Jack was dead, which to be fair, wasn't exactly unheard of. He got himself killed with alarming regularity; a week seldom went by without him ending up dead at least once.

This time, however, his being dead was a bit inconvenient. On the bright side, it hadn't been a particularly messy death, he didn't have any bits missing, and there wasn't much blood. But dead was dead, they were in public, and Ianto was out of Retcon, having used it all earlier.

"Hey, is that guy okay?"

Ianto turned to see two rather inebriated young women approaching along the pavement, holding on to each other for support as they tottered on unfeasibly high heels.

"He's fine. Had a little too much to drink and passed out, that's all." Ianto whipped his coat off and used it to quickly cover Jack, hiding the already healing wounds. "Just waiting for a friend with a car to pick us up." Which was true enough; Owen was on his way with the SUV.

"He doesn't look too good." One woman peered myopically at Jack.

"Well, he never could hold his drink."

"My cousin's like that." Laughing, the women tottered away.

Ianto relaxed; disaster averted.
