Back at Dani's house, Rhonda was getting worried that Dani and Aaron weren't back home yet. Especially because it was now dark outside.
"Where is Dani?" Rhonda wondered, as she was worrying for her child and the girl's friend. "I hope she and Aaron are okay and not hurt out there wherever they are."
Just then, Dani's father and Rhonda's husband, Mike, came home after a long shift at his job.
"Hi Honey," Mike said to his wife. "Sorry I'm late. I had a long day at work."
"Oh Mike, thank goodness you're here!" said Rhonda. "Have you seen our daughter? She and her friend, Aaron haven't returned home yet."
"Where have they gone?" Mike asked. "Especially at this hour as it's getting dark and will be Dani's bedtime soon."
"I hope something didn't happen to them..." Rhonda said.
"I hope not, too…" said Mike. "I don't know what we'd do if-"
The husband and wife then noticed two headlights in the sky.
"What is that?" Rhonda wondered.
It was the imaginary airplane that Dani, Aaron, and Barney were in. But Dani's parents couldn't see them as the group was kind of far away. Hoping to see it better, Rhonda turned on the back porch light since she and Mike were currently in the backyard. Barney and the kids managed to get away from the fireworks safely despite the scary situation. But now, the plane started to go down as Aaron couldn't make it go back up.
"It won't go up!" Dani cried.
"We're going down!" Barney cried.
"Mayday, mayday!" Aaron cried.
"We're going to hit the leaf pile!" cried Barney, just spotting a big pile of leaves in the backyard.
"Hold on everyone!" cried Aaron. "We're gonna make an emergency landing! Brace yourselves for impact!"
Barney and Dani did so as Aaron quickly pressed the breaks as the airplane landed into the leaf pile. He did this safely as neither he nor his two friends were hurt. But they were covered in the leaves, and Barney was completely unseen as he was in the entire pile. And once this was over, the imagining wore off at the plane was now a wooden log again. Mike and Rhonda didn't see it when it was an airplane nor did they see Barney as his real dinosaur self, but realizing it was their daughter and her friend now in the backyard that they ran over to the kids as they haven't seen the kids in several hours.
"MY GOD!" Rhonda cried. "WHAT HAPPENED?!"
"You kids okay?!" Mike asked Dani and Aaron.
"We're fine!" said Aaron.
"What kind of game were you kids playing out here?!" Mike wondered.
"We weren't really playing a game, Dad," Dani said. "And we weren't here in the backyard for most of the day."
"What do you mean?" asked Mike.
"I thought you two went to see Miss Goldfinch about an egg you were trying to explain to me about this morning," Rhonda said.
"We did, Mom," said Dani. "And we found out that the egg is..."
"What?" said Rhonda.
"A dream maker," said Dani.
"A dream maker?" Mike and Rhonda said.
"What's a dream maker?" Rhonda asked.
"Well," said Dani, "it's a-"
"Hold on a minute," Mike interrupted. "Danielle? Before you tell us everything, how did this all start? And tell your mother and I the truth, young lady. Everything from beginning to end. We were very worried about you while you were gone for this long. Understand?"
Since Dani had to tell the truth to her parents, she decided to finally tell them about Barney when he isn't just being a doll of hers.
"Yes Dad," Dani said. "Well, it all started…"
"With a purple dinosaur," said Aaron.
"Barney?" Rhonda said.
"You mean your little stuffed toy you like to play with all the time?" Mike said.
"Yes," said Dani. "And Aaron and I would like you to meet him up close and in person."
The little girl pulls Barney out of the leaf pile with Aaron's help as she said to her mother and father, "Mom? Dad? Meet our friend, Barney the Dinosaur."
"Hello Dani's parents," Barney said to Mike and Rhonda. "How are you doing on this fine night, sir? Ma'am?"
Mike and Rhonda were surprised and shocked that Dani's doll was very big and alive and the fact that he can talk like a regular human.
"Holy cow!" cried Rhonda. "He's alive!"
"And he talks!" cried Mike.
"Yep!" said Dani.
"How do you do?" Barney said to Dani's parents.
"Hello there, Barney," said Rhonda. "I'm Rhonda, Dani's mother."
"And I'm Mike, Dani's father," said Mike. "It's nice to meet you."
He then said to Dani and Aaron, "So what does Barney here have to do with what's going on?"
"So Miss Goldfinch gave us the answers to what the egg is," said Dani. "But it kept getting lost. So we went around town looking for it."
