Surviving Formorrow
Stop Hurting the Rabbit Dammit!
Author Notes: Any fans of the game know exactly where I'm going with this title. I love rabbits, I love digimon-so of course I love digimon rabbits. So Lopmon is by default in the "must love and protect till my dying breath" category.
And well...knowing lopmon and it's evolution history in the franchise, i didn't take this well lol. So with that said, somewhat spoilers ahead folks-do not read unless you know what's already happened. I do not own digimon. Oh and surprise suprise-it's easter time. Perfect!
3rd P.O.V
It was simmering deep within him. "Sh-Shuji, please! I-I'll try harder for you. Please don't be upset." It grew more and more with each passing day. "Shut up! God why are you so useless?" Like a festering wound the pain lingered. A band aid was trying to cover it.
But it was doing nothing. Oh yes. The rage knew no bounds as Takuma sat there, listening. His conflicted mind argued back and forth. On one hand, this wasn't any of his business. Lopmon was Shuji's partner. The problems that occur were between them and them alone.
Especially with the fact that Lopmon didn't stand up for himself. He was ok with letting Shuji 'train him' into getting stronger. He said it was fine that Shuji yells at him. "I-I'm sorry..." On the other hand however...this was abuse.
Painful, horrible abuse that shouldn't be happening. Lopmon under no circumstance should have to deal with it. And currently, it was those passionate thoughts that circulated through Takuma while he was eating lunch.
Aoi on his left, Minoru on his right. Saki, Miu and Kaito sat across from him. "Takuma?" But it was only Kaito who was directly in front of him that saw the rage in his eyes. "Then stop sniveling already." Enough was enough. Takuma had tried peacefully to tell Shuji to knock off this shit.
Multiple times actually. So the fact that he still refused to stop left his fourteen year old junior no choice. He slammed both of his palms onto the table, startling everyone. The room was completely silent as Takuma stood up.
All eyes were on him. All wide, shocked eyes. "Shuji you're being an absolute asshole. Stop yelling at Lopmon." Shuji at first blinked, just as startled as the rest of the group. However he recovered quickly, crossing his arms with a scowl as he jutted up his chin.
"This has nothing to do with you Takuma. Stay out of it." He tried. The first time Shuji said that to him he lost his nerve. Figuring he was out of line and that he shouldn't interfere. Again and again he felt he should not be involved.
Even now that sense of doubt on whether or not he should speak his mind was strong. Glancing down at poor, teary eyed Lopmon who was trembling on the ground gave him the motivation to exhale. "No...I don't think I will this time." His tone was calm, quiet.
It was odd since the raven haired boy though usually calm, he was loud. He kept conversations going and always said what the people around him wanted to hear. He kept their spirits up and headaches to a minimum. "Excuse me?"
Seeing a harsh glare, cold undertones in his voice, it didn't sound right. It wasn't the Takuma they knew. "I'm done listening to you. Every day I hear you treat Lopmon like shit and i'm sick of sitting on the sidelines letting it happen!" Agumon was moving the distraught creature in question away.
Out of the line of fire as the two humans males faced one another. "Who are you to talk to me like this? This isn't any of your business-" Takuma's eyes flashed dangerously as he swiped his hand in between them. Effectively cutting his upperclassman off.
"I'm making it my fucking business. I know it may not seem like it to you, but Lopmon is YOUR partner. You're the last person to be insulting him. I know if you said a quarter of the crap you say to Lopmon to Agumon, I'd have your face full of my fist imprints."
Now that Takuma released his feelings on the subject, there was no stopping it now. "These little guys around us may not be human, but they can get hurt. They fight and protect us from danger. They have FUCKING FEELINGS!" Like a volcano he was bursting, unable and unwilling to stop.
There was nothing and no one that was going to stand in Takuma's way. With swift hands, he gripped Shuji's shirt, pulling him close. Height wise, Shuji had the advantage, theoretically he should've been able to overpower Takuma. Should have been able to easily break free from his grasp.
But he couldn't. "Every insult is like poison, you add more each and every time, uncaring about how it affects him. He fights for you, gets hurt for you when all you do is verbally abuse him. Making him question what he's doing wrong. As if HE's the problem!" Not while staring up close to those pained eyes.
"He's not the problem though. YOU are. You're the one who's not working with him. You are the one that's holding him back. Everyone else here have partners they at the very least have a decent relationship with." With strength no one expected, Takuma shoved Shuji towards the ground.
Shuji's glasses fell off his face as he landed on his shoulder. Forced to look up at Takuma still staring down at him. His hand stretched out behind him, pointing to the others who had pale complexions. All of them completely frozen in place.
"All of us have partners who can evolve. Did you think maybe if you actually treated Lopmon decently he'd be able to do more?!" Sighing Takuma shook his head. The energy he had died out as tears pricked the corners of his eyes.
A stark contrast to the hatred he felt moments ago. "Not once...have you ever praised Lopmon. Not a single thank you. I know if I was in Lopmon's position, I at the very least wouldn't want to be your partner...I'd rather die than take the abuse he's been dealing with day in and out." A wounded sound left Agumon.
His clawed arms still gently wrapped around sobbing Lopmon. "In the end, you're right Shuji...none of this is my business. He's your partner, this is something the both of you should work out. Emphasis on both." The tension in Takuma's shoulders sagged with another sigh.
"Mark my words Shuji, the shit you say, the way you treat him...it doesn't end well for anybody. For both of your sakes I seriously suggest you get your shit together. Because I can guarantee. You won't like what else I have to say to you if I keep seeing you hurt him."
Tears dripped down his face then. He clenched and unclenched his hands, debating on his next choice of words. However after a few seconds he opened his mouth. Those next few sentences dropping the temperature down several degrees.
He turned away, avoiding everyone's' gazes. "If it were up to me, I'd never let Lopmon anywhere near you...because I know how it feels to hurt. To feel so much pain that death sounds a hell of a lot better then putting up with it all. Don't stain your hands and mouth anymore than you already have."
Finally finished Takuma walked away. He ignored the nervous glances sent his way when he reached Lopmon. He was still sniffling, flinching when Takuma stood in front of him. Slowly, the raven haired boy knelt down before him, offering a sad smile as he gently rubbed his face with his shirt.
For a brief instance, while using his shirt to clean, Aoi and Minoru saw them. "Takuma!?" Jagged white scars on his stomach. Their concerned gasps were ignored, Takuma's gaze only on the sobbing being in front of him.
"Do you want to take a walk with me and Agumon? The choice is yours." Hesitantly Lopmon glanced between Takuma and his partner. His voice wavered after a few moments of tense silence. "C-can I come?"
Agumon happily nodded against the little rabbit beast. Nuzzling the top of his head as he answered in Takuma's stead. "Of course." Together the three walked away. Leaving everyone stunned and thoughtful. Their lunch left cold and forgotten.
the end
Author Notes: LOPMONNNNNNNNN! I love you please don't be sad! Why couldn't we stand up for the poor sweetie!? Why did we have to fricking do a second round and arguably have the rudest character talk some sense into Shuji!? Hell have Kaito do it since he gave a damn about Dracmon.
Ohhhhh the desire to punch Shuji over and over again for every time he was mean-Grrr...well. At least things go better...eventually. But uh yeah before I go into rant mode, I gotta end it there. Guys thank you so much for reading. If you like please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean so much to me. Tchao for now!
