New Orleans. A city I personally hated. Just like Mystic Falls, nothing good really came out of this city. I mean this was the city our father found us, and I later spent five years tortured by him. So, I did not have that many pleasant memories here. Unfortunately though, my brother loved this city with his entire heart.
I don't think I've ever seen Niklaus so heartbroken until we had to leave this city. It was the city he built from the ground up. I guess it was his own sort of empire. But all empires eventually fall.
Marcel is now the King. The man Nik treated like a son, took over his kingdom. The irony is hilarious to me. But being completely honest, I don't really care about Marcel taking over New Orleans. He can have the entire city.
As long as my family is safe. But if him being in control means that my niece may be in danger, then we have a problem. So whatever this secret weapon he has that is making him pretty much invincible to the point where the quarter witches are afraid, I will figure it out and put an end to it.
I pull up to this White House mansion, parking behind this red car. I believe this is where Elijah told me he and Nik were staying. He told me this was the old governor's house, but I've never been here. I never cared about the parties thrown here because they never interested me.
I do remember one night when there was a party here. Rebekah came home crying because Niklaus had killed yet another one of her lovers. I'm starting to get why Rebekah wanted to stay in Mystic Falls.
I get out of the car and look at the house for a moment. Taking a deep breath, I prepare myself for the mayhem that is about to happen. Because we can never do things quietly.
I walk up to the door and slowly open it. "Hello! I'm back!"
I close the door behind me, not hearing a single sound. I take a few steps further into the house, stop not hearing anything. "ANYONE HOME!"
I then turn to see someone walking down the stairs, and look at her curiously. Before realizing that this is the girl carrying Nik's child.
"Does everyone in your family come in screaming at the door?" She questions me, I look her up and down before crossing my arms.
"Well, Niklaus screams practically every day, so I would get used to it."
"I wasn't talking about Klaus. Your sister." She corrects me and I squint my eyes at her in confusion. "The blonde chick who came in here screaming at your brother.."
"I know who my sister is." I roll my eyes at her as she makes it to the bottom of the stairway. "What is she doing here?"
"Looking for Elijah."
"What do you mean she's looking for Elijah?" I look at her confused and she shifts her eyes away from me.
"Apparently, Klaus did something to him and Rebekah came here to find him. But he was not here, so she is out looking for him." She explains. I then take a deep breath, close my eyes and look up to the ceiling for a moment.
"And this thing my brother did...does it have anything to do with a dagger?" I try to question calmly.
"I believe that's what Rebekah said." I sigh in frustration, slowly looking back to the girl. It's only been a couple days. Does Niklaus not have any restraint anymore?
"Okay, so um...sorry, what's your name again?"
"Hayley..?" She stated in an offended tone, but I moved past it.
"Right, Hayley. Do you know where I might be able to find my brother?"
New Orleans still gives me the same eery feeling I had when I left. I can sense so many vampires here, it's alarming. I have to admit that even though I hate his methods, I find it impressive how Marcel got such control over this city. Even Niklaus could not manage that, and he is an original.
Which means that whatever Marcel's secret weapon is, I cannot underestimate it.
I came to town with Hayley, after she wanted to go out and get some fresh air. I know she's supposed to stay hidden because she carrying an original's baby and all, but who the hell wants to be cooped up in a house all day? So I let her free, while I went to go have a nice lovely talk with my brother and his mini self.
While walking, I noticed the two of them in the window of this small bar. Of course.
I make my way up to the door, bumping into someone coming on their way out.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry." The lady says, looking down at the books she dropped. She is a faired toned girl with shoulder length blonde hair. "I probably should not read while I'm walking."
As she kneels down to pick up her books, I pick up one as well and hand it to her. "Probably for the best. You're lucky you bumped into me and not some loud noise wanker who would have used this opportunity to sleep with you."
"I believe that has already happened." She mentions, pointing into the shop and I look through the window to see Marcel and Niklaus laughing.
"Figures." I whisper to myself, looking back at the women cleaning herself up.
"I should be get going." She states and I smile at her, before she starts walking again. I then open the door to the shop, and turn to face those two. Marcel sees me first, and his smile I saw earlier, immediately drops.
"Well, it was fun while it lasted." Marcels states, and takes a sip of his drink. I give him a small glare, as Niklaus turns around to face me.
"Sister! You're back."
"Not as pleased as I would have hoped." I say with a fake smile, walking over to their table.
"And why is that?" Niklaus questions me, and I look down to him with my smile fading away.
