Where the Winkster and Winkette were, the two managed to locate where the circus is as they entered the property that was being used for it.
"Now where are those clowns...?" Winkette wondered, as she looked around.
"Winkette?" said the Winkster.
"What?" said Winkette.
"What are you trying to do?" the Winkster asked. "Like, what is your plan?"
"Payback," Winkette said.
"Aaaaaaaand, how are we going to do THAT?" the Winkster wondered.
"I dunno…" said Winkette.
"See, I knew you weren't going to go through with it..." the Winkster said, as he chuckles. "I seriously thought you were actually going to show the clowns "who's boss". Oh man, that just cracks me up!"
The Winkster starts laughing.
"Winkster…" Winkette said. "I can't face those clowns and get the egg back myself..."
"Well, why not?" the Winkster said.
"They might kill me and make fun of me!" said Winkette.
"Now what makes you think a bunch of clowns would make fun of you for?" asked the Winkster.
"Look at us, Winkster!" Winkette said.
"We're colorful?" said the Winkster.
"Exactly!" said Winkette.
"And how would they laugh at us for that?" the Winkster said. "Wouldn't the opposite happen?"
"Oh…" said Winkette, thinking for a minute. "You mean that they'd think we're clowns, too?"
"Well yeah, they might," said the Winkster. "Clowns usually dress very colorfully to appeal to children and adults who still have their inner child. Clowns are around to make people happy and make us laugh. Well, not the dark ones you'd see in a horror movie..."
"Right," said Winkette.
"And because you and I are colorful and we're really good with children..." said the Winkster.
"And we're very good at entertaining people," said Winkette. "I mean, we just entertained the entire Chez Snobbe restaurant just now!"
"That's right, sis," the Winkster said.
"But still..." Winkette said. "I want to show those clowns about how playing tricks are! Or my name isn't Winkette!"
"But not without a plan," said the Winkster.
"Then we need to think," said Winkette. "Right now!"
"Let's discuss this together," the Winkster said.
"Okay," Winkette said.
The two started thinking.
"Hmmm…" said the Winkster.
"Hmmm…" said Winkette. "Maybe this..."
She whispers something in her brother's ear.
"Nuh uh!" the Winkster said, disagreeing with his sister. "No way, I'm not doing that!
He feels his sister pulling him again as he shouts, "Hey! Winkette, wait a minute! Stop! I'm not ready!"
The twins go to the clowns, who were either practicing their routines or having a snack break.
"Uhhh...Can I have your attention, please?!" Winkette said to the clowns.
The clowns look at Winkette and gave their attention to her.
"Here's the newest member of this traveling circus!" Winkette said, as she pulls her brother in front of her. "This guy!"
She goes to the side as she said to the Winkster, "Remember what I told you, brother!"
"Ugh…" the Winkster groaned.
The Winkster puts on a rainbow afro wig and a red clown nose Winkette found in the costume and prop box as he places his hat on top of the wig and starts dancing like a circus freak.
"Ra-da-dadada-dada circus!" the Winkster sang, while making weird movements. "Da-da-dadada-dada Afro! Circus, Afro! Circus, Afro! Polka dot, polka dot, polka dot, AFRO!"
He strikes a finishing pose as he smiles with his teeth showing while he was sweating in embarrassment.
The clowns just look at the Winkster as the property went quiet.
"I told you this was a bad idea, Winkette…!" the Winkster said, while still holding a fake smile.
"Oh stop it!" Winkette said, with her thumb up. "You did great!"
One of the clowns walks up to the Winkster and looks at him.
"Oh!" said the Winkster. "Heh...How do you do?"
"You were great!" said the clown.
"Wait...What...?" said the Winkster, a bit surprised. "Really…?"
"Yeah!" said the clown.
"Oh..." the Winkster said, with a little smile. "Well, thank you!"
"Hey Winkster!" Winkette said to her brother, as she sees a big kickball. "Roll that kickball towards me!"
"What?" said the Winkster. "Why?"
"Just do it!" said Winkette.
The Winkster rolls the big kickball towards Winkette as the woman hops onto the giant kickball and starts balancing on it with one foot.
"Anything you guys got," Winkette said to all the clowns, "throw them to me and I'll catch them!"
The clowns throw Winkette a broom, an umbrella, three books, and a stack of plates. Winkette caught the broom with her left hand, the umbrella with her right hand, the books on her free foot, and the plate stack on her head. She then started to recite some tongue twisters while standing on the ball and holding the objects. The clowns were very much amazed at this.