"And we used our imaginations at certain times to assist us along the way," said Aaron. "And Barney helped make that happen."
"Oh," said Rhonda. "So that makes sense on why you and Aaron are always playing pretend whenever you have Barney around.
"That's right, Mom," said Dani.
"Was it only Barney that helped you kids out or did you have other friends with you as well?" asked Mike.
Dani and Aaron got nervous as they still didn't want to tell the girl's parents about the Winkster and Winkette.
"Ummm..." Dani said, nervously.
"Well…?" Rhonda said, as she and her husband waited for an answer.
"Uhhh..." said Aaron. "You see...Umm...Oh boy..."
"LOOK OUT BELOW!" someone shouted from the sky above.
Everyone quickly looks up as they see the Winkster and Winkette floating down while wearing the opened parachute.
"Who are they?" Rhonda asked.
"Oh," said Dani. "Well that's-"
"Awwww fish sticks!" the Winkster exclaimed, noticing that he and his sister were heading for a tree in the backyard.
"Awwww not like this!" Winkette exclaimed.
The twins crashed into the tree's branches. Neither twin was hurt in any way, but now they were both stuck in the tree since the parachute got tangled in the branches.
"Uhhh..." the Winkster said. "Heh heh heh...Help!
"Get us down!" Winkette cried. "We're stuck!"
"Come on, Aaron!" Dani said to Aaron. "We've gotta get them down!"
"Right away!" Aaron said.
Dani and Aaron quickly ran to the tree the Winkster and Winkette were stuck in.
"Are you two okay?" Dani asked the twins.
"Yes we're okay," the Winkster said.
"Are you two hurt?" Aaron asked.
"No we're fine," said the Winkster. "Can you get us down, please?"
"We can't move," said Winkette.
"Don't worry," said Dani. "We'll get you down in no time."
Dani and Aaron climbed up the tree to help get the twins down. The kids managed to free Winkette and bring her down quickly without a problem. But since the Winkster was the one that was wearing the bag containing the parachute, it was much more difficult to free him. And Dani and Aaron couldn't do it alone since he was very tangled in the branches.
"Barney?" Dani said to Barney. "A little help, please?"
"Sure," said Barney, walking over to Dani and Aaron.
"Can you help Aaron and I get the Winkster down?" Dani asked. "He's really stuck in this tree."
"And we can't detangle the parachute," said Aaron. "It's too difficult."
"I'll help you two get him down," said Barney.
"Thanks Barney," said Dani.
It took a few minutes as Barney, Dani, and Aaron worked together to detangle the parachute as it was extremely difficult, but they managed to free the Winkster from the branches. But the minute he was set free, the Winkster very quickly fell down.
"Aaaaahhh!" he screamed.
"I'll catch you, Winkster!" Winkette cried, using her special ability as she puts her arms out.
Winkette caught her twin brother in her arms right before he hit the ground.
"Thanks sis!" said the Winkster.
"No problem, brother," said Winkette, setting him down. "Now let's get out the way before-"
Both Rhonda and Mike got a good look at the twins. The Winkster and Winkette noticed that they were being seen by not only Dani's mother, but also the girl's father. After two days of hiding from them, the twins were finally caught.
"Uhhh ohhh…" the Winkster and Winkette said, nervously.
"Looks like the cat's out of the bag, Winkster…" Winkette said.
"Yeah…" the Winkster said.
"Excuse me?" Rhonda said to the twins.
"Yes…?" said the Winkster and Winkette, all alert as they both stood in place.
"Am I seeing double?" said Rhonda. "Like…Are you two twins?"
"Yes," the Winkster and Winkette said.
"Fraternal twins," said the Winkster.
"Not identical," said Winkette.
"Cause there is a boy and a girl," said Rhonda. "Right, I see."
Mike was a little bit suspicious of the twins as just like his wife, he never saw them before. And since Dani refused to tell her parents about her two new friends, he wanted to know the twins' names and what their deal is. Especially because the Winkster and Winkette were fully grown adults while Dani was a little kid.
"Who are you two?" Mike asked the twins. "What are your names?"
"The Winkster," said the Winkster.
"Winkette," said Winkette.
"And why do you both act like little kids when you're full grown adults?" Mike wondered.
The Winkster and Winkette looked at each other.
"Well?" said Dani's Father, waiting for an answer.