"Elijah is missing." I state quickly, looking directly at him. Nik stares at me for a few seconds, before he starts to laugh.
"Well, maybe he went on a soul-searching trip. He has been doing that a lot lately."
"Where the hell is he Nik? I know you daggered him."
"You know, I don't like the accusations." Niklaus says offended, looking over to Marcel now. "I mean every single time something bad happens, they blame me!"
"Are they wrong to?" Marcel questions, and Niklaus glares at him. I look between them confused.
"If you're so worried, Kalle," Nik starts, turning back to face me. "Why don't you just cast a locator spell?"
"You don't think I already tried that?" I asked annoyed, and he shrugged his shoulders at me. "There's a block. And I think it has something to do with your mini me." I turned to Marcel, while he squinted his eyes at me.
"What do I have to do with this?" Marcel asks.
"I have a gut feeling you know where Elijah is, and that secret weapon that is making every witch in this town scared is the reason why I cannot locate him." I explain, and he scoffs, taking another drink. "Am I wrong?"
Marcel finishes his whole cup, and places it on the table. He then turns to face me, with a tired expression. "Look, there is one thing I have learned and it is to never get involved in Mikaelson family business. Because you always get caught in the crossfire."
I analyze Marcel, not knowing if he is telling the truth or not. I was never that close with him and knowing how long he had lived, he will be able to lie his teeth through a truth spell. So instead, I just glare at him, knowing in the back of my mind he's hiding something.
They both are.
"Well! Look at the time, we're running late." Marcel states, as he gets up from his chair.
"Late for what?" Niklaus questions curiously, and I turn to see Marcel smirking at him.
"It's a surprise." Marcel states, turning to look back at me. "If I was you, I would stay here. This is not really your cup of tea."
I cross my arms at him, with a devilish glare. "What makes you an expert on what I like or don't like?"
"I know you're an immortal witch who has seen thousands killed by the hands of your family, and yet you still feel sick when an...'innocent'... person dies. As shown by your reaction to Jane Anne."
"Sorry that I still have emotions."
"No, I'm sorry that you weep over a witch, who probably disowned you, like every single one of the other witches in the world. Even your mother..."
"Okay, you know what-" I reach my arm out to give him an aneurism, but Niklaus quickly vamp speeds in front of me.
Marcel puts his hands up in defeat. "Relax! I was only joking." He says, with a small smile and I continue to give him a death stare. I take back what I said before, he is way worse than Niklaus.
"Everyone calm down, we are all friends here." Niklaus motions at the three of us, lying through his teeth and I roll my eyes. I calm myself down, not letting him get to me. "Sister, I think it's best if you don't come with us. Trust me."
I look at him skeptically, not even knowing if I can trust him right now. But there is no point arguing. They obviously do not want me coming along and I don't have the time, nor the energy, to see them kill some tourist.
"Fine." I finally give in, and two smiles appear on both of their faces.
"Great, let's go." Marcel says, walking out of the bar and I roll my eyes as he leaves.
"Don't worry. I'll be back as soon as possible so you won't miss me for too long-"
"Go!" I scream at him, and Niklaus walks out with a smile too. Ugh, boys. My phone then starts to ring and I take it from my pocket. I see it's Rebekah calling.
Perfect timing.
"Kalle. I need you to do a located spell on Elijah." Rebekah remarks.
"Seriously, no 'Hi Kalle! How's your day' or something? You come back to town, not having the decency to tell me and the moment you talk to me you are bossing me to do something." I state annoyed.
"Hi Kalle, how's your day? My day is terrible because Elijah is somewhere daggered because of our paranoid, ass of a brother." Rebekah states in a more irritated tone and I sigh. She did say hi though. Got to take what I can get.
"Well hate to burst your bubble even more, but I already know about Elijah and there's a magical block on him. I can't locate him." I state, as I walk out of the store.
"Great. Just bloody freaking great." Rebekah muttered annoyed, as I started walking down the streets.
"Rebekah, where are you?"
I hear her take a deep breath. "Getting ready to have a very unpleasant conversation." She explains and I get a little confused. "Look, that's not important. What's important is finding Elijah."
For some reason, I am getting a sense that something bad is going to happen. I feel more vampires than usual and the sun is about to set. Which means there will be hundreds in the streets soon.
"I know. And we will, but first I need to find that one night stand." I state in realization.
"Hayley? I thought she was at the house."
"I brought her out to get some fresh air. But it's going to be dark soon and having her out here by herself is not exactly safe." I state, waiting for a response. But silence rings on the phone. "Rebekah?"
