/…../ this is The pharaoh's inner thoughts. This is so you guys won't get confused. Alright one with the story.
Present day Manhattan, New York
It was another breezy evening in Manhattan. Elisa Maza happily sighed as she put the finishing touches on a gift.
'I hope the boys appreciate this.' Making sure the gift was wrap nice and tight, Elisa placed it next to the other gifts in front of her. As she looked over the large gifts, she knew her friends, the gargoyles would be more than appreciative about it.
'After all, it's what everyone going crazy for.' Elisa wasn't surprised that her friends who were obsessed with the latest trend, especially the three youngest gargoyles. After learning about the gargoyles' newest obsession, Elisa had the perfect gift for them. It was something everyone was dying to have. Well, those who were obsessed with the game of course. Just as she put the last bow on, the doorbell rang.
"Coming." Elisa asked Matt to come by her place before heading to see the gargoyles.
"Hey Matt."
"Hey yourself." Matt enter the apartment, "So, did you catch the PX Duel Tournament finals this afternoon?"
"Sorry Matt." She apologized. "I'm not into the latest game trend. What was it called again drooling monster."
Matt chuckled, "It's Duel Monster."
Elisa rolled her eyes, "Whatever, like I said I'm not into it."
"Well, you should." Matt said, "It awesome and no surprise who won the tournament. Probably one the best duels to date. Well except of the one that Yugi kid. Can you believe he's won ever tournament for the past four years?! And the kid only 18!"
"17, his birthday's in a few months."
This took Matt by surprise, "How did you know that?"
"They did a special new report on him a while go. I watch it with Goliath."
A huge grin appears in Matt's face, "Together huh? Was it a date?"
Elisa playfully glares at him, "No, it was nothing. He was just curious about duel monsters and why the guys were so into it."
"Right, of course." Matt gave her a knowing look.
"Think what you want, but it wasn't a date." Elisa said, though deep down she wished it was. For some time, Elisa has developed feeling for the clan leader Goliath. They had been through so much it was no surprise that love blossomed between the two. Although, the feelings were there, acting upon those feelings remain unchanged.
'Maybe, one day.' She thought.
"I can't wait for the guys to see the finals." Matt said, "It was nice of Xanatos to record it for them."
"Just make sure you don't spill the beans too early. Remember what happened last time."
Matt cringed remembering the last time they watched a Duel Monsters tournament together. He accidentally let it slip on who one. The three youngest gargoyles were very upset, so much so that they didn't let him play duel monsters for a week.
"I learned my lesson. But trust me, this duel is so important, I can't spoil it for them."
"Good." Elisa picks up one of the gifts, "Thanks again for helping. I don't think I would've been able to carry all the gift by myself."
"No problem." Matt gladly took two of the gifts in his arms.
"Whoa, what exactly did you get them?" Matt curiosity got the better of him and began to shake the gifts.
"Matt, stop that." Elisa said, "It took me forever to wrap them and I want them to stay as perfect as possible."
Matt apologetically smiled, "Sorry, curiosity rear its ugly head."
"Well, you know what they said, Curiosity killed the cat. And will happen to you if you keep shaking the gifts."
"That may be true, but you know what else they say, Satisfaction brought it back." Matt slyly grin at Elisa's direction. She playfully glare at her friend.
"Whatever, come on the guys will be waking up soon and I don't want to miss that." Making sure the gifts were secured they made their way out of the apartment. Just as Elisa was about to lock her apartment, she remembers something important.
"Oh, shoot I almost forgot. Give me a sec, Matt." Elisa places the gifts on the ground and quickly made her way back inside. She rush to her room towards the dresser draw. There she found her jewelry box. She opened it and pulled out her locket.
"Can't forget you, now can I?" Elisa secure the locket around her neck. Once secure, she hid the locket underneath her shirt.
"Elisa don't mean to rush you, but my arms are starting to hurt!" Matt shouts from the doorway.
"Coming." Quickly closing the box Elisa made her way back to Matt. Grabbing the gifts once again, Elisa locks her apartment and made their way to the castle.
Meanwhile….
Present Day Domino City, Japan
The starry sky covers the quiet city of Domino. The sounds of cicada's flown through the streets. The clock struck midnight as 17 Yugi Muto finished packing for his trip to America.
"There all packed and ready" Yugi was excited to go to America. He, Joey, and other top duelist from around the world were invited to participate in a charity duel tournament held in Manhattan, New York. Joey was excited, mostly because according to him, 'Someone finally appreciates my dueling skills and talents.' My best friend Tea just rolled her eyes.
/You must be excited for this trip./ Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of Yugi.
"Oh, hey pharaoh. Yeah, I'm really excited. This duel charity tournament is great idea and for a great cost." /Not to mention, this is the first duel tournament with no one coming after us or causing the world to plummet into darkness./
The pharaoh chuckled at his friends' thoughts. One of the things they share besides the same body is the mind link. It allows the two to communicate mentally, "Yes, we've had our fair share of moments during our adventures together." /Though, not a day goes by I fear the danger these journeys I put you and the others./
"I understand your fear, Yami." Yugi said, "We all do, but not a day goes by that we regret joining you on those dangerous journeys. After all, it made me grow stronger. At least, I hope I've grown stronger."
"You have grown stronger, as a person and as a duelist."
Yugi smile, "Thank you, pharaoh. I will say, every encounter we've faced brought us one step closer to uncovering your memories." The pharaoh came into this world with no clue about who he was, his past or why he resides in the Millennium Puzzle. Throughout their journey, Yugi and Yami have collected essential information about the pharaohs' past, the Millennium items and their destiny together. But there were still so many questions left to be answer.
"Yes, and I'm grateful to you and the others for helping find the truth about my past but there are still so many questions still unsolved."
"Don't worry." Yugi said, "I know we'll find the answers and unlock the secrets of your past. No matter how long it takes us or how far the road will lead I'll be by your side, helping you to the end."
The pharaoh admired his best friend enthusiasm and positive outlook. Once again, a smile appeared in his face, "Thank you, Yugi.
/However, when that day comes it will also mean…. Good-bye./ Yami made sure Yugi didn't hear his inner thoughts. He didn't want to upset him. The pharaoh knew deep down the day he regains his memories, his destiny will be fulfilled, which means he would have to say goodbye to those he cares for the most.
/I hope when the time comes, Yugi and I will be strong enough to face it./
"Well, it's getting late. We best get go to bed, we don't want to be late meeting up with the other tomorrow." Yugi said.
"You're right. Sleep well, Yugi."
"You too, Yami." The pharaoh dissolve back into the Millennium puzzle. Yugi lay back onto his bed, excited for the new adventure he and his friends were about to embark, unaware that his life will change in ways he could have never imagine.
