Disclaimer: We're finally here. I'm finally gonna make the Paw Patrol X version of the Paw Patrol movie. The very thing that convinced me to rewrite the story in the first place. Before we start, one bit of advice. Reading seasons one through four is essential to getting the full understanding of Chase's struggles in this movie. Since Chase will be the Protagonist of the movie, I recommend you read them first. Along with the Liberty shorts I uploaded right before this. I hope this does well, since Chase is my favorite character out of everyone in Paw Patrol X. Now then. Let us commence!

Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.

Paw Patrol X: What Makes A Hero

Part One: Adventure City Calls

It's been three years since Wave and her friends stopped the Mer-Pups. Now, it was a typical morning in Adventure Bay. Everyone in the Paw Patrol was doing what they would normally be doing. Wave was playing with her friends or hanging out with Snow, Marshall was making bad puns and having fun with the others, and Snow was loving Wave to death, having fun with the others, or making sarcastic remarks whenever someone did something dumb. But this isn't primarily about them. This time, we're focusing on the team's main police dog: Chase.

Chase, who was now seventeen years old, was currently on patrol in Adventure Bay, walking around with a confident and upbeat smile. As he passed by Mr. Porter's fruit stand, he gave a happy greeting when paying him for an apple. "Morning Mr. Porter! I hope the fruit's selling well today."

"As well as it always does." Mr. Porter responded as Chase took the apple, waving goodbye to him as he walked off. "Enjoy yourself Chase!"

Chase gave a thumbs up to Mr. Porter while backing up, only to accidentally bump into Katie and make her boxes go flying. He caught them all successfully after noticing them, handing them to Katie after doing so. "Sorry Katie. Good luck with those animals. Not that you'll need it."

"Thanks Chase. Same to you with your patrol." Katie replied, and Chase walked off, carrying on with his patrol with a positive mindset.

Chase saw his good friend Richie Goodway practicing with his sword in his front yard of his house. He couldn't help smirking as he joked about the risk of some of his intense sword swings. "Try not to cut someone's arm off Rich!"

"Ha ha! Try pulling off these swings yourself!" Richie shot back playfully, leaving Chase to laugh a bit before taking a bite out of the apple he bought. As soon as he bit into the apple however, he was startled by the sound of a speeding car. And as soon as he looked, he saw a bunch of money flying out of it. Chase knew what this was, and as he quickly took every bite he could of his apple, Richie ran up to him and took out his Pup-Phone. "Need me to call Ryder?"

"Already (URP) on it!" Chase confirmed while burping mid sentence as he took out his own Pup-Phone. He called his car over, and then called Ryder to fill him in.

Ryder was watching a now thirteen year old wave, and a just recently turned sixteen year old Marshall, playing some kind of fighting game in the living room. Wave won as soon as Ryder got the call, and Wave was quick to pump her fist and cheer over her victory. "Yes!"

Right as Ryder got the call, he picked up, and Chase immediately explained the situation in his car. "Ryder! I just spotted a speeding car with a bunch of money flying out of it! I'm chasing them down now, and I'll take any backup you bring!"

"A high speed bank robbery?!" Wave asked out of concern, and then she hopped over the couch with Marshall and spoke to Chase through the Pup-Pad. "Don't forget about your surroundings sensors Chase! One wrong move, and you could risk hitting people as much as them!"

Marshall gave his younger sister a head rub as he reminded her of who this was. "He wouldn't do that Wave. It's Chase."

"Never hurts to get a reminder." Wave said with a shrug, and Chase showed that he already had them on, leading to a thumbs up from all three of the ones speaking to him.

"Thanks for the heads up Chase. I'll get everyone else on board to help you if need be." Ryder assured Chase, making sure to remind him to find those robbers. "No job is too big, no pup is too small!"

"Ready for action Ryder sir!" Chase assured Ryder, who hung up to focus on catching the robbers.

Ryder then pressed a button on his Pup-Pad, which showed Snow, Skye, and Zuma all on one end of their own. "Paw Patrol, to the Lookout!"

"Ryder needs us!"

