Mario was the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom alongside his brother, Luigi. They've been through many adventures together, alongside their other friends, all of whom vary in different abilities. Of course, they've had many victories against the King of the Koopas, Bowser, the most treacherous of turtles, a name that is feared throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. Time and time again he always attempted to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario and Luigi were always there to stop him. Although… Today was a new day, and the clocks of destiny began ticking towards something sinister.

Bowser was in search of something new. A powerful artifact lost to the ages known as the Convergence Crystal, yet deep below his kingdom, his minions managed to uncover ancient ruins that led Bowser to the caverns beneath the mountains of the Mushroom Kingdom. Joining him are his son and heir to his kingdom, Bowser Jr, and his right-hand mage, Kamek.

"Dad, how much time do we have to be here?" Bowser Jr. complained. "Until we find the Convergence Crystal. If I get my hands on it, then I will become the most powerful turtle in the world!" Bowser exclaimed. "M-milord, with all due respect, how do we know this Convergence Crystal even exists? If anything, all those ruins could just be children's stories," Kamek said. "Kamek, you know better than to question me," Bowser said, "Once I find it, I will be able to finally defeat those plumbers and become king of the world!" "More like king my ass," Bowser Jr. muttered. "What did you say, Junior!?" Bowser scolded. "Uh, nothing Papa. I mean, I said, 'more like Papa's the best'," Bowser Jr. stuttered. "Good, it better have been that," Bowser said.

Reaching further down the catacombs of the cave, the three found themselves in front of a dead end. "Oh well, looks like it's a dead end. Can I go home to play my video games now?" Bowser Jr. asked. "Junior!" Bowser scolded. "Eep," Bowser Jr. yelped. "Lord Bowser, there is nothing here," Kamek said. "There is always more than meets the eye," Bowser said. Bowser walked towards the wall. He clenched his fists and driving out all his rage he punched the wall and crumbled it to pebbles, and revealed a passageway. "Whoa," Bowser Jr. and Kamek said. "Let us continue," Bowser said.

As they walked through the passage, they could hear the echoes of the droplets through it. "These walls are ancient, perhaps even older than anything we've ever seen," Kamek said. "It's here. I know it is," Bowser said. "Dad, I don't like this place," Bowser Jr. said. "Junior, you know you need to get sunlight," Bowser said. "What?" Bowser Jr. questioned.

They made it to the end of the passage, where they found an ancient temple marked by a crossed circle. "No way," Kamek said, unbelievably. "Damn. This thing is cool. Woo hoo!" Bowser Jr. said, "Can I go home now?" Bowser walked up the temple's stairs and found a crystal floating on a pedestal. "The Convergence Crystal," Bowser said. Bowser reached out for it and grabbed it. "At last! Now, I will be able to rule the world!" Bowser yelled. Expecting something to happen, he raised it into the air and kept that position. "Uh, is it supposed to do something?" Bowser Jr. asked. "Hm, I don't know," Bowser said. "It doesn't work," said a voice.

The three of them looked forward and found a cloaked figure standing on the other side of the temple. Kamek yelled as he raised his wand, "Hey! No one intrudes on Lord Bow-!" The figure clenched his fist and Kamek was suddenly thrown onto the wall. "AH!" Kamek yelped as he fell to the floor. "Who are you?" Bowser asked, "Why are you here?" "I am a being, far beyond your comprehension. Beyond your world. I simply was seeking… that," he said. "Well you can't have it," Bowser said. "Oh, I'm well aware of that. Although, I do wonder, if you were to connect it with the other pieces, would it contain more power?" he asked. "Wait? More pieces?" Bowser questioned. The cloaked figure walked around Bowser, "Yes. More pieces. I am seeking them, just as how you sought this one," he said. "And you know where to find these pieces?" Bowser asked. "I have an idea. This one is one of eight. And I am aware you seek to destroy your enemies," he said. "Yeah! That Mario has been on my nerves for too long now," Bowser said. "Ah. I am familiar with such a feeling. I seek the crystals so I can form them back to their original form," the figure said. "What?" Bowser asked. "Ruina Orbem or referred to, the Smash Orb," the figure said, "An artifact containing ultimate power." "Power?" Bowser questioned. "Unlike anything you've ever seen," the figure said. "Then what are you proposing?" Bowser asked. "I have a grand army at my disposal. Their leader is a great, mystical figure from long ago. He agreed he will grant us our ultimate wishes if we cause such chaos among the galaxy, and you and others can join in that victory," the figure said. "And who are you?" Bowser asked.

