"You…wished to speak with me, Mr. Arc?" Ozpin said to his unexpected guest as he entered his office.

"Um, yes, Headmaster, Sir. Uh, I…I wanted to.." the boy replied.

"Please, Mr. Arc, have a seat." Ozpin said, motioning his hand towards the seat right in front of him. "I'm not that intimidating, am I?"

"No, Sir, not at all." Jaune said with a slight chuckle as he did as he was told.

"Now, please continue."

"Right…well, um, I wanted to, well, bring to your attention that I have done something that I shouldn't have. I want to confess, basically."

Ozpin raised his eyebrow as a small smirk became apparent on his face, catching Jaune off guard. "Oh? And just what did you do, Mr. Arc?"

"My transcripts, Sir. I forged them. They're fake. I don't belong here."

"I see. May I ask how you were able to perform such a task?"

I'm only here to get myself in trouble, Sir. Not anyone else."

Ozpin let out a small laugh, confusing Jaune even more. "There it is."

"Excuse me, Sir?"

"All of those 'Uh's, U'm's', and 'Well's'. There was an intent there. They were purposeful. It was like you were hiding some sense of confidence within you. As if you came to confess with no true regard for the outcome. At long last, though, you let it out."

Crap, Jaune thought. Ozpin was right. Because this conversation would end up being nothing more than a ripple in time, Jaune wasn't really worried about what Ozpin would say to him, a stark contrast from the fear he had about being expelled that prevented him from ever coming forward during his actual time at Beacon. Jaune had chosen to do this because it was one in a long list of deviations he could cause that would screw him over. Those were his favorite. He was starting to regret this choice, however. A lecture from Ozpin was to be expected either way, sure, but this was just becoming a situation too uncomfortable for the Time Traveler thanks to the Headmaster's way of discussing the topic. Why couldn't he just get it over with and expel him? He had places to be. Changes to cause.

"Tell me, Mr. Arc. Why did you do it? What possibly could have propelled you to commit such an act?"

"I didn't want to be a disappointment, Sir. I come from a long line of warriors. I'm sure you're aware of that. But, those genes didn't really do me any favors. I was nothing compared to those that came before me. I'm still not. I was so tired of seeing my family look at me the same way, so I did anything I could to change that."

"I assumed." Ozpin's words made Jaune's demeanor change once more. "You see, Mr. Arc, I've been aware of your forgery since the very beginning."

"You knew?"

"That's what I said. Don't tell me someone who aspired to join this fine institution decided to underestimate it as well!"

"I…guess I did." Jaune replied, causing Ozpin to chuckle. "If you knew, then why am I still here? Does it have something to do with my Family Name?"

"Not in the way you think. Who was I to deny someone showing such serious levels of commitment? Even if you were, apologies for my language, an utter failure, you could have still gotten through life comfortably thanks to your lineage. The Arc's are not anywhere near as powerful as the Schnee's, for example, but you still would have been just fine. The fact that you were still trying your hardest to get in under any means imaginable gave me a…hunch, let's call it. It told me that you had potential. And as long you applied yourself, I told myself that I would allow you to continue your studies here at Beacon."

"But I.." Jaune was immediately cut off .

"You can think anything you want, Mr. Arc, but the fact remains that, objectively, others don't share the same sentiment. While the leadership skills you displayed during your initiation were nothing out of this world, they only further cemented my belief that your potential can take you places one of these days. And then of course there is your friends. Your teammates think highly of you. That is apparent. You have their utter faith and confidence. They trust you not just as a comrade, but as a friend as well. And this ability extents to others as well. The friendship between Ms. Rose and you is a special one. The way you two bounce ideas off each other, confide in and comfort one another, and learn from each other through your friendship is something that I, as Headmaster, wish I could be seeing more of here at Beacon. You deserve to be here, Jaune."

As silly as it seemed, Jaune honestly felt like he was holding back tears. He got up and began to leave.

"May I ask where you are going?"

"Believe me, Sir, I trust your word. I have faith in myself right now. But there is still something I need to do that makes it absolutely clear to me that I have what it takes to be a Hero."

"Chapters will continue to (hopefully) come out every Sunday until the beginning of September". I said that almost two years ago. I honestly really wasn't sure if I was going to continue with this series. As my life went on, I lost motivation and interest to continue doing this. Recently, however, as I am sure you are all aware, Rooster Teeth shut down, and that got me pretty nostalgic for their stories and characters that helped me get through the 2020 lockdown. On top of that, a friend of mine recently asked me if I had ever written fanfiction, and I admitted that I had. It had me thinking about all of the plans I had for this series and others that I never got to, and that really helped motivate me to bring this back. As such, I would like to apologize. If you go through each chapter, you will notice that almost all of my messages are me apologizing for not releasing a chapter when I was supposed to. I promise to you that those are over. From now until May 5th, I can assure you that one new chapter will released every Sunday. For once I can assure you that this will be the case because I have already completed those chapters. Chapter 20 will mark the end of Volume 1 of this series, and I will resume with Volume 2 sometime in early June. In the meantime, I will be starting two other series, and I'll likely be finishing one of them because I plan for it to be pretty short. Finally, regardless of if you are reading this because you were genuinely interested in the release of this new chapter or just wanted to remember what this series was about because you saw the alert, I sincerely thank you for reading and hope you enjoy what is to come. Rereading some old chapters made me realize how edgy some of the contents here were, so I hope to be able to finish this series with better quality compared to what came before.
