Class 3-E
After finishing classes, all the students stayed in the classroom to continue listening to the story that their fellow Fuwa talked about Akihito's distrust and fear of people his age.
"Okay, I'll continue telling you the reason why Akihito doesn't trust people our age." Fuwa said to her classmates who were around her.
"To be honest, I found out once when I came to visit his house because he was sick that day. Then her mother even told me what had happened to her to make her distrust me, although she found out later because I told her, but luckily she didn't get angry with me." She said as she petted his Bulbasaur, "It all started 9 years ago when at that time he and his family lived in Kyoto so at that time I still didn't know him." She began to tell them.
Flashback
Kyoto, Japan 9 years ago
It was a warm morning in Kyoto, the child Akihito was watching the news with his father by his side, while his mother was washing the dishes, everything was silent until they heard a boy shout his name.
"Akihito! Are you ready to play with us in the park?!" Said a little boy.
Akihito saw from his window his friend who was next to his other two friends and the father of one of the children who was next to him taking care of them.
"And do you think you could bring your soccer ball, please?! So, we can play soccer!" His other friend said.
"Yes, I'm coming right now!" Akihito told his friends as he quickly ran to his room to get his soccer ball, while returning to the living room to go directly in front of the door while putting on his sneakers and his cap, "I'll be right back, now I'm going to go play with my friends!" He said smiling as he finished putting on his sneakers to go out.
"Be careful champ." His father said while watching the news that reported that very heavy rains would come in two weeks.
"Don't be late, dear." His mother said with a smile.
"I won't mom, see you around." He said goodbye as he left her house and joined his friends, "Ready, let's go to the usual park." He said as they headed to the park.
"Of course, Akihito. I've already improved my ball techniques." One of his friends said, while waving one of his arms excitedly.
"Yes, of course, last time you said the same thing and you stumbled several times." His other friend said mockingly.
"I swear it's true!" He shouted comically making the others, including Akihito, laugh at that moment.
"Akihito, if you ever wanted to become a Pokémon, which one would you be?" One of his friends asked which Akihito thought about briefly.
"I guess Blastoise, since then I can shoot cannons at my rivals." Akihito said laughing as his friends laughed too.
At that time Akihito had friends he trusted, even in kindergarten he got along very well with his classmates since he was an open and kind person, he even once considered his friends as his brothers because he was an only child. Everything seemed normal, but it wouldn't be long until that trust began to close.
2 weeks later, Sakyo Ward
It was a rainy day on a weekend, Akihito and his mother were shopping for food products and cleaning supplies for the house since his father was working, but it wouldn't be long before he returned home. They were both just leaving the market when it started to rain a little harder which was not supposed to rain all day that day.
"Darn it, I thought it wasn't going to rain anymore." His mother said as she took the umbrella out of her bag and covered her son.
Then they began to walk towards the subway so they could take the train that would take them directly to their home.
"Mom. Do you think Pikachu and the others Pokémon will like this toy?" Akihito asked in his raincoat as he took out an electrically designed ball for his father's Pokémon to have fun playing with.
"Of course, I'm sure your father's Pokémon will love that gift." She gave his son a warm smile.
As they continued walking, several ambulances were heard approaching the subway they were heading to.
"I hope something serious hasn't happened." His mother said a little worried.
"I just hope it doesn't take us too long to get to the subway." Akihito said as they continued walking.
Akihito and his mother were almost reaching the subway, but at that moment they saw that there was a big car accident, and some ambulances were helping to transport and treat some injured people.
"I didn't know well, but someone accidentally crashed and caused this accident." One of the injured men told the paramedic as his injured arm was being bandaged.
"Akihito, we better get going." His mother said so that his son wouldn't see that, making them both walk, but when they walked a little, they were shocked, "It can't be." She said, all stunned, since they saw that among those involved was her husband's car, which was a victim of the car accident.
"Dad." Akihito said, all stunned until he started running to see if his father was okay.
"AKIHITO WAIT!" She yelled at his son in concern, but she couldn't stop him in time.
"DAD!" He shouted worriedly as he ran to see if his father was okay.
