Chapter 2: Meeting After The Storm
[Location: Musutafu City – Residential Area]
[Time: 3:54pm]
Rainbow was jogging back home, making sure to keep her speed under control this time. Today was exhausting, but she felt happy she was able to make a friend today. Her mind was filled with the many events of the day. The memeory repeating the most was the promise she made to herself to keep Midoriya safe and protected. Even if she would get hurt, she would protect him no matter what.
It wasn't long till she arrived home, a happy smile plastered on her face. Grabbing her keys, she opened the door and ran inside, but was immediately stopped when she ran into something hard and stubborn, falling backwards onto her behind. Looking up to see what she just ran into, she froze when she saw her dad and mum, both their arms crossed and with disappointed looks, Bow letting off small spouts of electricity.
Rainbow didn't know what to say, her parent's faces ripping away any words or sentences she could say, but thankfully, Bow decided to cut the silent tension and silently gave his daughter a piece of paper. She cautiously grabbed it and read the contents on it, and her eyes widened at what it was. It was a fine for unlicensed quirk usage.
"What?! 50,000 yen for unlicensed quirk usage! Why are you being forced to pay so much?!" Rainbow was surprised by the amount of money her parents needed to pay because of her actions.
"Plus a bill to help repair the wall you smashed through." Windy said, a little amount of anger leaving her mouth.
"I'm sorry, okay. I was late, and I panicked when I saw Kamui Woods chasing me." Rainbow tried to justify her action as accidental, but her parents didn't care if she did it intentionally or not. It still forced them to pay for the damages she caused.
"Let's not argue over the nitty gritty of you using your quirk in public. But what we are going to talk about is the punishment we will give you." Windy said, cutting the conversation to a more important topic.
Rainbow listened to the demands of her punishment, which was like any normal punishment like losing her tech, losing most of her intruments, extra chores. But what Rainbow was expecting next was the training with her mother to be increased in difficulty, but Windy went against that and said that she will refuse to train her daughter for the rest of the month.
"What?! You can't do that?! I have to train for the UA exams!" Rainbow yelled, trying to reason with her mother that stopping their training could hinder her chances to get into UA.
"Well you should have thought of that before you made us pay half of our salary. If you want to train, do it yourself. You're smart enough to train on your own." Bow told his daughter she forced their hands, and if she wanted to train so badly, she would have to do it herself.
"Ugh, this isn't fair! I'd rather take harsher training sessions instead of none." Rainbow moaned, but her mother told her this was a punishment, not a challenge.
Rainbow began to sulked, already feeling bored and went to moan on the couch, her bag still on her back. Her parents just rolled their eyes, Bow going to the kitchen to begin preparing tonight's dinner and Windy sitting on the sofa next to her sulking daughter. Turning on the T.V, Windy switched the channels to the news. On the news was an incident near downtown about a hostage situation involving a villain and a middle schooler.
"Earlier today at 4:14pm, near downtown Musutafu, a villain attacked a shopping district where he took a hostage, a kid from Aldera Middle School." The reporter on the news began reciting the events that had happened hours before.
Rainbow became interested with the events on the news, as the mention of a kid from her school made her curious, but also worried, scared that Midoriya was the hostage in this situation.
"The hostage, who's identity will be kept secret, tried to fight back, but couldn't because the villain's quick prevented the hostage from escaping. Heroes soon arrived and began evacuating the area, and police keeping the public away from the villain." The reporting kept speaking.
Windy tutted, commenting on how unprofessional all the heroes on the scene were being. Besides a few like Backdraft and Kamui Woods, all the other heroes were incompetent to the situation because if she was there, she would have scooped the hostage away from the situation before it began.
Both mother and daughter continued watching until the reporter talked about a boy, whose identity was also kept hidden, ran towards the villain. When the reporter was talking, the screen showed a bird's eye view of the situation, showing a boy wearing the same uniform as the hostage with green hair, running frantically towards the villain.
"Oh my god! What is that boy thinking?! He must know the hostage if he is willing to go up to the villain." Windy said, a little horrified that a boy was able to get pass the heroes; another reason to bash them for not doing their jobs, but that he had enough courage to do their jobs for them.
