McGarrett's home, Honolulu, Hawaii, 9:00 PM

Steve went home. Opening the door, he tossed his keys into the potty before bending down to pet Eddie, who had approached him. Then he heard Danny and Junior's footsteps getting closer. - "How's Catherine?" asked Danny

- "No improvement to be noted" Steve replied

- "It's going to happen, you just have to be patient."

-If you say so," said Steve.

Junior moved away as his cell phone rang apologetically. Steve got to his feet as his best friend stepped in front of him.

- "Steve, are you sure you're okay?" he asked.

"No. Not at all," thought Steve.

- "Look, Danny, telling me Catherine's forgotten everything hurts me. Yeah, it's true. Because we had a history together and even if it ended badly, it doesn't deserve to be thrown away. Do you understand?"

Danny nodded.

-She'll get over it, Steve. She'll remember everything, you'll see," he tried to reassure him.

-I hope so, Danny. I hope so," murmured Steve.

The tomorrow afternoon, Tripler medical center, Honolulu, Hawaii, 4:45 PM

Steve arrived in Catherine's room and approached her.

"Hey" he greeted her.

"Hello sailor," she replied.

Steve, surprised, raised his head and Cath could not help but start panicking when she saw the indescribable emotion that crossed the face of the man before her.

"Is everything all right?" she asked him.

"Yeah... Yeah, everything's fine."

"Are you sure? You haven't seen your head then. You look surprised, I don't know... I did something wrong?"

"Repeat what you said, Cath, pleaseĀ» he asked.

"Um... Hello sailor, why?"

"Doesn't that mean anything to you?"

"No, it came out on its own. Why? Does that mean something?" she questioned him.

Steve thought for a few seconds to decide whether to tell him or not. Then he decided it was better and he started.

"You call me sailor, Cath, that's even my nickname. You started calling me that at the beginning of our friendship. I was just a little surprised to hear you say it, that's why I was making that face."

"It may mean that memory is coming back, who knows?" smiled Catherine.

"She's coming back, Cath, for sure," said Steve.

After saying these words, he realized that he had said them for Cath, but also to encourage himself. Because Cath HAD to remember.

Catherine's POV

When Steve left the room after spending an hour with me, I began to think: my parents have been coming to see me every day for almost a week now. Steve too, and I must say I enjoy his company. He seems to really care about me, about my recovery. When I asked my parents what had happened between him and me, they simply told me that we'd had a long and beautiful history, but that life had meant that we'd ended up going our separate ways, and that I'd taken it badly and accepted it. Is what I feel for Steve love? Am I in love with him? Unfortunately, I can't be sure.

Steve's POV

The investigation into Catherine's aggression is still stalled. The little we have doesn't allow us to find a single suspect who might have come after her.

Every day, usually in the afternoon, I come to see Catherine in the hospital. I'm not going to lie, I spend a lot of time with her, even if I often have a pinch in my heart when I remember that the girl in front of me forgot.