The figure unmasked himself. He revealed long, flowing, and fiery red hair. He had a strong jawline, and his eyes were fierce and intimidating. His eyebrows were arched which showed his confidence and dominance. "I am the Dark Lord, Ganondorf. King of the Koopa, I seek to ally. Do you agree?" he asked. "Hm. I think I am going to enjoy this," Bowser said. "Uh, Dad? Kamek is still knocked out," Bowser Jr. said. "No time for that Junior! We have a Mushroom Kingdom to take over!" Bowser yelled, "And soon, nobody will stop us!"

Mario and Luigi strolled through the Mushroom Kingdom. The Toads all greeted them. "Ah, today's a nice day. Isn't it Luigi?" Mario asked. "It sure is Mario," Luigi said, "Honestly, things couldn't be better." "I know. Bowser hasn't attacked in a while, and the kingdom is prospering, and-," Mario said.

They could suddenly hear the sound of motorcycles approaching. Two motorcycles arrive, circling and causing smoke. "Oh boy," Mario unenthusiastically said, "What is it now?" "Wahahaha," someone laughed. The motorcycles stopped and it revealed two men. One was very round with a large, bulbous nose and his mustache was pointed. The other was tall and lanky with a long, slightly crooked nose, and beneath was a thin, twirled mustache. "Oh look. It's Wario and Waluigi," Luigi said. "Wahaha!" Wario laughed, "Hear ye! Hear ye! This town is now the property of the WarioWare Microgames Incorporation! Vacate the spot immediately!" The Toads all glanced at Wario but immediately went back to their lives. "Waaah!" Waluigi complained, "Are you not paying attention?! This town now belongs to us!"

The Toads completely ignored the two. "Alright. What's going on this time Wario?" Mario asked. "Mario! Of course you'd arrive! Ruining my plans as always!" Wario complained. "Dude, we've been here the entire time," Mario said. "Well scram! This is now Wario Land!" Wario exclaimed. "Oh yeah! This town belongs to us!" Waluigi exclaimed. "How so?" Luigi asked. "Well… uh…?" Waluigi questioned. "Waluigi! What did I tell you about thinking?!" Wario scolded. "That I shouldn't because it will melt my brain," Waluigi said. "Exactly. Good Waluigi," Wario said. "So you guys just came in here, yelled that this town belonged to you, and expected that everyone would just give it to you?" Mario questioned. "Yeah! Because it belongs to us!" Wario yelled. Mario let out a sigh. "Alright, let's put an end to this stupid thing," Mario said.

"Waaah!" Wario and Waluigi screamed as they were thrown out of the walls of the kingdom along with their motorcycles. "You'll pay for that Mario!" Wario yelled, "You'll pay!"

"Well, that takes care of that," Mario said as he wiped his hands together. "Wow, I can't believe you were able to do that real quick," Luigi said. "You get used to it," Mario said.

Wario and Waluigi were dragging their motorcycles across the land, trying to return to their home A.K.A the dump. "Why does nobody respect us?!" Wario exclaimed, "We're villains! We deserve better!" "I know! This is annoying! You know what Wario! We need to do something very evil to show we're really evil so we can finally get some respect!" Walugi yelled. "Quiet Waluigi! I'm thinking," Wario scolded, "That's it! We need to do something very evil to show that we're really evil so we can get respected!" "Oh. Yeah. That's a very good plan Wario. Better than mine," Waluigi said. "I know. I'm a genius," Wario said. Smoke was starting to appear around the Wario Bros. "Uh, Wario? What is that?" Waluigi asked.

From the smoke, Kamek appeared. "Ah, I couldn't help but overhear your conversation," Kamke said. "Kamek? What are you doing here?" Wario asked. "Yeah. What are you doing here?" Waluigi asked. "I heard what you boys were saying, and how would you like a job opportunity?" Kamek asked. "A job? You know we're very busy!" Wario exclaimed. "I know. But doing this will gain you the respect you deserve, and Lord Bowser will pay handsomely," Kamek explained. The Wario Bros.'s eyes suddenly turned into dollar signs. "You'll gain respect! Power!" Kamek exclaimed. "Money!" they both yelled. "... Money!" Kamek finished, "So, what do you say? Are you in?"

Time has passed as the sun began to set on the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi arrived at Peach's Castle where they were greeted by Captain Toad and Toadette. "Hey, Mario. I heard you had trouble with the Wario Brothers," Toad said. "No trouble at all. I took care of them easily," Mario said. "Well we do classify their threat level to less than average to none," Toadette said. "So, is the Princess here?" Mario asked. "She's waiting on her balcony, Mario," Toad said. "Alright. You good here Luigi?" Mario asked. "Yeah. I'm fine Mario," Luigi said.

