The Winkster and Winkette continued to play with Barney, Dani, and Aaron throughout the afternoon. And when it became the evening, the group of five were still hanging out. This is when Dani started to realize that she developed a huge liking for Winkette despite only first meeting the woman a few hours ago. She never knew she would make an adult friend who loves to have fun like a little kid can.
"Winkette?" Dani said to Winkette.
"Yes Dani?" Winkette said.
"I never knew that you could act like a kid," said Dani.
"Well, it's not on purpose," said Winkette. "It's just natural for me. Why? Is that a bad thing…?"
"Absolutely not!" said Dani. 'It's really great to finally see a grown-up have fun like a kid can. Most grown-ups are so boring…"
"That's true," said Winkette. "That's very true…"
"Oh?" said Dani. "You think so, too, Winkette?"
"Oh yes," said Winkette. "Grown-ups are very boring. Thank goodness I have my twin brother, the Winkster."
She then said to Dani, "What do you think about him, Dani?
"Oh Winkette, I think the Winkster is great!" said Dani.
"You really think so?" said Winkette, surprised to hear that the child liked the Winkster.
"Absolutely!" said Dani, happily. "He's so fun! And he's very silly!"
"I agree," said Winkette, with a little giggle. "My brother loves to have fun and be silly. Just like me! I don't know what I would do without him…"
"Seems like you both still have your inner child inside," said Dani. "It's best not to get rid of it."
The little girl smiles at Winkette and said to her, "I really like you, Winkette. You're such a nice person. And you're very fun to be around."
"You really think so, Dani?" said Winkette. "But we just met for the first time a few hours ago."
"Yeah so?" said Dani.
"I'm just surprised that we became friends," said Winkette. "My brother and I have a very hard time making friends…"
"Really?" said Dani. "But you two are very friendly and super fun!"
"I know," said Winkette. "But-"
"Hey girls," Aaron said, entering the scene. "Did I miss anything?"
"Not at all, Aaron," said Winkette. "Dani and I were just talking about things. You're welcome to joi-"
Winkette was interrupted again. But this time, by a spider on a string of web that was right in front of her face.
"AAAAAAHH!" she screamed, as she falls backwards.
Turns out it wasn't a real spider. It was a toy rubber spider hanging from a piece of spring. And it was yet another prank pulled by the Winkster.
"Ha ha ha ha haaa haaaaaaaaa!" the Winkster laughed.
"Winkster!" Winkette cried, looking straight at him.
"Gotcha again, sis!" said the Winkster. "Hehehehehe!"
"See what I meant when I said this earlier, kids?" Winkette said to Dani and Aaron. "He pranks me all the time!"
She saw that the two kids were laughing as she said in an annoyed voice, "Come on, it's not funny…!"
"Come on, Winkette," said the Winkster. "Have a little laugh."
He hugs her and said, "I still love you."
"I do, too," said Winkette.
Since her brother was hugging her, Winkette had an idea. She smiles sneakily, grabbed the rubber spider, and dropped it down the Winkster's shirt.
"Aaahh!" cried the Winkster, wiggling himself around. "Why is it so cold?! Winkette, you little!"
"The Winkster has a spider in his pants!" Aaron said.
Winkette, Dani, and Aaron laughed. The rubber spider then came out of one of the Winkster's pant legs as it landed onto the floor. He then gave his sister a dirty look.
"What…?" Winkette said to her brother. "You pranked me a lot today! Don't I get a turn for once? Hmmm…?"
"Well…" said the Winkster. "I guess you can."
"I thought so," said Winkette. "Thank you…"
"Winkster?" Dani said to the Winkster.
"Yes Dani?" the Winkster said.
"Do you know where Barney is?" Dani asked. "He's not here to join us."
"I think he's still inside the house," said the Winkster. "Want me to go find him and bring him out here?"
"Sure," said Dani.
"Alright," said the Winkster. "I'll be right back, guys. Don't go anywhere."