"Betty Botter bought some butter," Winkette recited. "But she said the butter's bitter. If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter. But a bit of better butter will make my batter better. So 'twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter. She sells seashells by the seashore. Can you can a can as a canner can can a can? I saw a kitten eating chicken in the kit-"
Winkette starts to wobble as she was starting to lose her balance.
"Whoa..." she said. "WHOA!"
"Winkette, be careful!" the Winkster said.
Everyone ducked as Winkette slipped off the ball. Miraculously, Winkette managed to flip herself as she landed back on the ball with one foot. Also, she caught back all of the items she was balancing before, with the umbrella and broom in one hand, and the books and plate stacks in the other. She was unharmed and was successful at this trick.
"Taaaaa daaaa!" Winkette cried, as she blushes. "Heh heh..."
"Soooooo…" the Winkster said to the clowns, "what do you guys think?"
The clowns responded by clapping and cheering for the twins.
"Wow, we're really killing it today, huh sis?!" the Winkster said to Winkette.
"We sure are!" Winkette said, then spots the egg on a seesaw as she cried while pointing to it, "Winkster, there's the egg!"
"Oh no!" said the Winkster, seeing that the egg was in danger. "We better go get it and quick!"
The twins start running towards the egg. But before they could grab it, one of the acrobats jumped onto the other side of the seesaw as another acrobat was standing there with the egg. The egg was sprung high into the air as it was airborne as zoomed away from the two yet again. This made the Winkster and Winkette frantic as the egg could fall down at any moment and probably break this time.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" the twins screamed in horror.
The Winkster and Winkette kept running towards the egg.
"We gotta save it!" the Winkster cried.
"Someone catch it!" Winkette cried.
The egg fell back down as the circus juggler caught it as he started to juggle it with a juggling club and a bean ball.
"Uhhh, excuse me, sir?" the Winkster said to the juggler.
"Wow!" the juggler said, as he was juggling the items. "You caught me by surprise, my colorful friend. You know, I like surprises. Surprises are for birthdays. And birthdays go with cakes."
"Uhhh yeah…" said the Winkster, a bit confused. "But…Hey listen, you have something important that my sister and I are looking for!"
"Oh, and what's that?" the juggler asked.
"You're juggling our egg," the Winkster said.
"It's the one with colorful rings on it," Winkette said.
"That's good. I like eggs," said the juggler, as he grabs a small frying pan and adds it to the juggling. "Eggs are for breakfast, and that means frying pans."
"What?!" said the Winkster.
"You like your eggs poached?" asked the juggler. "Boiled? How about fried? Perhaps over easy, sunny side up?"
"Look, this isn't a regular egg!" the Winkster said. "It contains a dream maker!"
"Please sir!" Winkette said. "I'm really worried about it!"
"Well ma'am, let me ask you this," the juggler said to Winkette. "If there's a sudden gust of gravity, will the dream maker bounce?"
"What kind of question is that?" said Winkette. "The answer is no!"
"Then we're both worried about it," said the juggler.
"Just please give us the egg!" the Winkster demanded.
"You know," the juggler said, continuing to juggle, "there is a way to stop the dream maker from bouncing. It's called the Peking duck trick."
"How does it go?" asked Winkette.
"I will tell you," said the juggler. "The Peking duck trick goes like this. First, you both should close your eyes."
The twins both unwillingly closed their eyes.
"Are you peeking?" the juggler asked.
"No," the Winkster and Winkette said, shaking their heads.
"Then duck!" cried the juggler.
The Winkster and Winkette quickly ducked as the juggler threw the egg into the air and took off without another word. The egg was nowhere in sight. Not even a clue on where it could be.
"What…?" said the Winkster, looking back up. "Where did it go…? Where's the egg…?"
"Where's the juggler…?" said Winkette, looking back up as well. "Where did he go…?"
The twins looked at each other as they both got angry.
"We were tricked again!" the Winkster said, in disbelief.
"I cannot believe this!" Winkette said, also in disbelief.
"I knew I couldn't trust that juggler!" the Winkster said, a bit mad. "I had a bad feeling about that man from the start of our short encounter with him..."
"And I thought nobody!" Winkette said. "And I mean NOBODY could outtrick the Winkster and Winkette!"
"Now what do we do?!" the Winkster asked.
The two then heard a sound of thunder coming from the sky as it turned gray.
"Uhhh ohhh…" said the Winkster, starting to worry.