But when he got to the car what he saw was his father with a lot of blood on his face that reached down to his arms. The boy was left speechless by the shock of his bloody body and then one of the paramedics went to take his pulse.
"I can't feel his pulse anymore, he lost a lot of blood!" The paramedic said as he checked his body.
Akihito stood there paralyzed.
'It's a nightmare. It can't be real.' Akihito was starting to have difficulty breathing.
The paramedic would soon take his father's pulse, "We couldn't save him in time, he's dead."
These last words completely overwhelmed Akihito who began to struggle to breathe more.
"Akihito!" His mother was able to reach him, but when she was there, she saw her husband's body, "Hayate." Tears began to appear in her eyes.
"Hey, you can't be here." The paramedic told them, but the boy couldn't take it anymore.
"AAAAHHHH!" Akihito screamed and proceeded to pass out.
"AKIHITO!" His mother screamed as tears ran down her face.
And what Akihito saw would leave him with trauma and the consequences that would follow from that moment on.
2 weeks later
2 weeks passed since his father's death, and his funeral was held the following week, leaving both mother and son with deep sadness.
The driver responsible for the accident fled, and the strange thing that happened there was that all his Pokémon, including his Pikachu, disappeared. Some believe that the person responsible stole their Pokémon, although this fact was never confirmed.
Akihito still felt very sad, but he decided to go to the garden so he could be with his friends since they were probably worried about him.
'I'm sure they're very worried because I didn't go to school for a few weeks.' Akihito thought sadly, 'Why that had to happen?' He became sad when he remembered his father.
Once he arrived at the classroom, he was greeted by a bucket full of water, "Agh!" Akihito screamed and when he opened his eyes, he saw how all his classmates and those who were supposed to be his friends were making fun of him.
"Welcome back to class freaky." One of his friends said mockingly.
"I hope you don't cause another death in our presence." A classmate also said mockingly.
"What are you talking about?" He said all intrigued.
"Don't play dumb, you were there and caused that accident." Said one of his friends.
"Yes, and to avoid that we will defend ourselves before you." Another classmate said while throwing paper balls at him and later his classmates also threw things at him.
"Stop it please! Why are you doing this to me?!" Akihito said, his voice light from the sudden change, "They're supposed to be my friends! Why would they do something like that to me?!" He said to have one of his so-called friends approach him.
"Friend, ha, that was before we knew why you're going to start causing accidents, so no one wants to be your friend now." He said as he pushed him to the ground, "You should be a dead freakier." He smiled darkly.
From that day Akihito began to be a victim of abuse in the garden.
Since then, several things have happened to him, such as throwing his backpack into a river, taking the things he was carrying, beating him outside of school, and writing ugly things about him in his notebook. This lasted almost a whole month.
One day, Akihito returned angry and quickly ran to his room and started crying loudly.
"Son, are you okay!?" His mother spoke to him very worried, since she knew that her son was being harassed by his classmates.
She once complained to the garden about that problem, but supposedly the children's parents had a complaint about Akihito since he was supposedly the one who had been bothering them since their father's accident saying that he threatened to kill them when it was clearly a lie from those naughty, but because of the majority of the parents, the principal gave his son an ultimatum to expel him if he did not behave better.
"GO AWAY MOM!" He yelled at his mother.
"But what happened?! They bothered you again!?" She said all worried.
"I HATE YOU ALL! I HOPE THEY DIE!" Akihito shouted making his mother speechless at what he was saying, "I DON'T WANT TO MAKE FRIENDS ANYMORE! I DON'T WANT TO BE HURT AGAIN! I WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I WISH MY DAD HAD NEVER DIED!" He screamed as he cried loudly, making his mother cry lightly about how her son was bullied and had to endure all this pain.
End of Flashback
Back in class, Fuwa finished telling his classmates.
"Before the accident occurred, his mother was offered a job here in Tokyo, which she initially rejected, but after what happened with Nakayama, she had no choice but to accept it. So, they decided to move here because they knew there was no way to fix that. But from that moment on, Nakayama decided not to socialize with people his age, until I arrived." Fuwa said sadly with her head lowered.
Everyone in the classroom was speechless and felt sadness at how this young man was a victim of abuse at an early age and some were upset at how the children where he lived made fun of him for saying that he was the cause of his son's death his father.