As the Winkster goes back inside Dani's house to look for Barney, Winkette started to get bored. And since she and the two kids were outside on the front porch, Winkette climbed onto the narrow railing on top of the many pillars and she started to slow walk across on it. Dani and Aaron were amazed that the woman had such good balance since she wasn't struggling to stay on.
"Woooooooooow..." said Dani, all amazed.
"You sure you don't need a balancing stick, Winkette?" Aaron asked Winkette.
"No Aaron, I'm fine," said Winkette. "But thanks for the offer."
A minute later, the Winkster came back outside. This time with Barney.
"I found him, guys!" the Winkster said. "He's back!"
Because of the volume of the Winkster's voice and that he just came back, Winkette was caught off guard as she lost her concentration and slipped as she shouted "WHOA!" She then fell off the porch railing as she landed into a bush. But since she fell head first, Winkette was now upside down with only her feet sticking out. She couldn't get herself out of the bush because of the position she was in. The Winkster saw his sister fall down, so he was worried, especially because Winkette was struggling to free herself.
"Oh no!" the Winkster cried, seeing his sister struggling to get out of the bush. "Winkette!"
"HELP!" Winkette cried, wiggling her legs. "HELP! GET ME OUT OF HERE! SOMEBODY!"
"I'm coming, Winkette!" said the Winkster, running off the porch.
Dani and Aaron look down where Winkette was in worry. The Winkster quickly runs over to the bush, grabs his sister's legs, and pulls her out.
"Heh heh…" the Winkster said, as he flips his sister back on her feet and puts her on the ground. "Sorry sis…"
"You did that on purpose…!" Winkette said, giving her brother an annoyed look.
"What?" said the Winkster. "No I didn't. This was completely unintentional!"
"Yeah right…" said Winkette, not believing him. "Winkster, how many times have you pranked me today…?"
"A few times," said the Winkster. "But I didn't prank you this time. I swear! You really think I would let you get stuck on purpose and not help you out?"
"Well…No…" said Winkette. "No, you wouldn't do that to me, actually."
"See, there you go," said the Winkster. "Yes, I love playing tricks on you, but I would never do it to the point where you end up in any sticky situation. Especially if it ends with you getting hurt. That's one of the last things I want to happen…"
He gives his twin sister a warm hug.
"Awww…" said Winkette, hugging her brother warmly in return.
Dani and Aaron run over to the twins as the thought that Winkette was hurt.
"Winkette, are you okay?!" Dani asked.
"Are you alright, Winkette?!" Aaron asked.
"Yes, I'm fine," said Winkette. "I'm okay…"
"Oh good!" said Dani, giving Winkette a hug. "Thank goodness!"
"Hey guys?" Aaron said to everyone. "I have to go home in two hours. You want play some more before we all go home for the night?"
"Sure thing, Aaron," said the Winkster, then saying to Winkette, "Wanna keep playing with Barney and the kids, Winkette?"
"Sure Winkster," said Winkette, then saying to Barney and the two kids, "Dani? Aaron? Barney? You three can go into the house and get ready. The Winkster and I will be there in a few minutes."
"Okay," said Dani. "Come on, Aaron. Barney."
"Right behind you, Dani," said Aaron.
"Me too," said Barney.
As Dani, Aaron, and Barney went back into the house, the Winkster and the Winkette stayed outside on the front porch. And while alone together, the Winkster sees that his sister was starting to think about something.
"What are you thinking about, sis?" he asked Winkette.
"A lot has happened today…" Winkette said. "What do you think, Winkster? You noticed anything?"
"Well, one thing is…" said the Winkster. "We made new friends today!"
"And I didn't think this would happen," said Winkette.
"Really?" said the Winkster. "Why not?"
"Well, we took Barney from them earlier today," said Winkette. "I'm surprised they forgave us. And just you and I making friends is very hard for us in general…"
"Yeah, that's very true…" the Winkster agreed. "But it's great that we made new friends today, right?"
