"When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies."

"All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust."

"Wendy, Wendy, why are you sleeping in your silly bed when you might be flying about with me saying funny things to the stars?"

"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it."

These lines are not mine, just borrowing them from "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie. For all those who don't remember, Grace reads "Peter Pan" to little Spencer in Season 6. :)

Grace was setting up the tables in the big dining room, the children mingling around her, helping with silverware and napkins.

She smiled as little Lucy focused on placing napkins in the right place, the top of her little tongue peeking out, her little eyebrows slightly creased in concentration.

"Gwacie?", little Tess called her "Will you read to us after breakfast?"

Grace smiled warmly.

"Sure. What would you like me to read?", she asked.

Before Tess could reply, Lucy's quiet voice was heard.

"Petew Pan", she spoke quietly and slowly, watching that her napkin doesn't fall off its appropriate place because she spoke.

Tess grinned.

"Yes, Petew Pan", she said.

Grace nodded with a smile.

"Peter Pan it is", said Grace as she and her little kitchen-helpers moved along the table, setting it up.

Lillian came in with a pitcher filled with warm cocoa and smiled at the excitement in the dining room.

Grace looked up at her sister and smiled.

"We are reading Peter Pan after breakfast", she said.

Lillian nodded as she poured cocoa in cups.

"So, I've heard. Lots of characters in that one, Grace. You think you will be able to read them all by yourself?", Lillian winked at her.

Grace swallowed her giggle, her face turning concerned and serious, making the children look at her with eyes wide open in expectation.

"Hmmmm…you are right, Lillian, I may need some help", she closed one eye, pretending to think hard.

Lillian nearly started to laugh, but managed to keep her cool attitude and shrugged.

"Perhaps Lucas can help you?", she suggested innocently.

Collective gasp of joy was heard as the kids' faces lightened up.

"Wucas is coming?", asked little Anna with a smile on her face.

Grace looked at her with one eye still closed and mumbled.

"Is that okay with you?", she asked, pretending to be serious.

"YEAH!!", the kids exclaimed, jumping up and down, delighted at the opportunity to see their friend again.

"Wucas makes funny faces too when he reads", giggled little Tonya.

Grace gasped playfully.

"Well, then we'll have him read Captain Hook!", she announced in a deep voice, making children laugh.

Lillian shook her head, smiling.

"Well, you better get some breakfast before he gets here", said Lillian and both she and Grace chuckled as the little ones fastened up the tempo, some of them even calling out to Grace to hurry with the plates.

Grace made a panicked face and went on with putting plates on the table as she winked at Lillian.

"Sorry, sister. Duty calls", she quipped.

The breakfast was a joyful event like it was every Sunday.

Grace watched as Lillian and Bertha chatted with the kids as she stood at the entrance to the kitchen, lost in thoughts of yesterday's glorious events.

She glanced down at her hand like she wanted to make sure it wasn't a dream.

It wasn't. The ring was there and her heart sang out in joy.

And at that moment there was a knock at the doors.

Grace rushed to open them, knowing full well who was in front of the doors.

And as she opened the doors, Lucas pulled her into his arms right away, taking her outside.

She threw her arms around his neck as he wrapped his coat around her, to keep the cold away from her body.

"Lucas", she breathed out.

Their lips melted against each other and for a few glorious moments, nobody else existed.

His lips were warm against hers, her fingers warm against his cold cheeks. His coat and arms protected her from snowflakes that whirled around them as his lips sent warmth through her entire body.

Reluctantly and slowly they broke the kiss, but their faces stayed close to each other, their eyelashes almost touching.

Grace felt her heart sing at the look of adoration in Lucas' dark orbs. He smiled at her.

"Bonjour, ma magnifique fiancée tant aimée" ("Good morning, my beautiful and beloved fiancée"), whispered Lucas, his velvety deep voice caressing her senses to the point where she wanted to melt.

Grace smiled at him.

"Bonjour, mon cher et beau fiancé" ("Good morning, my dear and handsome fiancé"), she said, her smile widening at the words she was able to say now.

Her fiancé.

Lucas gently nuzzled his nose against hers, making her half close her eyes and sigh.

"I had to kiss you without curious little eyes around", he quipped, making her giggle. He chuckled warmly as he pulled his coat more tightly around her "But, don't worry. I won't let you get cold."