'It can't be, that happened to him too.' Isogai thought sadly as he too lost his father in a car accident, although he did not see his father die in front of his eyes.
'A boy our age saw his father die in front of his eyes and was abused as a child. Now I understand that distrust he has, and I can't blame him.' Nagisa thought feeling sad.
Some classmates were already going to say something until Fuwa continued speaking.
"But this would happen again a few years later." She said with a gloomy look.
"How? Did it happen again?" Yada asked, all worried.
"Unfortunately, yes." Fuwa said as her classmates turned their attention back to her, "This happened 4 years ago, we were both classmates from second to fourth grade, but it wasn't until fifth grade that we were separated into different classrooms. I once advised Nakayama to try making new friends, something he was a little hesitant about at first until he agreed to do it if he could socialize with me." She said still sad, "He was able to socialize and have some so-called friends who spoke calmly and seemed to enjoy it, but…" She stood there unable to say another word.
"What happened?" Karma said with some seriousness that was rarely seen in him.
At that moment Fuwa began to remember what happened that time since she was there to witness that act.
Flashback
It was the end of class at the elementary school Akihito and Fuwa attended.
At that moment in the classroom where Akihito was.
"Okay, we're leaving now. Are you sure you don't want to come with us Nakayama?" His classmate asked Akihito.
"Sorry, I already planned to go with someone else. Besides, I must clean the classroom since it was my turn to clean it today." Akihito said smiling.
"Okay, then I'll see you on Monday." Her classmate said smiling at him as they left the classroom.
"Sure, see you." He said goodbye to his friends.
While Akihito was cleaning the classroom, her friend Fuwa walked through the hallways waiting for his friend to come out so they could leave together.
At that moment she saw Akihito's friends on the school stairs.
'They are friends of Nakayama. I'll ask them if they've left the classroom yet.'
She was going to ask them, but before she could ask them, she began to listen to what the two of them were talking about.
"I can't believe we still have to put up with that weirdo." She said with an annoyed tone to his friend.
"I know, right, he talks about being a Pokémon Trainer, but that would only ruin his future." He said while yawning, "You already know what a failure his father was, he was a Pokémon Trainer and look how he ended up dead because of his stupidity." He said mockingly and her friend laughed at the same thing to which Fuwa was left speechless by what she was hearing.
"You're right, he inherited his idiocy, so when he starts to fail, we'll make fun of him." Her friend said, smiling evilly.
"Then we have to put up with him a little longer and even one day we could humiliate him in front of the whole school, it would certainly be a historic moment for this school." His friend said cheekily.
"You're right hahaha. Now I understand why no one wanted him where he lived before." She laughed shamelessly.
"Yeah, and maybe he plans to make false gossip to better humiliate you." Both students were making fun of Akihito.
Fuwa saw how they made fun of him, and his father began to get quite angry when she saw his so-called friends making fun of him behind his back, to which she raised his voice and decided to confront them.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING!?" She shouted rudely, but fairly, towards the classmates who were making fun of him. They both turned to look at her, "You're nothing more than trash playing with their feelings!" She said annoyed.
But those classmates seemed not to pay attention to her and did not even see her.
"Why don't you say something?!" Fuwa complained to them, to which she turned to look at where they were looking to be left speechless when she saw his friend there who apparently heard the whole conversation since he was frozen and trembling.
At that, Akihito decided to run towards the exit.
"WAIT NAKAYAMA!" Fuwa shouted, but he managed to slip away.
She felt sad and before trying to reach it she turned once more to see those classmates.
"That's not going to stay like that, you are the worst." She said all upset and disgusted as she left the place to reach his friend.
Akihito was leaving school to go home and remembered those horrible words he was told about him feeling the same feeling of abuse he had had in Kyoto.
'They are all liars.' He thought angrily.
Fuwa managed to catch up to him and stopped in front of him while Akihito didn't see her.
"Wait Nakayama, don't pay attention to them, I promise that I will talk to the teacher about what happened there, so please calm down and let's go quietly towards my house, I just bought the new volume of Bleach and-"
"Go away." He said quietly, but with an annoyed tone.
