ASC: Chapter 10

A few minutes after the fire started at the old warehouse, Evan's colleagues arrived at the site, ready to arrest the culprits and save the kids who were kidnapped. Evan, in the meantime, was driving to where Mr. Corvin was truly right now, along with the kids; or so he guessed. There was a cliffside between the warehouse and the fairground that the Corvin Family used to 'get rid of unwanted trash'.

Meanwhile, at the cliffside, Mr. Corvin had finished walking to where he needed to be. His goons had placed both Eddy and Jade near the cliff, both were still knocked out from before. The wind around the area was blowing very harshly, pushing up against the cliff.

Mr. Corvin approached Jade, examining her arms and legs at first, "Hmm, a pretty good figure."

He then grabbed her shirt collar, "But there's still plenty of room to grow…" he said before looking down into her shirt.

That was when Mr. Corvin noticed something that made him frown, "Wait, there's a nasty scar around her neck and collar bone!" he growled before letting go of her shirt collar, "How disappointing, she is trash after all. Our girls need to have the perfect skin."

Eddy could feel himself starting to come too as he heard a loud car horn approaching where he was. Eddy opened his eyes to see a car coming to a screeching halt nearby, though he could not tell who had come out of it. He turned to his left, only to see that Mr. Corvin was holding Jade by her shirt collar and her waist; she still looked like she was knocked out.

Eddy widened his eyes in horror, looking at his surroundings and what the man was about to do. Eddy quickly got up from where he was to run over and stop Mr. Corvin, "JADE!"

That was when it happened.

Right as Evan began to run to the scene, he could see Mr. Corvin toss Jade off the side of the cliff alongside Eddy, who had grabbed her wrist to try and save her. They both fell into the ocean below at a height that was impossible to survive. They did not even hear them scream.

Evan gritted his teeth in anger as he took out his pistol, quickly shooting Mr. Corvin in the leg so he could not run away. The man yelled as he collapsed from being hit, looking at Evan with a glare before making a smirk, "Well, well, well…"

"Reuben Corvin," Evan growled as he took out a pair of handcuffs, putting them around Mr. Corvin's wrists, "You are under arrest for the murder of Alvin and Marisa Anderson…"

Evan began to recite Mr. Corvin's Miranda Rights to him, trying his best to not lose his composure with what just happened. He could hear several other policemen driving up in their police cars, they had followed Evan since he knew his way around the area.

As the police came over to Mr. Corvin to take him away to a police cruiser, he began to laugh at Evan, making a big smirk, "Not even acknowledging your brother and his little girlfriend when reciting my rights? How confident of you to think they're still alive, or you're just as heartless as I am."

Evan said nothing back as Mr. Corvin was finally taken away. That was when Evan ran back to the cliffside, looking over the edge of it to see if Eddy and Jade were somehow there at his vantage point by some miracle… They were not. The wind was still blowing harshly up against the cliff, making everything feel cold to Evan as he stood there in disbelief.

"Evan!" called out a voice to him as Rebecca ran over to Evan, grabbing him by his arm, just in case. She could see how shaken up he was.

Rebecca looked to be the same age as Evan, she had short, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. She wore the typical police uniform that every cop wears at the station.

The two of them stood there at the edge of the cliff. Rebecca still held onto Evan's arm so he would not jump after them or worse, "I-I'm so sorry…"

"… I never apologized to him."

Rebecca looked at Evan, "When this was all over, I was gonna talk to him and apologize for being so cold to him. But now I can't even do that…"

Evan turned around to walk back to his car with Rebecca beside him, trying his best to stay away from the ledge, "You should tell the force what happened, Becca… I don't have it in me right now to tell them."

"Don't worry, I understand," Rebecca replied as she took out her cell phone to inform the higher-ups what happened.

Two of the kids had died at Mr. Corvin's hands.

About ten minutes passed by since the incident on the edge of the cliff and at the burning warehouse. Everyone at the scene had been informed about the deaths that happened and the critical injuries that were suffered. Despite inhaling a lot of smoke from the fire, the only one who made it out of this situation in good condition was Double D. He and Alice were both transported to the hospital in Sunflower Shoal.

Both Mr. Corvin and Mr. Fierro were taken to the police station along with any stray followers of the Corvin Family that were left behind. The police have also arrested Bill Hershey for his role in all of this; they finally found out he was the mole after Evan gave them the clue that the mole was a high-ranking officer, due to them having access to the information needed to both find Alice and rat him out that he was undercover. It did not take Bill long to fold under the pressure once his associates were arrested.

