Nate smiled as he picked up his cards, counted them quickly, and Shiro did the same, only out loud.
"Wow, you're lucky, 40 cards in the deck is standard, you can't change it, but you got 6 cards in the extra deck and 5 cards in the side deck too, what are you? A cheater? Hahahahah"
Shiro joked, patting Nate on the back. While Shiro was having more fun than Nate with his new deck, Luna appeared on the horizon, running around with a cell phone in her hands.
"Nate, your new cell phone! Have you bought your deck yet? Oh, I bought you a Duel Disk as a present!"
Luna, like Shiro, was more excited than Nate about the situation.
'Is everyone that loud and excited in this world?'
Nate thought to himself and couldn't hold back a laugh.
"What are you laughing at?"
Shiro asked, but Nate shrugged.
"Well, I've already got the deck, now all that's left is to create the ID."
Nate said aloud to himself as he fiddled with his new cards, an evil grin could be seen on his face as he went card by card, imagining the most diverse moves.
"It's pretty easy to create a duelist ID, you just need to download the DuelSystem app, and since the cell phone I chose for you already comes with a plan, you won't have to deal with much bureaucracy, it's basically sign up and duel, of course you'll have to pay the monthly cell phone plan of 100DP$, but that should be easy for you."
Luna concluded.
"Okay, let's see..."
Nate spoke as he checked his cell phone, it was just like the cell phones in his world, the apps however were completely different, the app store, for example, was called KaibaStore, in it Nate downloaded the DuelSystem app to register, a few other apps caught his eye, however, Nate chose to register as a duelist first, he started to register, but right at the beginning he ran into a problem.
"Why is the lowest number I can choose for my year of birth 4,705?"
Nate was apparently confused.
"Oh, it's because you're not allowed to legally become a duelist if you're under 15."
Luna explained.
'That means we're at... 4.720... This world gets stranger and stranger.'
Nate thought, and then selected the date 19/09/4.700, since he was 20, he thought he should represent just that in this world.
Nate finished registering on DuelSystem, choosing the date of birth that reflected his real age. After registering, he received a confirmation sound and notification that his Duelist ID was ready and his Deck had been successfully registered in the database, named "Dark Magic" by Nate.
"Okay, now you're officially part of the dueling world! How about trying out your new cards in a duel?"
Suggested Shiro, excited.
However, a notification popped up, interrupting Shiro and informing Nate that he had unlocked a special mission: "Challenge of the Duelists". Curious, Nate explored the details of the mission. The "Duelists' Challenge" was apparently divided into 3 parts, the first part being the only one revealed for the time being; the other two were locked. The first part, however, read: "Chaos Duelist - Monsters have different attributes. The mission is to defeat a duelist while monsters representing light and darkness are banned from the game by your side of the field, demonstrating not only strategic skills, but also the ability to adapt to different styles of play. The reward includes two unique cards associated with each element."
"Wow, a special mission. I've only done four of those myself in all my time dueling."
Shiro commented.
"I've only done one."
Luna declared, feeling defeated by Shiro once again.
"I'd take it, it might be the only one of those you'll ever see. The rewards are great."
Shiro said.
"By the way, there's an acquaintance of mine who might be one of the only people in this neighborhood capable of giving you a challenge, the top two in the area ranking. I can call him if you want."
Shiro suggested.
"I don't need an excuse to duel. I would accept this mission even without rewards. I'm up for any challenge." - Nate smiled. - "So, are we going to call the top two or not?"
Nate agreed.
As they waited for the top two to arrive and the duel to begin, Luna and Shiro watched anxiously, curious to see Nate's skills in action.
Nate, for his part, was waiting for his opponent as the sun set, where the sunset painted the sky in warm tones. The tranquil atmosphere contrasted with the intensity that was approaching, creating an air of drama as he waited, his cards ready for the duel.
While he waited, Nate decided to take one last look at his deck, analyzing the cards strategically. Shiro and Luna, anxious, exchanged expectant glances, wondering how Nate would face this challenge.
Shortly afterwards, the top two duelist in the area arrived, an experienced duelist with a fearsome reputation. His name was Kaito, known for his almost unpredictable strategies, the name of his deck was "Burning Life".
"So you're the newbie who wants a challenge? I hope you're ready for a real duel."
Said Kaito, with a challenging smile.
Nate greeted Kaito and firmly accepted the challenge.
"I'm more than ready. This is going to be interesting."
Replied Nate, ready for the duel that would unfold under the dramatic sunset.
The dueling field was prepared, the cards were shuffled, and the two duelists positioned themselves.
"Duel!"
The two said almost in unison.
Kaito: 4000/4000 :Nate
Kaito and Nate drew their five starting cards, and Kaito stepped forward.
"Burning! I'll start by activating the 'Tremendous Fire' Spell Card! This Spell burns both our life points, mine by 500 and yours by 1000!"
Two fairies with amber hair and flaming wings materialized, each one heading towards one of the duelists, plunging to the ground in front of them and giving rise to a large flame.
Kaito: 3500/3000 :Nate
"Burn damage, interesting, but in that case I activate the effect of my monster, directly from my hand! Magikuriboh! When I receive damage, I can send my little monster to the Graveyard and special summon my Ace, 'Dark Magician'!"
Nate declared, sent his 'Magikuriboh' to his graveyard, and 'Dark Magician' materialized on the field, in attack mode, a powerful magician in dark blue robes with red edges and golden hair. With greenish skin and intense eyes. He held a magical staff in one hand, and in the other, he seemed to be conjuring magical energy.