"Oh yes, it is," said Winkette. "I really wish it was easier to do that…"
"Well, as long as we say please and thank you," said the Winkster, "and we know how to share, we're okay. Remember when Barney taught us that a while ago?"
"Yes, I remember him giving us that piece of advice," said Winkette. "After you stole the Barney Bag and I stole Baby Bop's blankie…"
"Right…" said the Winkster.
"Cause we thought getting people to play a game of chase with us would be fun and be like having friends," said Winkette. "Well…Almost…"
"Yeah…" said the Winkster.
"Why do you think we never had friends growing up when we still lived with our mom and dad?" Winkette said.
"Besides how we are and how we look," said the Winkster, "we took things from other people without asking. Or rather…"
He then starts joking around by saying, "Sometimes we try to take things that belong to other folks."
"No, don't sing it!" Winkette laughed. "Hehehe!"
"Okay okay," said the Winkster, with a chuckle. "Well, we like to have some fun, we like to play our little jokes."
He tickles his sister.
"Winkster!" Winkette laughed again.
The Winkster just giggled.
"Oh!" Winkette said, spotting something in the sky. "Winkster look!"
"What is it, Winkette?" the Winkster said.
He looks up and sees something shining brightly in the sky.
"Is that a shooting star?" he wondered.
"I don't know," said Winkette. "But it's very bright."
"It must be the first star," said the Winkster, then gasping and saying, "Hey, that means you get to make wish!"
He playfully nudges his sister and he said to her, "You lucky duck…!"
Winkette just looks at her brother.
"What?" said the Winkster. "You spotted it first."
"You're right, I did," said Winkette. "Okay, I'll make a wish."
Winkette looks up at the sky and recites, "Star light…Star bright…First star I see tonight…I wish I may…I wish I might…Have the wish I wished tonight."
She then closes her eyes and says, "I wish…I wish my brother and I can go on an adventure as we haven't been on a real adventure in a good while. And our adventure I wish to happen will be not only fun, but an adventure that hasn't been done before by anyone. Please make my wish come true…Please…? Love Winkette."
Winkette opens her eyes and turns around as she says, "How's that, Winkster?"
She realizes her brother wasn't next to her yet again.
"Winkster?" Winkette said, looking around. "Winkster!"
She then asked herself, "Where did he go this time…?"
"BOO!" cried the Winkster, quickly grabbing Winkette from behind.
"AAAAHHH!" Winkette screamed.
She turns around and sees her brother right there with her again.
"Oh Winkster!" she said, as she playfully pushes her brother.
"Gotcha yet again, sis!" the Winkster laughed. "Whoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!"
"I can never get away from you…" said Winkette, with a little smile.
"You most certainly cannot…" said the Winkster, smiling back. "And now I'm coming at you again!"
The Winkster starts to tickle his sister's belly again.
"Winkster!" Winkette laughed. "Stop! Uncle!"
The Winkster stops tickling her.
"Thanks…" said Winkette. "Now come on, let's go play with Barney and our two new friends. Aaron has to go home soon and so do we."
"Right sis," said the Winkster. "Let's do that."
The twins went back into Dani's house to play with her and Aaron as well as with Barney. Then two hours later, it was time to go home for the night. So after saying goodbye to Barney and the kids, the Winkster and Winkette went back to their house. But the two then became hungry as they haven't eaten since breakfast that morning and they didn't have a proper lunch. So they decided to eat some leftovers from the previous night for a late dinner. And as the twins were eating, they started to talk about their day.
"So Winkster," Winkette said to her brother. "What do you think of Dani and Aaron?"
"I think they're great!" the Winkster said.
"I think so, too!" said Winkette. "They're very nice kids."
"Hey Winkette?" said the Winkster.
"Yes Winkster?" said Winkette.
"I did notice something else today," said the Winkster.
"Oh?" said Winkette. "What's that?"
"I noticed how Dani was acting around you," the Winkster said. "I think she likes you."
"Yeah, she told me," Winkette said.
