It was a peaceful night in Rakke Town, but unbeknownst to everyone, flames were corrupting from inside the fissure.
The next morning, the Riders gathered in the Lair for their morning meeting, except D'Angelo, who was running late.
"You guys, I'm almost done with my Buzzsaw Board," said Alex. "I've input all the sensor data and created an algorithm to analyse Buzzsaw's movement in the Dragon Realms. This can be used to predict his next…"She then noticed that Eugene was more focused on taking photos of himself. "Did you hear a word I just said?"
"Was it about my hair?" Eugene asked. "If so, say it again because my hair game is on point today!"
Alex groaned and turned to James, who was sitting in a corner reading his ancestor's memoirs.
"What about you, James?" she asked.
James looked up from his book. "What was that?"
"Never mind," Alex groaned and turned to Tom and Jun, sitting in their little corner. "Do you to care about…"
Sadly, the two weren't paying attention and were more focused on their conversation.
"So Midgard is the world of humans," said Jun. "Is that the surface?"
I'm not sure," said Tom. "Hiccup's family…"
"Okay, I guess nobody cares," Alex grumbled.
Feathers then nuzzled her to cheer her up.
"Take it easy, Alex," said Tom. "The meeting hasn't even started yet. We're still waiting on…"
"Sorry we're late," said D'Angelo as he arrived at the back of Plowhorn.
"Again?" Eugene grumbled.
"You're one to talk, Eugene," said Jun.
"Hey, handsome like this is ready when handsome like this is ready!" he said, then clicked his tongue and pistol-fingered them.
"I had an emergency," said D'Angelo as he dismounted Plowhorn. "A group of Terrible Terrors have an allergic reaction to some bushes in Rakke Town. They were itching like crazy!"
"Snore!" said Eugene. "Wake me when he's done telling his itchy dragon story."
"It's not nap time, Eugene!" said Tom. "Let's get this meeting started."
"So, now it's time to talk to us, when you're ready?" Alex muttered.
"Gonzo's right," said Eugene. "You and my little sister have had your head in that book all morning."
"Excuse me," Tom glared. "The dragon realms…" Eugene then blew a raspberry, but Tom continued regardless. "The Dragon realms being the inspiration for the Nine Realms…" Eugene then blew a raspberry. "Quit it, Eugene! Norse mythology's relationship to the realms is really important!"
"More important than the six dragons in my hospital?" said D'Angelo.
"Or more important than me tracking Buzzsaw?" Alex asked.
"Yes!" said Tom and quickly shook his head. "I mean, no! No, I don't…"
Eugene then blew a raspberry.
"Reading about the past can be beneficial for the future," said James, holding out his ancestor's book. "Ever since we lost the Dragon Book, my ancestor's memoirs have been our only source of information regarding the different sorts of dragons we could encounter."
"The problem is everyone is focused on themselves and what they want," said Jun.
"Jun's not wrong," said D'Angelo.
"So it's a good thing I know just what we need," she said. "A tarot card reading!"
Everyone immediately groaned as she pulled out her cards.
"Come on!" she said. "Right now, we're acting like Wu and Wei. We can't agree on anything." She then looked at the two-headed dragon. "No offence, you two."
Wu and Wei grunted, saying none was taken.
"Rather than going in for six different directions at once, it'll show us a non-biased direction on where we need to focus on as a team," said Jun.
Eugene then blew another raspberry.
"Fine," said Alex.
When they agreed, everyone sat around Jun, and she placed three cards from her deck in front of her.
"Okay," she said. "Now, just relax and let your energy do all the work." She then calmly turned the first card. "Ooh, the Eight of Cups." She then moved on to the second card. "Hmm, the Five of Coins." She then turned the final card and gasped. "The Tower."
"What's the matter?" Tom asked.
"Yeah, what do they mean?" D'Angelo asked.
"Pretty sure the five of coins means and everyone owes me money," said Eugene and looked at everyone accusingly. "Pay up deadbeats!"
"If I'm reading these correctly, they all point to our team… breaking up," she said.
Eugene scoffed.
"No way!" said D'Angelo.
"That's ridiculous," said Alex.