Mario climbed the stairs of the castle and found Peach on her balcony, staring across the kingdom. "Hey Princess," Mario said. "Oh. Hey Mario," Peach said. "What are you doing?" Mario asked. "Just looking at the kingdom," Peach said. Mario joined her and saw the sunset descend. "Wow. That is a sight," Mario said. "It sure is," Peach said. "Hm… alright. What's going on?" Mario asked with concern. "What do you mean?" Peach asked. "I don't know. You just seem kind of, sad, or worried," Mario said. "I honestly don't know. Something seems off today. I don't know why," Peach said.

Luigi, Toad, and Toadette were walking through the halls of the castle, looking at the multiple paintings that acted as portals to other parts of the world. "Hey. I remember that one," Luigi said as he pointed to the painting of Bob-Omb Battlefield. "Really? I didn't know you went on that adventure with Mario?" Toad questioned. "So L is real?" Toadette asked.

As they walked, they noticed that one of the paintings began to swirl crazily. "Hey, does that usually happen?" Luigi asked. "Not usually? No," Toadette said. Princess Daisy came out of the painting. "Daisy?-" Luigi questioned. "Move out of the way!" Daisy yelled. Daisy grabbed the painting, threw it on the floor, and stomped on it to destroy it. She panted and then looked at the others who were looking at her. "Hi," she said calmly. "Uh, Princess Daisy? Mind telling us why you just did that?" Toadette asked. "I need to speak with Peach. Immediately," Daisy demanded.

"I'll admit, it is odd that Bowser hasn't attacked in so long," Mario said. "I fear his next plan will be worse than the last," Peach said. "Well don't worry. Me and Luigi will always be here to stop him," Mario said. "I'm counting on it," Peach said.

They stared at each other and held hands until Toad and Toadette barged through the doors. "Well, what's going on here?" Toad intriguingly asked. "Quiet Toad!" Toadette scolded, "We have a problem." Daisy paced back and forth. "And they just came out of nowhere. Sarasaland didn't stand a chance," she said. "Who came?" Peach asked. "Koopas. A lot of them. Including these weird pig creatures," Daisy said. "Pig creatures?" Mario questioned. "Yeah. They managed to storm the town and take over my castle. I barely managed to escape through a painting," Daisy said. "Koopas. It had to be Bowser," Peach said.

Out of nowhere, they heard motorcycles arriving outside of the castle. "Not these guys again," Mario complained. "Can I help take care of them this time Mario?" Luigi asked. "Sure, Luigi. Come on," Mario said. They went outside to find Wario and Waluigi waiting for them. "Wario. What are you doing here?" Mario asked. "We're here to get what rightfully belongs to us!" Wario yelled. "Yeah! For too long has everyone disrespected us as villains! It is time you start treating us like actual threats!" Waluigi exclaimed. Mario shook his head in disbelief. "Is that what this has been about the entire time?" Mario asked. "It was until you defeated us last time! Now you will pay!" Wario exclaimed. "How so?" Mario asked. Luigi looked up and yelled, "Mario! Look out!" "Huh?" Mario questioned.

Mario jumped out of the way as a cannonball hit the spot Mario was on. "What the?!" Mario exclaimed. They all felt a powerful updraft as they witnessed large airships in the air. In one of the airships, Bowser stood on the plank. "So, you didn't expect to see me!" Bowser yelled. "Bowser," Mario said. "You should've respected us when you had the chance, unlike Bowser who wanted us to help us!" Wario exclaimed. "And he was able to pay us for it," Waluigi said. "Of course he did," Mario said. Bowser jumped down from his airship and landed on the stone bricks of the castle's courtyard. "Today! I will win!" Bowser yelled.

Below the castle, the town's gates were compromised as Koopas came through and ravaged it. The Toad people all ran around, screaming and grabbing their stuff. "No!" Peach yelled. Bowser gathered his breath and exhaled to release his fire. Mario fired up his hands and held Bowser's fire back. "Mario!" Luigi yelled. "I can hold it!" Mario yelled. "Not for long!" Wario yelled. Wario revved his motorbike and headed straight towards Mario. "YOLO!" Toad screamed. "Wah?" Wario questioned. Toad came out of the castle from his kart, jumped from it, and crashed it into Wario's bike. Wario landed on the floor and he got up. "Oh, you'll pay for that!" Wario yelled. "Yeah! You will!" Waluigi yelled. "Here we go," Luigi unsurely said. "Wah?" Waluigi questioned. Luigi jumped up and fell down on Waluigi, knocking him off his bike. "Luigi! How dare you?!" Waluigi yelled. "Take this!" Luigi yelled. He closed his eyes, ran, and swatted Waluigi multiple times. "Ow! That hurt!" Waluigi yelled.