Windy looked over to Rainbow, and she saw her daughter staring at the T.V, her eyes wide, mouth slightly agaped and body shaking. Knowing what school this kid went to, she suspected the boy was a classmate of Rainbow's, but before she could ask, Rainbow bolted from her seat, feeling a gust of wind blowing pass her. She turned to see her daughter was in the kitchen, holding her phone, a panicked look on her face.
"W...wha, Rainbow! Off your phone now! You're grounded, remember!" Bow noticed Rainbow with her phone in her hands, but didn't realise the stress she was feeling, but Windy quickly calmed her husband down before he made the situation worse.
["Honey, it's okay. Look at her. I think we should allow her to use her phone this one time."] Windy said, pointing out how stressed Rainbow was from her shacking body, heavy breathing, bouncing leg, and wide eyes.
Bow finally noticed this and took a breath in to calm himself, as he and Windy stayed silent. During all of this, Rainbow was typing in Midoriya's phone number, forgetting she could just call him through his contact, but her mind was racing too fast for her to remember this, but she thankfully remembered his phone number.
When the phone began ringing, Rainbow couldn't stop her body from moving, so her left leg was bouncing, and her free hand was clentched into her mouth.
("Come on, Midoriya. Pick up. Pick up!") Rainbow pleaded in her head for Midoriya to pick up, which she then heard the ringing stop and a shaking voice coming out of the phone.
"H...hello?" Midoriya shakily said, causing Rainbow to calm down, happy to know her friend sounded safe.
"[Oh thank god]. Midoriya, it is so good to hear you. Tell me, are you okay?" Rainbow asked, and Midoriya said he was, asking if she saw the news.
"Hell yeah, I did! Now tell me." There was a moment of pause, Rainbow's happy and relieved gace turned stern and angry, "Why in flying fuck did you ran towards a villain when there were plenty of heroes around?! You could have gotten seriously hurt, if not killed!" Rainbow yelled, and Midoriya nearly dropped his phone on his end, but was able to not drop it.
"RAINBOW!!! No swearing!" Bow yelled and Rainbow apologised to her father for her crude language.
"I'm s...sorry. B...but Kacchan looked l...like he needed..." Midoriya was about to defend his actions, but when he mentioned the ticking time bomb, Rainbow became even more angry.
"Bakugou? You nearly killed yourself to protect someone who hurts you?! Are you insane?!" Rainbow asked, unable to keep in her anger.
"Yeah? It's w...what a hero would d...do. I know Kacchan isn't t...the nicest person, b...but a hero should save everyone, n...no matter what." Midoriya said, his voice made him sound proud of what he has done, and Rainbow really couldn't argue against him, as a hero's job is to save people, even the awful ones.
Rainbow wanted to know more about what happened from Midoriya, but not while after watching him nearly die. So she took a few deep breaths, relaxed her body and thought of a way she can talk to Midoriya about today until an idea came to mind.
"Hey, Midoriya. Do you mind if we talk about this more in person after school? I know a good café we can go to. They have some of the best pastries and sweets I've had." Rainbow offered to continue their conversation where they can speak in person, while also having something to eat.
"O...o...oh, o...ok. S...sound l...l...like a g...good i...id...dea." Rainbow listened to Midoriya's stuttering, but was happy to hear he was still the same goofball she met.
"[Awesome!] I'll see you tomorrow in class. See ya, Midoriya." Rainbow said her goodbyes while Midoriya quietly said goodbye on the other end, then Rainbow ended the call.
When Rainbow ended the call, she took a needed breath of fresh air, leaning back onto the counter, holding her phone close, glad to know Midoriya was safe and sound. But she felt a little angry that he went and put his life on the line for someone so crule, but remembering why he did it, made it harder for her to be angry at him. She can accept the fact that even someone like Bakugou doesn't deserve the pain he went through. No one should.
"[Honey, are you alright?]" Rainbow realised her parents were only a few feet away from her, able to fully hear her conversation with Midoriya.
Rainbow was too stunned to speak, feeling very embarrassed because she never acted so worried and scared in front of her parents, but she was able to finally utter a sentence.
"Y...yeah, I'm fine." She said, looking at her phone, then putting it down onto the counter.
"Who was that? A friend of yours?" Bow asked his daughter, and she said he was a classmate of hers.