"Ooooh nooooo..." said Winkette, also starting to worry.
And very quickly, it started to rain. And to make things worse, it was a total downpour!
"Awww no!" the Winkster said, all upset.
"This is just great!" Winkette said, all upset as well.
"Was it supposed to rain today?!" the Winkster wondered. "I don't remember hearing that on the Weather Channel!"
The Winkster then sees a lightning bolt light up in the sky, followed by the sound it made. Knowing that lightning can sometimes seriously hurt or kill a human, he was very alert. Especially because he wanted to protect his twin sister since he is considered her protector since childhood.
"I'll keep you safe, Winkette!" the Winkster said to his sister. "Don't worry!"
"Oh please, Winkster!" Winkette said, as she hugs her brother. "I'm frightened!"
The Winkster picked up Winkette and carried her as he started running while trying to find a place to hide from the rain, when he saw a big circus tent a few feet away from him and his sister.
"There's the big top, sis!" the Winkster exclaimed.
"Then let's go inside it!" said Winkette. "We'll be safe in there!"
"Good call!" said the Winkster.
The Winkster ran while holding onto his sister as the brother and sister entered the tent safely.
"Whew!" said Winkette.
"You alright, sis?" the Winkster said to his sister, setting her down.
"Yeah...I'm fine..." said Winkette. "Thanks..."
"You're welcome," said the Winkster, grabbing a towel as he gives it to his twin sister. "Here, you're soaking wet."
"You are, too," said Winkette, giving her brother a towel in return.
As the twins dried themselves off, their minds went back to the yet again missing egg.
"We still have to find that egg!" said Winkette.
"But where would it be now?!" asked the Winkster. "Ever since we talked with that juggler, it's been missing since! It disappeared without a trace! It's just...gone! G-O-N-E!"
"This is not good..." Winkette said. "Not good at all!"
Winkette then unknowingly started to go through the five stages of grief. First: Denial.
"The egg can't be missing. Right...?" she said. "It was just simply...misplaced...Yeah, that's it. The egg is in a spot where we don't know it. Now hopefully, someone will find it for us and return it."
Two minutes later, Winkette then entered the second stage of grief: Anger. Winkette was very mad as she started to shout multiple swear words in all of her sentences. Given that neither Barney nor Dani and Aaron were with the twins at the moment, the Winkster let his twin sister say what she had to say as he just watched her do her rant. Plus, he wanted his sister to let it all out without interruptions. But because Winkette was cursing so much all at once, to the Winkster it sounded like gibberish with some broken English added to it.
"Let it all out, Winkette…" the Winkster said to his sister.
Winkette continues to curse and rant in anger, while the Winkster checks his wristwatch as seconds goes by. Another two minutes later, Winkette entered the third stage of grief: Bargaining.
"Are you there, the voice from up there?" Winkette said, as she looks up at the ceiling. "It's me, Winkette. Listen, if you would just give us back the egg so my brother and I can go home and call it a day, I promise I won't use my brother's hat to unclog the toilet again. Deal?"
"Wait, you WHAT?!" the Winkster said, all shocked.
And yet another two minutes later, Winkette entered the fourth stage of grief: Depression. This made the Winkster very concerned as his sister was very close to going into tears.
"Winkette…?" the Winkster said her.
"What…?" Winkette said, as she was getting teary.
"Are you okay…?" the Winkster asked.
Before Winkette could answer, she broke down on the floor as she started to cry her eyes out in great sorrow as many tears went down her face. The Winkster hugs his sister close as she was crying so much.
"Don't cry, Winkette..." he said to his twin.
"Well, why can't I?!" Winkette asked, while sobbing. "We lost the egg again and this time we're never going to find it!"
"Sure we will," said the Winkster. "How about once the rain stops, we can both look around some more? And then maybe we can find it."
"We already looked around, Winkster!" Winkette said, all upset while in tears. "It's probably cracked open with its egg whites and yolk spilled all over the place! Winkster, we failed! Failed, I tell you! Failed, failed, FAILED! It's over! It's ALL OVER!"
She cries more as she said, "And it's all my fault! If I haven't thrown the egg when I caught it, none of this would've happened in the first place!"
Winkette continues to cry in deep sadness.
"Now now…" said the Winkster. "It's not the end of the world…"
"Yes it is!" said Winkette.
"Awww Winkette..." the Winkster frowned.
He then started to sing to her.
"When it looks like all is lost and you're feeling really sad," the Winkster sang, "it doesn't do a bit of good to keep on feeling bad. Just make up your mind that you're gonna see it through. And soon I know you'll find that you can make your dreams come true."
