskets ready for collecting Easter eggs."

"Thanks, Joe." said Blue.

"Yeah, thanks." added Sprinkles.

Joe just winked in response. Soon, Friday arrived, and Blue, Sprinkles, and all their friends, including Magenta, Green Puppy, Orange Kitten, Purple Kangaroo, Periwinkle, Stocking Head, Jazz, and pretty much all the students within their age and/or grade level, were in the auditorium of Trey Whitney K-12 School.

"This is gonna be so much fun, Magenta!" said Blue.

"I know!" grinned Magenta. "A whole school day dedicated to nothing but looking for plastic eggs. I wonder who will find the Gold Egg."

"Me too." agreed Blue.

While his sister talked with Magenta, Sprinkles talked with Periwinkle.

"I'm so glad your grandpa let you take part in the egg hunt." said Sprinkles.

"Me too." agreed his kitten friend.

Soon, the principal of the school, Mr. Perkins, came onto the stage and walked up to the lectern that was set up on it. Sarah, Jazz's adoptive older sister, was with him, along with a group of students who looked around her age, among them her friend Billy.

"Hello, everyone." he greeted. "And welcome to the first-ever Trey Whitney K-12 School Easter Egg hunt. Now, before we go further, I'd like to mention that I can't take all the credit for planning this event, as this wasn't my idea to begin with. Rather, it was Sarah Whitney's idea to host this event. As such, it would only make sense for her to explain the rules."

Mr. Perkins turned his head to Sarah and nodded at her, indicating it was her turn to speak. Sarah nodded in response, then went to the lectern.

"Thank you, Mr. Perkins." she said. "Alright, the rules for the egg hunt are as follows. The eggs are hidden all over the school, and Mr. Perkins has agreed to cancel classes for today to buy you all as much time as possible to find as many eggs as you can, but we're still gonna have lunch at the time we normally have it. As mentioned on the fliers my friends and I made and passed out for it, there'll be special prizes for the ones who find the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Eggs. In addition, there are three eggs that each contain a clue to where the Gold Egg is hidden. Those eggs are marked by a gold star sticker."

Sarah discussed some more rules for the egg hunt, then turned it back over to Mr. Perkins.

"Sarah has also informed me that for those who don't have their own basket, her mother was kind enough to prove a generous donation of baskets." said Mr. Perkins. "So, if there is anybody here who doesn't have a basket, please raise your hand."

About a quarter of the student audience raised there hands, and as luck would have it, there was plenty of baskets to accomodate those who raised their hands. One of the students who identified as not having a basket was Periwinkle. It wasn't long before everyone had a basekt.

"Now that everyone has a basket, I believe it's now time to officially start the egg hunt." said Mr. Perkins. "That being said, let the egg hunt commence! Good luck, everyone!"

The students cheered as they raced out of the auditorium. However, just as they were passing through the doorway that led into the auditorium, Sprinkles saw two boys in a corner. It looked like they were planning something. One of the boys had a chubby appearance with a buzz cut and wearing a blue and yellow baseball cap on his head backwards, a red jacket, brown pants, and black sneakers. The other boy was of average build and had shoulder-length black hair and a buck-toothed mouth. His attire consisted of a dark blue beanie, a yellow t-shirt with a black letter "J" on it, navy blue jean shorts, white crew socks, and black basketball shoes.

"Dude, this is gonna be one of the best schemes we've ever pulled off!" said the boy in the cap.

"Oh, totally!" said the boy in the beanie. "They won't even know what hit 'em!"

Sprinkles was confused as he heard this.

"What are those guys talking about?" he asked himself.

But Sprinkles decided to worry about this later, and instead focused on the egg hunt. He soon found an egg in a potted spider plant in the lobby.

"Hey, I found one!" he grinned.

At that moment, Periwinkle came over, and Sprinkles showed the former the egg he had found.

"Nice job!" said Perwinkle. "I just found one by the staircase that leads up to the auditorium balcony!"

"I wonder how many more eggs we'll find." said Sprinkles.

"Only one way to find out." replied Periwinkle.

With that, the two friends, in conjunction with all the other students, kept on looking for eggs. Blue and Magenta, plus Orange Kitten, were all looking in the student lounge for eggs.

"Here's one!" said Blue as she took an egg out of one of the pockets of the pool table.

"And here's another!" added Magenta, who had just pulled an egg out of wastebasket underneath some balls of crumpled-up paper.

"How are you doing, Orange Kitten?" asked Blue.

"Nothing yet." said Orange Kitten.

But then, Orange Kitten spotted a light purple object on a shelf.

"Wait, I see something!" she said. "Up there, on that shelf!"

"There's a stepladder over there." said Magenta. "We can use that to reach it."