Windy asked if he was the boy who ran up to the slime villain, and Bow was surprised, not paying attention to the news. Both the matriarchs of the house showed him the part in the news of Midoriya running up to the villain, obviously sacred, but he didn't let fear control him.
"[Hah! That kid got some balls on him!] You must have been proud seeing him fight a losing battle." Bow laughed, already loving the kid.
"[I was terrified! I nearly had a bloody heart attack!]" Rainbow shouted, but she was obviously happy and was playing around with her father's teasing.
"Well, it seems that you had quite the day. Why don't you go upstairs and wait for your father to finish dinner." Windy said, bringing Rainbow into a hug while Bow ruffled her mane.
"I'll make sure dinner is even more delicious than normal." Bow promised and Rainbow said she'll be the judge of that.
The father laughed from his gut, saying he is happy to have a daughter as snarky as he is and Rainbow snickered at her father. After all that, Rainbow dashed up to her room, bringing her bag with her so she can start working on her homework. Ugh!
[Location: Aldera Middleschool]
[Time: 8:36am]
The next day, Rainbow arrived to school on time, earlier than Midoriya seemingly, as Rainbow sat down into her chair, she saw thw boy wasn't in his own chair, so she figured he was just running late. So with time on hands, she used her spare time to sort out her things and look around.
When looking around, she spotted Bakugou in his seat, giving the blackboard in front of the class a scowl that could kill even the most stonehearted villains. Rainbow was wondering if he knew she was there, but a head turn in her direction answered her question, but all he did was scoff and kept glaring at the blackboard. Rainbow figured his current behaviour was either because he doesn't want to bother to annoy her at the moment, or if the slime villain from yesterday actually mellowed him out for a while. For how long that would be, she would cherish it for as long as she could.
After a few minutes went by with nothing interesting happening; Rainbow scrolling through Youtube to pass the time, someone entered the classroom, clearly out of breath because before she could turn to see who it is, she could hear the ragged breathing of the person who entered. When Rainbow turned to see who it was, she saw it was Midoirya, nakerd to the bone, his face all red and sweaty, arms and legs shaking from whatever workout he had done.
"Morning Midoirya. Did you run here or something, you look like you ran a mile?" Rainbow greeted Midoriya with a wave, watching him sit in his seat next to her.
"M...morning Rainbow-san. Y...yeah, I did. H...how has your m...morning been?" Midoriya greeted Rainbow with his own wave.
"Did you miss your bus by any chance?" Rainbow asked and Midoirya said he didn't, saying he actually ran here on purpose.
Rainbow, with more excitment than a baby during it's birthday, asked Midoriya if he was training for the UA enterence exam. Her question causing Bakugou to turn to their direction, and when Rainbow spotted him, she just gave him her own glare. Midoriya saw Rainbow's sudden shift in mood and turned to see Bakugou, now feeling the tension in the room increasing. The tension didn't last long when Bakugou decided it was too much of an effort to scowl at Rainbow, so he turned his head back, saying something about a "stupid Pidgeon" under his breath.
Rainbow, satisfied with herself, looked back at Midoriya and asked him the same question again. Midoriya said he was, telling Rainbow that his mum found a teacher who was willing to help train him.
"That's awesome, Midoriya! Who is it? I might know him." Rainbow asked, cheering for her friend and wanted to know who the trainer is.
"Ah... actually, I can't tell you. He wants to keep h...his identity a secret." Midoriya said, feeling like he disappointed her.
"Oh, that's a bummer. Eh, what can I do? If a guy doesn't want his name floating about, then that his preference." Rainbow sighed, pushing her chair onto two legs and began balancing on it while her arms were crossed around the back of her head.
She side-eyes Midoriya, quickly asking if this trainer of his wanted to stay hidden because he was ashamed of training him, because of his lack of a quirk. Midoirya quickly defended his teacher, saying it was actually his quirklessness that made him want to train him, saying his teacher saw potential in him saying he saw he had the heart of a hero than most pro heroes he had met. Rainbow smiled, happy to know her friend found a teacher that didn't hate him. Hopefully.
That was when the bell rang, and their homeroom teacher entered the class, saying good morning in his usual bored and monotoned voice. Rainbow moved closer to Midoriya and quietly whispered to him they would still have their planned conversation after school. Midoriya only nodded, not wanting to draw attention from their teacher. Rainbow nodded and moved back to her own seat, sitting up straight to finish this day.