"Can't happen," said James.
Thunder whimpered, slightly concerned.
Tom then rubbed his head, assuring. "Don't worry, Pal. They're just a bunch of silly cards. They don't mean anything."
"They're not silly cards, Tom," said Jun. "the Five of Coins points to signs that we're headed for some kind of… ailment."
"Likely, we're going to be sick?" D'Angelo frowned.
"That's unclear, but getting sick is a sign to watch out for. The Eight of Cups indicates that we're walking in different directions, like splitting up. And the Tower…" She then picked up the card. "…this warns that everything is going to fall apart. It could mean the team will break up."
"The Riders breaking up?" said Tom questionably. "That's a stretch. D and I, buds. Sure, maybe you spent a little too much time at the hospital lately, but whatever, I support him."
D'Angelo frowned at him.
"And I like everybody," said Alex. "And I don't usually like people! Even Eugene."
"You know it, Gonzo," said Eugene. "And me and D, or Eugangelo, which we might call each other one day, are super tight! In fact, we probably get along even better than you and Kullersen."
"Let's just stick with that. We all get along equally, right?" Tom asked.
"Oh sure," said D'Angelo as he rose to his feet and marched up to Tom. "Since you support me spending so much time at the hospital."
"I…" said Tom, backing away from him.
"Massively awkward," said Alex.
"This is why I'm glad Gonzo and I are also super tight," said Eugene.
"Really?" said D'Angelo, turning on him. "Alex, we've been friends longer than you've ever known Eugene!"
"D, don't listen to him," said Tom, placing a hand on his shoulder.
D'Angelo then swiped his hand away. "Don't tell me what to do! I can listen to whomever I want."
"Oh, yeah?" said Tom.
"Yeah!"
"Double 'oh, yeah!'" said Eugene and high-fived Webmaster.
"You do realise we are arguing about how well we all get along?" Alex pointed out.
"Alex is right," said Jun. "And the cards are right, too."
"Then maybe the best thing is not to worry about it so much," said James.
Jun stared at him. "How can you say that? You want us to fall apart?"
"No, that's the last thing I want," said James. "However, from my understanding of prophecies, trying to prevent them from coming true always has the opposite result. If we try to force on this issue, we might end up being more divided than we are now."
They were then suddenly interrupted when D'Angelo's phone buzzed.
"Uh-oh," he said answering his phone. "My dad says that there's a situation. He wants us topsite ASAP!"
They then quickly rushed over to their dragons.
"Thank goodness for a tension breaker," said Alex as she looked at Feathers.
The Riders soon mounted their dragons and began flying through the fissure.
"Funny about the cards same, we're going to break up," said Eugene to Tom.
"I'm not worried about it," said Tom. "It's silly."
"Oh, good. Cos I was thinking, you know, Jun says the tarot cards can have different meanings. What if the breakup the cards are predicting isn't the team but actually you and Jun?"
Tom was worried for a second but shook his head. "Nah, that's dumb!"
"Yeah, I'm sure you're right," Eugene shrugged. "I'm just being… dumb."
"You usually are," said James, narrowing his eyes.
Eugene gave him an awkward smile and then flew ahead.
James looked at Tom. "Don't listen to Eugene. He doesn't know what he's talking about."
James flew ahead, but Tom couldn't help but worry, and Jun flew alongside him.
"You good?" she asked.
"Yeah, great," Tom smiled. "Nothing wrong over here. We are so good."
Jun frowned and then flew ahead.
Tom looked down at Thunder. "We're still good, right?"
Philip was currently with Hobs standing in front of the effigy of rubber eels, which they were using to frighten off the dragons and were currently ripped to shreds. He then turned around just as the Riders arrived and landed.
"Hobs spotted this," he said, looking at them. "Anyone care to explain?"
"You think we did this?" Jun frowned.
"Not Feathers," said Alex.
"Or me!" said Eugene. "Or Webs! Maybe it was Hobs. Whoever smelt it, dealt it."
Hobs growled at him, and Eugene quickly backed away.
"I mean, no way was Hobs!" he said quickly. "I'm sure it was just Thunder."