Chase was shown chasing after the speeding robbers with high speed rock music playing to pick up the song Ready For Action. "Ready! For Action!" Chase caught sight of the car and smirked as he moved the Drive Stick to the appropriate level. "Ready! For! Action!"

Chase started blazing after the robbers with his car also keeping the road in mind as the vocalist started singing. "This is the life of the Paw Patrol! Each one of us is always on a roll!" The robbers spotted Chase's car behind them through the side mirror with the passenger looking back and seeing him chase after them confidently. "For me it's a life that's always fit just right."

The passenger took his gun out and started shooting at Chase, who dodged the gunshots the best he could to make them avoid the tires. "This way of life isn't always easy! Some missions make us feel queasy!" Chase pressed a button that made his windshield bulletproof, stopping the bullets from going through it. "But no matter how hard it is, we stand and fight!"

Chase looked at the audience as he made one desire of his very clear. "I sure hope Ryder has insurance on my paint job."

Chase sped up and got right behind the car, only for it to go even faster, matching his speed perfectly. "Good thing that none of us were recruited ill prepared, cause now we can stop any exaction!" Chase saw no cars on the other side of the road, gulping as he thought about what he had to do. Turning on his sirens, he changed lanes to catch up with the robbers. "I can't name a better life for me than with the Paw Patrol, so expect me to make sure I'm ready, for action!"

Chase continued to chase the car down, picking up his speaker and demanding they stop the car. "Both of you! Stop the car, now!"

"You'll have to catch us first mutt!"

"Planned on it!"

Just then, the robbers turned on some turbo boosters, which Chase instantly noticed to be made by Mayor Humdinger upon seeing his logo. He couldn't help groaning as he remembered that name. "Mayor Humdinger. Good Riddance."

Once the vocalist continued, he gave a determined look as he and the robbers drove through the forest. "This is the kind of life that makes me smile! The love you can see back by a mile!" Chase continued tailing the robbers, despite them still being a decent way ahead of them. "It helps me find the strength to never give up!"

Chase pressed a button that sent his car into motorcycle mode, helping it speed up well enough to reach the car. "Helping others is a part of my dream! It shoots through the sky like a beam!" Chase felt his stomach growl a bit, probably from speed eating that apple, but he decided to hold it in until he caught the bad guys. He even smirked as he thought about when he'll let it out. "It's something I've loved doing since I was a pup!"

Chase got next to the car again, and when the passenger aimed his gun at him, he took it and backed up a bit to hit the turbo boosters. "Gotta do what I can to help out Adventure Bay, but I don't need any special reaction!" Chase shot the turbo boosters and made them fall off by hitting the screw points, making the car stop going as fast as need be. As a result, Chase sped up to get in front of them. "All I need is knowledge that I'm doing good, just like how I make sure I'm ready, for action!"

Just then, the car did a u turn with Chase barely evading it in time after his life suddenly flashed before his eyes. After evading it, he caught his breath before punching the handle on his bike over having not seen that coming. "Darn it!" He then got back to chasing them down, calling Skye to help out in stopping them. "Skye! The robbers pulled a fast one on me! I need a spike strip in front of town, asap!"

"Already on it Chase!" Skye assured Chase, as she was currently setting one down with Snow, both of whom felt something like this could happen. Chase got back to chasing after the robbers, who noticed the spike strip after laughing at how they got away.

It was then that they tried to stop, but they were going so fast that they weren't sure they had the time. "I just try to stop Exaction! Don't need any special reaction!" Chase saw the spike strip stop the car, pumping his fist as he got ready to stop right before he hit it. "I know my friends and I are always ready, for, action!" Chase skidded right in front of the spike strip, and Skye ran up to him and let him pull her in for a kiss. "Ready! For action! Ready! For! Action!"

After the kiss ended, the crowd started cheering for the Paw Patrol, and Marshall, who arrived with Wave, and did his signature paw shake to congratulate Chase on the capture. "Nice work Chase!"