[Location: Aldera Middleschool]
[Time: 3:12pm]
The school had ended and both Midoriya and Rainbow could sigh in satisfactions, because today was normal for once, because Bakugou or any of his lackies decided to pick on them, and any one else outside their influence didn't dare approche the two, with Rainbow's aura alone scaring them off.
Once Rainbow finished packing her bag, Rainbow asked if Midoriya was fully packed and ready to go, and Midoriya said he was. Rainbow gave him a thumbs up and in a blink of an eye, swung her bag over her shoulders. Bakugou just watched the two migrains walk out without a care in the world. He wanted to feel angry that they just ignored him the whole day, but he couldn't because he was still reeling from the emotions that Deku still tried to save him yesterday.
But then an idea came to his mind. They were going somewhere, as he heard something about a café during lunch time. He couldn't get those idiots out of his stupid head, so he decided to follow them to see where they were going and why. And he could also learn something about the Pidgeon to use as blackmail or something.
On their way to the café, their walk was mostly silent, mostly because Midoriya felt more and more anxious the closer they got and Rainbow could feel the tension between them, preventing her from speaking to him to not spook him. She could tell the incident yesterday still frightened him, so she would have to take this whole thing slowly.
"[Bingo!] Midoriya look, we're here." Rainbow got Midoriya's attention, making him jump.
"W...w...wha, what?" Midoriya asked nearvously and Rainbow pointed out the café they were standing outside of.
"Is t...this the p...place?" Midoriya asked and Rainbow nodded with a big cheesy smile.
"Yep! Welcome to Suger Cube Corner! C'mon, those treats aren't going to eat themselves. And don't you worry, the employees know me, so I can do all the talking if you want me to." Rainbow said, seeing Midoriya visably.
Rainbow opened the door for Midoriya to walk in, and Rainbow followed in after. Once they entered, they were immidiantly greeted by a staff member, as they happily greeted the two.
"Oh, my, it is wonderful to see you Rainbow! It has been so long. How are your parents doing?" A woman in her mid 30's, with a noticeable foreign accent with pink swirling hair and wearing clothing typical of the cafe's server uniforms.
"Hello Mrs Cake. I'm doing alright and my parent are doing fine as well." Rainbow hugged the women.
"Well it's nice to see you too Rainbow. Still as active as ever." Mrs. Cake said, then noticing Midoriya's nervous form next to Rainbow, "And who's this young man? Have you finally found a friend?" Mrs Cake asked and Rainbow was happy to introduce Midoriya.
"Mrs. Cake, this is Izuku Midoriya. He is my classmate and friend. I wanted to talk to him about something serious, and I thought it would be best to speak here, where your pasteries can help calm him down." Rainbow said, gaining Midoriya's attention.
"Wait, what. Is that your quirk or something?" Midoriya asked and Rainbow can already see the happiness Midoriya would get from learning about Mrs. Cake's quirk.
"Well, sort of. My quirk is called 'Sweet Pastry'. Any pastry I create, I can add an extra dose of sweetness to it, without adding any extra sugar or aterficial sweeteners to it. Save us thousands." Mrs. Cake explain, happy to see the boy was interested in such a small thing, if his sparkling eyes weren't a given.
When she was explaining her quirk, Midoriya was rapidly writing in his notebook, putting down as much information as hecould about Mrs. Cake's quirk and what theories he had about it and how it can be used in practical situations and even hero work, figuring a method it can be used to treat patients during recovery, especially children.
"Is he always this enthusiastic about quirks?" Mrs. Cake asked and Rainbow said he loves quirks, saying this behaviour is normal for him.
Midoriya realised he was mumbling again and apologised for his rudeness, returning to his shy, timid self. Mrs. Cake said he do anything warranting an apology, especially for being who he is. Midoriya thanked her for her compliment, continuing to write in his notebook, but slower than before.
At the same time outside the café, Bakugou and the two parasites that always follow him stood outside the establishment. Bakugou eyes twitch from the sweet scent that waft through the air. He could never understand people's obsession with sugary foods and drinks. They just make you unhealthy and fat. But if he is going to gain any information about those extras, he'll just have to suck it up. He might just get something small like a pastry.