"A breach like this could allow a dragon to escape town and jeopardise our little secret," said Philip.
Thunder looked down at the rubber eels and quickly backed away from them fearfully.
"Our dragons didn't do this, Chief," said Tom, stroking Thunder to calm him down.
"Yeah, Pop," said D'Angelo, picking up one of the eels. "They're afraid to go near the fake eels."
"Well, I want this fixed," said Philip. He then mounted his quad bike. "And figure out who or what did it before a dragon escapes."
He then drove off with Hobs, who snarled at them.
"I'm not playing up anything," said Eugene. "Not my mess, not my problem."
"It's all our problems, Eugene," said Jun.
D'Angelo then bent down and looked at the fake eels. "Looks like whatever did it went that way."
Tom then examined one of the eels and saw that it had been chewed. "And this fake eel. It's been… chewed?"
The dragons growled nervously.
"I suppose it could have been a wild animal that is like a wolf or something," said James.
"Whatever is responsible, we need to find them," said D'Angelo as he approached Plowhorn. "Let's split up for some aerial recon."
"Wait, no!" said Jun. "Don't you remember what the cards said? Splitting up is a bad idea."
"the cards didn't say that," said Alex. "You said that. You could be interpreting it the wrong way."
"I don't think I am," she said.
"If a dragon is out there, we need to find it fast," said Tom.
"Hmm… Agree with Kullersen, or disagree with Jun?" Eugene pondered. "What to do?"
"We should use this opportunity to work together and reconnect as a team," said Jun. "It'll be fun! Like a big group bonding exercise. Do you want to risk breaking up?"
"Oh, uh…" said Tom, looking at Eugene before looking back at her. "I didn't think of it that way. I guess… you're right. We should go together."
"What?" D'Angelo frowned. "Tom, our best option is clearly to split up."
"Our best chance to remain a team is to stick together," said Jun. "And that benefits all dragons in the long run!"
"I don't know, Jun," said James. "I'm more inclined to agree with D'Angelo; this is a mission that we need to complete as quickly as possible. Plus, trying to force us to bond is not really a productive bonding exercise; it could very well split our team even more."
"James, the original Dragon Riders, never had this problem; all of them had different personalities, and they were able to work together by sticking together," said Jun. "We need to do the same."
Everyone looked at Tom.
"Uh, what she said," he said.
"Oh, boy," said Alex.
Once that was agreed upon, they began tracking whatever ate the fake eels, with Plowhorn taking the lead. She was able to pick up the scent but then came to a stop at some scorch marks.
"Plow's got something!" said D'Angelo.
"Look at the scorch marks," said Tom.
"And look at this," said Jun, noticing a fake eel on the ground. "Another chewed-up fake eel. It can't be a dragon, right?"
"You make an excellent point, Jun," Tom smiled. "Yep! Doesn't she make a great point?"
"Um, thanks?" Jun frowned.
"Can we stop worrying about Jun's point and figure out what we're looking for?" Alex asked.
James bent down, examining the scorch marks. "But what could have created the scorch marks if not a dragon? I swear I recognise these scorch marks from somewhere."
Webmaster then snarled as he discovered another fake feel on the ground.
"Don't be a wimp," said Eugene as he picked up the fake eel. "It's fake. See?"
However, it turned out that it was an actual snake that hissed at him. He screamed as he jumped back in surprise, releasing the snake, which fell in front of the dragons. Upon seeing the snake, the dragons quickly ran away, thinking it was an eel.
"Seriously?" Tom groaned.
"Come on, man!" said D'Angelo.
"It's a snake, not an eel!" James yelled.
Tom sighed. "All right, now we have to wrangle our dragons. Split up and…"
"How about we stick together?" Jun suggested.
"Yes! Of course, Jun," said Tom. "Good call."
D'Angelo shook his head. "Let's go find our dragons. Thanks a lot, Eugene."
Everyone then walked away, turning their backs on Eugene.
"How was I supposed to know it was a real snake?" he asked.
He then heard a hiss and quickly ran away.
The Dragon Riders were now searching for their dragons, who had disappeared in the forest.
"Thunder!"
"Feathers!"
"Blade!"
