"My… mother? Then the one behind you is…?"

"That's your brother, Itachi! He's also your sensei and teaches you how to be a ninja." Itachi nodded with a small smile as she looked over towards him.

"So, my mother, my brother Itachi, and I am…?"

"Your name is Sakura, my beloved little girl! I'm so glad you woke up. I don't know what I would do if you didn't."

"Um, can you tell me what happened? Why am I in a hospital?"

"Well…." Mikoto paused before gathering her thoughts to tell her. "An accident happened while you were doing a D-rank mission in the Hokage tower. Your other brother… Sasuke… he pushed you not knowing that you would fall down the stairs. You hit your head pretty hard, sweetie."

"…I guess that's why I have a hard time remembering anything." Sakura said as she felt the bandage that was wrapped around her head. "Um, can you tell me more about our family? What was I like before this happened?"

"Glady!" Mikoto proceeded to tell Sakura about each member of their family, what she was like, and where she lived in the village. Sakura smiled as she was told all about the people she should know. Itachi even piped in on a few things as the conversation ran on. The three figured out that she remembered the information on the village, reading, writing, and maths. She even remembered the things she learned at the academy. The only things she didn't remember was about herself and the relationships she had with people.

"I see sleeping beauty is awake." A doctor said as he came into the room. "How are you feeling, Sakura?"

"Um, my head hurts a bit, but other than that I don't think anything else is a problem. I can't remember things well, though. Mom, my brother, and I found that I know anything that doesn't have to do with personal relationships or myself."

"Memory loss, huh? Not surprising seeing how badly you hit your head. I know you might want to go home, but you need to stay at least a day longer so that we can run some tests and make sure nothing is seriously wrong."

"So my little girl can come home tomorrow?" Mikoto asked hopefully. The doctor looked a bit uncomfortable as she looked at him with eyes that seemed to sparkle.

"Yes, ma'am. She can leave tomorrow if nothing is wrong."

"Wonderful! Sakura, dear, Ita-kun and I shall go home and get everything ready for you, so be sure to rest up and do as the doctor tells you. I'll come by later on to bring you some food since hospital food is entirely unediable for anyone."

"Oh, of course, see you later, mom." Sakura said as she waved them off. Once her mother and brother left, she turned her attention to the doctor and waited for the tests to begin.

Once the two arrived back to the Uchiha mansion, Mikoto went right to Fugaku's office to inform him of their new daughter's condition while Itachi walked into the backyard to find his little brother. He didn't have to look far since he was right where he had left him: laying beat up in the ground.

"Good news, Sasuke, Sakura woke up."

"She did?... is she okay?"

"Oh? So you care about her now? Well, not that it matters much now." Itachi sneered as he looked down at him. "No thanks to your little stunt, she woke up with amnesia. She remembers nothing about herself or anyone that she knew."

"…"
Sasuke brightened a bit, thinking that maybe now she would go back to being a civilian and give up on being a ninja. Itachi, though, could guess what he was thinking just by looking at his face.

"She remembers everything else, though, such as the lessons at the academy and what was taught to her. So she's still going to continue being a ninja. Now, get up and get ready to go back to your team. Your training with me is now over."

Itachi turned his back on him and started to walk back towards the mansion when he paused and turned slightly back to see his brother's reaction to what he was about to say.

"Oh, one more thing, Sasuke… mother adopted her so Sakura is now our sister. Be nice to her if you know what's good for you."

A small smirk graced his lips as he watched Sasuke's expression go from bored to panicked.

Back inside Fugaku's office, Mikoto had finished explaining the situation to him about their new daughter. His expression didn't change much besides his lips going into a deeper frown than what was already on his face.

He had to admit, that even though he was harsh on his sons, even he would not treat them the way Sakura's parents had treated her. And while he did feel a small bit of pity towards her, that still didn't mean that he wanted her in his family. One glance at his wife, however, had him keeping those thoughts to himself.

"So, what do you plan on doing with her once she's out of the hospital?" He asked as he sipped some tea that Mikoto had made for him.

"She's still going to live at the training house with Itachi. That's where all of her stuff is and I don't want her near Sasuke for the moment. However, I will be making her a room here in the mansion. She's my daughter now, and she's welcome in any home of mine." A glint in her usually warm eyes dared him to say anything otherwise. He just grunted in response.

"Now, Sakura doesn't know just yet that she's adopted, so I don't want you or Sasuke to say anything about it to her until I feel like she's ready to hear it."