"What?" She asked worried.
"I SAID GO AWAY! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU ANYMORE!" He yelled loudly at Fuwa making her jump a little in fear at his friend's unexpected scream.
"What are you talking about?! Why do you say those things?!" Fuwa was very worried.
"Don't play dumb! We're all the same, no one wants to be my friend, they just want to use me to be a laughingstock and hurt me all the time!" Akihito was very angry.
"I know you're mad about that and I agree with you about those bastards. But you know I'm not like them, I've always been supporting you-"
"SHUT UP LIAR, YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND! YOU ARE LIKE THE REST! YOU JUST WANT TO MAKE FUN OF ME BEHIND MY BACK! I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN! I WISH WE HAD NEVER MET!" He screamed at the top of his lungs against Fuwa as he began to run without looking back at her.
Fuwa was speechless at how he said that to her and would soon start crying.
"You're a stupid Nakayama." She said quietly as she stood there crying about how her friend was hurt again and attacked her, she had never seen him like that before.
Several days had passed since that day, Akihito had not returned to school since then. The teacher found out what happened to Akihito and decided to temporarily expel the classmates who deceived him for that horrible attitude since they would not tolerate that type of attitude in school, but he still did not want to return.
Fuwa, for her part, as a good friend, has tried to talk to him because Akihito's mother let her in to try to convince her son to go back to school, but they have not been successful. She began to bring him the homework she left at his house, every time she could she tried to talk to him from the door of his room, although it was unsuccessful.
One day, after several attempts, Fuwa visited his house to leave his homework on the table but knowing that he was never going to pay attention to her, she decided to talk to him one more time, while knocking on the door of his room.
"Nakayama is me; I want to tell you something, but please give me an answer and I assure you that this will be the last time I will go to your house and if you no longer want to know anything about me, I promise that I will leave you alone." Fuwa said sadly as she sat with her back to the door of her room, "I know you've been hurt a lot and I'm sorry if I couldn't help you last time to prevent that, I'm partly to blame for insisting you make new friends, and I didn't expect them to be horrible people too." Fuwa commented to which Akihito raised his head while sitting on his bed, "But I really consider you my best friend and I swear I'm not lying to you. I really had a good time with your talking, reading manga, and playing, and I'm sure you had a good time with me too when you had fun with me." She said as Akihito widened his eyes in surprise.
Then she began to cry while covering herself with her knees, "But after everything that happened between us, for you it was a farce, everything we experienced didn't really matter to you. YOU NEVER WANTED TO BE MY TRUE FRIEND! PLEASE ANSWER NAKAYAMA!" She started screaming and crying loudly.
Akihito, upon hearing all that, began to cry lightly as he remembered how she wanted to be his friend and they both began to support each other as true friends would.
He knew that she was not a liar, on the contrary she was a kind, very enthusiastic and imaginative person who sometimes seemed a little strange because of her exaggerations, but that did not bother him much since he liked her passion like he has for being a Pokémon Trainer.
'What did I do?' As he dried his eyes and thought about all this, he realized that he had been rude to her. He was just taking it out on her for the problems of his classmates who were pretending to be his friends when it wasn't her fault, and she was trying to help him. For him, Fuwa was a true friend who would always be supporting him, and he had to do the same for her.
He started walking to open the door to see Fuwa sitting on the floor when she started to get up and looked at him with tears in her eyes, he really felt guilty about how she was hurt because of him.
"I'm sorry Fuwa, you really are my best friend. All the fun we had together was real, being by your side was the best thing that ever happened to me after coming here to Tokyo." Saying that, Fuwa was surprised by his honest words, "You are undoubtedly a kind and fun person and I want to be by your side supporting you as you do me. You are not a liar and I know you would never hurt me." Akihito said sadly, but sincerely.
Fuwa would start crying again, "You're a stupid Nakayama! You know I would never hurt you in my life! stupid, stupid, stupid!" Fuwa said as she lightly hit his chest and began to cry loudly again to which Akihito hugged her and caressed her back to calm her down.
While she continued to cry, Akihito also began to cry for saying those false and rude words to her friend.