"So, Katsuki. Why are we here in the first place? I thought we were going to teach Deku a lesson?" One of the lackies asked, as they all sat down at a table outside the cafe near the door; so Katsuki can quickly look inside and listen in on the conversations those idiots have.
"We aren't going to do shit! As much as I hate the nerd and that stupid pidgeon, we can't do anything while in public." Bakugou said, which only confused his lackies.
"Then why are we here then?" One said, and Bakugou just scoffed.
"You didn't need to follow me, idiots! I'm here to see why that pidgeon is so interested in Deku!" Bakugou yelled at his 'friends'.
Bakugou told the two morons who decided to latch onto him like leeches, that he is going to quietly spy on the two, hoping he can understand why that Pidgeon decided to protect the damn nerd
Back inside the café, Midoriya and Rainbow were seated by Mrs. Cake, gave them their menus, and hoped their visit would be delightful. Once Mrs. Cake left the teens, the atmosphere then became silent and thick, both realising why they are really here and are unable to start the conversation.
"So, are you sure you are fine?" Rainbow spoke first to break the tension, feeling the tension between them saping at her energy.
"Y... yeah, I a...am. Y... you don't n... need to w...worry." Midoriya answered, using the menu to cover his nervous face.
"*sigh* Listen, I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday. It's just that when I saw you risking your life, I felt hurt." Rainbow said, apologising to Midoriya for her outburst from yesterday.
"O...oh, it's alr...right Rainbow-san. Y...ou don't need t...to apologise. I...I would have b...been worried mys...self if I w...was in your s...shoes." Midoriya waved off Rainbow's apology, saying he would have been worried himself if she got in trouble too.
Rainbow just smiled a little, knowing she wouldn't be able to fully apologise to this kid. He was too sweet for the world.
"HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE SUGER CUBE CORNER!!! HOW MAY I HELP YOU?!!!" One of the servers of the café out of nowhere popped next to their table, causing Midoriya to scream in fright and almost falling off his chair.
"[Dammit Pinkie!] You almost scared Midoriya to death!" Rainbow slipped into english, then back in japanese, then chewed out the server for her behaviour.
"Oops, sorry! I got carried away when I saw you were here. So who's this, a new friend?" Pinkie asked, and Rainbow nodded, saying he is a classmate of hers.
Midoriya was able to look at the server and saw she was a girl around both his and Rainbow's ages, wearing the cafe's loose uniform, but the most noticeable features of her body were her bright blue eyes and giant poofy hair that seemed to defy gravity.
"Nice to meet ya, new friend! Wait, can I call you friend! I mean, your Rainbow's friend, so that means you're my friend as well! Do you want to be friends?!" Pinkie started to speak at speeds even Midoriya couldn't understand, but then Rainbow pulled her away from Midoriya because she was getting too close for the boy's comfort.
"Pinkie, don't overwhelm him! Personal space, remember?" Rainbow told her friend and Pinkie apologising to Midoriya for being so rude.
Midoriya said it was fine, saying it's nice to meet her. Pinkie asked Rainbow if she was going to introduce her, but Rainbow said that she should do that because it is more polite to introduce yourself than to have someone else to do it. Pinkie nodded, bowing and introducing herself as Pinkie Pie, a server at The Suger Cube Corner, local party planner and the eldest daughter to one the biggest rock farm families.
"Rock farm? What is that?" Midoriya asked and Pinkie said it's a practice her family does that gathers rock and minerals to sell off to their contractors.
"Pinkie! You are supposed to serve them! I know you want to catch up with Rainbow, but you can do that during your break!" Mr. Cake, the co owner of the café and husband of Mrs. Cake, yelled from the register.
"Oops, sorry Mr. C! I'll get right back to work!" Pinkie apologises and asked the two what they wanted.
"That girl is really hyper isn't she? I wonder if she had too many sweets?" One of the cronies wondered, seeing how Pinkie acted around Rainbow and Midoriya.
"Hello, what can I get you." A sudden monotone voice scared the guy, causing him to fall off his seat.
The other cronie just laughed, as he watched his friend fall flat on his arse. Bakugou yelled at him to stop laughing and to the other to pick himself up before they make a scene.