Magenta grabbed the stepladder, which Orange Kitten used to reach the shelf to grab what she saw, which turned out to be an egg, but Orange Kitten soon found that there was something special about this egg, because when she looked at the bottom, she found a gold star sticker. Seeing the star caused her to smile excitedly.

"I found the first Clue Egg!" she grinned.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" asked Blue. "Open it!"

Orange Kitten did, and she found that inside the egg was a picture of a basketball.

"Okay, so our first clue to where the Gold Egg is hidden has something to do with a basketball." said Blue. "Where would that be?"

"Well, there's a basketball court by the playground." said Magenta. "Let's try there."

And so, the three girls made their way out to the playground, but on their way, they passed by one of the art classrooms, where they saw the same two boys Sprinkles had seen earlier. They had a whole bunch of Easter eggs with them.

"Wow." said Orange Kitten. "Those guys made out like bandits."

"How could they have gotten that many eggs so quickly?" asked Magenta.

"I don't know." said Blue. "If you ask me, something funny's going on."

"Should we tell Mr. Perkins?" asked Magenta.

"Not yet." said Blue. "Let's just wait and see what happens. In the meantime, let's get back to the egg hunt."

"You're right, Blue." agreed Orange Kitten. "Let's go!"

Meanwhile, Sprinkles, Periwinkle, Purple Kangaroo, and Duck were all out on the playground looking for more eggs. Sprinkles and Periwinkle were looking in the sandbox.

"You were right to try looking in here." said Periwinkle. "This looks like a perfect spot to hide an Easter egg."

"Exactly." said Sprinkles.

It wasn't long before Sprinkles uncovered a speck of light green plastic buried beneath the sand.

"Hey, look at that!" he said.

Sprinkles moved away some more sand to reveal that what he had found was indeed another egg.

"I wonder if this is a Clue Egg." said Periwinkle.

"Let's see, shall we?" replied Sprinkles.

Sprinkles picked up the egg and looked it over, but there was no gold star on it anywhere.

"Oh, shucks." he sighed.

But then, Sprinkles saw his sister, Magenta, and Orange Kitten on the basketball court.

"Hey, look, there's Blue, Magenta, and Orange Kitten." he said. "Let's go see if they've had any more luck."

With that, Sprinkles and Periwinkle went over to the basketball court, and Blue wasted no time telling her brother about how Orange Kitten found the first Clue Egg.

"We're thinking that the Gold Egg might be hidden somewhere where there's a basketball." said Blue. "So we tried looking here, but no dice."

"Hopefully the second Clue Egg will give us some more information to go on." said Magenta.

Right as Magenta said that, Purple Kangaroo and Duck came rushing over, Duck holding a pink egg with a gold star sticker on its bottom end.

"We found the second Clue Egg!" said Purple Kangaroo.

"It was under the merry-go-round!" added Duck.

"Cool!" grinned Blue. "Let's see what the second clue is."

Duck opened the egg and uncovered a picture of some bleachers.

"Okay, so our first clue was a basketball, and now we have bleachers." said Blue. "Hmm...well, I think I might have a good idea for where the Gold Egg might be, but let's wait until someone finds the last Clue Egg, just to be sure."

"Good call, sis." said Sprinkles.

Just then, they all heard the lunch bell ring.

"I guess we'll have to see if that happens after lunch." said Blue. "Come on, let's go."

And so, the students made their way to the cafeteria, and as they were having lunch, Sprinkles spoke to his sister about the boys he had seen.

"I think they might be up to no good." he was saying.

Stocking Head, who was sitting at the same table, along with Jazz, couldn't help but overhear.

"What did you say those boys looked like again?" he asked.

Sprinkles described the two boys to Stocking Head.

"Yeah, I'd keep my eye on them if I were you." said Stocking Head. "Those two boys are Aaron Carmen and Jeffery Logan. They're two of the most troublesome students in the whole school. Sarah and Jazz told me all about them. They're always doing bad stuff around the school."

"Like what?" asked Sprinkles.

"They play very mean pranks on both students and teachers, cause disruptions in class, and they frequently pick on and bully other kids." chimed in Jazz. "They've been given detentions, suspensions, and sent to Mr. Perkins' office so many times I lost count."

"Wow." said Magenta. "Those two sound like bad news."

"They are indeed." said Jazz.

At that moment, Sarah came over.

"So, how are you guys liking the egg hunt?" she asked.

"Very much." said Blue. "We've found lots of eggs already, and we found two Clue Eggs already."

"Wow, great job!" said Sarah. "Good luck trying to find the third Clue Egg. It's not so easily hidden as Clue Eggs 1 and 2."

But then, Sarah thought of something.

