"Tadaima..."
Tired and in need of some R&R, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka walked inside the house, looking like he was about to fall over at any second.
For someone who was considered to be the 'perfect human', the 'Masterpiece' of a now-prestigious school that aims to create the best individuals that society has to offer, Kiyotaka was definitely having a hard time managing everything that comes with being a school chairman, a co-owner of one of the largest zaibatsus in Japan, and a father.
Multiply that last part by twenty-five, by the way.
Don't ask any questions, especially if you haven't been reading the previous 27 chapters.
After placing his shoes in the nearby rack, Kiyotaka noticed the presence of a child no more than the age of twelve staring at him with a look of wonder on her face.
"Papa is home!" a young girl with long, beige-colored hair turned her head and began speaking to absolutely no one in particular, though it appeared as if she was. Maybe she was talking to an apparition of some sort? "Hana-chan, let's tell everyone!"
As the younger girl ran off to spread the news to the people in the house, Kiyotaka sighed to himself. "Even after several trips to a psychiatrist, Otoha still thinks her 'friend' still exists. Did Kikyo give up on telling her that 'Hana-chan' doesn't exist?"
He was brought out of his thoughts when another young girl began tugging on his pant leg, making him look down. This girl had long black hair, brown eyes similar to his, and she was wearing a simple white dress.
"Good afternoon, father. I missed you," she smiled earnestly while looking up at him.
In response, Kiyotaka knelt down and planted a soft kiss on his daughter's forehead. "I missed you as well, Akari. Did you and the others do well in school today?"
Ayanokouji Akari beamed in happiness at her father's show of affection. "I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm sure that I did. I want to make you proud of me, after all."
Kiyotaka smiled before patting her head. "I'm always proud of you."
"I just don't understand why my classmates keep on bothering me, though…" she mumbled, her expression suddenly shifting into one that showed anxiety and anger.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I told them that I don't want to join them in playing their senseless games, but they keep on inviting me. I had to bring out my knife to scare them off! Why can't they just leave me alone?! I don't want their friendship at all!" she whined and shook her head furiously, doing a complete 180 of her earlier calm demeanor.
"This is going to result in another trip to the disciplinarian soon, I can tell…" he lamented internally, feeling a wave of stress hitting him like a tidal wave, just when he was finally starting to feel that his worries were being lifted.
If Akari's mother was antisocial back then, then the girl herself was ten times worse.
What kind of kid brings a Swiss Army knife to school and uses 'for protection' as an excuse?
"Akari, you can tell your father everything that happened in school later. Right now, I'm sure he wants to rest for a bit. Why don't you join Otoha and tell everyone else that your father's back from work instead?" A new voice joined in on their conversation out of nowhere. Compared to the young girl's voice, this was more mature and serious, but still had a gentle tone to it nonetheless.
That voice was enough to calm Akari down from her little outburst as she took a deep breath and pictured their happy family in her thoughts. It's what a lot of her siblings do to remain calm whenever they're going through problems of their own.
"Okay, mother."
As the young girl left, Kiyotaka looked up to see a beautiful woman with short black hair, red eyes, and a gentle smile on her face. The sight of one of his wives was enough for Kiyotaka to forget about the sudden headache he felt as he stood up to face her properly.
"Welcome home, Kiyotaka."
"Hey, Suzune."
He wasted no time and closed the distance between them, pressing his lips to hers in a soft kiss that they both enjoyed for a few moments. Upon separating from her, a flustered expression took over Suzune's face, which made him chuckle in amusement.
Even after many years of being married to one another, this girl still acted like an innocent maiden who fell in love for the first time. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing, though. He loved this quirk of hers and it made Suzune more beautiful and adorable in his eyes.
Recovering from her embarrassment, Suzune observed him for a moment before sending her husband a concerned frown. "You look terrible, dear."
"What gave it away? The clothes? The hair? Or perhaps the look on my face?" he asked, brushing a rogue strand of hair off her beautiful face.
"Hmm… I'd say that it's the look on your face, but you're always like that. Even when you can already smile and show off a lot more emotions than what you were capable of back then."
"It's just a waste of energy if I show any kind of emotion more often."
The grace of a smile touched her lips. "Hoh? Does that mean it's a waste of energy to smile at me?"
His lips slowly formed a smirk. "I never said that. I see that you're trying to trick me while I'm vulnerable, Suzune. I thought you'd know better than to do that by now, because I'm still not going to lose."
The woman returned his smirk with her own. "Who's trying to trick you? I simply caught you openly admitting that it's not worth spending energy to smile even for me."
"Suzune-chan, have some mercy on him. What Kiyotaka needs is a chair to relax in and something to drink. He doesn't have the energy for another pointless banter between you two."