Since Winkette was the most childish out of her and her brother, the twins decided that she should be the one to explain everything. So Winkette slowly walked over to Mike as she stood in front of him.
"And how are you going to explain all this, ma'am?" Mike asked Winkette.
"Well sir," said Winkette, "my brother and I don't act like this on purpose, you know. It's kind of natural for us. So we're not doing this for attention."
"So you two never "grew up"?" Mike said.
"It's called having an inner child, sir..." Winkette said.
Mike was confused.
"I don't understand," he said. "I don't get it, you're a woman. An ADULT woman."
"Uhhh…" said Winkette, nervously as she held back her tears. "Well…I…I-I…"
Seeing his twin sister was nervous and trying not to cry, the Winkster stepped in to assist her.
"Need some help, sis?" he said to Winkette.
"Yes…" said Winkette.
"Sure thing," said the Winkster, then saying to Mike, "Sir, there's no harm in having an inner child."
"What are you talking about?" Mike said.
"Dad," Dani said to Mike. "Hav-"
"I want the man to tell me about this," Mike said, stopping his daughter from speaking.
He turned to the Winkster and said to him, "How is there no harm in what you are trying to tell me about?"
"Well, you see, sir…" the Winkster said, "having an inner child is a good thing. Yes, Winkette and I are grown-ups. Being a grown-up comes with a lot of responsibilities we didn't have as children. Winkette and I don't live with our parents, we have our own place and live together on our own. We cook for ourselves and we clean the house and do our laundry. And sometimes, it's stressful. And when we think about what we did as kids, we do them again as adults to remind ourselves that life is too short. You need to enjoy life while you still can. And it doesn't hurt to have fun once in a while. Yet Winkette and I do play a lot of games more than the average grown-up, probably..."
"So you're not completely childish?" said Mike. "You have some maturity in you?"
"Yes," said the Winkster. "About 50/50. But most of the time, our childish side shows more."
"Also, you said you two are living together?" Mike said. "But you two aren't a couple, you're siblings. Twin siblings. A brother living with a sister."
"Yes, you're right," said the Winkster. "Winkette is a sister. She's MY sister. So don't you ever talk to her in a way that makes her uncomfortable."
"Do you two ever fight about things?" Rhonda asked.
"Absolutely!" said the Winkster. "That's completely normal for siblings to fight. But we usually work things out in the end. We're not perfect, nobody is."
"Well, that is very true," said Mike.
"And no matter what happens and despite when things don't go our way," the Winkster said, "Winkette will always be there for me. And I will always be there for her."
He hugs Winkette as he said, "I love my twin sister very much. She will always be my sister. And I would never trade her for anything else in the world. Winkette is my everything…She's my other half…She's my world..."
The Winkster smiles while hugging his sister and said, "If Winkette here wasn't my sister, she would be my best friend..."
"Awww…" everyone said, touched at this.
"Guys?" Dani said to her friends. "Have we forgot? We need to take the egg back to where Winkette found it. It's the only place where it will hatch!"
"But where is it?" Aaron asked. "I don't have it!"
"Neither do I!" Dani said, then turning to Barney and asking him, "Do you have the egg, Barney?"
"No I do not," Barney said. "Last time I saw it, Winkette had it."
"Sorry, I don't have the egg…" said Winkette.
"Don't worry!" the Winkster said, remembering something. "I have it! The egg is literally on me!"
"Then let's get back to the twins' backyard shed!" said Barney.
"Wait!" the Winkster said. "I need to go get the egg first."
The Winkster takes the backpack off and opens it as he pulls out the egg.
"Is it damaged?" Winkette asked.
"Nope," said the Winkster, examining the egg and seeing it was still intact. "It's completely unharmed."
"Oh thank goodness!" Winkette said in relief. "I really thought it would get ruined during the freefall!"
"Is this the egg you kids were trying to tell me about?" Rhonda said to Dani and Aaron.
"It sure is, Mom," said Dani. "This is the egg."
"I see," said Rhonda, looking at the egg. "My, it's beautiful."
"Very nice," said Mike.
"And very colorful, too," Winkette giggled. "Hehehe!"
"Indeed," said Mike, then noticing something on the egg as he asked, "Wait, what is it doing?"
"What's happening?" Rhonda asked.
As he was holding the egg, the Winkster saw the top ring, the last one, starting to glow brightly.
"We need to get to the shed NOW, Winkette!" the Winkster cried.