"…yea, my dear. But what am I to tell the clan? You know that someone is bound to get angry and say something to her themselves."

"It's simple. Tell them to spread the information that if anyone messes with Sakura, they mess with me."

At her steely tone, Fugaku shivered a bit, remembering what his wife was like before she settled down and married him. He still feels the aches of the beatings she used to give him when they were younger every time she gets mad at him.

"…right…"

"Now, I'm going to live in the training house for a bit myself to make sure she gets situated nicely. You and Sasuke can fend for yourselves a little while longer, ne?"

He nodded his head, bothered by the fact that he wasn't going to get his wife's home cooking for a while longer and decided to preoccupy his mind with the paperwork that was on the desk in front of him.

Mikoto just hummed happily and skipped out of the room. She had a whole new room to set up that day and wasn't going to skimp on anything when it comes to price.

Sakura went through several tests done by medical ninjutsu and was given a clean bill of health. The doctor had informed her that she should be able to go back home tomorrow and not to worry about her memories.

"They should come back when stimulated with things, people, or places that you've encountered in the past. There is a small chance that they will never return, but seeing as you are young you can still make a lot of new memories." He had told her before leaving the room to check on his other patients.

Sighing, she leaned back against her pillow and wondered how her life will be from now on. Her mother and brother were beautiful people and she wondered if she was just as pretty as them. There was no mirror in the room, but she was able to bring some of her short hair to her face and see that it was pink. A stark comparison to the black hair of her family.

'I wonder what my father and other brother look like. Will they have black hair as well? Or will one of them have hair color similar to mine?' Lost in thought about what they might look like, she didn't notice when someone came in through the window.

"Ah, Sakura-chan, I see that you're finally awake." A lazy voice said, knocking her out of her imagination. She looked over to the window and saw a tall man with scarecrow silver hair and his headband covering one of his eyes. His slouched figure gave off vibes that he didn't really seem to care about anything but the book that was currently in his hands. "Good to see that you seem fine." His one eye turning up into what made it look like an upside-down U.

"..."

Sakura didn't know this man and reached for the nurse call button. Before her fingers could wrap around it, however, the man had pulled it out of her reach.

"Maa, maa~. Sakura-chan, you know that I don't like hospitals, so please don't call the nurses on me. No telling what they might do if they get me."

"Listen, mister, you obviously know me, but I don't know you. So please visit with my mother or brother when they come to pick me up tomorrow. That way I can know if I really knew you or not."

She saw his eye widen a bit before going back to its normal lazy state. He was silent for a bit before nodding his head and bidding her farewell as he jumped out of the window. She thought it was crazy when there was a perfectly good door to go through.

After Kakashi left the hospital room, he went right to where he could sense Itachi's chakra signature. He found the youth at a house that was far away from the hustle and bustle of the village with a large gate wrapped around the property. He tried to hop the fence, but got the shock of his life the moment he crossed the threshold and fell back to the outside.

Itachi found him twitching and smoking when he went to check out who tried to sneak in. He allowed himself a small smirk before schooling his face as he got closer to the older man.

"Hatake, to what do I owe this pleasure of your visit?"

"… I'm fine thanks…" Kakashi muttered sarcastically as he stood up and shook off the slight numbness in his limbs. "Look, I just got done visiting Sakura and found that she didn't remember me. What's more, she told me to come back with her mother and brother, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a brother."

"It's really none of your business, but mother had told me before that I should tell you and Naruto if the topic ever comes up. Sakura lost her memories and only has the knowledge that has nothing to do with anything personal. As for her brother… that would be me. Mother had adopted her just before the incident happened and never go the chance to tell her."

"Maa, Itachi, you know that she can't be adopted into your family. She still has parents of her own."

"Those people are not fit to be parents. They disowned her and stated that since she's an adult in the eyes of the village they didn't have to look after her anymore. You can imagine the fury mother felt when she heard about what they had said."

Kakashi couldn't believe his ears, her parents had disowned her? He knew that they traveled a lot, but civilians generally tend to love and overprotect their children even when they become ninja. It was a hard pill to swallow when he realized that the one student he thought was fine all on her own, was actually struggling with hardships of her own.

"I suggest that you go to see her with myself or mother next time. Even I could tell that she was slightly cautious towards people now that she doesn't know anyone."

Kakashi didn't say anything and turned to leave when Itachi gave him a bit of advice.

"Also, mother says not to tell her she's adopted unless you want to deal with her. She wants to tell Sakura on her own time."

He felt shivers go down his back at the thought of an angry Mikoto.

