By Friday, Rory had begun to settle in with Paris and Doyle, relearning all the quirks that came along with living with Paris. The heavier course load that came along with trying to make up for her time off was helping in the regard that she didn't actually have much free time to dwell upon everything that happened. Sure she had seen Logan in the distance a few times but she had so far always managed to evade him when he looked like he was going to approach her. She was not looking forward to the usual Friday night dinner, she knew that her Grandmother was expecting her to show up and that they could gush over the dresses and gossip that Rory should have seen and heard at the Huntzberger wedding, instead Rory was about to burst her bubble that there would not be a Gilmore/Huntzberger merger happening anytime soon.

Rory had just dropped an article off at the paper and was heading for a coffee, when she heard her cell beeping in her purse. She stopped to check it quickly before leaving the newsroom, as she hated when people texted and walked around campus, not paying any attention to their surroundings.

Hey, it's me, Tristan. Just wanted to check in and see how your week has gone, and make sure that Huntzberger hasn't been harassing you.

Unable to help herself, Rory smiled to herself while reading the text. She had a feeling he was just being extra polite, but Tristan had definitely changed from Chilton, although he was nice to her in high school when she was dealing with her breakup from Dean.

Thanks for asking Bible Boy, he hasn't managed to get close enough to me to harass me so far, so that is a win. The week has been okay, living with Paris again takes some getting used to. I have dinner with my Grandparents tonight. I have to break it to my Grandmother that I have split up with her favorite person.

Bible Boy? Are we back to that? Can I go back to Mary then? Make sure that you don't let Emily blame it all on you. Don't be selfless over this.

Rory laughed at his mention of Mary, then looked around in case people thought she was crazy laughing to herself. She wondered how he seemed to know that she hadn't planned on throwing Logan under the bus, maybe she needed to rethink that plan. She would have to just see how they reacted to the news that evening.

Do you really have to? I was going to play it by ear and try to avoid blaming anyone if I could. I have to go and get some coffee so I can stay awake for my afternoon class. Get to class or the library!

Rory made it halfway through cocktails before the dreaded subject came up, thankfully her grandfather had just refilled her martini.

"So Rory I have been just dying to ask, how did the Huntzberger wedding go? I'm sure that Honor looked lovely but I did wonder if Shira would be able to stay classy or veer too far into tacky. So how did it go?" Emily asked, practically on the end of her loveseat in excitement.

"Well Grandma," Rory took a deep breath trying to think of how to word it. "Honor was of course gorgeous. The bridesmaids were in a pale lavender. I didn't actually see Shira so I'm not sure if she managed to pull off the dignified mother of the bride look."

"What do you mean that you didn't see Shira, you can hardly avoid the mother of the bride the whole day, especially when she happens to be your boyfriend's mother?" Emily said, outrage beginning to build, she was already trying to think what she would need to do to avoid any social fallout from the slight.

"Mom, I'm sure Rory was just about to explain," Lorelai said, trying to provide some support for her daughter, while trying to cut her mom off before she got started.

"Of course Rory, I'm sure there is a simple explanation that she was just about to tell you Emily," Richard said, knowing his wife needed calming down.

"I actually found something out while I was waiting on everyone getting ready for the wedding and it made me feel like I shouldn't attend the wedding, so I didn't. Then I spoke to Logan after the ceremony and we, umm," Rory looked at her grandmother, and saw she had paled, so building her courage she managed to rush out the rest of her sentence. "We broke up."

"I'm sorry Rory, did you just say you broke up?" Richard asked, mainly for his wife who looked too shocked to ask herself.

"Yes."

"Why?" Emily asked, at the same time as Richard asked.

"Where are you living?"

"I moved back in with Paris, thankfully her and Doyle had a spare room that they are willing to lease to me for the rest of the year."

"What happened? You and Logan were perfect together." Emily moaned.

"I wasn't really planning on getting into the reasons Grandma, I don't want my relationship with the Huntzberger's disintegrating to affect Grandpa and your relationship with them. Really, it's between Logan and myself," Rory finished looking earnestly at her Grandfather knowing that he would be the voice of reason here.

"Maybe Rory is right and we should just let it stay between the kids, try and reduce the awkwardness at social events," Richard stated.

"But what if Logan doesn't have the same opinion as Rory and tells his parents everything, then there is the possibility of them bringing it up at an event and us not knowing what they are talking about and looking foolish."

"Believe me Grandma, Logan will not be discussing it with his parents," Rory stated emphatically.

"But-"

"Boy dinner sure is running late tonight," Lorelai said, looking at her watch and then the entrance where the maid usually announced supper from. Luckily for Rory the attempt at distraction worked, Emily got up and marched off to the kitchen to see what the hold up was and where her wayward maid had gone.

Rory mouthed a hasty thank you at her mother while enjoying her small reprieve.

And a small reprieve it was, as soon as they were finishing their desserts Emily started up again.

"Are you sure that you don't want to tell us what happened with Logan? We might be able to help. Mitchum isn't causing problems again is he?"

"Emily," Richard tried to interject.

"No Richard, maybe she just needs to know we would be supportive."

