Hermoine gulped in a breath. "Yes, Harry I think we need to talk." She replied.
Harry nodded and turned to Ron. "Who did you get matched with?" he asked. Ron stood up and opened his letter. He read the letter and his eyes widened.
"I'M MARRYING LAVENDAR BROWN!" he yelled. Both Harry and I did our best not to laugh.
In Hogwarts, Ron had a fling with Lavendar Brown and now he wanted nothing to do with her. I turned to Harry and spoke.
"I think you and I need to speak in private." I said. Ron looked up from his letter and sighed.
"I'll be at the burrow if you want to talk." He said. We nodded and watched as he made his way to the fireplace and left to the burrow.
I turned to Harry. "What are we going to do?" I asked. Harry sighed. "Hermoine, as much as we don't like this law, we have no choice. I myself would be honored to be married to a witch like you." He said.
My eyes widened. "Harry, we have to be a real married couple with a child in 2 years!" I said.
Harry nodded. " I read the letter that I got." He said. "I don't see anyway out of this." He continued.
"I wanted to be happy and I wanted to marry Ginny. Ginny is too young for the law, but I was willing to wait for her to graduate Hogwarts. It wouldn't be good for a professor to be married to a student. He said.
I nodded and waited for him to continue.
"I don't want this law and I know for certain, you don't want this law, but we have no choice." He finished.
I sighed. I never really considered how Harry felt.
He loved Ginny. How were we supposed to have a good marriage if his heart was somewhere else? I felt the tears start to well up in my eyes and quickly wiped them away. Harry however noticed this.
"Hermoine, please don't cry. I could not live with myself if I make you sad." He said.
I nodded and turned to Harry. "It's not you making me cry. It's the thought that you will be sad that you can't marry Ginny." I said.
"I don't want to be the cause of your sadness and I don't want you to resent me for you not having the life you wanted." I finished.
Harry sighed. "I just need some time to think." He said.
" I know our wedding is in a week and we need to decide where we are going to live and work." He continued.
"I just need a day or two to sort things out and to tell Ginny what's going on." He said.
I nodded because I could form no words in my mouth. Harry turned and left without another word, and I let the tears fall.
What was I going to do? Harry didn't want to marry me and yet, here we were being forced to have a real marriage.
It was going to make Harry sad and I didn't want to be the cause of that. What was I going to do?
I went to the freezer and took out some Ben and Jerry's Ice cream – Banana chocolate flavor and went to my room.
I cried for hours and ate my ice cream in between.
A girl has got to deal with heartache somehow.
