Chapter 11 – The academy at night
It was quiet night and the Kimetsu Academy was closed. But because it was the Kimetsu Academy, strange things happened also during the night…
In one of the classrooms of the academy, a boy was sitting and playing with a string.
"Grrrr… this sucks… so much…" mumbled the boy
This kid was Rui, a quiet boy with white skin and red dots on his face. He is a guy that spends most of his time alone playing with a string and sometimes he does that even during the night.
But this time, he was in a really bad mood…
As he was playing with his string, a strange figure appeared before him.
"HOHOHO… What do we have here…? A little boy…? Here…? At this hour?" said the figure
It was Gyokko, one of the ghosts that haunted the academy during the night. Even though he appeared before Rui, Rui just glanced at him and then back at his string.
"Get lost. I have no time for you."
"HOHOHO-Huh?" Gyokko mumbled as he heard him

"…"
"…"
"W-What?! Aren't you afraid?! I am Gyokko! One of the ghosts that haunts this academy! Tremble in fear!" Gyokko said proudly
"Can you be quiet? I am in no mood for your crap." Rui replied without looking at him this time

"YOU LITTLE-" as Gyokko wanted to scream, he suddenly heard another voice and saw a light in the hallway
"He must be in here!" said the voice
"Oh no! They found me! HOHOHO! Time for me to go!" said Gyokko and disappeared in a vase
A second later, the door shot open and a guy with a flashing entered.
"HAHAHA! FOUND YOU! Huh…?" he screamed
The guy was the music teacher, Tengen Uzui. After he saw only Rui and not the ghost, all his excitement vanished.
"Crap… I thought that the ghost was here…but it's just you again…" he said annoyed as he saw Rui
"IS HE THERE?!" screamed another voice from the hallway
"Nah! It's just the weird ugly kid again!"
"THE HELL?! WHAT IS HE DOING HERE AGAIN?!"
"Don't know! I will ask him!" Uzui screamed back at the guy in hallway, who was probably Sanemi, the math teacher
"…"
"…"
"Weird ugly kid…?" Rui mumbled as his eye twitched
"Yo, kiddo!" Uzui said as he sat down on his desk
"What are you doing here again? I told you multiple times now that the academy is dangerous during the night." he added
Rui looked at him with a murderous expression, but then sighed and continued playing with his string.
"I don't care. I am in a bad mood."
"Oh… that sucks but still, the academy is dangerous. How about you go home?" Uzui asked, but Rui ignored him
Seeing that he had no intention of leaving, Uzui rolled his eyes and asked him what was wrong.
"Ugh… so, what happened? Why are you a bad mood?"
Hearing that, Rui stopped playing with his string and glanced at him.
"Do you really want to know or are you just trying to get me to leave?"
"Eh…" Uzui replied and looked away
"Grrr… Whatever, I tell you, so that you can leave me alone." Rui added and put down his string
Rui then crossed his arms and started talking.
"So basically, I have wanted to work for this one guy. He is a famous politician and he has been hiring people. After acing the interview and getting hired, I got a phone call telling me that they found out I am not eligible to work for him… Which sucks because I wanted the money…" Rui explained
Hearing his story, Uzui just stared at him.
"Ehm…" he mumbled
"So, now you know why I am in a bad mood. So leave me alone…" said Rui and continued playing with this string
"Eh… well… dude you're like 9 years old. Who the hell would let you work for them?" Uzui said with a smile, almost mocking him
"GRRRRRR!"
"Like seriously, what the hell did you expect? Kids like you should be happy if they get some pocket money from their parents!" Uzui continued
"Grrrrrr…!"
"But hey… I get you kiddo! Everyone wants to be loaded! You can buy all the stuff that you want, and you get all the women… like me! HAHAHAHA!" Uzui laughed and pointed at himself
"Grrrr…." Rui in the meantime tried his hardest not to punch him…
"Anyway… I know this sucks, but there's nothing that I can-WAIT!" said Uzui and he suddenly got an idea
He started thinking about something, which caught Rui's attention.
"Wait a minute… this could work… just need to make sure he doesn't snitch on me…" he thought
"What." Rui asked annoyed as he saw him think
"Say… are you interested in work?" asked Uzui
"Depends. Why?" Rui asked
"Maybe… I have something for you… but only if you promise me not to snitch on me." said Uzui
"I won't snitch. What is it?" Rui asked
"I am warning you! If you snitch, I am going to kick your ass…" said Uzui and looked at him with a serious expression
"I won't. So what is it?" Rui asked curious
Making sure that the two were alone, Uzui went closer to Rui.
"Listen here. A part of my job is to make the academy safe at night, but there are some ghosts haunting this place… If you help me to find them, then I will pay you."
"Really?"
"Yes! You can become something like my assistant! Or sidekick! Just NEVER tell this to anyone, or else I get into trouble. Do you understand?"
"Yes. By the way, if you want to find a ghost, one is hiding in that vase…" said Rui and pointed at the white vase in the middle of the classroom
"YOU LITTLE SNITCH! ARGHHRHHHH!" screamed Gyokko as he tried to make his escape, but Uzui punched him full force
"HAHAHAHAHAHA! Good job sidekick!" Uzui said happily as he stood over the defeated body of Gyokko
Rui nodded and stood up.
"Hm? Where are you going?" Uzui asked
"To find the rest… come on. I think I know where they are…" said Rui and left the classroom
"HAHAHA! This job got a lot easier thanks to that kid!" Uzui said happily as he followed him…