We could currently see both Evan and Rebecca, who were still standing near the site where everything happened on the cliff.

"… What do I say to my parents about this?"

Rebecca looked at Evan once again in sadness, "They know my job was being undercover for something important; it's why I had to stay away from them for so long, including my brother."

She could see him tremble slightly, "But now he's gone! Killed by the person I was trying to arrest! I even saw him trying to save his friend from Mr. Corvin… That's how he…"

Evan felt Rebecca grab his arm once again, "I know this is hard for you, Evan," she started to say, "But none of this is your fault. You know this…"

The two of them stayed silent at that point.

Meanwhile, at the same time elsewhere…

Eddy could feel himself waking up from how cold the wind felt against him, his whole body felt like it had been hit by a semi-truck, with him lying on his back. He could feel something on top of him before widening his eyes with a small blush. It was Jade! She was still knocked out, but he had her in his arms! They were both alive!

"H-How did we…?"

Eddy started to sit up from where they fell, gently lifting Jade off him and to the side, propping her to lean and rest on his left shoulder. They were now in a small cave or alcove, one that must have been made over many years from the wind and rain hitting the side of this cliff. The space they were in was not very big; only big enough for them to sit around on with very little wiggle room. Eddy glanced over the edge they were now on from where he sat, looking up and then down. He could kind of see where they were on the cliff; they were about halfway from the top of the cliff to the middle; at a height that someone could survive if they fell… Well, they would still get hurt from the impact, he certainly felt the pain from the landing when he woke up. They were not even around the parts where the ocean could get to them. He guessed that the wind blew them toward here while they fell since it was extremely windy right now and still is.

It was a miracle they were still alive right now thanks to sheer dumb luck.

Eddy reached into his back pocket to take his cell phone out to make a call for help but stopped once he took his phone out. His cell phone was now in pieces, it had broken when he landed on his back here.

A sense of dread started to wash over him. There was no way to call for help. There was not a way for them to climb out of here in either direction. They were both stuck here.

Eddy could hear a small groan next to him as he could see Jade beginning to wake up. She opened her eyes to see where she was and that Eddy was sitting next to her, "Eddy…? Where are we?"

"… I think the Corvin Family kidnapped us," Eddy started to say to her, "When I woke up earlier, I saw someone holding you by your shirt. But when I finally got to you to grab your hand, he tossed both you and me off this cliff… We're still alive by dumb luck."

Jade was silent to Eddy before looking at him, "Why…" she made an upset face, "W-Why would you do that for me?!" she asked as she closed her eyes, looking away from him, "Y-You could have been killed!"

Eddy looked at her in shock at how angry she sounded to him; she was right, he could have died from trying to save her, but…

"It's because I love you."

Jade's eyes snapped open in pure shock as she looked back at Eddy, a blush began to form between them both, "I didn't want to lose you. So, I… well, once I had your hand, I kinda accepted the fall when I realized I couldn't save you."

Eddy made a smile at her, "But hey! Looks like it all worked out in the end. We're both alive!"

Eddy suddenly felt Jade hug him tightly as she began to sob, "I-I… I love you too!" she said to him, "Thank you f-for trying to save me!"

Eddy hugged her back as he could feel her body trembling from crying so much, 'I finally did it! I-I told her that I loved her!' Eddy thought with happiness, 'Definitely not in the way I wanted it to happen, but I shouldn't be picky!'

The two teens sat there in a tight hug before separating, looking at each other with a sense of longing in their eyes. That was when Eddy leaned over to her, giving Jade a very passionate kiss on the lips. Jade gladly accepted it back, not even feeling shocked that he went for it. Eddy cusped his right hand to the side of Jade's face around her jawline as they continued to kiss. Their kiss lasted for ten seconds before they separated from each other to breathe, they were both blushing like mad and breathing heavily as their hearts began to beat faster and faster.

"S-Sorry… about that," Eddy started to say with slight embarrassment, "I-I should have asked you before I…"

He felt her hand hold onto him, "It's okay, Eddy," Jade replied to Eddy with a smile, "Let's just, umm… try to rest for now."

Jade went back to fully embracing Eddy as he could only smile, hugging her back as he did.

Suddenly, a very loud ping noise could be heard around them, making them both jump slightly. That was when Jade made a gasp, "No way…"

Jade reached into her back pocket to take out her cell phone; she got a message from her mom! "Where are you?!"

Both Eddy and Jade made the biggest smiles on their faces, "Y-Your phone still works!" Eddy cheered for her, "We can be rescued!"

"T-Thank god…" Jade muttered with relief.