"Sakura, sweetie! Are you ready to go home?" Mikoto asked as she came walked into the hospital room. Sakura smiled at the happy expression on her face.

"Yes, I've been a bit excited to see what our house looks like. I wonder what kind of things are in my room. Maybe they can trigger a memory or two." Her eyes were closed as she thought about it, so she didn't see Mikoto's sad expression at those words.

"Well, don't worry. Whether your memories come back or not, I'll love you with all my heart." She pulled her into a hug before pulling out some clothes from a bag. "Now, change into these clothes. Those hospital pajamas are terrible and lack any fashion sense whatsoever."

Giggling, Sakura took the clothes and walked into the bathroom that was connected to the room. Mikoto was smiling happily, but as soon as the door closed, it was wiped from her face as she glared at the open window.

"Get in here Kakashi. I can sense you out there."

Wincing, Kakashi climbed into the room and scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. He felt a bit awkward being glared at, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Itachi told me about what you did. Be sure to treat my daughter with kindness, because I still have yet to forgive you, Kakashi Hatake."

"Maa, maa~ Mikoto, I just wanted to say hi and check in on my cute student. Imagine my surprise when she didn't remember me."

"She's not your student anymore. She's Itachi's. You lost your chance when you neglected her in favor of the other two. Now, either be nice, or get out."

"I'm done."

"Aw~ Sakura~ You look amazing!" Mikoto squealed as Sakura walked out of the bathroom in white pants and a fitted pink top with kimono like sleeves. She gave a twirl and on the back of the shirt, the Uchiha clan symbol shown at the top by the collar.

"Thanks, mom. Oh…" Sakura noticed the scarecrow guy from the day before in the room as well. "Hello again. I see you came when my mother was here this time."

"Yes, I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable. It's nice to see you doing fine, Sakura-chan."

"Thank you Mr….?"

"This is Kakashi Hatake." Mikoto said as she introduced him to her. "He used to be your sensei, but due to some circumstances, you were transferred from his team into Itachi's care."

"Circumstances?"

"It's not important right now, what IS, is you getting used to everything again." Mikoto changed the subject as she spoke before Kakashi could. "Now, I bet you would like to go home now, ne?"

"Yes!"

Kakashi watched as the mother-daughter duo walked out the door, Sakura waving good-bye before leaving his sight completely. He couldn't help but feel a pang in his chest as she thought about when the last time he actually saw his student with such a happy smile on her face.

'It had to have been back during the Bell Test…'

His guilt was constantly at the forefront of his mind lately on the way he treated her and knew that he should have done better, like his sensei would have done.

"Maybe I can still teach her some things now and then once Mikoto forgives me and lets me around Sakura-chan more."

Sighing, he poofed out of the room and went back to where his current team of 2 was supposed to be training. He had expected the two of them to be fighting each other as usual, however when he got there, Sasuke was brooding under a tree while Naruto was glaring at him while trying to train with his shadow clones.

"Well, good news my little genin. Sakura-chan seems to be doing really well and is going home as of today."

"Really, Kakashi-sensei?!" Naruto asked excitedly. "How did she look? Is the bandage gone? Can we go over to her house and see her in person?"

"We can…" Kakashi said slowly before patting the boy's head. "But I need to tell you something first, Naruto. Sakura-chan, she… lost her memory."

"Huh? Lost her memory? So is she acting like a baby or something?"

"No, Naruto, it just means that she forgot about anything that has to do with herself. She remembers the lessons she learned, but people, places, or things she used to know are a blank to her."

"So…Sakura-chan doesn't remember me?" Naruto asked quietly, his voice lowered to almost a whisper as he looked down at the ground. "She doesn't remember all the things we did together?"

"…" Kakashi's silence spoke volumes to him. His body was trembling as he was wracked with emotions. Kakashi was about to comfort the boy when Naruto suddenly slapped his cheeks so hard he gave himself bruises.

"ALRIGHT! That just means that I need to make new memories with Sakura-chan! Dattebayo! It'll be so awesome that her memories of me are sure to come back in no time!"

Kakashi was stunned as Naruto ran off shouting something about getting a gift for Sakura's new place. Chuckling, he glanced at Sasuke to see how he was doing and just saw an empty space where the brooding Uchiha was just before.

Sighing, he rubbed his closed eyes at the sudden oncoming headache when he remembered that he never told Naruto that Sakura was now the newest member of the Uchiha Clan and just hoped the boy wouldn't do anything stupid enough to piss off Mikoto.