"Thanks Marshall. I couldn't have done it without you guys!" Chase responded, and after Marshall smiled, Chase then focused his attention onto the robbers. After he arrived at their car, the driver and passenger gave a sheepish grin as Chase leaned on their car door. "I think you know how fast you were going." When the driver reached for his gun, Chase let him know that wouldn't work. "Don't even think about it." His words alone made the driver stop in his tracks.

After having arrested the robbers, Chase was telling Ryder about what happened when the car took a u turn. "It felt pretty close to the day we first met. Only this time, I was able to save myself."

Ryder knew this was a big deal for Chase, even after years of therapy. He rubbed his shoulder to comfort him with a smile. "Let me know if you need to take a break after this."

"Thanks Ryder, but I single handedly took out a tank once. I can handle an illegal u turn." Chase assured Ryder, showing a sense of resolve as he walked over to the car with him. "Besides. It's not like we'll ever have to go back there anytime soon."

Chase opened the door and sat down in the driver's seat, leaving the robbers to fear what he would do as Ryder let him know what he would do. "We'll take the money back to the bank. I think they said it was in-" Chase put up his finger to let Ryder know to wait a moment, which confused Ryder as Chase rolled up his window. After he did, Chase smirked and looked back at the robbers, scrunching back as he arched his butt up and ripped...

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP

...a ripe and nasty ten second fart that unleashed a noxious green cloud of rotten apples with his butt vibrating upon release. The robbers coughed and gagged with their eyes starting to water from Chase's nasty butt blast. Ryder rolled his eyes while smiling before then finishing what he was telling Chase. "Calm-Ten. We'll meet you at the station." Chase gave a thumbs up before driving off, and one of the robbers even complained about his diet. Ryder started thinking about Chase's old home. He couldn't believe it's been almost sixteen years since they met.

Elsewhere, in a lively looking city, a Long Haired Dachshund about Wave and Snow's age named Liberty was listening to music while taking the subway. One of the people in her car, a super buff guy, threw the paper to his food over his shoulder. It reached Liberty, and she took her headphones off and checked to see what it was. She instantly figured out what happened and politely addressed the buff guy. "Um, excuse me." She moved the paper over to him slightly. "You dropped something."

"I'm done with it." The buff guy informed Liberty rudely, clearly not getting the point of what she was saying. "Buzz off wiener dog."

"Wiener dog?" Liberty didn't take kindly to that insult. Some insults damaged her spirit, and some just made her angry. This one did the latter. Despite this, she kept her cool and clarified what she wanted the buff guy to do. "Maybe you should just pick that up and put it in the trash."

The buff guy laughed a bit before getting all tough as if he was about to hurt Liberty. That was when the other patrons started to notice. "Or what?"

"Or, I'm going to pick you up, and put YOU in the trash!" Liberty suggested, giving a face that showed she wasn't someone you wanted to mess with. "Hmph!"

The other patrons all watched in intrigue, and the buff guy was instantly frightened by Liberty's response. "Okay! I don't want no trouble." He picked up the trash to keep things from escalating. "I'm picking up the trash; I'm picking up the trash."

"Thank you." Liberty responded happily, always being glad to do good by her city. "We've all got to take pride in our city. Don't ever forget that!" That was when the subway stopped, and Liberty made her way off. "This is my stop. It's been a slice!" Liberty got her headphones ready before thinking to herself about how she handled that. 'I've come a long way with these metaphors.'

The buff guy saw what Liberty was trying to do and promised her that he'd remember his part. "I'm gonna turn my life around. I really am."

"Can't wait to see it dude!" Liberty exclaimed, and then she put her headphones back on, listening to her music some more as she jumped up to the escalator rail. As she slid down, her acquaintance Carmen greeted her with a wave. While the music blocked out her words, Liberty still waved to her with a smile. As she jumped off, she slid right under a guy's legs like it was nothing. She then started making her way home, taking the wagon she left behind to do so while playing with the handle.

As Liberty made her way back home, she saw what looked like the election for Adventure City's new mayor. She also heard a reporter with a super fancy hairdo reporting it as she went on over. "It's election day in Adventure City. I'm Marty Muckraker, reporting live from City Square. In a surprising twist, the leading candidate has dropped out of the race, leaving only one name on the ticket. Mayor Humdinger, who has just won by default."

