It's the only way I see clear.

It was getting late, but she didnt want to leave. It was an awkward silence as she did not know what to do or say. It was getting dark but she was a grown woman, but what next?

"You have many questions,"

"Too many to think straight," She said,

"Let us go to dinner then,"

It sounded so weird, strange. Him eat? Dinner, like a date?

"Or we can stay here, whatever you like, Miko,"

Honestly, she really just wanted to hug him, and that, too, sounded crazy. Dinner seemed less weird than hugging, but whatever they did, she wanted to be close.

"Dinner is fine," She said, unsure of what else to say or do.

His hand slid again to capture her hand, and they made their way to an elevator. The building was abandoned by workers, but this elevator was private.

"This building?"

"I own it; this is my office; this elevator is private; only those close to me of my kind work at the top; below me is a man who is my face, if you will,"

They didnt look at each other,

"So, you all hide?"

"We do not seek attention, though I am sure that is to change soon,"

Kagome looked at him as the doors opened; he walked out, tugging her along. A black SUV waited with dark windows, and he opened the door for her. They slid in, and off they went. Kagome could only see the back of the head of the person driving. She was quite sure he was a demon.

Thankfully the place he chose was a quiet place, busy but spread out and quiet. She dared call the mood romantic, but her mind was not thinking about the place they were in, but the person she was with.

Though his markings were gone, Sesshomaru was still clearly Sesshomaru.

"How have I never seen you before,"

"I do not make it a habit of going out in public,"

"That must be hard, lonely,"

He looked at her,

Oh, right, never mind. He liked it that way, she told herself.

"Soon you will feel our energy,"

"Why?"

"Our numbers all small; I am still the Lord of the West,"

"They do as you say,"

"I protect them and you," His intense gaze made her look away.

Under the table, he grabbed her hand again, and that made her look at him again.

"Sesshomaru,"

He missed his name on her lips; he had not realized till she spoke it. He missed a time they could never get back. They couldn't go back, only forward.

"Hn?"

"I don't think I can eat,"

He almost smirked, "Then we shall drink to the past,"

He ordered drinks, and they sat in till her phone buzzed; it was her mother. He watched her fumble and answer. Having his eyes on her made her nervous like it never had before.

"Mom, hi, sorry," There was a pause. "No nothing is wrong. im just having drinks with an old friend," Kagome smiled. "A very old friend," Her smile faded. "I uh, I don't know, yes, I will, bye-bye,"

He tilted his head "Do you need to return."

"No," She said quickly. "I mean, she asked if I was coming home," Kagome looked down at the table "I am not a teenager anymore,"

"You wish to stay with me,"

Kagome blushed. "It's not like that!"

"Kagome,"

She gasped and looked at him,

"I do not think we should part again,"

Her lips parted,

His power tingled in her hand, and her power covered it, and everything in the background faded.

"Everything around me is meaningless, has been meaningless," He told her. "I have more money than we could ever spend, more land than we could ever see, more time that anyone should have, and while I am immortal, I can still die; you can still die. Time is not a friend of mine, nor yours, but it is someone we know,"

Her heart sped up,

He lifted their hands slightly, making her look down at them. "You spoke of my destiny, and this is it,"

Kagome slowly looks up at him. "Your power wrapped in mine is the power I sought for so long, not my father's swords, not my father's house nor name,"

Tears started to form in the corner of her eyes. "I just did not know it till I felt you again,"

Tears slid down,

"Stay with me, for it is the only way I still see clear,"
