Percy Jackson and The Olympians Fanfiction
A Journey Beyond Duty
Percy POV
The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a warm glow across the courtyard of the royal palace. I stood at attention, my armor gleaming in the fading light, awaiting the arrival of the princess. As a knight of the realm, it was my duty to protect her with my life.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the palace doors swung open, and a procession of nobles emerged, followed by Princess Annabeth Chase herself. My breath caught in my throat as she entered the courtyard, her golden hair catching the last rays of sunlight like a halo around her head.
"Sir Percy," she greeted me, her voice like music to my ears. "I trust you will keep me safe on our journey?"
I bowed low before her, feeling a rush of adrenaline course through my veins. "With my life, Your Highness," I replied, my voice steady despite the nervous fluttering in my chest.
As we set out on our journey, I mounted my trusty steed, Thunderbolt, and rode at the head of the procession, Princess Annabeth's carriage following closely behind. The wind whipped through my hair as Thunderbolt galloped across the open fields, the sound of his hooves echoing in the quiet countryside.
"Sir Percy," came the princess's voice from inside the carriage. "Do you have any experience with dragons?"
I turned to look at her, surprised by the question. "Aye, Your Highness," I replied. "I've faced many a dragon in my time as a knight."
She nodded thoughtfully. "Good," she said. "For I fear we may encounter one on our journey."
I felt a shiver run down my spine at the thought of facing a dragon, but I pushed the fear aside, determined to protect the princess at all costs.
As we rode on, we passed through quaint villages and lush green forests, the landscape unfolding before us like a painting. Princess Annabeth and I exchanged stories and laughter along the way, getting to know each other better with each passing mile.
As night fell and the stars began to twinkle overhead, we made camp in a clearing by the side of the road. The crackling of the fire filled the air, casting dancing shadows on the trees surrounding us. Princess Annabeth sat by the fire, her gaze fixed on the flames, lost in thought.
Approaching her tentatively, I cleared my throat. "Your Highness," I said, "is there anything I can do to assist you?"
She looked up at me, her eyes softening with gratitude. "Thank you, Sir Percy," she replied, her voice warm and sincere. "But for now, I think I will retire for the evening. Please, rest yourself as well."
With a nod, I bid her goodnight and retreated to my tent. As I lay beneath the starlit sky, my mind raced with thoughts of the princess. I couldn't help but wonder what adventures lay ahead, and what role Princess Annabeth would play in shaping my destiny.
For in that moment, as the world faded into darkness around me, I knew that my journey with the princess was only just the beginning and that together, we would face whatever challenges lay ahead, bound by duty and honor.