Liberty cringed at the sound of Mayor Humdinger's name after all he's done. "Mayor Humdinger. Ugh. Just saying his name makes my skin crawl."

Someone then stepped right in front of Liberty, making her yelp out of surprise as she was warned. "Hold it!"

Liberty recognized him instantly alongside Ruben from yesterday, expressing immense remorse for what happened. "I'm really sorry about your hand."

"No, it's not that." Ruben informed Liberty, pointing to the sign that only allowed cats into the ceremony. "Mayor Humdinger ordered for no dogs allowed!"

Liberty raised an eyebrow and showed annoyance to this when sitting down. "Excuse me?"

"Yeah, you heard him." Ruben's partner Butch said as he walked over to them. "No dogs.

Liberty looked around and saw all the signs with Ruben addressing his preference to cats. "He's more of a cat person. Now beat it!"

"Okay, yeesh; no need to yell." Liberty told Ruben, showing that she was sensitive when it came to yelling. Once she saw he calmed down, she did too. "If those are the rules, those are the rules." Liberty walked off with Butch and Ruben arguing about which one of them did better.

"See? You gotta show these dogs you're the alpha."

"You're not the alpha. I'M the alpha."

"No, I'M the alpha!"

"No, I'M the alpha!"

As the two morons kept arguing, a woman Liberty was pretending to be the scarf of walked past them, making them settle down. The two got back to slapping each other, which gave Liberty the cue to jump down. She was more than happy for the assist. "Thanks for the lift."

"Happy to help." The human said as she petted Liberty, who then went into the crowd to get an up close look on the action.

As Liberty made her way through the crowd, Mayor Humdinger began speaking into the microphone. "Please welcome to the stage, a man who needs no introduction!" Liberty saw Mayor Humdinger under the stage, getting ready to enter in his own way. "He's literally the greatest human being on the planet! He's, MEEEEEE!" Rock music started playing, and while it startled Liberty for a bit and made her start to feel overstimulated, she managed to calm herself down quickly enough, since it wasn't too loud. Just in time for when the fog covered the stage.

It was actually fire extinguisher foam, but that's besides the point. Thankfully, Liberty was able to avoid coughing like the humans, due to her height. Mayor Humdinger then pulled a lever and made himself rise up to the stage. His six cats joined them too. They had the fur coats of Wave, Marshall, Snow, Chase, Zuma, Rocky, Skye, Everest, and Rubble. It impressed Liberty, since she was a big fan of the Paw Patrol.

The music ended just before Humdinger thanked the audience. "Thank you, thank you!" Someone in the crowd clapped slowly before Mayor Humdinger continued. "I'd like to start by thanking each and every one of you for choosing me to be your new mayor!"

"You were the only name left on the ballot!" One woman reminded Humdinger, who looked at her once she did.

"You could only vote for one name anyway, so what does it matter?" Mayor Humdinger asked while ending with a foot stamp, and then one of his kittens purred to be petted, which he did. Just the sight of it got to Liberty when she saw it. Not because it was Humdinger, but because she never had a home where she was loved and understood like that. Sure the townspeople liked her, but she was scared of scaring people away after potentially making any of those connections something special. So she kept interactions as brief as she had to, while still being friendly.

Mayor Humdinger got back to announcing his decrees, starting with boasting about his winning of the election. "I won this election fair and square!" He then smirked to his kittens as he whispered. "Well, maybe not fair, but who's keeping track?" The kittens snickered as Mayor Humdinger then had a model of Adventure City brought out for him to demonstrate what he would do. "Ya know, they call this place 'Adventure' City, but what's so adventurous about it? The truth is, it's boring!"

That started to make Liberty mad. She never had it with someone trying to insult her city. Humdinger wasn't done however. "Libraries? Boring!" One of the kittens pushed over the library, which shocked the crowd. "Museums? Bo-ring!" Another kitten pushed over the museum, shocking them again. "Cute little dog parks?" Some of the people gushed over the park, only for Mayor Humdinger to toss it away himself. "Ugh. Definitely boring!" That one shocked them the most, and Liberty was startled when the dog park box crashed near her and broke.