"Although, if you want, I can give you a clue as to where it is." she said in a hushed voice. "Would you like that?"

"Sure, a little hint won't hurt." agreed Blue.

"Okay." nodded Sarah. "The last Clue Egg is hidden in a place where you might find this."

Sarah reached into her backpack and pulled out a book. Right away, Blue and her friends got the idea as to what place Sarah was indirectly mentioning, so, after lunch, they left the cafeteria and made their way to the school library, where they began searching for the last Clue Egg. True to Sarah's word, finding said egg proved to be more of a challenge than looking for the first two.

"Boy, finding that Clue Egg is like trying to find a needle in a haystack." said Purple Kangaroo as he and Duck looked under the tables and chairs.

"You said it." agreed Duck. "But that's just what makes it fun."

Meanwhile, Blue, Magenta, and Orange Kitten were scouring the bookshelves in the library, hoping to find the Clue Egg.

"Gee, Sarah wasn't kidding when she said the last Clue Egg would be hard to find." said Blue.

"Definitely not." agreed Magenta. "I mean, there are lots of books here, but no eggs."

But then, Magenta moved aside a bookend made to look like a unicorn's head, and sure enough, there, right in front of her eyes, was a light blue egg that, when she turned it around, had a gold star on its bottom.

"I found it!" she cried. "I found the last Clue Egg!"

Magenta eagerly grabbed the egg and, after returning the bookend back to its original position, showed it to Blue and the others. At that moment, Sprinkles, Periwinkle, Purple Kangaroo, and Duck came over to them. Sprinkles was holding a silver plastic egg.

"Look, Blue, I found the Silver Egg!" he grinned.

"Wow, that's great, little bro!" said Blue. "And we found the last Clue Egg!"

Blue then looked at Magenta.

"Magenta, would you like to do the honors?" she asked.

"Don't mind if I do." agreed Magenta.

Magenta opened the egg, which contained a fridge magnet shaped like the letter 'G'.

"Well, that's it." said Blue. "We have our last clue. So, let's think about this. Our clues are a basketball, bleachers, and the letter 'G'. So, where in the school has a basketball, bleachers, and the letter 'G'?"

Everyone thought about this for a good long bit, until finally, it hit them all at once.

"The gym!" they all said.

"The Gold Egg must be hidden somewhere in the gym!" said Blue. "Because we can play basketball in the gym, there are bleachers to sit on in the gym, and the word 'gym' starts with the letter 'G'!"

"Well, what are we waiting for?" asked Magenta. "Let's go to the gym!"

And so, the friends left the library and began making their way to the gym. On the way, they met up with Stocking Head and Jazz, the latter of whom was holding a bronze plastic egg. Blue excitedly told the pair where they figured out the Gold Egg was hidden.

"The gym, huh?" asked Jazz. "Then I guess that's where we're going next! To the gym!"

But then, Baby Bear ran up to them with an excited smile on her face. She was holding a gold-colored egg.

"Here it is!" she was saying. "The Gold Egg! I found it!"

Blue and her friends were surprised to hear that.

"Wow, Baby Bear." said Blue. "How did you know to look for it in the gym?"

Baby Bear was confused.

"What do you mean?" she asked. "I found this egg in the girls' locker room."

"Wait, what?" asked Duck. "For real?"

Baby Bear just nodded. At that moment, Green Puppy joined the group. She also had a gold egg in her clutches.

"Green, where did you find that egg?" asked Blue.

"By the flagpole outside." replied Green Puppy. "Why?"

Before Blue could respond, Green Kangaroo and Magenta Kangaroo came over with Blue Kitten. All of them were holding gold eggs, which were also found in different places than the gym. Green Kangaroo found his gold egg in the boys' locker room, Magenta Kangaroo found her gold egg under a recovery couch in the nurse's office, and Blue Kitten found her egg in a wastebasket in the teacher's lounge. Needless to say, everyone was growing mighty baffled by the prescence of more than one gold egg.

"Okay, what's going on here?" asked Blue. "Why are there so many gold eggs?"

"That's what we'd like to know." said a voice.

It was Sarah, who was coming on the scene at that moment with Billy. A few other students, who turned out to be Blue's friends Monkey, Porcupine, and Felix, were with them. The three each had their own gold egg.

"Something fishy's going on here." said Billy. "Me and Sarah just found these three with gold eggs. Neither of us have an idea as to what's going on, but what we do know is that none of these gold eggs look anything like the real one."

Just then, Blue, Sprinkles, Periwinkle, Magenta, and Orange Kitten all remembered the things they had seen, and they promptly told Sarah and Billy about their suspicions.