A look of annoyance crossed her features for a brief moment. "I was about to do that before you rudely interrupted us, Kikyo."
Kiyotaka turned his head to see another one of his wives standing there, watching them with a displeased look on her face. However, as soon as his eyes were on her, Kikyo's demeanor immediately switched to a happier one.
"You had your chance, Suzune-chan. Now it's my turn to show how much of a more caring wife I am~" she chuckled while covering her mouth with a hand to try and stifle her noises.
Suzune narrowed her eyes at Kikyo. There's no way she's going to let a comment like that slide, especially when it was a clear challenge to her capabilities in being a romantic partner for Kiyotaka.
"Is that a challenge I hear? Last I remember, I was in the lead between us."
"A lead that you're about to lose because you're losing your touch."
"Calm down, both of you. I'm gonna get an even bigger headache if you end up having another one of your ridiculous contests…" he tried to speak up against another possible competition that might erupt between them yet again, but to no avail.
Both women were glaring daggers at one another, to the point that sparks were flying between them. Even until now, many years after graduating from their high school, their rivalry kept them from being a relatively peaceful family with no kind of internal conflict from within.
Guess old habits die hard?
Before any kind of physical altercation could take place though, several different voices rang across the main hall and caught the attention of all three adults.
"Dad/Papa/Daddy!" A boy with dirty blonde hair and two girls, one with pink hair and one with dark blue hair, all shouted at the same time when they saw Kiyotaka right before them. They nearly raced each other as they ran up to him for an embrace, and Kiyotaka quickly knelt down with his arms wide open to meet them.
"Welcome home, dad!" A girl with straight brown hair and golden eyes simply stood there, smiling brightly at her father.
"Papa's home!" Another girl with blue hair jumped up on Kiyotaka's back and wrapped her arms around his neck as she nuzzled against his nape.
"Easy, easy, everyone. No piling on dad or he might fall over because of how many we are…" A brown-haired boy who looked significantly older than all of them bore a deadpan expression on his face while he stared disapprovingly at his siblings.
"Ah, sorry… I guess I got too excited," said Ayanokouji Naoki, pulling away almost immediately when he realized that he made a mistake.
"Hmmm… don't want to!" Ayanokouji Eiko stuck her tongue out as she kept on clinging to his neck from behind.
"But I missed Papa so much!" Ayanokouji Rina whined, continuing to hug her father as well, almost as if she was afraid of him leaving again.
"Rina-chan, we just saw him earlier this morning. He just came back from work," came the voice of Ayanokouji Sayuki, who shook her head at her sister's childishness before letting go of their dad. Rina can be so clingy and emotional that her outbursts are just downright comical sometimes.
There were already tears in Rina's eyes when she looked at her siblings. "But I still missed him! I didn't see him for the entire day!"
"I swear, it's always like this with you, sis…" Naoki rolled his eyes.
The boy who seemed to be the eldest among them shook his head and sighed. "We know how you feel, Rina. And I'm sure Dad also knows how you feel. You don't have to say anything else. But at least be considerate of him too."
"Thank you, Daigo. You make Mama proud because of how responsible you are," said Chabashira Sae as she walked into the scene… at least that's who she was before being married to the man she loved, becoming Ayanokouji Sae as a result.
"M-Mom…" Daigo blushed and hid his face at the praise he received from his mother, especially when she began ruffling his hair affectionately.
Yep, a certified Mama's boy.
"Everyone, how many times do we have to say that you can't pile up on your father like that? Especially you, Rina. He's already tired from work," a woman with long blonde hair and purple eyes walked up to them and scolded the children with a lighthearted manner.
"But Mama…"
"Don't worry, Kei. It's nothing I can't handle. Besides, just seeing all of you is enough to lessen the stress from work," Kiyotaka insisted. His words were enough to make Rina happy again as she continued to hug him, while Eiko laughed and enjoyed her spot on his back.
Kei shrugged and planted her hands on her hips. "Well, that's good to hear, at least. But why isn't Chiaki-chan with you? Is she still outside?"
"Taken away by her parents for dinner. It's been a while since they've seen each other, so she decided to indulge in what they wanted."
"Then it's a good thing Haruka and Masumi haven't begun cooking yet. We'll end up having even more leftovers tonight if they did," Sae commented.
"Mama won't be home yet, Papa…?" Ayanokouji Yuuna said sadly, her entire expression turning downcast upon learning that her mother wasn't here yet.
Kiyotaka quickly turned his attention to his and Chiaki's daughter, bringing her close for a warm embrace. "She just won't be able to join us for dinner, Yuuna. That's all. She'll be home later, I promise you that."
That managed to make the young girl feel slightly better at least. "Okay…"
He turned towards his blonde wife again and raised an eyebrow curiously. "Where are the others, Kei?"