Liberty hated where this was going, especially when Mayor Humdinger continued speaking. "But don't worry. I'm going to put the adventure back in Adventure City!" He flicked the tip of a skyscraper before he kept going. "When I'm done with this place, you won't even recognize it!"

Liberty hated the sound of that, and felt the urge to speak up. Since she had poor impulse control, she gave into her passion and called Mayor Humdinger out. "Dude; that sounds awful!" The crowd looked down at Liberty, and Mayor Humdinger's expression made it clear he didn't like her company. "The dog park alone attracts half of our citizens; human, and dog!"

Mayor Humdinger walked up to Liberty, having heard quite a bit about her. "Ah, I know you. You're the homeless dog who walks around the city and thinks she owns the place."

"Okay, I don't think I 'own the place.' I just watch over it." Liberty clarified, requesting to jump on stage, and he allowed her to do so, so she could make her plea. Once she did, she started talking about how great Adventure City was. "The adventure in Adventure City doesn't come from roller coasters or fireworks." Mayor Humdinger rolled his eyes as Liberty continued. "It comes from the history we choose to share, the friends we make, and all the stuff that makes it feel natural. If you take all of that away, then you're taking the joy out of the city."

"Riiiiight." Mayor Humdinger responded sarcastically, clearly not taking Liberty seriously as he knelt down to her and spoke to what he saw as her level. "So you tell me how a Mayor should be threatened..."

"I wasn't-"

Mayor Humdinger shoved the microphone into her face, making her uncomfortable as he finished his words. "by a smelly orphan dog who lives on the streets?" The crowd was shocked by what Mayor Humdinger said, and Liberty pushed the microphone away. Her face showed just how much Mayor Humdinger's words cut into her. "Well? I'm waiting."

Liberty couldn't think of anything to say, instead resorting to the first thing that came to your mind. "You know what? Screw you! I'd rather be an orphan than a fat clown with an ugly mustache, a cat squad of Paw Patrol wannabees who make people forget that cats rock too, and has such a small one track mind that he thinks adventure means amusement park rides and perfect weather!"

Liberty ran off after that, and Mayor Humdinger ignored her tearing up and called out to her. "You're lucky I don't have you thrown in the pound for that you impulsive, weirdo mutt!"

Liberty blew a raspberry at Mayor Humdinger before she kept running off, wiping the tears from her eyes before trying to think of a way to save her city. "I can deal with cat people, but I won't let that obnoxious nut bar ruin Adventure City." She kept moving forward as she made it clear what she was going to do. "He's not gonna take what makes this place the beauty that it is, or MY name isn't Liberty... whatever my last name is!" Liberty then, by pure coincidence, saw a phone lying on the ground. She knew it could be wrong, but she got an idea.

The idea was enhanced when she looked ahead and saw the big tower with the Paw Patrol logo on it. She hoped she realized what that building being here meant for her city.

Back at the Paw Patrol lookout, Skye and Snow were shaking paws after Skye won a Pup-Pup Boogie game that everyone watched, as Chase came up the elevator with a box. He went over to Skye and handed it to her, allowing Snow to head back over to Wave as she winked to Chase. Skye was surprised by the gift. "Chase! Our anniversary isn't until next month."

Skye opened up the box and saw some dog sized bunny slippers in her size. She absolutely loved them, and Chase explained why he got them early. "Today was the last day these were on sale, and no one else bought them. So I thought you'd like them now."

Skye hugged Chase instantly, kissing his cheek right before thanking him for the gift. "Thank you so much Chase! You're the greatest!" Chase wrapped his free arm around Skye, glad to have such an amazing girlfriend.

Just then, the Paw Patrol got a call on the big screen, prompting Ryder to run over, making sure not to step on anyone's tail or paw, and pressed the button to answer the call. It was none other than Liberty, who despite her situation, couldn't help grinning as Ryder began the conversation. "Paw Patrol. What's your emergency."