"Hmm…?" Winkette said, looking at her brother.
The Winkster gets onto a small stage and starts dancing while continuing to sing.
"We're gonna find a way," the Winkster sang. "We're a Super-Dee-Duper team. And when we stick together, there's no storm we can't weather. No matter how dark it may seem. We're gonna find a way. We're gonna save the day. We'll solve the situation with our imagination. We're gonna find a way."
The Winkster then brought his sister onto the stage with him.
"Wait, Winkster no…" Winkette said, trying to walk away. "No, I can't-"
"When things are going wrong, we can make our own good luck," the Winkster sang, while slow dancing with his sister. "The only time we ever fail is when we just give up. Don't be a quitter now. There's some tricks left up our sleeve. We'll get through this somehow if we can only just believe."
"Well…" said Winkette, thinking for a moment.
Winkette then smiles as she and the Winkster start dancing and singing together.
"That's it!" the Winkster said happily. "You got it, sis!"
After they finished the song, the two strike a finishing pose together.
"You feeling better, Winkette?" the Winkster asked his sister.
Winkette then reaches the final stage of grief: Acceptance.
"I don't know where that egg is," she said. "But I'm not going to be a quitter. No siree."
Winkette holds her brother's hands as she said to him, "We'll find the egg, Winkster. And we won't stop looking until we do."
She smiles at him.
The Winkster smiles in return as the two hug. When just then, Barney, Dani, and Aaron find them.
"Winkster! Winkette!" Dani cried.
"Dani!" Winkette cried.
"Aaron!" the Winkster cried.
"Barney!" they both cried.
"We've been looking everywhere for you two!" said Aaron.
"Where have you twins been?!" Barney asked.
"Uhhhh…" the Winkster and Winkette said, with a small sweat.
"It's a long story…" said the Winkster.
"Yeah…" said Winkette.
"That's okay," said Barney. "You two can tell us."
"Okay…" said the Winkster. "Well…Guys? Remember when one of the servers at the Chez Snobbe restaurant said our egg was sent as takeout to the clowns at the circus?"
"Yes," said Dani.
"Well, he said ever since the traveling circus came into town for their temporary stay," the Winkster said, "the clowns have been playing tricks on the restaurant staff. And that didn't make my sister very happy…"
"Why's that?" asked Dani.
"Why don't you tell our friends, Winkette?" the Winkster said to his sister.
"Okay Winkster," said Winkette, then saying to Barney and the kids, "It made me upset that the clowns were tricking people. But it's really because the Winkster and I are the ones that should be doing all the best tricks and jokes more than anyone else. And like I said to my brother during that…Nobody outtricks the Winkster and Winkette!"
"That's awful!" said Aaron.
"Well, it wasn't that bad really," said the Winkster. "Winkette and I thought we were going to do the kind of tricks that involve pranking, but we ended up doing physical tricks instead. Just remember that besides disappearing and reappearing in different spots as quick as a wink, my sister and I can also do tricks that involve physical activity."
"Right," said Dani.
"That and our colorful looks really impressed the clowns," said Winkette.
She then pauses for a moment and said, "Though I do wonder if they actually mistaken Winkster and I for actual clowns. Or maybe wannabe clowns or perhaps clowns in training…"
"Is that why you two are under the big top right now?" Barney wondered.
"No, that was just a coincidence," the Winkster said, as he chuckles. "Winkette and I ran inside here when it was raining."
"Oh I see," said Barney.
"Yeah…" said the Winkster. "By the way, is it still raining?"
"Yep…" said Aaron, looking outside to see it was still raining.
"Okay," said the Winkster. "Then my sister and I can still talk about what happened with the two of us during the time we weren't with you guys. Anyway..."
He said to Winkette, "Can I tell them, sis?"
"Sure Winkster," said Winkette. "Our friends might as well know."
"Okay," said the Winkster, then saying to Barney and the kids, "You see, guys…While we were under this tent, my sister was starting to lose hope about everything. And she..."
He recounts something and was surprised as he said, "She…She went through the five stages of grief, now that I think about it...?"
"What?" said Dani.
"Have you ever heard of the five stages of grief?" the Winkster asked.
"No," said Dani. "I never heard of it before."
"Me neither," said Aaron. "What is it about, Winkster?"
"Well kids," the Winkster said. "It's a way of dealing with loss of a person, pet, or an object that you really loved. You go through five emotion-related stages in this order."