"Sorry for scaring you. My name is Maud Pie and I'll be your server for today. What can I get you?" The server, who had the most poker face any of the boys has seen with straight, flat and grey hair, just like her expression.
"Right, can I get one of your cream filled, triple chocolate donuts and a soda please." The minion who was able stay on his seat asked, while they other said he wanted the same, but with a different brand of soda.
Bakugou said he'll just get water and a simple croissant. Maud bowed, thanking them for their order and walked inside to give their order to the Cakes to start preparing.
"That girl is creepy, isn't she." One of the lackies said and the other agreed with him.
"If you are creeped out by her, then how can you expect to become a hero when you two are such pussies?" Bakugou said, annoyed that they believe they can become heroes. Sometimes he believes Deku has a better chance of being a hero only because of his notebooks, and yesterday event made it harder to fight against such an idea.
[Back with Rainbow and Midoriya]
"Well, while the tension is broken, why don't you start talking about what happened yesterday from your point of view. I want to know what happened." Rainbow asked, and Midoriya said he would love to tell her.
He began telling her that, on his way home after they split off, he stumbled upon the scene where the slime villain was holding Kacchan hostage. From outside the cafe, Bakugou clicked his tongue, angry that stupid nerd and the overgrown Pidgeon was talking about that stupid slime bastard. He didn't need that nerd's help. He was fine on his own. Midoirya continue talking, describing what happened in the news and when he talked about All-Might defeating the villain, his eyes widen as he realised he has something to show Rainbow.
Rainbow's curiousity when she watched Midoriya grab his bag and take out his notebook. He scrolled through the pages and smiled when he found the page he wanted, showed her which shocked her from the contents of the page.
"I was able to get All-Might's autograph! I actually got it!" Midoirya happily announced his greatest achievement he has ever gotten, mutterijg about how he'll turn this book into a family airloom and will be treasured as his most valuable thing he will ever have.
Rainbow took the book and got a closer look at it. When seeing the autograph, she smiled wide, matching Midoriya's happy grin. She congratulated Midoriya for getting what was basically a once in a life time opportunity, even if it had happened after a traumatic event. Bakugou was able to clearly hear this and was both angry and confused.
"What the hell? Deku was able to get All-Might's autograph? Why the fuck would All-Might of all people care about Deku?" One of the lackies said, surprised Deku got an autograph at all and was a little angry because of it.
"It doesn't make sense." Bakugou spoke under his breath, as he couldn't understand how the nerd was able to get it, because he knew the nerd wasn't able to even speak to All-Might, let alone get his autograph.
"So you got this after All-Might defeated the villain? That is sick!" Rainbow said, handing the notebook back to Midoriya.
"W...well, I actually c...couldn't talk t...to All-Might. I...I was too b...busy being scolded b...by other pro heroes t...to approch All-Might." Midoriya said, and Rainbow's became confused, maybe she misheard him.
"Wait? What do you mean? You got his signiture today, right?" Rainbow asked, but she got worried when Midoriya slammed both his hands on his mouth, which cause the hairs on her back to raise and shiver from fear.
Rainbow felt sick all of a sudden, like Midoriya was hiding something from her. Something that got him All-Might's autograph, but was worse than what she saw on the news.
"I...I...I, w...w...well i...it...it's... n...not t...t...that. I...I...I j...j...just m...met h...him e...earl...lier t...that d...d...day." Midoriya tried to say he met All-Might before, which wasn't a lie, but Rainbow was able to tell he was hiding some of the truth from her if his major stuttering said anything.
"Midoriya, I know you don't want to upset me, but I'm your friend. I promise you I won't get mad." Rainbow comforted Midoriya, saying she won't hate him for telling her the full truth.
Midoriya looked into her eyes, not seeing a hint of anger or betrayal for lying. So he took her advice and took a breath in, letting his muscles relax so his mind was coherent enough to speak. Once his mind was clear, he began to tell her how he met All-Might before the villain incident.
Rainbow was expecting some explination before whatever shit he was hiding to hit the fan, but the shit came quicker than expected, because Midoriya talked about his encounter with the villain right after they split off, where All-Might saved him and getting his autograph.
