Hey there, the name's Hamtaro.. Yea, you expected a third person POV right? Well the main character of the story should be able to narrate it.. And yes, I'm the main character, why? Because I'm the real trainer here! Ivy's got the certificate and the know it all brick and all those, but she can barely hold her own out here in the woods. I've been having to help her, tell her what's what, where to set up camp, and help her not travel in to diglett mating grounds, which while almost always leading to a massive sinkhole, is just weird, seriously, I don't know how they do it but usually there isn't a speck of brown left, the things having to wash the cum off in a nearby lake.
Anyway, Ivy's been having a blast still. She constantly asks me what pokemon are nearby, even though she has a big know it all thing with one of those scan things humans use. I think she's still figuring out that we can speak to each other, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around it myself. After avoiding humans all my life, this random one appeared and is able to break a fundamental part of the way we live, and still can't catch fish.
I drive the last stake into the ground using my tails as hammers, finishing up a nice tent, when i look at Ivy and the contraption she's making. What was it again? She's sticking one of those fluffy clouds with the black brick in between 2 crunchy bricks, and holding it over the flames using a stick…. It's.. Got it! A smore!
Sure, I may be able to talk all this shit about surviving and living off the land, but her human stuff is great too, like the know it all brick, it tells her anything about any pokemon she wants to know. Well, it's supposed to, but apparently we have to use the metal balls and catch pokemon to make them appear in the know it all brick. Thats what happened to me when we went back to Hearthome City, having to go back for supplys.
I also met her mother as well! She was super shocked to see me, like she didn't expect to see ivy with a pokemon, (ivy filled me in on what happened earlier) and we even tried to show Miss Nami our unique link, it went about as well as expected, her mother not understanding a thing i said, and with us eventually leaving with the same numbers of questions with no answers.
"Ivy? How long till the smores are done?"
"They are already done! Come and have one!"
I sit next to ivy, cautiously looking at the plate of melted.. stuff, it looks well put together, but i haven't even tasted any of it!.. I slowly pick up one of the blocks of colors, and i swallow it whole… i then spit it back up because i just choked on the crunchy bricks, like an idiot.
"Hamtaro, your suposed to chew it first!"
You don habe to chew fis…"
"What?"
I clear my throat and re-explain. "With fish I can just bite and swallow. With your human food you have to 'cook' it and 'chew' and 'prep' it. No wonder you can't survive in the wild, everything's done for you over there."
"What?! I so can live out here just like you! No sweat!"
"Really? Wanna bet on it?"
I point to the lake in front of us, a larger lake than normal, but couldnt be more than a 3 minute swim from shore to shore, maybe 6 for Ivy, i've been to this lake only a few times, so i haven't seen everything in the water, but since i'm a good swimmer, its easly traversable.
"See, surviving comes in two forms." I continue "Fighting, and Befriending. Learning when to stand your ground and fight, and when to expand your circle and recruit. After all, strength is in numbers. "
"Yes yes, I understand that, but what does this have to do with the bet I'm gonna win?" Ivy boasted, no doubt thinking she'll ace the challenge.
"Well it's pretty simple, we have 30 minutes to find and lure, not capture, the rarest pokemon in that lake to the shore. Rarest one wins. We'll use your know it all brick-"
"I told you, it's a Pokedex"
"Pokedex, to see how rare it truly is."
"Ok, what's the prize? Any good bet has a prize attached." Ivy questioned, with her chin in the soft part of her pointer finger and thumb. I copy her, to an extent, because ya know, i don't have a thumb.
"Good question." I respond, and after a while, I got it.
"Winner gets the extra blanket."
"But then the loser would have to-"
"Relax, its not that cold."
"You have FUR! Of course it isnt cold to you!"
"Well are you in or out?"
"I.." I can tell she's tugged by her resolve, and I'm sure that being intimidated by a pokemon isn't the most appealing option to her. "I'll do it."
"Then it's settled, time starts now."