"I'm really sorry, Fuwa, I really was a stupid. I shouldn't have been rude to you, but I swear I will never hurt you again."
He said crying, leaving both children holding each other as they cried.
End of Flashback
Back in class, Fuwa finished telling them the story.
"Since then, Nakayama feels very sorry for that, of course he compensates me by inviting me to eat, but even so he continues to feel guilty about it and that he does not deserve my forgiveness." Fuwa said sadly as she remembered that moment, making her fellows Ritsu and Hara pat her on the back to calm her down, "Well, after what happened he returned to class and in the last year of school we were together again in the same classroom and the truth is he felt a little calmer being with me, but he decided to ignore the other students since that incident and he didn't want to try again."
She remembered when Akihito would rush out of the classroom and not work as a team.
"This caused him to skip certain team activities and trips and he didn't care if it lowered his grades, he didn't want to take the risk of being with people who were false to him." Fuwa said sadly, "That's why nowadays he doesn't want to socialize with people our age, he doesn't want to risk getting hurt again."
His classmates were speechless and felt sorry for Akihito.
"Hey Fuwa, from what you told us before, Nakayama is a kind person, but he doesn't pay attention to people our age because of the abuse they did to him before. That's why he didn't want to enter this school, because he knew how they discriminated against us, and he couldn't tolerate that." Nakamura said worriedly, although she liked to tease and make jokes with his classmates, deep down she always cared about them.
"Yes. When I told Nakayama that I wanted to attend Kunugigaoka School, he also wanted to go to the same school, he even took the entrance exam and was able to pass it. But a few weeks before he had found out about the school's protocols and the discrimination against some former students of Class E, which many parents ignore because it is a privileged school with good grades." She remembered Akihito's awkward reaction, "And because he was afraid, he decided to study at home since he started middle school and did not want to attend another school."
A brief flashback appeared of how Akihito felt uncomfortable attending another school since he didn't want to be hurt again.
"Both his mother and I insisted that nothing bad was going to happen there, but he refused, and we had no choice but to respect his decision." Fuwa lowered her head, "And in the end I can't blame him, I went down to this class because of my carelessness and my former manga club classmates started ignoring me and making fun of me. There I knew in that moment what it felt like to be betrayed in that way." She said sadly.
Several classmates thought the same since they were all betrayed by their classmates and teachers from the other classes.
"No wonder he acted that way with Isogai and Kataoka before." Kurahashi said sadly.
"And that's why he pretends or ignores people our age." Maehara said.
'I guess he's not an idiot after all.' Karma thought.
"Fuwa, don't you mind if he joins us in this class?" Kayano asked.
"Of course not, I would be happy for him to return to school, but knowing him I would continue to reject this, and the truth is that before it seemed good to me that he didn't come here because of how we were before..." She said sadly, "But now, thanks to you and our teachers, I have people I can trust. Even if Nakayama doesn't want to listen to them, I want to do everything I can to get to know them better so that they can join us and start losing that fear. I would be happy if you were his friends and supported each other." She started to smile quite a bit.
She imagined how Akihito interacted with his classmates.
"His mother still has the admission documents for this school. And maybe Professor Yukimura will do something to get him accepted and stay in Class E." She said with a big smile on her face.
They all started to smile.
"It's certainly not bad to have another classmate in our class." Kataoka said smiling.
"Not at all, it will be better, plus it would help us about being a Pokémon Trainer if he started earlier. Even Professor Yukimura would be very happy to have him as a student." Isogai said smiling.
"You're right, even if we have some idiots like Terasaka, we support each other." Karma smiled calmly, although Terasaka was a little upset at being called an idiot he decided not to play along.
"And if someone hurts you again, we will be there to help you." Terasaka said confidently.
While everyone started talking to help him.
"It is clear, our mission will be to help Nakayama join us in Class E." Kayano said smiling as everyone supported this.
Fuwa gave a smile to her classmates who were supporting her friend, no wonder she liked being in this class with true friends she could trust.
"Thank you so many guys." She thanked them, smiling at them.
"By the way Fuwa, do you have a plan so we can meet him?" Kayano asked.
Fuwa thought for a moment.