"Grandma, I have told you, I don't want my issues to become your issues. If it becomes a problem in some way, I may change my mind and discuss it with you, but for now I think it really would be for the best if I kept my reasoning to myself," Rory repeated, hoping they would listen.

"Okay, okay, I shall try to understand. Did you really have to leave halfway through the wedding, that will cause a scandal."

"I left before the wedding, not in the middle of it. None of the guests even saw me, Grandma. And I thought it would be ruder to attend the wedding and be in the photographs and then break up with her brother the next day."

"I hadn't thought of that hun, that's pretty thoughtful when you put it like that," Lorelai said, still trying to take the pressure off Rory.

"Well be that as it may, there still will probably be questions from people," Emily said haughtily.

"Then that is their problem, Rory doesn't have to answer to anyone. Now I'm going to take Rory home, so she can have a proper night to try and start the mourning process. She was so busy moving last weekend that she never got to have a movie and ice-cream night."

"That sounds ideal actually," Rory said with a smile.

"Fine, I shall try to respect your wishes Rory."

"Thank you Grandma."

"Okay, I ordered pizza from the car on my drive home, so you probably have fifteen to get into your pj's," Lorelai said, as Rory walked into the house, having both driven separately to the Gilmore Mansion meant that they arrived back in Stars Hollow separately.

"I'm going, I'm going, keep your pants on," Rory replied, trying to stop her mother from rushing her anymore.

"What movie do you want kid?"

"What did you get?" Rory shouted from her bedroom.

"I got 10 things I hate about you, and Legally blonde, plus we have all our usuals."

"I'm thinking more legally blonde tonight," Rory said, coming out and settling on the couch pulling a blanket over her lap. "Will we wait for the pizza to arrive before we hit play?"

"That sounds like a plan."

"Hang on, you did get ice cream?"

"Of course! Who do you think you are dealing with here?" Lorelai asked, offended that her daughter even thought to ask the question.

"Who knows, Luke might have made you all healthy by now," Rory replied with an innocent shrug.

"Blasphemy!" Lorelai shouted as there was a knock on the door, she jumped up to answer it and returned with two pizza's in hand.

"You do remember that we just had dinner at Grandma's? She didn't even make us eat anything weird tonight."

"I know, but it isn't like we won't eat it between now and breakfast. Press play."

"So how is it really going?" Lorelai asked, as they watched Reese Witherspoon get ready for her big 'proposal date' on screen.

"It's going. It is definitely an adjustment getting used to living with Paris again, nevermind the addition of Doyle. They like to practice their Krav Maga in the living room. Mainly, this week has been busy and I haven't actually had much time to wallow."

"It has only been a week, I suppose."

Rory was just reaching for another piece of pizza when her cell beeped, she quickly checked it in case it was something important only to see it was from Tristan.

How were the senior Gilmore's? It was just silly enough of a wording to make Rory smirk.

Can I tell Emily you called her a senior? It was okay, I just didn't give them any details, told them I was letting them stay neutral.

"Who was that?" Lorelai asked, watching Rory text.

"It was just Tristan, he is checking that dinner at Grandma's went okay and that I didn't take all the blame for the breakup."

Neutral? You are their grandkid, you are the favorite. They don't need to be neutral Mary

I thought we were staying away from Mary? I don't want things to be awkward for them at events, so I thought it was easiest.

"Tristan?" Lorelai asked, trying to place the name.

"From Chilton, he was meant to be Romeo junior year? Dean hated him? Military school? Anything ringing a bell here or should I just keep listing things?"

"No, I remember him, I just couldn't think why he would be the one you were talking about, was all."

"I bumped into him in New York last weekend when I was upset and drunk, and he took care of me and made sure I got home safe, then the next day he volunteered to be my muscle so I could get my stuff moved out of the apartment quickly."

"How did you bump into him in New York?" Lorelai asked, curious now that she remembered the tall cheeky blonde who had been instrumental in so many of Rory and Dean's arguments when they were sixteen.

"He lives there, he is at Columbia. I got drunk in a student bar, okay. I was drowning my sorrows and he happened to walk in and we had a conversation that I honestly don't remember before passing out. He knew I was alone so he took me back to his apartment that he shares and let me sleep it off, while he slept in a different room. He was a gentleman. He may have just been being nice, but he was like a totally different person, a lot more mature." Rory said thoughtfully.

"Interesting," Lorelai said, watching Rory as her cell beeped again.

Okay, but if it gets awkward you need to tell them and not be a martyr. Are you out tonight celebrating your freedom?

No, I'm having pizza and movies. A wallowing night is needed, I think. Hope you are out after me ruining your weekend last weekend. Rory replied before setting her cell down again.

"Maybe I need to take a page out of Elle Woods' book," Rory said after watching the movie for a bit longer.

"What do you mean?"

"Well look how hard she worked to prove her ex that he was wrong, and how she ended up thriving. A prime example that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Breaking the glass ceiling and all that."

"And you think you need to prove Logan wrong?"

"No, I think I need to prove the whole Huntzberger family that they were wrong," Rory said as she took another slice of pizza. She was so busy making mental plans, that she missed the final beep of her cell for the night.

A weekend spent with you, is definitely not a ruined weekend.