He puts a finger up for each stage as he says, "Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. And now that I'm putting all this together, Winkette went through exactly that."
"What did she lose that was making her upset?" asked Dani.
"The egg that we're all looking for..." said the Winkster. "No, we haven't found it, sadly...But I told her once the rain stops, we'll look for the egg again. And since we're all back together, you can join us."
"Good idea," said Aaron. "So how did each stage go with Winkette?"
"About as you can imagine," the Winkster said.
"So..." said Dani. "She at first denied that the egg is actually missing?"
"Yes," said the Winkster.
"Then she got angry about it shortly after this denial?" said Dani.
"Correct," said the Winkster. "She went into a full blown outburst as she was screaming many words that you kids shouldn't be hearing..."
"I see…" Dani said.
"Did you stop her?" Aaron asked.
"Nope," the Winkster said, shaking his head. "I rather she let it all out than hold it all in."
"That's very good of you, Winkster," said Dani. "So next is...What is it again? It starts with a B, I know that."
"Bargaining," said the Winkster.
"What did she do then?" asked Dani.
"She tried to make a deal if it involves us getting the egg back," said the Winkster, turning to Winkette. "But I think she slipped out a confession about UNCLOGING THE TOILET WITH MY HAT?!"
Winkette sweats nervously.
"Winkette…?" the Winkster said to his sister. "Is this true…?"
"Yes…" Winkette said, as she sighed.
"Why didn't you tell me?" the Winkster wondered.
"Cause you would've got mad at me..." said Winkette.
"Yeah, I would've for sure…" said the Winkster. "Oh Winkette…"
"Can we talk about this later...?" Winkette asked. "Please…?"
"Alright fine..." the Winkster said, with a sigh.
He then said to Dani and Aaron, "Anyway, that went off topic real quick...So yeah, when bargaining passed, Winkette went into a depression, which I think was the worst out of all the stages since my sister was feeling very low about this whole thing as she was in many tears and wouldn't stop crying."
"So what did you do to help?" Aaron asked.
"Well," said the Winkster. "I hugged her and sang to her and we danced together."
"Yeah?" said Dani.
"Yes," said the Winkster. "All I wanted was to make Winkette happy again."
He hugged Winkette as he said, "I would do anything for my twin sister..."
"But why were you two fighting earlier today when the egg first got lost?" Dani wondered.
"Yeah," said Aaron. "You two were yelling and screaming at each other."
"Well, we were both upset and didn't know how to react at that moment," said the Winkster. "You know fights do happen sometimes. Siblings are usually not without that...And my sister and I just learned to accept that. And speaking of acceptance…That is the last stage of grief."
He said to Winkette, "And what did you learn, Winkette?"
"I finally accepted that the egg is still missing. Again..." said Winkette. "But I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep searching for it. The egg will be found safe and sound."
"Whoo hoo hoo hoo!" cried the Winkster, happily. "That's the spirit, sis!"
He kisses her cheeks as she giggled.
"Hey guys!" Aaron said, looking outside and noticing a difference in the weather. "I think the rain is stopping!"
He looks again and says, "It's just raining a tiny bit now, but it wasn't as bad as it was before. It was a downpour many minutes ago!"
"Really?!" said the Winkster and Winkette.
"Finally?!" said Dani.
"Oh wow!" said Barney. "It's a sun shower!"
"Well, at least the sun is up again finally," said the Winkster.
"That means we can look for the egg again!" said Dani, then seeing a bucket of umbrellas as she said to the group, "Come on, everyone! Grab an umbrella and let's do this thing!"
"Right away, Dani!" said Aaron.
Barney, Dani, and Aaron each grabbed an umbrella and opened them up as they all walked outside. But when the Winkster and Winkette went to get an umbrella for themselves, there was only one left.
"Aww…" said Winkette, with a sad sigh. "I guess I'm going to get wet again..."
"No you won't, sis," said the Winkster. "And neither will I."
"What do you mean?" Winkette wondered. "How?"
The Winkster grabs the umbrella and opens it up as he holds it over himself and his sister.
"Oh, we'll share it?" said Winkette.
"Mmm hmm," said the Winkster, putting his free arm around Winkette's shoulders. "And it's big enough for the both of us."
"Aww Winkster…" Winkette said, as she blushes. "You're so sweet..."
"Of course," said the Winkster, with a smile. "Now let's go find that egg, shall we?!"
"Oh yes!" said Winkette, smiling back. "The adventure continues!"