Bakugou was also listening in on their conversation, and his eyes widened from what he had just heard. His friends tried to ask what they were talking about, only because they were too busy stuffing their faces to listen, but Bakugou was too shocked to care to tell them and kept listening to know more.
Rainbow wasn't dealing with the revelation of her newest friend being attacked and potentially dying very well, as when he told her he was captured and almost died from being suffercated, she began to panic. First her breathing tightened and picked up in speed. Next her eyes bulging to the size of dinner plates and she could hear her heart beating faster than it should. The more Midoriya talked, the more panicked she became and the more frantic her body became.
Midoriya didn't notice Rainbow's panic attack because he was too busy talking about the moment after he was saved from the slime villain. That was until he actually looked up to see Rainbow was in the middle of breaking down. He saw her sharp breaths, shaking body and more concerning, sparks of electricity dancing around her body in speratic arcs, which matched her mental state in the moment.
Rainbow's mental breakdown was beginning to attract the customers around them, and soon enough, the whole café was watching the teenage girl on the edge of exploding. Mr. Cake saw Rainbow's breakdown and quickly alerted his wife, who ran into the back to use her personal phone to call Rainbow's parents to come her quickly before Rainbow actually explodes.
With everything going on around her, she could feel the many eyes staring at her and the small comments being thrown her's and Midoriya's way. She was a regular at the café, most of the other frequent customers knew her, so when they saw her break down, some of them came to the conclusion that Midoriya was at fault. She silently listened to these comments, slandering her friend for upsetting her, but she was too busy sorting out the complex emotions she was having to chastised them for attacking Midoriya unwarranted.
Looking back, she recalled hearing something like a loud clang, but she didn't pay any mind to it and kept on walking. But if she had just checked the sound, she could have kept Midoriya safe and could've kept him away from the villain.
"R...Rainbow-san. C...calm d...down. I...it's o...okay. I'm a...alr...right. A...all Might s...saved m...me. Re...m...member?" Midoriya tried to calm Rainbow down, going as far as to touch her shoulder to take her out of her stupor..
"Kid, wait! Don't touch her!" Mr. Cake was about to help calm Rainbow down, but he saw Midoriya reach his hand to her, but he was too late to stop him when he watched the kid rest his hand onto Rainbow's shoulder.
The sudden weight on her shoulder caused Rainbow to break from her panic attack, but in the worse way possible. Letting out a shrieking cry, a sudden burst of electricity exploded from her b. Everyone within 10 feet of Rainbow screamed in fear, causing the rest of the café to panic.
Because of the burst of electricity, Rainbow's brain shed away some of the panic from it, but this also made her more aware of her surroundings and what she just did. Looking down to her hands, she saw small sparks arcing around her fingers. Her gaze then focused onto the table she sat at, now having fresh scorched marks engraved into it. Looking beyond where she sat, she saw the whole café staring at her, keeping a safe distance away from her. Looking behind her, she saw the Cakes watching her, but she could see their eyes were telling her they were more worried for her than mad.
"R...rainbow-san..." Rainbow then heard the familiar voice of Midoriya, but he sounded, hurt.
She whipped her head around to look at him, hoping she could help him with whatever was hurting him, but her fur stood up straight at the ugly sight of Midoriya's disfigured right hand. Covered in burn scars, blisters and some bruising, Midoriya's hands looked like it was dumped in a bucket of acid and then put into a meat grinder, than dumped into more acid.
Rainbow already knew what had caused such horrific damage onto Midoriya's hand, her. Staring at it made her back away from Midoriya, knocking over her chair when she stood up. Midoriya saw where she was looking and quickly hid his hand, trying to tell Rainbow he was fine and that he wasn't mad.
"Huh? W...wait, Rainbow-s...san, it's o...okay, I'm f...fine! It's o..." But Midoriya's attempts to calm down Rainbow failed, when Rainbow bolting out of the café, crying.
"Rainbow-san! Wait!" Midoriya cried out for her, seeing she had left her bag, so he grabbed it so he can give it back to her, but he accidentally grabbed it with his injured hand, dropping it as soon as he picked it up.
Mrs. Cake was already next to Midoriya, ordering Pinkie Pie to grab an ice pack for Midoriya's injured hand. Midoriya tried to chase after Rainbow, but Mrs. Cake stopped him; keeping him in place with her body, saying he need his hand check and looked after.