"You guys are right." said Sarah. "Something is definitely up. Billy, go get Mr. Perkins. Blue, you, Sprinkles, Magenta, Periwinkle, Stocking Head, Jazz follow me."

With that being said, while Billy went to go find Mr. Perkins, Sarah collected all the gold eggs, then took Blue and her friends to one of the art classrooms, the same one Blue, Magenta, and Orange Kitten had spotted Aaron and Jeffrey in earlier. Once inside, Sarah took Baby Bear's gold egg and, with a sculpting tool, carefully scraped at the egg, and was surprised to find out that the gold color was coming off to reveal that the egg was actually orange. She repeated the process with the other gold eggs and revealed they were all completely different colors than gold. The next thing Sarah discovered was a pair of paintbrushes that looked like they had been recently used, as their bristles were still damp after being rinsed off. She also found a bottle of gold paint that had some of its contents missing from it, and there was a droplet of paint on the cap that was still pretty wet.

"Well, I think I know what happened." said Sarah. "It seems that someone painted all these eggs gold. And I think I know who."

At that moment, Billy came over and poked his head in.

"Mr. Perkins and I found out what happened." he said. "Come on."

And so, Blue, Sprinkles, Magenta, Periwinkle, Stocking Head, and Jazz followed Sarah and Billy to Mr. Perkins' office, where Mr. Perkins was waiting at his desk, with Aaron and Jeffrey sitting in front of it. Both of them had looks of defeat on their faces.

"Let me guess, it was you two who were behind this." said Sarah.

Aaron and Jeffrey nodded, and then Aaron, with a prod from Mr. Perkins, went on to explain that he and Jeffrey had painted a bunch of eggs with gold paint and hid them in places where they could be easily found. The motive behind this was to throw everyone else of the trail of the real Gold Egg, which they had stolen from its original hiding place with the hopes of claiming they had found it fair and square and claim the pizza party reward, but they had been caught red-handed by both Billy and Mr. Perkins as they were leaving the gym. Billy then explained how he had been instructed to re-hide the real Gold Egg while Mr. Perkins took the two delinquent boys to his office. After all that was said and done, Mr. Perkins made Aaron and Jeffrey apologize for trying to ruin the egg hunt for everyone else, then dismissed Sarah and the others while he called Aaron and Jeffrey's parents and told them what happened, then announced that both boys would be suspended for a week for their actions. Needless to say, the parents were not happy about what their sons had done, and their mothers promised they would deal with them properly when they got home. Afterwards, Mr. Perkins restarted the hunt for the Gold Egg, and it wasn't long before the other students were busy searching the the Gold Egg. This time, everyone knew exactly where to look, that being the gym, although Billy had hid it in a different location within the gym than before. The kids searched high and low for the Gold Egg. Blue and Magenta, who were looking in the equipment closet, spoke to each other as they searched for the Gold Egg.

"Man, I can't believe those guys had the nerve to try and ruin the egg hunt." said Magenta. "I sure hope they get what they deserve."

"You and me both." agreed Blue. "At least Mr. Perkins said we can start over with looking for the Gold Egg."

Just then, Blue spotted something shiny in a storage cart filled with volleyballs.

"Hey, I think I see something!" she said.

Blue moved some of the volleyballs out of the cart, and soon uncovered a large shiny gold plastic egg.

"I think this is it, Magenta!" she said as she took the egg out of the cart. "I think found the real Gold Egg!"

"Let's go show the others!" said Magenta.

The two pups ran out of the closet and to their friends. When they showed the egg to Sarah, Billy, and Mr. Perkins, all three of them confirmed that the egg Blue had found was indeed the real Gold Egg that Aaron and Jeffrey had tried to claim for themselves.

"Congratulations, Blue." said Mr. Perkins with a smile. "You have won the grand prize."

All the other kids cheered for Blue. Then, Mr. Perkins took Blue, Sprinkles, and Jazz to his office where he wasted no time in giving them their rewards. Everyone else who participated in the egg hunt but didn't find any of the prize eggs didn't go home empty-handed either, as all the eggs that had been collected, including the prize eggs, contained a handful of Hershey's Chocolate Eggs. Later on, as Steve was driving Blue and Sprinkles home, the two pups told him everything about the egg hunt, including the attempted egg swindle by Aaron and Jeffrey.

"Golly." said Steve. "I bet those punks thought for sure they were going to get away with it."

"Yep." laughed Sprinkles.

"Say, you two, to celebrate your victories in finding the Gold and Silver Eggs, what do you say to dinner at Wienerschnitzel?" Steve then asked.

Blue and Sprinkles agreed, and as they continued on the way home, the two pups felt happy to have had such a rolicking good time at the egg hunt in spite of the actions of two selfishly sinister students.

The End