"What!? You answer your own calls!?" Liberty asked excitedly, unable to contain herself as she started geeking out in front of the Paw Patrol. "Oh my god; I'm talking to the leader of the Paw Patrol! And your whole team is there too! Oh, this is off the leash!"

Snow couldn't help herself when giving a sly grin to Wave about Liberty's vibe. "Gee, I wonder who this pup reminds me of."

Wave snickered a bit as Ryder then addressed the fact that Liberty called them. "Is there, something, we can help you with?"

Liberty composed herself as she informed the Paw Patrol about her situation. "Yes. My name is Liberty, and I'm calling from Adventure City." Chase gained a sudden look of horror upon the mention of that name. "Something terrible has-" Once Liberty noticed along with Skye and Marshall, who were closest to her, she showed concern and spoke immediately. "Are you okay?"

Chase realized Liberty was talking to him and composed himself to let her continue. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry."

Even though Chase was lying, Liberty kept going with her report. "Well, okay. Anyway, something terrible has happened. Humdinger, was just elected mayor!"

"Humdinger!?"

That name shocked all of them, and Ryder showed disdain towards him after hearing his name again. "He's the worst Mayor in the history of Mayors!"

"And that's being generous." Rubble chimed in, and then he beamed when he realized something else. "Ooh! Are you asking us to come over there? If so, his mishaps would be perfect for me to test out my new rig on!"

"Weird thing to wish for, but that's the kind of spirit I was hoping for." Liberty chimed in, and Rubble grinned proudly as Liberty requested the Paw Patrol's help. "Please, we need your help. Come quickly!" Liberty then tried to turn the phone off, and once she thought she did, she started gushing about the fact that she just spoke to the Paw Patrol. "Oh my god; I can't believe I just spoke to the Paw Patrol! And they're coming here!" The others couldn't help laughing, and Wave walked up to the front as Liberty noticed he was in the call. "Oh. Did I not...?"

"It's the red button down the middle on the bottom." Wave explained, pointing to the bottom of the screen to help her.

Liberty looked at the button and expressed thanks for the tip. "Ah, okay. Thanks. And, sorry. I've never used a phone before."

Liberty hung up for real after that, and Wave turned around and made her opinion on Liberty clear. "I like her already!"

Charm, the only pup in the Lookout who wasn't an official member, made it clear he was coming. "I hope you don't intend on leaving me out of any potential arenas."

"Not a chance Charm. Humdinger isn't as dangerous as Slash and Miranda, but we still need all the help we can get." Ryder assured Charm, who gave a thumbs up to show he'd be there. Ryder knew this would be hard for Chase, but he couldn't leave Adventure City hanging. "Adventure City's in trouble. Come on pups, pack your things. No city's too big, no pup's too small!" Despite Ryder managing to pump the others up, Chase turned around and went for the elevator. This didn't go unnoticed, especially once Ryder spoke to get his attention. "Chase?"

"I'm not going." Chase stated, going into the elevator and turning around to press the button.

"We have to go. Adventure City needs us." Ryder insisted, reminding Chase of their duty as the Paw Patrol.

"Then I'm sorry to disappoint." Chase said with a hint of regret. Despite that, he stood true to his word. "I'm never going back to Adventure City."

The elevator closed, and Chase descended down it once it did. Marshall recalled a specific time moment from when he was getting over his anxiety. The moment Chase told him about his past. "Is Adventure City the place you saved him from?"

Ryder wasn't surprised Marshall knew about that. And also that this was the moment he learned the specifics. "Yeah. His next birthday marks sixteen years since then."

Skye walked up to Marshall, curious about how she and Marshall were the only pups who knew. "He told you too?"

"Yeah. It was when we went to Prison City to save Everest." Marshall explained, sharing what he knew to the other pups. "He told me... his owners abandoned him, and that he spent a month on his own, living on the streets and barely surviving."

"I bet he also told you how I saved him from an oncoming truck." Ryder chimed in, and Marshall nodded his head yes. Ryder continued explaining Chase's past the best he knew how. "The city can be a scary place when you're all alone. And I saw a lot of potential in Chase. So for those reasons, I took him in, and brought him back to Adventure Bay."