"Sorry, Sorry. I was dozing off a little. I'll see you later, okay?" Rebekah asks.
"Yeah, sure. Bye." I state, and she hangs up the phone. I would have dug deeper but I have way too much on my mind right now to worry about my sister day dreaming.
Now, time to find that wolf.
It's getting late and I still have not found Hayley yet. I don't really care much about the girl, but as long as she is carrying my niece, she is of my priority. I guess that means I should be more nicer towards her since we are technically family now.
I would be way nicer if I could just find her. Hopefully she hasn't gotten herself killed, or our hope for this family becoming whole again would go down the drain. It's pitch black outside and she is no where to be seen. I even asked Rebekah to help look, after she was done with her business but she has not had any luck either.
Seriously where could she have gone?
I continue walking through different streets, some more dangerous than others, hoping Hayley will be right around the corner. But that's when I see something. Three whooshes vamp speed past me, and I look towards the direction they went. They went really quickly, but I am willing to bet that someone heard a werewolf was in town and these vampires are here to kill it.
I run, as fast as I can in these boots, to where the vampires went. I cannot stand running and these heels make my feet hurt so much, it makes an aneurism look like child's play compared to this pain.
I finally make my way to where the vampires went, and see one of them talking to Hayley. Good news, I was right. Bad News...I was right.
I then watch as Hayley dumps a cup into his face, and he starts to burn. Huh, maybe she can take care of herself. I make my way up to the situation, seeing two more vampires vamp speed in front of her. But as I walk up to the situation, I break both of their necks with a flick of my fingers.
"Well, that is no way to treat a pregnant lady." I walk up to a surprise Hayley, and cross my arms. "So, mind telling me why you are out in the middle of no where?"
Haylee looks down for a moment, and glances at her stomach, before looking back up towards me. "I would rather not."
I squint my eyes at her. "Hmm. Alright. Well, come on let's go back home."
"You didn't tell Klaus about me leaving, did you?" Hayley questions and I shake my head no.
"I didn't but I don't think these vampires came because they just magically sensed you. Marcel probably sent them, which means my brother probably knows anyways." I explain, and she shakes her head worriedly. I turn around and start walking. "So let's get home before Niklaus is off with my he-"
I then feel a whoosh and see Niklaus and Rebekah standing in front of me.
"Too late." Niklaus says angered, and I sigh. Niklaus looks at the bodies on the ground, before looking back at me in fury.
"What? I didn't kill anyone." I put my hands up in defense.
"Home. Now."
Rebekah vamp speeds Hayley and I back to the house, while Niklaus comes back a few seconds afterwards. He is carrying the bodies of the vampires that were after Hayley. I believe he should be more grateful I didn't try to rip the hearts out of those vampires who tried to kill my niece.
Oh, and Hayley.
Nik then starts going on a rant about how we should not have left the house, and how he has a plan to steal control from Marcel and blah blah blah. I got bored half way through.
"Fine, I admit I shouldn't have left Hayley alone." I state, cutting off Niklaus screaming at us.
"You shouldn't have let her out of the house in the first place!!" Niklaus screams angered and I roll my eyes.
"She's not a prisoner, you cannot keep her held up here." I argue back and Niklaus glares at me.
"You don't get it do you? I have a plan to execute here, I need Marcel to trust me. But having his night walkers have their necks broken by a witch, when no witches are supposed to use their goddamn powers in this town, make it hard to achieve that." Niklaus states angrily, then turns to face Rebekah. "And you, leaving a trail of dead bodies right to us like a road map!"
"A plan?! All you have been doing is sipping bears with Marcel, while our brother rots in a coffin because of your selfishness!" I scream angered at him now.
"You know nothing."
"Yes she does. We both do!" Rebekah cuts in, and Nik turns to face her now. "The only reason that baby is not dead is because Elijah made a deal to protect that child, and you stabbed him in the back. And you obviously don't care about either because what have you done to honor his deal?"
Niklaus looks between the both of us frustrated, before answering. "I have done...everything!! While you, sister, believe I have just been having some drinks with Marcel, I actually have been one step ahead of him this entire time. Siring his newly turned vampires before he had the chance to give them vervain, compelling the girl he is interested in to go out on a date with him, and all of it so I can build up dirt on him to find out how he has this control over the city, take it for my own and take back my city!" Niklaus thens turns to take one of the vampire's and starts dragging him into the house. "And with this one, I will drain the vervain out of his system, compel him that his mates found peace and moved to Utah, so he could explain how Marcel lost three more vampires tonight!"