Kei frowned and scratched the back of her head. "Uh… I was helping out Shinichi with his homework when I heard Otoha shouting that you were home, so I don't really know where the others might be. I do know that Mako-chan, Chihiro-chan, and Honami-chan went out to buy ingredients for tonight's dinner, though."
"I'll send them a text that Chiaki won't be having dinner with us tonight then."
"Chie's in her room, sleeping her drunk ass off. Poor Inasa doesn't want anyone to see her like that, so he pretty much locked himself inside with his mother. They're gonna stay there until dinner, I'd say," Sae folded her arms and groaned at that woman's lack of shame, even though she was now a mother.
Suzune was the next to speak up. "Hiyori and Hisashi are in the library with Arisu and Shoji, doing what they usually do together."
"Like mothers, like sons," the Ayanokouji head thought to himself, not even surprised that both boys inherited their parents' love for books and chess and even took their interests to a whole new level.
Kikyo smiled. "Tsubasa-chan, Takeko-chan, Airi-chan, and Miki-chan are just watching TV with the kids. I was with them until I decided to welcome you home, darling. I'm sure they'd want to see you like me, so why don't you drop by and tell them that you're home?"
"I'll do it later then, after I take a shower. I would like to freshen up before greeting everyone else," he stated, satisfied with the update he received from his women before shifting his attention to his two daughters who were still clinging on to him. "I'm afraid I'll have to cut this short, Rina. The same goes for you, Eiko."
"Okay…" The daughter of Honami sighed sadly while letting go of her father. At least she was able to hug him a lot longer this time.
As soon as Eiko removed herself from Kiyotaka's back, Sae clapped her hands and caused the kids to turn their heads towards her.
"Go and spend time with your other siblings and mothers for now, everyone. We'll tell you all when dinner is ready," she told the children, who all nodded right away and left to find their brothers and sisters. Sae then turned towards her son and sent him a sharp look. "Watch over them and make sure that none of them start running around the house to find their father, Daigo. You know how eager and excited some of them can be."
The boy nodded firmly. "I won't let you down, mom."
As soon as the children left, Sae walked up to her husband with a sultry look in her eyes. Right after he stood up, she wrapped her arms around his body and leaned dangerously close to his ear, before speaking in the most seductive voice that she could muster.
"Want me to help you take a shower, Kiyotaka? It's been a while since we've taken a bath together, after all~"
It's only thanks to his many years of White Room training that Kiyotaka was able to keep himself from blushing and his face from showing any kind of emotion other than tiredness. Seriously, this woman can be quite surprising sometimes with how bold she can actually be under that serious facade of hers.
"As tempting as that offer is, I think we can postpone it for tomorrow, Sae. I just want to have a nice, quiet soak in the tub."
Though she felt disappointed, Sae understood his reasons for declining the offer and simply focused her excitement on what would happen tomorrow. "Very well. I'll hold you to that, Kiyotaka."
With that, Kiyotaka nodded at all of them before walking off in the direction of the bathroom, feeling eager to relax in the tub and wash away his stress, literally. As soon as he left, Sae noticed that the three other women who were with her all had angry looks on their faces.
"That's not fair, Sae-sensei."
"That was a dirty move, sensei."
"You really did that right in front of us, huh?"
Sae laughed to herself. Even though they have been married to the same man and even after many years have passed since they graduated from high school, these women still refer to her as if she was still their teacher. Whether it's out of respect for who she used to be or because they got used to it, the woman didn't really care.
What mattered was their reactions to what she did.
"Well, what did you expect? The more you two keep on engaging in your silly little rivalry, the more you'll be surprised at other women making their move on him because you're too focused on each other," she sent a smug look towards Suzune and Kikyo, before turning towards Kei. "As for you, Kei, you simply lack the courage to make the first move. You have always done things only after someone else does it first."
…it's a good thing that Kiyotaka was already out of the area because he would have been the center of yet another argument between several of his wives.
Upon reaching the bathroom, Kiyotaka blinked in surprise when he saw a young brown-haired girl wearing a maid outfit rummaging through the laundry basket. A big pile of dirty clothes can be found right next to her, which means that she must have emptied the basket's contents…
The girl seemed to notice his presence, making her smile widely as she stood before him. "Welcome home, Papa!" she exclaimed.
"Hello, Misaki. What are you doing there?" he asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.
"I just finished taking all of the dirty laundry out of the baskets, Papa."
"Children aren't supposed to be the ones doing this," he deadpanned in his mind. "You know that you don't have to do that, Misaki. Let me or one of your mothers do it instead."
"But I want to help! I don't want to spend the rest of the day after school doing nothing! After I do my homework, it's always so boring every time…" she pouted in disappointment for a while, before she quickly realized something. "Wait, are you going to take a bath, Papa?"
"Yes."