"Thunder!" Tom yelled. "Thunder."
They then found the dragons eating some purple leaves.
"Aw," Tom smiled. "You just wanted to grab a snack, right, Pal?"
"Ah, the dragons always know best," said Alex and then glared at Eugene. "You are so lucky, Eugene!"
"Our dragons have the right idea," said Jun. "A group that snacks together stays together."
D'Angelo then examined the leaves the dragons were eating and gasped when he recognised them. "Stop! Don't eat that! Spit it out now!"
Everyone looked at him, confused.
"Why? What's the matter?" Eugene asked. "The dragons love these."
"So did all those Terrible Terrors I was treated at the hospital," said D'Angelo. "The ones that were itching like crazy because they ate the same kind of leaves!"
"Okay. Well, in my defence, I wasn't listening to you," said Eugene as he ate one of the leaves.
"These leaves irritate dragons' skin," D'Angelo explained. "It causes them to itch like crazy."
"Let's not freak out," said Jun calmly. "I mean, they don't need that much of it."
"Yeah. And maybe the leaves just affect Terrors," said Tom positively. "I'm sure Jun's right. It'll be fine."
Unfortunately, Tom was proven wrong when the dragons began scratching like crazy just a few moments later.
D'Angelo sighed at the sight and then looked at Eugene, who was also scratching himself like crazy.
"Hey, Gonzo! Gonzo!" Eugene yelled. "You think you can get in there for me?"
"Sorry," said Alex as she looked at thin air. "Hands are full."
Feathers then became visible, and Alex scratched her.
"And that's what you get for not listening," said D'Angelo.
"I only had a little taste!" Eugene yelled. "Who could have known?"
"It's happening," said Jun, horrified. "The Five of Coins. It symbolises ailments among us." She then held her tarot cards, writing D'Angelo's face. "See? The cards predicted this!"
"Is pitching really an ailment?" Eugene asked.
Jun narrowed her eyes at him. "Everything you do is."
"Regardless of whether the cards were right or wrong, this is going to slow our search down," said Tom as he approached Thunder, who was scratching his back on the ground. "The dragons can't fly like this."
"Well, I've got a tube of anti-itch cream that I was using on the Terrible Terrors," said D'Angelo, holding out the tube.
"Sweet Caroline!" said Eugene, relieved. "D, you're a genius."
"See? Solving our problems together," Jun smiled.
"Uh, Jun, I have a feeling this is a good news, bad news moment," said James.
"He's right," said D'Angelo regretfully. "I'm afraid there is only enough left for one dragon."
"Wu Wei should get it," said Jun. "They'll be able to carry more of us."
"I agree," said Tom. "Yep. Wu and Wei should get it."
Thunder growled, annoyed.
"She makes a good point, Pal," said Tom apologetically.
"No way!" Eugene yelled. "He said there's only enough for one dragon. Wei and Wu is technically two! Webs should get it. Maybe he shares it with me. Who knows? It's worth a shot."
"No offence to Webmaster, but since you caused this mess in the first place, that's out," said Tom.
Plowhorn was busy scratching her back against a tree.
"I'm sorry, girl, but there's a dragon doctor; I have to remain impartial," said D'Angelo apologetically. Then suddenly, the tube was lifted out of his hand, and everyone knew it was Feathers who gave it to Alex. "Hey! Who said you get it?"
"I don't think so!" said Eugene.
The two of them then charged at Alex in an attempt to grab the tube.
"We have to do something!" said Jun, looking at Tom and James.
The two nodded and rushed towards them as they fought over the tube.
"Hey!" Tom yelled.
"Stop this!" said James.
"Hey! Break it up!" Jun yelled.
The Riders continued fighting over the tube, but Eugene managed to pull it out of their hands. However, he then suddenly tripped, and it fell on the ground, and he fell on it, causing the ointment to be splattered all over the ground.
"No!" everyone cried.
Eugene cried as he attempted to grab what was left of the ointment over his body.
"Great," said D'Angelo as he rose to his feet. "Now, nobody gets it."
"Just perfect," said Tom.
Both Alex and James groaned.
