CHAPTER 3: QUESTIONS...
SUMMARY:
"He was my dad, Kensi and I shot him." Marty whispered. This takes place after the series finale. Deeks has a nightmare about the past. Why now and how will it affect the present?
"Is that where Max came from?" Kensi asked softly and Marty nodded.
"I guess that who I would have become if I was like my dad. I don't remember him ever smiling or happy. He was always beating my mom and I. I never got to ask him why he was the way he was. Hetty told me he died in 1996. Why Kensi? Why was he like that?" Marty asked.
"I'm not sure, Marty. Have you had nightmares like this before?" Kensi inquired. "Yes, but in some of them I become a monster like him and hurt my family the way he hurt me." Marty told her.
"Have you thought about talking to Nate or someone?" Kensi asked him. "You're the first one I've told the whole story to since it happened. I'm not sure I can repeat the story again." Marty told her.
"Okay, maybe you can find out where he's buried or write a letter to him. But you cannot keep it locked up inside." Kensi said and Marty pulled her closer.
"Thank you, Kensi." He whispered. "For what?" Kensi asked confused. "For listening to me and not judging me or joking about it." Marty replied.
A FEW HOURS LATER...
0545 (5:45 AM)...
Kensi woke up and noticed that Marty was still asleep.
As quietly as she could so not to disturb him, Kensi slipped out of bed.
After stopping by the bathroom, she went to check on Dominic who was laying in his crib and looking around.
Kensi changed his diaper and then picked him up. Dominic looked so much like Marty.
Hearing something headed for the bedroom...
KENSI & MARTY'S BEDROOM...
"No...Kensi don't shoot...sorry." Marty muttered in his sleep tossing and turning.
"Marty...wake up, Marty!" Kensi called as she shook him. "NO!" Marty yelled sitting up in bed.
"Hey, what happened?" Kensi asked sitting down on the edge of the bed with Dominic still in her arms.
"Kens...I killed you..." Was all he said. "No you didn't I'm right here. What happened?"Kensi repeated and Marty gave a sigh.
"I-I'm not sure. You were standing over me with a shot gun pointed at me and I just shot you. You were standing over me the same way my dad did and I killed you." Marty told her.
"Marty, I'm right here and that's not going to happen." Kensi told him. "Guess we better get ready for work or they might miss us." Marty tried to joke, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Marty..." Kensi began. "I'm good, Kens." Marty said getting up.