"But I need to apologise to her! I want her to know I'm fine! She needs to!" Midoriya pleaded to Mrs. Cake, trying to escape from her grasp, but his weak body couldn't achieve such a struggle.
"Midoriya, calm down! As much as I would like you to go and comfort Rainbow, you are still hurt and need to be treated before that burn leaves a permanent scar." Mrs. Cake said, which is when Pinkie Pie came and gave her the ice pack.
Midoriya stopped struggling as he let Mrs. Cake placed the ice onto his injured hand, wincing from pain when she placed it.
"Oi, Deku!" Midoriya recognised the familiar voice, looking up to see Kacchan and his two 'friends' behind him.
"K...Kacchan?! W...why a...are you h...here?" Midoriya asked, but he got no response from the boy.
Bakugou just looked down at Midoriya, seeing the pathetic state the idiot was in. The other two just looked smug, sporting grins only creeps and villains wore.
"Midoriya, do you know these three?" Mrs. Cake asked, getting a horrible feeling from the three boys, especially the blonde one.
"Y... yeah, they are my classmates, and Kacchan is my childhood friend. We have known each other since forever." Midoriya said, remembering the fond memories he had with Kacchan.
"Wow, Deku. What useless shit did you say to your girlfriend to cause her to finally snap? Did she finally..." One of the 'friends' tried to start something with Midoriya, but Bakugou quickly shut the idiot up.
"Shut up, you idiot!" Bakugou knocked the 'friend' over the head, shutting him up, turning back to Midoriya. "Show me your hand." He demanded.
Midoriya was confused for a moment, but when Bakugou asked again with more force and volume, making Midoriya flintch, but he showed his hand to Bakugou anyways. Bakugou grabbed his wrist; pulling Midoriya up from the floor so he could get a closer look at the injury. Mrs. Cake scolded Bakugou to not be so forceful, but Bakugou paid no mind to her.
Once Bakugou was finished looking at the mess that was Deku's hand, he let go of his hand but told the nerd to follow him.
"W...wait, what?" Midoriya was confused, but Bakugou scoffed and said he would take him to the old hag so she could take care of his scar while they waited for Aunt Inko to come back from work and care for the injury professionally.
"Wait, when did you become so worried about Deku? Are you feeling pity for h... Ow, ow, ow, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" One of the 'friends' tried to tease to Bakugou that he was getting soft, but a tug to his ear stopped him.
"As much as I hate the nerd, the old hag would crucify me if I didn't do anything." Bakugou said, turning to see Midoriya has yet to follow.
"Well?! What the hell are you waiting for?! Move your ass before a move it myself!" Bakugou roared, causing Midoriya to break from his stupor and follow after him, but only after he grabbed Rainbow's bag with his uninjured hand.
"You can leave that here dear. We know where she lives, so we can return it to her for you." Mrs. Cake said, stopping Midoriya from taking the bag.
Midoriya looked at Rainbow's bag, quickly thinking about what just happened, then gave the bag to Mrs. Cake without protesting. Mrs. Cake thanks Midoriya, telling him to keep the ice pack on nice and tight. Midoriya nodded and followed Bakugou and his cronies, who split off leaving the two friends alone.
Before he left, Pinkie ran up and gave Midoriya her phone number, so that if anything happened with Rainbow, either of them can let the other know. Midoriya was a little flustered he got another number of a girl, but he pushed down his blush when he remembered this was for Rainbow.
"T...thank you P...pie-san. I'll s...send you a t...text so you c...can save m...my number." Midoriya said, and Pinkie nodded, thanking Midoriya for being Rainbow's friend.
The lackies watch dumbfoundly how Midoriya was able to get the phone number a girl without even trying, but Bakugou could care less about who's phone numbers Midoriya gets. Grabbing the back of Midoriya's bag, he dragged the boy with him so he can get home quicker.
During walk, the lackies had already split odd and after some time, Midoriya pulled out his phone and went into Rainbow's contact. Taking in a small breath, he sent a text to Rainbow, saying he was fine, telling her he was sorry for worrying her and that he didn't hate her.
"Rainbow-san, I hope you are okay. I'm sorry for making you so worried. I'm fine now, so you don't need to worry about me. I hope we can still be friends."