"She did?" said the Winkster.
"Yeah," said Winkette. "She said I have an inner child and that I was really using it."
She then pauses and remembers something as she said, "Hey Winkster, you were right!"
"I am?" said the Winkster.
"Yes!" Winkette said. "Before we met the kids, you said, "Just give the kids a chance, Winkette. Besides, maybe they'll see something in you that they'll both really like." Do you remember saying that to me this afternoon, Winkster?"
"Yes, I remember saying that to you," said the Winkster.
"So you were right," said Winkette. "The kids saw something in me that they liked. Dani said it's my inner child. Do you agree, Winkster?"
"Oh yes, I do," the Winkster agreed. "I absolutely agree indeed. I always knew you still had your inner child inside you, Winkette. And you really showed it today. You're really good with kids, sis."
"Thank you, Winkster," said Winkette, as she smiled. "I had a lot of fun today."
"Me too, Winkette," said the Winkster, as he smiled as well. "I can't wait to see Dani and Aaron again soon."
The Winkster and Winkette continued to eat their late dinner with each other since they had to go to bed soon. And once they finished their evening meal, the twins cleared the table and washed the dishes together. Then after that, the brother and sister both started to get ready for bed. The twins got their pajamas on and brushed their teeth. The Winkster and Winkette then went into their shared bedroom. And after crawling into their separate beds, the two turned off the light and went to sleep.
During the middle of the night, in the sky appeared to be a shooting star moving towards the ground. It went towards the outdoor shed in the twins' backyard as it managed to crash through the window, breaking it, and landing inside. And since the glass shattering was so loud, it woke up both twins at once.
"Winkster, did you hear that?!" Winkette said, as she was shot awake by the noise.
"I did!" the Winkster said, as he was also shot awake by the noise. "I heard glass breaking!"
"You think someone broke into our house…?!" Winkette asked, starting to get scared.
"I don't know!" said the Winkster, feeling nervous. "I hope not!"
The two quickly get out of their beds.
"Don't worry, Winkette…" said the Winkster, hugging his scared sister. "We're going to check every room in the house to make sure nothing awful happen. Just stick by me and I'll lead the way, okay?"
"Okay Winkster…" said Winkette, holding her brother's hand.
The twins checked every room in their house as a precaution. And to their surprise, nothing has been touched. Also, none of the windows were broken and were still intact into their frames.
"That's odd…" the Winkster said, a bit surprised and somewhat dumbfounded. "Everything is still here in their places…They're all untouched…"
"If nothing in this house was touched…" Winkette said, "Then where did the glass breaking noise come from…?"
"I'm not sure…" said the Winkster. "But it shot us both awake because it was so loud…"
The two think for a minute. Then the twins looked at each other as they both shouted in unison, "The shed!"
"You think someone snuck into the backyard and broke into our shed?!" said Winkette.
"Maybe…" said the Winkster.
"But who would want to do that…?" Winkette wondered. "I don't think there's anything in the shed that someone would want. Is there…?"
"I don't know, Winkette…" the Winkster said. "But we have to look and make sure nothing was taken or damaged. Let's go, sis…"
"But I don't want to go..." said Winkette, all scared.
"Why not?" the Winkster asked. "What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid of the dark..." Winkette said. "And I'm scared the burglar is going to hurt me!"
The Winkster saw that his sister was terrified. But he wanted her to come with him to help out since the Winkster didn't want to do this alone. And he never leaves Winkette behind no matter what's going on. So he tried to calm his twin down and reassure her because they both have to face what could be a possible break-in.
"Winkette...It's alright..." the Winkster said to his sister, hugging her close.
"What are we going to do, Winkster...?!" Winkette asked nervously.
"We're going to go outside and into the shed to see what's going on," said the Winkster, as he grabs two flashlights from a nightstand's drawer in the living room.
He gives Winkette one of the flashlights as he says to her, "Here, this will help it not be so dark."