Jade unlocked the phone to text her mom first before dialing 911 for help, "This is 911, what is your emergency?"

"Hello! My, umm… m-my boyfriend and I are stuck in a weird spot inside a cliff, thanks to dumb luck," Jade began to explain to the woman on the other line, "I don't think we can leave or climb out on our own without getting hurt. We, uh, need help with getting out of here… Please?"

The woman on the other line paused for a moment before replying, "I see, where is this cliff located?"

Both Eddy and Jade were silent, "… Oh god, I don't know where we are!" Jade stated with a gasp, "B-But we can see the ocean in front of us! We're probably near a beach!"

"Okay," the woman replied before they could hear typing from her side, "Do you mind telling me your names?"

"My name is Jade Yoshida," Jade started to say before turning to Eddy, "A-And m-my boyfriend is—"

"Eddy McGee," he interjected, "If it helps you out, I think the Corvin Family brought us here, a-and they almost… They almost killed us."

"The Corvin Family?" questioned the woman. She now knew this was a serious matter and not a prank call of some kind; she honestly could not tell at first, "Alright, I will try my best to contact the police for you. Please sit tight for now, someone will come help you two."

"T-Thank you so much!" Jade said with happiness before handing it up.

The two teens sighed with relief. Jade looked back at her phone for a moment, "I-I should look up where we are with a GPS app and send the information to my mom. I'm sure that can help the police."

"Yeah, good idea," Eddy replied before closing his eyes, resting his back against the wall behind him, exhausted.

After Jade finished what she was doing on her phone, she turned to Eddy, who seemed like he was resting his eyes for a moment, "Eddy."

Eddy opened his eyes to look at Jade, "What is it?"

"Do you think Double D and Alice are doing okay? They were taken as well…"

A heavy silence could be felt between them, realizing Double D and Alice could have gone through the same thing they did, but with less luck.

"I-I'm sure they're okay," Eddy replied to her, "We'll have to wait and see about them once we get out of here."

"… You're right," Jade muttered.

The two teens could only sit there with their backs against the cliff wall. Jade began to wrap her arms around Eddy's left arm in a tight hug. Eddy replied with a hug of his own.

"I'm so glad I met you, Eddy."

"Heh, same here, Jade."

A few minutes later, back with Evan and Rebecca, the two adults were still standing close to the ledge, still contemplating how to break the news to Evan's parents.

The two adults soon heard a few cruisers driving and parking near them along with an ambulance. Both Evan and Rebecca were confused as to why there were so many policemen here to examine the crime scene; at least compared to a few minutes ago.

They could see a woman also rush out of the ambulance, coming over to see what she could do to help the officers. She had a worried look on her face, 'Oh, I guess that's the girl's mother…' Evan thought in sadness. He could tell because she did not look like an officer or a nurse.

"Evan! Rebecca! There you two are!"

The two adults turned around to see their boss rushing over to them, "We've been looking all over for you, Evan!"

"Sorry about that, sir," Evan stated, "I just… needed some time to myself."

Rebecca looked to the crowd of policemen behind them, "Did something happen?"

"A woman from the emergency hotline contacted us a few minutes ago with some news," their boss began to explain, "They received a 911 call from a girl named Jade, saying that she and her boyfriend were stuck somewhere inside this cliff! The girl also sent her mom a few text messages with coordinates on the height that they were stuck at!"

Both Evan and Rebecca stood there as they heard the news, "T-They… They're alive?!" Rebecca gasped.

"Yes! And we'll need your help when we rescue them," their boss stated, "The place they landed at is not that far down from here, but it would still be dangerous for them to try and climb up without any proper help."

"That's wonderful!" Rebecca said with a smile.

"Anyway, I needed to let you two know what was going on," their boss stated with a smile, "I'll keep an eye out for the rescue crew. Please rest for now, they'll be okay."

Evan continued to be silent as his boss jogged away. Rebecca noticed how silent he was and was about to ask him if he was okay until she felt herself being lifted by Evan in his arms in a loving way, "E-Evan…!"

"I can't believe it, Becca!" she heard Evan say as he hugged her tightly, "He's alive! THEY'RE ALL ALIVE! I-I…"

Evan lets Rebecca out of his hug to look at her with a big smile on his face, "I'm so relieved…"

Rebecca smiled back at him, "Everything's going to be okay."

Author's Note (April 1st, 2024): Hah, what an awkward day to post this chapter and the one before it. It's like a bad joke that assholes would make before losing friends because of it. Don't fake your deaths, kids.

Anyway, enough about that. They're alive! Yay!
