Mal... didn't wanna be the Gorham savior. Didn't want his boy to be one either... the child had started calling him "Pa"... Mal assumed it was a joke. A rather tactless one from Sirius... but the way Harry beamed at it.
Mal even ended up having a talk with Sirius about it.
"Harry has... had a Dad... but he never got a chance to know him... and frankly it's not a role I want. I'm too irresponsible... and was denied the chance to grow out of it. I'm not carelessly teasing you, Captain. Harry needs someone, and I'm thankful he has you. As far as I'm concerned... James will always be Harry's Dad... you're the next best thing the boy has. He needs you, to be his Pa... think you're up to it?"
So Mal tried to be, he got trillions of people murdered, to protect his son... and like any half decent father, he'd do it again.
Grunt pulled out a standard looking Com-cube... Reaper tech... pressing a button, an image of Shepard appeared, looking the perfect image of himself.
"Ya look good for a man in his thousands," Mal acknowledged.
"Thanks I moisturize," The hologram shrugged.
Mal could tell already, he was doing the right thing. Holding up the vial. He was shocked when the hologram took it, and gently pulled it away. Examining the vial. The Hologram had enough substance to actually hold it.
Shepard eyed the wiggly string. " There have always been magic users in the universe. The Reapers studied their evolution in detail... I probably know more about magical combinations with technology, then the Goblins... which is why I can tell you definitively, removing this was the cruelest thing you could have done for the universe."
Shepard smiled, "But probably the best thing you could have done for your ward. Fate is never kind to champions. I know that better then most." the vial suddenly disappeared, as Shepard absorbed it. "Voldemort will be dead withim the hour."
Mal nodded, "Just leave me and mine out of it."
"Can do," Shepard gave a cocky smirk. "I'll need the Magical fleet to help my Reapers maintain order. But don't see why that should involve you and yours." he shrugged.
"Grunt," Shepard smiled at the old Krogan... and Mal recognized the look from his own eyes... it was the look a man wore for a child, not of his blood, but he had chosen to call his own. A look of pride and love, like he was seeing the best decision he's ever made. "See you around."
Victor was panicking, as the Citadel flashed with UV lights. Mass Effect Barriers were protecting the civilian vampires, but the ruling authority quickly burned to dust.
"Father!" Tom threw a shield around the pair of them, but was quickly beaten back by lasers. Pure light as a weapon.
"Hello Tom,"
The boy turned around to spot a strange hologram just outside his shield... yet it was hard to focus on his shield.
"Not that I don't love what you've done with my interior, but I'm afraid it doesn't meet the rent agreement."
"Who are you?" Tom demanded
The man waggled a holographic finger, "Tisk, tisk tisk. Didn't you read any of the history before conquering this civilization. I'm the Citadel."
The laser intensified. Tom was forced to the ground. The boy started to panic. "Stop, Just stop!"
"You committed genocide against a billion trillion worlds, and expect ME to have mercy for you."
Tom looked up at the Hologram, his eyes the perfect image of a frightened boy, "Please..." The troubled child pleaded, with but a whisper.
Shepard eyed him a moment, then the beam shut off. And the light returned to normal.
Viktor smiled, "Not like killing us would be a permanent solution anyway."
"True," Shepard nodded. "But Same goes for me. My program is hardwired into every Reaper of this galaxy. I exist in a trillion trillion ships, each capable of destroying a star. And now we have this." He held up a vial with a golden string, wiggling about.
"The prophecy to permanently put your ward in the dirt... But I'm comfortable leaving it in my memory files... if we can come to... an arrangement. I'm a Paragon by nature... and don't want the death of a child on my conscience."
Viktor eyed the vial... then saw Tom's horrified face... it was real. Viktor dusted himself off, and held himself with dignity. "I'm open to compromise. Give me the vial, and we'll obey your law."
"I don't wanna rule anything. You'll turn power back over to the Citadel council, and be content with your place as Co-Ruler over your breed of Vampire... and I'll keep ahold of this." He wiggled the vial. "In case you try anything else."
The Reapers finished their task, gathering dragon balls, the size of planets. With the trillion trillion Reapers it was relatively easy.
Shepard appeared as a hologram within the planets orbit. They calmly requested, "Come forth, Dragon of the Gods, and grant my wish, pretty peas!"
There was quite the impressive light show, in space... and a majestic golden dragon appeared... the size of a star cluster. With a voice that Pierced his soul.
"Speak your wish," The dragon demanded.
"I humbly request all kind hearted lifeforms that died in the magical wave, that destroyed their minds. Where brought back to life, under the Citadel's rule, with their people's ideal government
Author's Note : I mostly wrote this chapter, and the last, so i could get rid of the Voldemort plot. And focus more on slice of life stories .
Tom, at least in my version, isn't actually evil. At least, not like his adult counterparts (that are still dead)
He is a hurt and confused teenager, whose greatest crime is murdering his cruel biological father, which in my version was highly abusive like the people who raised Tom in the orphanage.
Tom's diary might have killed a child, but it was mostly acting on instinct.
Even killing all the muggles was done out of fear of them, as the only ones he ever met either hurt or outright attempted to murder the boy.
He is extremely misguided, not evil, same with Viktor.
And then all "kind hearted" muggles were brought back from the dead.
Don't get me wrong, Tom is not a good person, nor is he blameless because he happened to be abused... but I don't write black and white depictions of good and evil.
I prefer "morally grey" storylines. Tom will come back, but not as a villain. All the "Evil" muggles that wanted to exterminate or enslave magic are gone. As are all the horrible rulers that only cared about their power. Compassion will fuel the nature of all governments. And Tom will see that and learn not to be so scared.
Viktor, is a bit of a hypocrite, but even he acted through fear. With all "cruel hearted" muggles gone, he no longer has anything to be frightened of.
You could say Viktor was the real villain behind the temporary destruction of all muggles. As he talked Tom into it, and Tom trusted the word of the only parental figure he's ever had. Yet Viktor still cares about his family enough to let tom have the power boost before himself.
Tom is a frightened teenager, which i tried to show with his pleas when Shepard was about to kill him. He has not yet grown into Voldemort and Shepard is going to do his best to make sure he never does