Grace smiled as she looked up at his eyes.

"More like making me melt", she said softly, earning herself a soft smile.

Lucas looked deeply in her sparkling eyes and leaned down, kissing her rosy lips again. Grace inhaled sharply at the passion that exploded between their lips and sighed in pure pleasure as he deepened the kiss.

Oh, and this is how it's going to be for the rest of our lives!

The thought made her heart soar and she hugged him more tightly, pulling him closer to her until they both trembled deliciously in each other's arms.

Breaking their kiss, Grace smiled warmly at her love and running her fingers through his hair, she whispered:

"Is it February yet?"

Lucas' smile grew wider.

"Is it indeed?", he whispered back.

Grace's fingers sneaked down his neck to his shoulders and she bit her lower lip.

"Will you help me count my special roses so I can know how long it is until February comes?", she asked silently, her smile warming his lips.

He smiled, giving her a short, soft kiss.

"Absolutely", he silently murmured.

Grace placed her palms on his chest, reveling in his warmth and closeness.

"Thank you for the roses, my love", she mumbled silently.

His eyes softened.

"You are mostly welcome, my angel", he replied as he gently kissed her hair and added, slowly freeing her from his arms "Come on, lets get inside before you get cold."

Grace nodded and opening the doors she rushed inside. Turning around, she noticed Lucas bending down and taking a basket from the floor.

"What's that?", she asked, her smile never leaving her face.

Lucas put an index finger on his lips, making "sssssshhhhh" sound before he whispered:

"It's a surprise for the munchkins. Come on, help me set up the magician tent!", he talked silently as they entered the living room.

Grace looked at him, curious and smiling.

"Magician tent?", she asked.

Lucas nodded.

"Yes, my fellow magician. Let me show you", and as he took a blanket from the settee, Lucas quickly started to work.

—--

Grace stifled a laugh as Lucas ran to hide on the stairs as the kids rushed from the dining room, gasping at their surroundings.

She and Lucas turned the living room into some sort of a Neverland with blanket teepee, dragonflies and fairies decorations and stream lights. After finishing the job, he quickly kissed her smiling lips and ran to hide until the story of Peter Pan demanded him to show up.

The kids plopped down on the pillows scattered on the floor around Grace as she opened the book and started to read.

Little Madelaine let out a giggle just like she knew Grace was about to read how the fairies came to be.

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies", read Grace.

Little Lucy gasped, looking up at Grace.

"I have a fairy of my own?", she asked, her eyes wide open.

Grace smiled warmly as little Lucy went in for a cuddle with her. She hugged her and gently kissed her hair.

"That's right, munchkin, you do. All of you do", she replied.

Tess looked around.

"Whewe is mine?", she asked.

Grace smiled at her as she squeezed her eyes.

"They are really tiny. You can't see them unless you squeeze your eyes like this", as Tess obeyed and squeezed her eyes a bit, Grace quickly reached inside her pocket and took out a pinch of glitter, sprinkling it in front of Tess' little face.

Little girl squealed as she clapped her palms.

" I see hew, Gwacie! I see hew!", exclaimed Tess, giggling happily.

From his hiding place at the stairs Lucas watched the scene in the living room and felt his heart swell at the sight of Grace and the kids. She was amazing with them, always gave every little one a hug, a caress, comforted them when they were sad and played with them until they all dropped off their feet.

She will be amazing Mum someday. And he couldn't believe it that she will be Mother to his children.

Their children.

Just imagining what kind of future awaits them made Lucas so caught up in his own mind that he nearly missed his cue.

As Grace repeated her line a bit louder, barely able to hold back her laughter, Lucas quickly went down a few stairs and entered the room saying:

"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it", he said in a dramatic tone of voice.

The kids gasped at hearing his voice.

"WUCAS!!", they exclaimed, only to giggle madly as he plopped down quite unceremoniously on a pillow next to Grace.

She snorted at his dramatic entrance and shook her head as she closed one eye and waited for him to continue.

Lucas smiled at her snort and winking, he added:

"Wendy, Wendy, why are you sleeping in your silly bed when you might be flying about with me saying funny things to the stars?", he asked, his eyes sparkling just like the stars he mentioned.