"Huh?!" said Winkette, then seeing what was happening as she cried, "Gee willikers! The very last ring is lighting up!"
The ring stopped glowing as it left behind the same shade of pink that the bottom ring is.
"It's time for the dream maker to hatch!" Aaron cried.
"Yeah!" Dani cried.
"Hurry Winkette!" the Winkster said to his sister. "We have to get back to the shed in our backyard and FAST! It's the only place where the egg can hatch since you found it there!"
"Wait, where do you two live?!" Rhonda asked.
"Our house is about just a block away!" said the Winkster.
"Okay!" said Rhonda.
"Wait!" said Mike. "We want to see this!"
"You're welcome to do so!" the Winkster said to everyone. "All of you! Now let's hurry!"
Everyone started to quickly head over to the Winkster and Winkette's house with the twins leading the way. But since the Winkster was in such a hurry, he lost his footing as he accidentally trips and falls onto the sidewalk. And since he fell while holding the egg, the egg went out of his hands as it went airborne and zoomed fast away from the group yet again. This made him extra worried since now all the rings were lit.
"Oooooh nooooo…!" he shouted all worried.
"Not again!" Winkette said.
She quickly helps her brother up and said to him, "Come on, Winkster! We got to catch the egg! Let's do this together!"
"Right, let's go, sis!" the Winkster said, then saying to the group. "Watch this, guys!"
The twins started to focus hard and used their shared special ability as they ran very fast. And once they had a chance to catch the egg, the two did some physical tricks to reach it. And the final move was the Winkster throwing his sister into the air when the egg was heading towards them. Winkette caught the egg as she flipped herself and landed on her feet on the ground without stumbling.
"Got it!" said Winkette.
Winkette then counts how many times she caught the egg today and gasped in surprise as she said happily, "Third time's the charm!"
The group ran up to the twins, amazed at what they just saw them do. Both Rhonda and Mike were especially amazed and very astonished as this was the very first time witnessing the Winkster and Winkette's physical abilities. Especially since they had no idea the twins can even do that.
"Amazing!" Rhonda cried.
"Isn't it?!" Dani said.
"Oh yes!" Rhonda said. "That was incredible!"
"How did you two do that?!" Mike asked the twins.
"We're very nimble," said the Winkster. "Nimble as can be."
"And quick as a wink!" said Winkette, looking at her brother as the two wink at each other. "Hehehe!"
"Is that why both your names start with the word Wink?" Mike said.
"That's right!" said the Winkster. "Whoo hoo hoo hoo!"
"Wow, that was awesome, you two!" said a male voice.
"Can you do that again?!" said a female voice.
The twins turn around and saw BJ and his little sister, Baby Bop. The two dinosaur children happened to be walking nearby on the same sidewalk when they both witnessed the Winkster and Winkette's stunt a minute ago.
"It's Baby Bop and BJ!" Dani cried happily.
"Hey guys!" said Aaron.
"Hi Aaron!" said BJ. "Hi Dani! Hi everybody!"
"Hello!" said Baby Bop.
"You kids got two more friends, I see," Mike said to Dani and Aaron.
"Yes," said Dani, then saying to BJ and Baby Bop, "What brings you two here? Just stopped by to say hi?"
"That and Barney told us about the egg you found!" BJ said.
"Oh!" Dani said. "Well actually, I didn't find the egg. The Winkster and Winkette did."
She turned to the twins and said to them, "Right guys?"
"Right," the Winkster and Winkette said.
"It's very pretty!" Baby Bop said, seeing the egg in Winkette's hands. "Like a rainbow!"
"It really is," said Winkette. "And right now we need to bring it back to me and my brother's backyard shed."
She then said to the Winkster, "Maybe we should be walking to our backyard and not running this time."
"But are we going to make it in time?" the Winkster asked. "All the rings are lit!"
"Would speed walking at least make you feel better?" Winkette suggested.
"Yeah," said the Winkster.
The two hold hands as they sped walked together while Winkette was holding the egg. But even speed walking was a little bit faster because of their shared special ability.
"Winkster! Winkette!" Dani said to the twins. "Slow down!"
"You're too fast!" Aaron said. "Even while speed walking?!"
"Sorry, we can't help it!" the Winkster laughed. "Whoo hoo hoo hoo!"
"Don't worry, everyone!" Winkette said. "We're almost at me and my brother's house!"