As Niklaus drags the body into the house, Rebekah, Hayley and I follow him in as well. Once we get inside, Niklaus drops the body next to the front door.
"So!" Niklaus turns to face us, "Anymore bloody questions?"
I turn to face Rebekah, feeling kind of defeated at this point. He did have a good point...in everything he said. Which sucks because I hate when he is right.
But neither one of us say anything, and he continues. "No? Good! Because I have a question. Hayley, what were you doing in the quarter anyways?"
I have a feeling whatever she is about to say is not going to be anything good. "I already told you Nik, she needed some fresh air."
"I didn't ask you, Kalle, I asked the girl who has a guilty expression of her face, one expression I do not like all too well and want to know why she was in the BLOODY QUATER!"
"You want to know what I was doing?" Hayley steps up to Nik. "I was buying poison so I could put your little baby out of its misery."
Before I can even notice, Niklaus pins Hayley to the wall by the throat. Am I surprised? Not really, but she is pregnant and we cannot have Nik's tantrums.
Luckily, Rebekah quickly moved him away from Hayley and I went to check on her.
"KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF HER SHE IS PREGNANT FOR GODS SAKE!" Rebekah screams at him, as I help Hayley up from the wall.
"You okay?" I ask, and while she is breathing heavily, she slowly nods her head yes. I then look towards Niklaus, who is still staring at us angrily. "What the hell is wrong with you? You talk all this crap about not wanting a child but you are ready to kill her the moment she says she wants to get rid of it!"
I watch as Niklaus's eyes finally move away from anger, and he starts to calm down.
"It's okay to care, Nik. It's okay to want something. That's all Elijah ever wanted to do, that's all he's ever wanted for you." Rebekah states, before looking towards me. I can actually see Nik's eyes getting red, so I give him a sympathetic look, before Rebekah turns to face him again. "All we've ever wanted."
Niklaus then looks in between the both of us, before taking a seat. Rebekah takes a seat next to him, and I take a few steps closer to them, but stay standing.
We all just stay here in silence for a few seconds, waiting for Niklaus to talk, to say anything.
"I gave Elijah Marcel." Okay, anything but that.
"What?" Rebekah asks, shocked and mad. I am mad as well, but I knew Marcel had something to do with it, so I'm not surprised.
Niklaus explains to us how he had to if he wanted to gain Marcel's trust. It was too much to handle, having two originals back in town so Nik gave him Elijah. In return, Nik be able to bring down Marcel's empire from the inside. Making it so the town is 'safe' and he can raise the child. Honoring Elijah's wish.
I am not necessarily sure this is what Elijah meant.
"This is the only way I know how to operate. If you don't like it, either of you...there's the door. See if I care." Nik states uninterestedly, before getting up and rudely walking past me. He walks out of the room, leaving all of us in utter despair.
"Well, that was eventful." I state sarcastically.
"I am going to Marcel." Rebekah gets up, but I grab her arm.
"Absolutely not."
"Kalle."
"Rebekah, we both know your history with him. I don't want to jeopardize us getting Elijah back because of that history." I explain, and she makes me let go of her arm.
"I am not the same girl I was then."
"Yeah, and neither is Marcel."
"Trust me, I know." Rebekah remarks, and I look at her questioningly. "Kalle, I will be fine."
"Bex, you're telling me if it comes down to it, you will do whatever is necessary to get Elijah back?" I question.
"Yes-"
"Including killing him?"
"Please, you're against killing."
"Yeah, and I would have a better chance than you."
"Kalle!" Rebekah yells, before taking a deep breath. "I can tell you I love Elijah way more than I ever loved Marcel, and will do whatever it takes to get him back."
That I know is the truth. I'm not entirely sure she will go to drastic lengths against Marcel, but she always figures something out.
"Fine. But if you get seduced by him, don't say I didn't warn you." I remark, and she rolls her eyes before vamp speeding out. I turn around to see Hayley still standing there, in awkwardness.
"So... is it this crazy everyday?" She questions, and I think for a moment.
"No, most days we are trying to kill each other, rather than others. So today? Not as bad as the future to come." I state sincerely, walking up towards her.
"Oh...just great." Hayley says unenthusiastically and I wrap my arm around her.
"Yep! Welcome to the family. Should have got rid of that baby when you had the chance." I whisper to her and she sighs.
"Is it too late?" She questions worriedly, and I nod my head. Her face stays somber, and I laugh.
"Come on, let's get to bed, it's been a long day."