And for a moment Grace got lost in Lucas' eyes.

"Why indeed?", she whispered, and his eyes darkened just a bit.

Lillian cleared her throat, snapping them both out of their trance and they went back to the story.

—--

About 45 minutes later, the kids were rolling on the floor holding onto their tummies that ached from laughter. Lillian wiped tears of laughter as she watched her silly little sister and her also silly fiancé playing the part of Captain Hook and Smee.

As Grace widened her eyes at her, giving her cue, Lillian quickly cleared her throat, took a deep breath in and placing the tip of her tongue on her palate, she imitated the sound of a clock ticking.

The kids gasped and quickly looked at her.

"It's a cwocodile!", little Stephen whispered in warning.

The children gasped again as Lillian made the sound louder as if the crocodile was coming closer and the kids quickly looked at Lucas whose face started to change. His eyes went wide open and his facial expression turned into sheer panic.

"What is that I hear? A ticking! Smee, stop it!", he turned to Grace who kept on wiping the floor and exclaimed in a panicked tone of voice "Stop the ticking! Stop it! Stop that tick-tick!"

Grace nearly burst to laugh at his dramatic silliness. She quickly rolled her eyes to get back to her role of Smee.

"There's no ticking here. There's nothing left to tick!", she grumbled.

The children gasped as Lillian sprung from the settee and chased after Lucas toward the kitchen.

Grace was left with her mouth wide open and she exclaimed in a normal tone of voice:

"Captain?"

Only to receive a high-pitched scream back.

"SMEEEEE!!!!"

That sent the kids into fits of laughter and Grace jumped up, closing the book.

"Alright, munchkins, we have some treats for you to celebrate! Gustave made you something and Lucas and Lillian are going to get it while we put all these pillows back in their place, okay?", as the children nodded and got up, little Tonya smiled at Grace.

"What awe we cewebwating, Gwacie?", she asked.

Grace smiled warmly at the little girl.

"I'll tell you as soon as Lucas and Lillian come back", she kissed her little head and ushered her to go put her pillow in its right place.

Lillian and Lucas came back carrying trays filled with chocolate cupcakes and some frosting ready to be put on them.

The kids jumped up happily, always delighted at the possibility of frosting the cupcakes.

As they all got into work, smearing frosting all over the cupcakes and themselves, little Tonya asked again:

"What awe we cewebwating?"

Grace and Lucas glanced at each other and shared a smile.

This was it.

Lucas sat down on the floor to be on the same eye level with the little ones.

Lillian came over to Grace and hugged her around her shoulders as they both smiled.

Lucas smiled warmly at the kids.

"You know that line in 'Peter Pan' that goes: 'All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust'?", as the children nodded, Lucas continued "Well, there is also one more important ingredient in it. Do you know what it is?"

The kids shared curious looks between themselves and in the next moment, little Anna's voice was heard:

"Love?"

Lucas glanced at the little girl and nodded with a smile.

"That's right, Anna. Well done!", as Anna smiled happily, Lucas took a breath in "Well, that's how I love you, munchkins."

Little Lucy toddled toward him and went in for a cuddle, smearing frosting all over his suit jacket and vest, making Lucas chuckle as he hugged the little girl back.

"We wove you too, Wucas", she said silently.

Lucas felt his heart warming up and he placed a gentle kiss on the little girl's soft hair.

"And then there are some people you love a bit more than the others", he said slowly.

But, before he could continue, little Anna sat down next to him and silently asked:

"Like you love ouw Gwacie?"

Grace felt her eyes water and she put fingers to her lips in order not to cry.

Lucas gently caressed little Anna's hair and opened his arms as she went in for a cuddle.

"Exactly like that, Anna", as she smiled happily at him, Lucas smiled back and said "So I am asking your permission and blessing to marry your Grace."

The children gasped in surprise, only to squeal in pure joy and they rushed to hug both Grace and Lucas, giggling happily as they toppled Lucas over on the floor, making him laugh.

Grace lost her battle with tears at that sight and laughed happily as the children catapulted into her, hugging her.

Lillian smiled at the scene in front of her and raising her eyebrows, she deadpanned:

"Well, I guess that means yes!"

The children continued their squealing and hugging, exclaiming "Yes! Yes!", their laughter filling the orphanage with love that never dies.