"See? The Eight of Cups," said Jun. "it's said that we're headed for turmoil, and look at us now. We can't keep fighting. Was supposed to be finding a dragon, and instead, we're falling apart!"
"Uh, Jun, none of this would have happened if we had split up in the first place," James pointed out.
"James is right; we wouldn't be fighting if we had split up," Alex agreed.
Jun cleaned her throat impatiently.
"Right… That sort of fulfils the breakup," said Alex. "Got it."
"Now, let's stick together and support each other and find that dragon," said Jun.
Everyone got up and began making their way to their dragons, but James merely shook his head.
"This is going to end badly, I just know it," he said.
They were now forced to walk on foot, and their dragons were incapable of flying due to the unbearable itch they were all suffering from.
"You know, this would have been way easier if I had just hijacked a satellite and used that to search for whatever might be out here," said Alex.
"Isn't that illegal?" D'Angelo asked.
"Ish…" Alex shrugged.
"Gonzo's right," said Eugene. "She can search the area alone. We're tired and grumpy. The dragons are itchy."
Tom sighed. "I know we're all tired, but…"
"Here he goes again," said Eugene. "Jun's yes, man."
"Hey!" Tom glared. "We would be flying the dragons if you hadn't pulled your little prank."
"Prank?!" Eugene yelled, outraged.
"Stop it!" Jun yelled. "Can't you see this is exactly what the tarot cards said would happen?"
"Jun, enough with the tarot cards!" Eugene yelled.
"Can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Eugene," said D'Angelo.
"As do I," said James. "If we had split up like we were supposed to, then we wouldn't be at each other's throats and aimlessly walking around in this forest with itchy dragons."
Before anyone else could say anything, they heard the distant roar and saw flames erupting nearby.
"Let's go!" said Tom.
They rushed over to investigate and found the source of the flames. They were coming from a particularly large dragon with enormous wings, a long neck and curved horns on its head. They saw that it had one of the fake eels in its mouth but dropped it when they realised it was just rubber.
"Guess we know what's been eating the fake eels," said Eugene.
"Yep. It's a big dragon," said Alex.
They then watched the massive dragon spread its wings and began to take off.
"He's going," said Tom and watched as it flew away. "We got to contain it. Riders, mount up!"
Everyone nodded and immediately rushed to their dragons.
"Way to go," said Eugene, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Jun likes a guy who takes charge. Or does she?"
Tom then immediately approached Jun. "I mean, if mounting up is cool with you. You spearhead this mission, so is it cool?"
"Yeah," Jun frowned. "Thanks, Tom. You're good."
They then took to the dragon and began following it, though it was rather difficult since all the dragons were still itchy.
"We have to get ahead of it!" said Jun.
"I can't even get Feathers to fly straight!" said Alex. "Come on, girl. Fight the itch!"
The dragon then turned around, heading back towards them.
"Don't think we have to worry about getting ahead of it!" said D'Angelo.
"Alex? You think you can drive it down?" Tom asked.
"On it," Alex nodded. "Come on, Feathers. Sing him to sleep."
Feathers then unleashed a sonic blast, but he had difficulty aiming and began hitting the other Riders.
"Look out, Pal!" Tom yelled.
"Watch out, girl!" D'Angelo yelled.
Tom and D'Angelo were forced to back off, allowing the dragon to fly through them.
"Come on, team," said Jun. "Get your head in the game. Remember. We have to work together."
"You heard her, everybody!" Tom yelled. "Let's do it!"
They then turned to face back against the dragon but saw that it was simply flying around in a circle.
"What's it doing?" Eugene asked.
"It looks like it's looking for something," said Tom.
"This is our chance," said Jun. "Everybody, move in! We need to escort him back to the Hidden World."
"Don't give it anywhere to go but down!" Tom ordered.
They quickly began to surround the dragon.
"This way, big guy!" said D'Angelo. "Don't worry."
The tactic seemed to be working, as the dragon was now pinned and could go anywhere.
"Okay, Pal," said Tom, looking at Thunder. "Warning shot. Lead him back down."
Thunder then fired a lightning blast, and it shot just over the dragon.
"Go, Plow!" D'Angelo yelled.