"Okay…" Winkette said, accepting the flashlight. "Thanks…"
"Just keep your flashlight on and hold my hand," said the Winkster, grabbing Winkette's hand again. "You'll be okay, Winkette…I promise…Now let's go before something goes wrong. Follow my lead."
The Winkster and Winkette left their house together hand in hand through the back door and walked into the backyard as they turned on their flashlights. The two then opened the door to the shed and walked inside. The twins shined their flashlights upwards as they both spot one of the windows. It was broken as its glass was shattered into pieces on the ground.
"Oh my goodness!" Winkette cried. "There's glass all over the floor!"
"So THIS is the window that broke!" the Winkster cried. "Someone might've broke in here after all!"
He turns to his sister and said to her, "Winkette? We have to look around and see if anything has been stolen or damaged. We have to look EVERYWHERE."
"Right!" said Winkette, then felt herself being touched as she screamed, "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! SOMEONE TOUCHED ME!"
"Winkette, it's me!" said the Winkster. "I'm sorry!"
"Oh..." said Winkette, calming down. "It was you, Winkster?"
"Yes, it was only me," said the Winkster, seeing how much that scared his sister. "Oh gosh, I'm really sorry, sis. I didn't mean to scare you like that..."
"It's okay..." Winkette said. "Let's just try to figure out who broke in here."
"Right," the Winkster said.
The two began to look around the shed for any evidence. Then Winkette saw something as she shined her flashlight on it.
"Wha…?" she said to herself, then calling out to her brother, "Winkster! Hey Winkster! Come over here! I think I found something!"
"What is it, Winkette?" the Winkster asked.
"Look…" Winkette said, pointing to what she found.
The Winkster came to Winkette and looked where his sister was looking as they both shined their flashlights on what was on the ground in front of them. It was a giant gray egg.
"It's an egg!" said the Winkster.
"A really big egg to be exact," said Winkette. "For a second, I thought it was a football. It's huge!"
Winkette picks the egg up as she and the Winkster examine it.
"I wonder where this egg came from..." said Winkette, then turning to her brother and saying to him, "You ever seen an egg like this, Winkster?"
"No I haven't, Winkette," said the Winkster. "Have you?"
"Nope," said Winkette. "Wow...I wonder what kind of egg this is…"
"There's some rings around it," the Winkster said, noticing a detail on the big gray egg. "I wonder what they could mean…"
Right when he said that, the bottom ring of the egg started to glow very brightly.
"Look Winkster!" Winkette gasped in amazement as her eyes widened.
"Whoa!" Winkster gasped in amazement as his eyes widened as well. "Did you see that, Winkette?!"
"I did!" said Winkette. "Oh my goodness!"
The ring on the egg stopped glowing as it left behind a pretty and cute shade of pink.
"Gee willikers…" the Winkster said. "The bottom ring turned pink!"
"It's pink!" said Winkette, as she squeals in excitement. "Eeeeeeeeeeee!"
"Yes, I know how much you love pink, Winkette," the Winkster giggled, as he smiled at his sister's happiness.
"I sure do," said Winkette, smiling back. "I love pink so much! It's my favorite color! Hehehehehe!"
"Hey Winkette," the Winkster said, as he just thought of something. "Maybe we should tell Dani and Aaron about this egg. And Barney, too."
"Good idea, Winkster," Winkette said. "But not right now. It's currently the middle of the night. They're probably sleeping at the moment…"
"You have a point there, sis…" said the Winkster. "So we'll tell Barney and the kids sometime tomorrow when we see them."
"Alright," said Winkette.
She then sees a colorful basket near her from last Easter Sunday as she said, "Let's get this egg inside so nothing happens to it."
"Good call," said the Winkster.
Winkette grabs the Easter basket, puts some fake light green grass in it, and gently places the egg inside. Then the twins went back inside their house and into their shared bedroom. Winkette then places the basket containing the egg next to her nightstand. Then she and the Winkster crawled back into their beds as the brother and sister went back to sleep for the night.