She smiled widely. "Let me take all your dirty clothes, Papa! I'll bring them to Mama so they can be washed."
Kiyotaka shook his head. "Misaki, you don't need to. Just go be with your siblings."
"But Mama is already taking care of the laundry, so I can bring your clothes to her! She said that while there's time before dinner, she could get started doing the laundry right away so that there's no need to worry about it during the weekend."
"One of these days, Maya is going to keel over out of exhaustion. We can always hire housekeepers to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the whole place," the brown-haired man almost palmed his face out of frustration, but kept himself from losing it.
For some reason, his wives were very adamant on not having any kind of housekeeping in their home. Something about him 'being too hot for a regular person' to handle, if he recalled correctly, which he didn't really understand.
Kiyotaka was aware of his own appearance and looks, but he can't be that handsome… right?
"There is no need, Misaki. I'll bring my clothes to her myself. Along with the other dirty laundry. Go be with your brothers and sisters."
"Aye, aye!" The girl nodded without hesitation, not even bothered at being scolded. Misaki then began jumping up and down out of excitement, which only made him more confused. What is she planning now? "Ne, ne, Misaki is a good girl, right? Do you think Misaki is a good girl, Papa?"
"Misaki is a good girl, there's no doubt about it," he leaned down and patted her head softly, while his thoughts were somewhere else at the moment. "That maid outfit doesn't help at all. I'm still disappointed in Junko for giving her the idea and in Maya for thinking nothing of it."
Ayanokouji Junko definitely got her chaotic and mischievous personality from her mother, because most of the trouble that occurs between the kids is usually due to her. No matter how much of an outstanding and capable child that she is, her troublemaker attitude will follow her wherever she goes…
It's because of her that Misaki ended up wearing a maid outfit at home for about a month now, and it all started when Maya's daughter stated her desire to help their parents and keep their home a clean environment for all of them.
Junko proceeded to tell her that wearing a maid outfit would help her
Ichika's daughter got scolded so hard that day by Kiyotaka and his other wives, but the damage was already done. Misaki somehow took a liking to wearing a maid outfit because it made her cute and helped to distinguish her from her other siblings, while Maya herself didn't really have a problem with her own daughter wearing one, earning her weird looks from everyone else.
Both Ichika and Junko shared a good laugh at the end of it all.
"Yay! I'll see you at dinner, Papa! I love you!" Misaki threw her arms out and hugged her father tightly.
Kiyotaka returned the hug right away. "I love you too."
After his and Maya's daughter skipped off to be with her siblings, Kiyotaka proceeded towards the bathroom and shut the door behind him. He quickly stripped himself of his clothing and stepped into the bathtub, before turning on the faucet. He then leaned back and closed his eyes, patiently waiting for the tub to be filled with water soon.
"Darling~ would you like me to wash your back?"
That devilish and sexy voice came from someone he recognized right away, but Kiyotaka didn't open his eyes yet. "I was wondering where you were, Ichika. But I already had a feeling that you were here when I noticed someone's presence behind the door earlier."
She gasped happily. "As expected of my darling~! You just didn't say anything, did you?"
"Didn't feel like it. So why are you here, Ichika?"
"I'm always ready to give you a relaxing time, darling~" Ichika said sexily before standing up with her hands on her hips. Her clothes were long gone and she only had a bath towel wrapped around her body. "So how about it? Want to have some fun. I'm so wet right now too~"
Even with her attempt at getting him to give in to her wiles, Kiyotaka kept his eyes shut. "Tempting, but I'm going to give you the same answer I gave Saeearlier. I just want a quiet soak in the tub, perhaps we can do this tomorrow instead. Now, you can stay and have a normal bath with me or you can leave me be and let me enjoy a quiet time to myself. It's your choice, Ichika."
"Oh, fine~ I guess I can enjoy cuddling with darling for once…"
Ichika sighed, but she wasn't disappointed or sad at all. Letting her towel drop to the floor, she stepped into the bathtub and lowered herself on it. The woman then leaned back against him, their bare bodies coming into contact with each other. Ichika let out another sigh, this time out of happiness as she relaxed in her husband's arms.
Kiyotaka hummed as he hugged her closer, eliciting a squeak from Ichika. "I knew you'd make the right choice, because I enjoy cuddling with you as well."
"Awww, you're making my heart race, darling~!"
GOTCHA! There's no better April Fools' chapter than to cut your immersions short by ending the chapter here. I regret nothing. If you're curious about the rest, Shiho, and Sakurako, and Yuki were in the latter's bedroom, performing as a band for Tsubaki, Amasawa, Shiranami, and Kamuro's kids. Nazuna was helping out her own kid with her homework. Mio and Ai were training their kids in martial arts. That's all. Happy April Fools' Day, everyone! I'll delete this chapter on the next update!