Plowhorn then began to fire her loogie blasts at the dragon.
"Open fire, Blade!" James yelled.
Blade began firing his fire missiles in conjunction with Thunder and Plowhorn, and together, they were slowly forcing the dragon down.
The sun had now set, and by the time they got the dragon to the ground, Tom had slowly approached it.
"There was an entry in the Book of Dragons about this one type of dragon that isn't afraid of eels," said Tom. "A-A Typhoomerang! This must be it!"
"I knew I recognised those scorch marks from somewhere," said James, snapping his fingers. "They were explained in great detail in my ancestor's memoirs."
"Looks like sticking together paid off after all," said Jun.
The Typhoomerang then lowered his head towards them.
"It's okay!" Tom assured him. "We're not going to hurt you. We just need you to stay calm and follow…"
The Typhoomerang then roared loudly, and when they looked up, they saw that a second one had appeared.
"Uh-oh," said Tom.
"Look out!" D'Angelo yelled as the second Typhoomerang flew overhead.
"Of course," said Alex. "More angry dragons that want to kill us."
"Let's get out of here!" Eugene yelled.
"Thunder!" Tom yelled as they rushed to their dragons.
The second Typhoomerang unleashed its breath attack straight in front of them, barring their path to their dragons, and began to encircle them. Now, they were all standing in a ring of fire, and if that wasn't bad enough, the first Typhoomerang flew up and joined the second one.
"We can't get our dragons!" said D'Angelo.
"Well, I'm not itchy any more," said Eugene. "Hot, but not itchy."
"The Tower card was a picture of a flaming tower, right?" Alex asked, looking at Jun. "Are Tarot predictions always this literal?"
"Ah, I hate it when she's right," Eugene groaned.
"If we don't get out of here, it won't matter if she was right," said Tom.
"Come on. If we just work together we can find a way out of this," said Jun and looked at Tom. "Tom, what do you think?"
"I-I don't know, Jun," said Tom. "I don't know. We're kind of stuck without our dragons."
"And when has that ever stopped us?" James asked.
"This is it!" Eugene panicked. "We're cooked!"
Thunder roared at Wu and Wei, and Wu unleashed his ice breath, putting out the flames. Tom quickly looked up into the sky and found the Typhoomerangs were gone.
"What happened?" Tom asked.
"They left?" said Jun, confused.
"Oh! I was all prepared to go out in a blaze of glory," said Eugene.
"Maybe next time, Eugene," said Tom. "Right now, we have to figure out where they're going."
Unbeknownst to them, the Typhoomerangs were flying straight towards ICARUS.
At ICARUS Station, Philip and Pete were unloading supplies, unaware of the danger approaching them.
"Last one," said Philip as he placed the last of the boxes down. "All done for…" Then they heard a roar directly above them. "What in the world?"
They looked up into the sky and saw the Typhoomerangs flying down towards them.
"Dragons! Incoming!" Philip yelled as he and Pete ran.
The Typhoomerangs then began to circle around the town almost as if they were dancing. They then locked their talons with one another and continued to dance in the air.
The Riders, now on their dragons, who recovered from the itching, arrived in time to see this.
"What are they doing?" Eugene asked.
"They've linked talons…" said Jun.
"Are they dancing?" Tom asked.
"Of course!" said D'Angelo. "It's a courtship! Like the flight of bald eagles and red-tailed hawks. The bonding pairs soar together to the highest of heights, locking the talons, then spiralling as they plunge down to the earth."
Plowhorn gave a small growl.
"I hear you, Plow," said D'Angelo, stroking her. "This is amazing."
"Wait," said Jun, looking back at him. "Repeat that last part again."
"They spiral and plunge down to the earth?" he said.
"Right down onto Rakke Town!" said Tom, noticing the problem.
It then got worse as the Typhoomerangs began to shoot out flames; if they continued with a courtship dance, they would burn Rakke Town to the ground.
Philip was now busy evacuating everyone.
"I need everyone to evacuate immediately," he ordered through the intercom. "Dragon attack. Repeat. Dragon attack!"
The Riders then quickly landed on the ground and approached him.
"Chief!" Tom yelled.
