So, you want to hear a story, huh? One where the very fate of Pandora hangs in the balance?
If not, too bad - I'm telling you anyway.
First, there was the Vault, an alien prison opened with a mystical key. To the warriors who opened it, the Vault was just a container of tentacles and disappointment. They vanished into the wastelands, certain that the Vault held no treasure at all.
They were wrong.
The Vault's opening triggered the growth of Eridium, a priceless alien element. Soon, the rare and valuable mineral emerged all across Pandora. Its appearance attracted many. Including... the Hyperion corporation.
They came to Pandora to mine Eridium, and bring order to the savage planet. Through their excavations, Hyperion uncovered evidence of an even greater Vault. Their leader vowed to find it - to use its power to civilize the Borderlands once and for all.
But Hyperion weren't the only ones searching for the next Vault's alien power. The call of danger and loot is not so easily resisted. Certain warriors came to Pandora in droves to uncover its hidden secrets.
Some would call them adventurers. Others call them fools. But I... call them Vault Hunters.
Our story begins with them and with a man named HANDSOME JACK...
But...this particular version of the story introduces...a few other variables. Ones that just might change how everything plays out. How will things change? Well...why don't we take a look, friends?
Ben was not like most people. You could say he was one of a kind. He knew he was different from a young age and grew up relatively distant from other people.
Why was he like this? Well, some could chalk it up to him being an honest-to-god SIREN. Yes, you thought only women could be Sirens, well Ben was the big middle finger to how things worked.
His Siren Power was Phasebend, which allowed him to 'bend' the elements to his whims. He could control fire, water, earth, and air as easily as breathing. As he got older, he learned those four elements weren't the only things he could bend, and slowly but surely, he began mastering his powers.
Of course, being a Siren means you don't have a lot of friends growing up, besides maybe your parents. On top of that, Ben craved adventure, which is why he was on Pandora AKA the worst planet in existence full of psychos, monsters, random explosions, 400 skajillion guns, and sociopathic corporate executives.
Yeah, he was probably gonna die but hey, nobody has lived unless they've died a little, am I right?
Ed, Edd (or Double-D as he preferred to be called), and Eddy were a trio of best friends living in a humble little Cul-De-Sac on Eden-5. They had all the necessities of life, a lovely town called Peach Creek, a candy store with their favorite treat Jawbreakers, and a near-endless summer.
Every day, the boys would come up with scams to drum up some cash to buy their coveted candy but more often than not came up short. Thankfully, they always managed to seize the day and sometimes the night as well.
When they came around to their teenage years, they made a new friend named Gaige, a techno-geek who could rival even the brainy Double-D and his mechanical inventions. She officially became the 'Female Ed' of their gang and with her, all new adventures were to be had.
Gaige also had a fascination with Pandora, the Vaults, and Eridium, which also caught the Eds' attention as well. Eddy, being the big schemer he was, cooked up ideas for how they could become Vault Hunters and strike it rich, though Double-D, being the most sensible of his friends, tried to dissuade them due to how dangerous Pandora was.
Then one day, everything changed. Gaige had submitted an invention she called the Mechanized Anti-Bully Deterrent Test to the school science fair to combat bullying with Double-D contributing. Of course, he had to draw some lines when Gaige amputated her left arm with a particle saw and replaced it with an admittedly sweet-looking robot one.
Unfortunately, Gaige's arch-nemesis, Marcie Holloway, had stolen her idea and her wealthy father bribed the judges to have her place first. A fight broke out between the two girls and Gaige's invention moved to defend her, causing Marcie to quite literally pop like a zit and it wasn't quick either, the bitch stretched, bloated, and swelled while screaming like a harpy and crying for daddy before bursting like a blood-filled water balloon.
Understandably traumatized and knowing Eden-5's crooked police force would be on her ass, Gaige hightailed it on the first shuttle to Pandroa but she wasn't alone. The Eds had gone with her, along with another of their friends from Peach Creek, Rolf, a humble farm boy with very strange customs who moved to Eden-5 from another planet when he was little.
Now, it was just these five amigos against the universe as Gaige and Eddy figured they could take this opportunity to explore Pandora and uncover its secrets...and hopefully become badass Vault Hunters as well.
Yeah, they were screwed...
Mann Co., a mercenary company that had been hired for all sorts of gigs across the galaxy. They always got the job done for the right price and the nine most talented members of the company were the top professionals in their fields.
They had abandoned their old names when they took up their jobs and now went by their classes. There was the speedy Scout, the stalwart Soldier, the deranged Pyro, the bombastic Demoman, the fearsome Heavy Weapons Guy, the ingenious Engineer, the clinically insane Medic, the composed Sniper, and the deceptive Spy.
However, Mann Co. was no more. After a lengthy war against an army of killer robots, the nine mercenaries had found themselves out of a job. Unable to leave each other behind after so long of sticking together, they had opted to do the next best thing anybody could do; go to Pandora.
Were they going to die? Probably, but at least they were willing to go out in a blaze of glory together as a team one last time...
And that's the stories of all these heroes who will be joining the six Vault Hunters you all probably already know about. Will they have the skills to survive the cruel and unforgiving world of Pandora? Probably not, but at least they're gonna have fun while doing it!
Yeah, this is going to be so much fun.
This is just the Prologue to warm you all up and get to know our heroes. As you can see, we have an OC, Ed Edd n Eddy (plus Rolf) and Team Fortress 2 all mixed together in this piece. Since Borderlands 2 has so many side missions and all that, I figure it could help divide up the task force to cover all the bases. Hope you all look forward to whatever crazy shit comes in the future!
