"You never stop to think, do you?" Ianto glared at Jack as he helped his lover to sit up. All trace of the deep wound in his chest that had killed him was gone, except for the bloodstains and the shredded shirt.

"Of course I think. I do it all the time," Jack protested, looking confused. He was never at his intellectual best immediately post-death and resurrection; it took a few minutes for his brain to start working properly.

"But you don't think about ways to deal with a situation that don't involve you throwing yourself headlong into danger and getting killed, or at least seriously injured. It's like you enjoy sacrificing your life! We could've just shot that Weevil, had to do it anyway, but no, you just couldn't resist jumping in there and wrestling with it, and what did that get you?" Ianto gestured at the remnants of Jack's shirt and the unblemished skin showing through the tears. "It ripped your heart out!"

"It was about to kill those girls; I had to save them!"

"And one bullet through its head would have done the job just as effectively!" Ianto snapped. "God preserve us from your hero complex!"