"There you are!" said Philip, turning towards them.
"They don't mean any harm!" said Jun. "it's just a courtship ritual."
"I don't care what they're doing," said Philip. "I don't want them crashing into this facility!"
"Don't worry, Pop. We'll handle it," D'Angelo assured him.
"Hopefully!" said Alex. "Probably."
"You stop those dragons," said Philip. "We'll help with the evacuation." He then looked down at Hobs. "Come on, Hobs!" He then continued with the evacuation, trying to keep everyone calm as possible. "Everybody, keep calm. Evacuating an orderly fashion!"
"What are we going to do, Jun?" Tom asked.
"I don't know!" she said frustratingly. "Why don't you make a decision once today?"
"I was… I…"
"Why are you being so weird?" Jun demanded.
"I got it in my head that the breakup the cards were predicting was about us," Tom admitted.
"Why would you even think that?!"
Tom then turned his head towards Eugene.
"I was just looking out," he said. "Bro code."
"Since when did you start listening to Eugene?" Jun asked in disbelief. "I like the Tom, who isn't afraid to say what he thinks. And right now, I need the Tom with a plan."
The Typhoomerangs were getting dangerously close towards the town, and it looked as if they were going to stop their flaming skydive any time soon.
"It's a courtship ritual, right?" said Tom. "So, maybe if we can create a diversion for one of them, and then…"
"Tom, we don't have time for an elaborate plan!" D'Angelo interjected.
"Well, I don't hear anything better coming from you!"
"Guys, this is not the time to argue!" Jun snapped.
"Why don't you ask the tarot cards how to stop the Typhoomerangs?" Alex asked. "They know everything, right?"
"Really not a great time for your sarcasm, Alex," said Tom.
"I assume you're being sarcastic," Alex assumed.
"What really would be great right now is a way to stop those flaming dragons!" James yelled.
"That's it! I'll fix this…" said Eugene.
While they were arguing, the dragons looked at one another and knew they had to do something.
"Don't yell at Tom!" Jun snapped.
The dragons then suddenly took off, heading straight towards the Typhoomerangs.
"What are they doing?" Jun asked.
"I think they're going to save Rakke Town…" said Tom. "…without us."
The dragons flew up to the Typhoomerangs, and Thunder instructed them. Wu and Wei quickly moved in, and Wu unleashed his ice breath, putting out the flames around the Typhoomerangs and separating them. Plowhorn and Blade then swooped in, firing several shots at them to guide them away from Rakke Town.
Thunder, Feathers and Webmaster then flew in to box them to box them instantly and wouldn't be able to do anything else. The dragons then guided them towards the fissure and allowed them to continue their courtship ritual. The Typhoomerangs flew into the air, lost their talons, and spun around, unleashing their flames. They then dive down into the fissure and disappear within the smoke.
Once the danger was past, the dragons returned to the surface.
"Threat has been neutralised," said Philip over the intercom system.
Once the dragons landed, the Riders immediately stroked them, but the lingering issue was now hanging over their heads.
"That was close," said Tom.
"Too close," D'Angelo agreed.
"It worked out, though, didn't it?" Jun smiled, trying to remain positive. "The Typhoomerangs are together, Rakke Town is safe, we kept the dragon secret from the outside world, and we stay together. Right?"
"Let's face it, we weren't at our best today," said Alex. "All we did was argue."
"Alex is right," Tom agreed. "We got lucky. If it weren't for our dragons, this would have been a disaster. We completely fell apart."
"We're not the Dragon Rider team we used to be," said D'Angelo.
"Huh! That's for sure," said Eugene. "We're like Dragon Rider…" He then stroked Webmaster, "individuals."
"Maybe we do need some space," said Jun.
"Yeah. Maybe we do," said Tom and mounted Thunder. "Guess I'll see you guys later." He then looked down at Thunder, who didn't look too happy about this either. "Let's go, Pal."
The Dragon Riders left one by one, and only James and Jun were left.
Jun closed her eyes and looked to the ground. "You are right; staying together gave us the opposite result."
"You have the best intentions, Jun," said James as he mounted Blade. "We can only hope that we can work out this and become stronger for it."
