Sesshomaru walked up to her. "Are you finished,"

She stared at him. Was Kikyo messing with her? Was what she said real, and if it was, why was he waiting?

"Miko,"

Kagome snapped out of it. "Hey, not my fault you didn't ask first," She tried to recover,

Sesshomaru looked away. "What did she want," He asked

Kagome put her hands on her hips. "None of your business, sir,"

Sesshomaru looked at her with slightly narrowed eyes. Something was amiss. "Come,"

"We are leaving?"

"Hn,"

"But I thought you wanted to dance,"

He grabbed her hand and pulled her out. Oh, he wanted to do something alright, but it wasn't a dance.

"I would have said no anyway," She said as she was being dragged down a hall. He moved quickly, pushing her against a wall, his hands on either side of her head. "As if I would have asked woman, and I did not forget what you did, did you forget my warning?"

Kagome looked into his eyes. Was this his game? Was he just testing or teasing?

"Sess-"

He kissed her, his lips soft against hers, then he moved slowly. His mouth danced with hers; they tasted each other, and he could taste her alcohol.

This kiss felt different, and fear rose up in her, and she pushed him away. "Stop!"

He growled slightly, but anger rose in her.

"You would rather dance, Miko?" He moves back closer to her.

"I would rather you stop playing with me!"

"Are you sure about that,"

She looked away. He was such a jerk. This whole time, she was supposed to be the one he wanted, and yet, he teased, made her look like a fool, let her think...

"Yes, im sure," She said, her tone quiet.

He stared down at her. The other woman had to have said something to Kagome, but what he didnt know, but she was acting differently.

"I am not your toy, Sesshomaru; if you have something to say, say it."

"You like it better when I dont talk, remember," He left her and walked back to the dinner.

Kagome wanted to cry; she didnt know why, but she did. Part of her suddenly knew that it was true, but then, if it was, why all the games? Sure, it was fun, but he didnt tell her, didnt ask. Did he even really want this, or was he fighting against his instincts?

Kagome slowly walked back and sat down. She would settle down and wait for him; perhaps in the limo, she would have the courage to ask him.

Kikyo and Inuyasha watched, worried.

Sesshomaru grabbed some random woman and went to the dance floor.

Something happened, and it wasn't good. They watched Kagome as she seemed to zone out, they watched as her eyes lifted, they watched as Kagome found him on the floor with another.

She spent the night asking what he wanted, but seeing him with another made her ask what she wanted.

But did it matter at all how she felt? Apparently not. Her dance with Hojo was innocent, a playful tease at him. What he was doing was showing her that he could have whatever he wanted, and he apparently didnt really want her.

Kagome took off the necklace and sat it down on the table just as his father walked up. "Kagome, are you ok?"

Kagome stood, and she looked at him. "I am going to go back to America now,"

"What, why, what has happened? What did Sesshomaru do,"

"It's what he didnt do," She said, placing her hand on top of the necklace,

"Do you love him?" He dared ask,

She smiled. "It doesn't matter if I love him, now does it," She then turned and went to the door. Once more, she looked back and found his eyes as she answered her own question. At some point, she must have fallen for him; it was easy, after all.

He stopped dancing. Something crept up his back; something was different in her eyes.

Kagome turned and left.

Sesshomaru looked at his father, his eyes landing on the necklace, yet again, not around her neck. He left the woman and went to the table and picked it up and growled, dead set on going after her, but his father put a hand on his shoulder.

"Before you go after her, you need to ask yourself what you want,"

"What kind of question is that," He growled at his father; he knew his father knew.

"One she is now asking herself,"

When he made it back to the house, she was gone.

Inuyasha leaned against the door to the room; his shirt was half unbuttoned, ready to get out of the dress-up clothes "K, you messed up bad this time; what the hell did you do to her besides be an idiot,"

"Leave me, Inuyasha,"

"Like she did," He smirked; he liked seeing his brother like this.

Sesshomaru moved fast and punched Inuyasha, knocking him to the floor and making his mouth bleed.

Everyone ran up the steps. "Sesshomaru," His father roared,

But Inuyasha smirked. "K, it's ok It was worth it. Now the asshole knows how it feels," Inuyasha stood up, wiping the blood off his mouth. "Im glad she left,"

Inuyasha turned and put his arm around Kikyo, and they walked down the stairs together, their father holding Sesshomaru back.

"Calm down,"

"I will kill him,"

"That will get into her good graces. I love you and all, but I killed your best friend for speaking the truth,"

Sesshomaru's pink eyes landed on his father,

"Calm down, then go after her; going to her in anger will get you nowhere but burnt and hurt,"

"I do not hurt,"

His father backs up. "Then what do you call this,"

Sesshomaru inhaled. Scared? Enraged, hated, insulted. He could think of many words, but hurt wasn't one of them; he didnt get hurt.

"I am angry,"

"Then she is hurt, and you are the one who hurt her,"

"I did nothing,"

"Exactly," He turned from his son. "Rest, give her a head start, then go after her,"

"What makes you think I will?"

"Because if you do not, you will never have her; she will never be yours and another will take that dance,"

Sesshomaru eyes bled he shut them tight, but he knew his father was right.

He would go after her.
