Ianto hated getting injured, and not just because of the pain, although that was obviously something he'd rather do without. No, the worst part was the sheer helplessness, being unable to do his job, having to stay home, and the fact that his impaired mobility made even the simplest of everyday tasks almost beyond him.
Here he was, sitting on the sofa with his broken ankle on the footstool, his toes poking from the end of the cast and getting cold, and he couldn't even get up to fetch something to cover them. Just taking himself to the bathroom was a major expedition requiring a lot of planning ahead, because it wasn't just his ankle that was damaged. He had a fractured collarbone and cracked ribs as well.
Just as Ianto was feeling his gloomiest, Jack breezed into the room. "Here you go, I've made you a nice mug of hot chocolate, and I've dug out this for your foot. I think it should be big enough!" Jack brandished a quilted Christmas stocking decorated with snowmen.
"That's for putting presents in!" Ianto objected.
"And now it's a footwarmer." Jack grinned. "You might say I'm waiting on you hand and foot."