Bowser continued to breathe fire out. From out of nowhere, Peach jumped down and kicked Bowser in the face, and then she landed next to Mario. "Not bad, Princess," Mario said. "Could say the same to you, Mustache," Peach said. "You'll both pay for that!" Bowser yelled. Bowser charged like a bull. "You ready for this?" Mario asked. "Only if you are," Peach said. They both jumped above Bowser's charge. Mario ran back to grab Bowser's tail and he spun him around. He then threw him at one of the walls, allowing Peach to grab a golf club and smack Bowser in the face.

Luigi and Toad were running from Wario and Waluigi who were chasing them. "You'll pay for that!" Wario yelled. "Incoming!" Daisy yelled. "Wah?" Wario questioned. With her hip, Daisy managed to tackle Wario and send him launching. "Wahoo!" Toadette yelled as she jumped on top of Waluigi. Daisy grabbed another golf club and smacked Waluigi towards Wario. "Nobody messes with our men," Daisy said. "Our heroes," Toad said.

They heard steps coming towards the courtyard's gates. The gates opened and the four of them saw Ganondorf, holding a large malevolent sword as his eyes glowed. "Who's this guy," Daisy asked. Mario and Peach continued to fight Bowser. "Take this!" Mario yelled as he punched Bowser in the snout. "AH!" Peach yelled as she kicked Bowser in the exact same spot. "Ugh!" Bowser yelped, "That's not going to stop me!" Bowser grabbed a piece of the wall and threw it. They both ducked. "Not sure what his plan is here, but we can't let him win," Mario said. "Yeah," Peach said. Mario charged straight towards Bowser, jumped up, and right as he was about to hit him in the face, Mario was blasted by a dark blast and launched straight into the castle.

"Mario!" Peach yelled as she ran towards him to check on him. "Peach!" Daisy yelled. "Huh?!" Peach exclaimed. Peach saw that the others were fighting Ganondorf, but were all immediately launched away as he caused a shockwave. "Guys!" Peach yelled. "No. I-I'm good," Mario said as he struggled to stand up. Bowser, Wario, and Waluigi stood back up as Ganondorf walked straight toward the heroes. "Forgive my failure to introduce myself. You may not know of me," he said. "Who cares?" Mario said. "Hm. I was told you'd be formidable, and yet with one attack, I was able to disable you. Either way, you won't be here to see what is to come," Ganondorf said. Ganondorf charged his power from his fists. "Quickly! Inside the castle!" Peach yelled.

Everyone managed to stand up, but barely and they ran and barricaded themselves inside the castle as Ganondorf released a large beam of energy at the castle. "It won't hold," Peach said. "We have to get out of here," Toadette said. "To the paintings!" Daisy yelled. They ran to the halls filled with paintings and looked through all of them to see which one to go through. "We're gonna need help if we're going to stop Bowser this time," Peach said fearfully. They found a painting filled with jungle trees and bananas. "Oh no. Not him," Mario complained. "We have no choice," Peach said. "Ugh…" Mario said. They heard the castle gates break open. "Screw it. Let's A-Go," Mario said.

They all jumped through the portal as Bowser broke through the hallway. "Where did they go?!" Bowser yelled. "WAH! They got away!" Wario yelled. "Hm, it seems they did," Ganondorf said, calmly. "Why are you so calm?! This is a problem!" Bowser yelled. "For now. Although, your army can span across the world. I sense there are two more Convergence Crystals in this world," he said. "What is that? Sounds valuable," Waluigi said. "Indeed. Not in monetary value, but in power. We require all of them," Ganondorf said, "I expect you to deal with this. Do not lose the crystals." "And where are you going?!" Bowser yelled. "I have other matters I must attend to. This alliance doesn't just involve our worlds, but a majority of them," Ganondorf said. He opened a portal and walked through it. "Just get the job done," Ganondorf said as the portal closed behind him.

"What now?" Wario asked. "Where could they have gone?" Waluigi asked. "There would be two places where they'd desperately go. Kamek!" Bowser ordered. Kamek appeared. "Yes, Lord Bowser?" Kamek asked. "Go to Yoshi's Island. Cause some chaos. And tell one of my children to head to the jungle to ask King K. Rool if he wishes to ally with us," Bowser said. "As you wish Lord Bowser," Kamek said as he disappeared. Bowser then looked at the Wario Brothers. "You two. Go to the Piranha Plant fields, and attempt to recruit Petey Piranha," Bowser said. "Alright. You paid us," Wario said, "Come on Waluigi." "Oh yeah. Petey. He will help us for sure," Waluigi said.

The Koopa Army managed to capture the Toad citizens and imprison them. From Peach's Castle, the flags were replaced to match the Koopa Army's emblem. Bowser, for the first time, had successfully taken over the Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser sat on the throne that once belonged to Princess Peach.

Even if things seem bleak, across the stars, hope will always shine and awaken when they are needed the most. "Oh?"