"I have something in mind. Let me call Nakayama outside and tell you the plan right now. Believe me, I know what I'm going to do." She said to which his classmates nodded and soon she would quickly leave the classroom along with his Bulbasaur to mark him.
Lodging Minato Ward
Akihito had arrived at the place and had to heal his buddy's Pokémon.
Once they arrived at a lodging where they would sleep and rest. He was about to put on a movie when his phone started ringing.
"Ah, it's Fuwa." Akihito said a little surprised as he answered his phone, "Hey Fuwa, how was class?"
"No, thanks to you! What were you thinking when you walked into the classroom out of nowhere and greeted me!?" She began to scold him to which Akihito began to feel sorry for not having thought things through sooner, "And besides, ignorant to the class representatives and my fellows, you should have at least had some education! Heck, several of them even asked me about you and wouldn't leave me alone!" She continued to scold him.
Akihito put his hand behind his neck feeling embarrassed, "I'm sorry Fuwa, I swear I didn't mean to come in like that, but you know Oshawott entered the classroom without permission." He said sincerely and embarrassed, "Also, I didn't mean to be rude to your classmates, but you know I can't talk to them." He said a little depressed.
"I know, but at least you would have been a little more polite so they wouldn't think you were a bad person." Fuwa commented.
Akihito briefly thought as if he were those people who hurt him, and he didn't want her to see him like that.
"Well, changing the subject, I wanted to ask you if you already went to fight Red Eye in the shooter gym?" Fuwa asked revealing the name of the leader of that gym.
"Not really, we had… some little problems, but tomorrow around twelve I will go to face the gym leader." Akihito said cutting off the Team Shiro part since he didn't want to worry her right now and would tell her later.
"Great. Do you think I can come see you tomorrow to watch your first battle against the gym leader?" She commented excitedly.
"But don't you have class at that time?" He said a little confused.
"Don't worry, I will ask my parents and teachers for permission to be absent this time, I want to at least support my best friend to move towards his goal." Fuwa said laughing happily.
Akihito smiled quite a bit with a slight blush when he saw how her friend would be there to support him in his battle.
"Sure, that's fine with me. See you tomorrow Fuwa, take care of yourself."
"Also, I'll see you tomorrow, Nakayama, bye." She said goodbye happily as she hung up her phone.
Once the call was over, Akihito went to bed smiling as he saw that her best friend would be there to support him.
'I will do my best to prove to Fuwa that I am ready to become a Pokémon Master.' He thought happily as he grabbed the remote to play a movie.
Class 3-E
Once Fuwa returned to the classroom, she told her classmates her plan.
"Alright guys, I already marked Nakayama and he told me that tomorrow he will go against the leader of the shooter gym there in the Minato Ward at twelve. So, my plan is for us all to go watch his battle, so that you can give him your support so that we gain a little trust with you and when he finishes, we approach him to try to talk to him and convince him that you are trustworthy people and that he can join the class." Fuwa said.
"It's a good idea Fuwa." Kimura said.
"It'll be easier to try to talk to him there in the gym." Muramatsu said smiling.
"I hope this plan works, otherwise I will have to use an alternative." Okano said as she threw her fist excitedly.
Several were excited, but the class representative interrupted the small celebration.
"Wait a minute. You said he's going to the gym at twelve, but we'll be in class at that time. I don't think our teachers would cancel our classes just to watch that battle." Isogai said making everyone think about how they can get them to let them go.
"There is no problem with that, I will take care of you to supervise you. Also, I think that watching that battle will help them in their studies on the dynamics of Pokémon battles and in the training that Professor Karasuma is giving them so that they can help save the world." Said a person who was in the corner of the open door.
His appearance was short black hair, dark eyes, and he was wearing a black academic suit and a half-moon-shaped yellow, black tie.
The students were surprised to see who it was, and it was none other than their teacher.
"You're back from your journey, Koro-sensei." Nagisa said surprised to see his teacher back.
Their teacher known as Koro-sensei has just returned from his journey and is here to support Fuwa's plan. Akihito is now prepared for his battle against Red Eye, the leader of the shooter gym focused on the fire type. Can he defeat him and win his first badge? Do you think the plan will work to get him to join Class E and trust them? Find out soon.