Charm looked to Rocky, who saw his confusion on how the others didn't know about this. "Chase never liked talking about his time before meeting Ryder. Anytime one of us, except for Ryder, Skye, and Marshall, I guess, brought it up, he'd refuse to talk."

Charm looked to Marshall as he realized something ironic about the time they spoke. "So your infiltration to my base led to him opening up to you?"

"Yeah. It's what helped me finally become the hero I wanted to be." Marshall added with a proud smile.

Charm gave a sly grin to Snow and Everest as he pointed out something else about this. "Well now. I suppose Claw isn't the only one my former self helped out."

"And all it took was holding his loved one hostage to make it happen." Snow replied with a smirk, showing that she was now capable of playful banter with Charm.

Wave and Marshall laughed in response to that before hi pawing. Ryder decided to go ahead and check on Chase, knowing he'd be the best one to do so. "I'm gonna go talk to Chase. The rest of you get ready." Ryder then went down the elevator after entering, leaving the rest of the pups to hope he'd be okay.

Chase was sitting by himself outside by a nearby tree as Ryder walked up to him from behind. "Chase?" Chase's ear perked up, and he saw that Ryder wanted to help him with what he was feeling. He always did. "Let's talk about this."

Chase's expression showed how scared he was just by thinking about Adventure City. "My skin still crawls just by thinking about Adventure City's name. I can't go back Ryder."

"I know it was tough. It would be for anyone in your position." Ryder said, attempting to emphasize with Chase's pain. "But that was a long time ago. You've gotten so much stronger since then."

Chase sighed, wishing he could believe how true that was. "I wish that made me feel better. But if the name alone makes my fear flood back, then being in the city will just show everyone that I'm still that scared little puppy. And not the hero they think I am."

Ryder started walking over to Chase, and during his attempt to comfort him, he sat on the tree branch he was sitting by. "I promise it won't be like it was when you were little. Everything will be fine." He then reminded Chase of what the Paw Patrol was about, and why he loved being a part of it in the first place. "Come on Chase, those people need our help. We're the Paw Patrol; this is what we do."

The thought of helping others alone was always enough to bring a smile to Chase's face. This was no exception. "It is what we do."

"And we'll be doing just that in Adventure City. For ourselves, and for each other." Ryder assured Chase with a confident smile. "Trust me."

Chase looked at Ryder and saw how genuine he was. He was still scared, but if he could trust anyone about this, it was Ryder. And after taking time to reflect, he figured that he would have to do this at some point anyway. Now was probably as good of a time as any. "Okay. I trust you."

"In that case, can I get a yelp?" Ryder asked to pump Chase up, and he let out a small one in response. But Ryder knew he could do better. He stood with Chase putting his front paws on the branch and wagging his tail as Ryder pumped him up again. "Come on. You can do better than that." Chase let out an even better howl after that, and he ran off with Ryder to prepare for the mission. "Atta boy! Let's get to work!"

On the balcony, Skye and Marshall were watching Chase and Ryder. The two looked at each other and nodded, being ready to help Chase as much as they had to. Wave also popped up in between them, nodding to both of them to show that she'd help too. They both smiled gratefully and rubbed Wave's head affectionately in response.

Zuma came out onto the balcony with his guitar to share an idea he had with Wave, Marshall, and Skye. "Dudes! I stawted wowking on this song to help Chase with his Adventuwe City scaws!" Wave, Marshall, and Skye were surprised by how fast this happened. Zuma then grinned sheepishly before admitting to how long he's had it for. "Well... I've actually had it for a while, to help with MY scaws. But it would be pewfect for Chase too. You guys wanna hear it before we go?"

Wave, Marshall, and Skye looked to each other with smiles before Wave let Zuma know what they had to do. "Okay, but we have to keep this from Chase until we set off."

"Planned on it Wave dude!" Zuma assured the three, and they all then headed inside as Zuma started playing a somewhat upbeat melody on his guitar to set the stage. "Not your twaditional thewapy song, but that shouldn't be an issue." And knowing Zuma, the music he played would always manage to set the mood he planned for.