"You summoned your Ace on the first turn hahahaha! And the best part, on my turn, beating you will be an incredible experience! Burning!"
Kaito was thrilled with Nate's move.
"I'll put a monster face down and end my turn."
"I have some ideas about who your monster might be, it might be dangerous to confirm, but I'd only worry about one hypothesis, so I'll put a Magic Card face down and attack your monster with my 'Dark Magician'!"
Nate placed a card on the dueling disk and ordered the attack.
'Dark Magician' raised his magic staff, concentrating magic energy as he prepared to cast a spell, rays of magic energy appeared from 'Dark Magician's' staff, and he cast a powerful spell towards the opponent's monster, several black lightning bolts were thrown towards the face-down card.
However, Kaito had his own plans.
"Very good Nate! Come out, my Ace 'Marshmallon'!"
The face-down card revealed itself, and the lightning bolts were not only neutralized, but reflected, causing 1000 points of damage to Nate while 'Marshmallon' materialized, a small, round monster that resembled a marshmallow, with a pale pink color, a cute, spherical creature with small eyes and a smiling mouth at the top.

Nate declared after laughing a little.
"I don't understand, if that was your worst case scenario, why are you laughing?"
Kaito liked the excitement, but he was really confused.
"I'll explain... I'd call what we have here a 'Contrasting Field Lock', where one of the players has clearly dominated the field, yet the other player has locked in his options somehow, and that's super interesting! Who will give in first? My life points or the lock?"
Nate concluded with an evil grin.
Kaito felt a threatening aura, but the feeling was quickly overshadowed by that of 'illusion of victory', and he immediately summoned the card he had just drawn.
"I summon 'Fencing Fire Ferret'!"
An agile and elegant looking fire ferret, with flames burning around its body, materialized.
"Now I put a Magic Card face down and end my turn."

Nate said after drawing a card as a smile formed on Kaito's face.
"I activate my face-down Quick Spell Card, 'Mystical Space Typhoon'!"
Kaito declared, and his face-down card was revealed.
"This card allows me to destroy one of my opponent's Magic Cards, and I choose the card you just placed."
Kaito said triumphantly. However, this time it was Nate who smiled.
"Excellent! I'll activate the Spell Card 'The Eye of Timaeus'!"
Nate declared after the 'Dark Magic Veil' he just set was destroyed.
"This card allows me to select a Dark Magician I control and send it to the Graveyard. After that, I can special summon a Fusion Monster that lists 'Dark Magician' as a material, directly from my Extra Deck."
'Dark Magician' was destroyed, and in its place, 'Dark Magician The Dragon Knight' materialized. Dark Magician's robes were transformed, mixing his original robes with armor, and he now rode an imposing dragon.

Nate announced as his Trap Card revealed itself, and 'Dark Magician' materialized once again. The two Dark Magician's looked at each other and greeted each other with a brief nod.
"Now, 'Dark Magician the Dragon Knight', attack 'Fencing Fire Ferret'!"
Nate announced the attack. Before 'Dark Magician the Dragon Knight' could attack, however, Nate interrupted.
"In addition, I'm going to activate the effect of a monster in my hand, 'Dark Honest'. By discarding this card, I can zero out the attack of a monster that is battling a Dark monster I control."
'Dark Magician the Dragon Knight' attacked with a huge fireball surrounded by purple lightning, and 'Fencing Fire Ferret' was destroyed.

"I activate the effect of my 'Fencing Fire Ferret'. When it's destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, I can choose a monster my opponent controls and destroy it. I choose 'Dark Magician the Dragon Knight'!"

Kaito declared as a giant made of lava, with fused and incandescent bodies, with two holes where the eyes should be, emitting an intense red glow, formed on Nate's field after his two monsters were destroyed.

"After that, I end my turn, with my 'Marshmallon' and 'Lava Golem' combo and a guaranteed victory in two turns!"
Kaito announced victoriously.
"Useless trash talk at it's finest..."
Nate muttered as he drew a card, he didn't even look at the newly drawn card, taking one of the cards in his hand while his life points were reduced by 'Lava Golem'.

"By banishing the two monsters you just sent to my Graveyard, I can special summon 'Chaos Sorcerer' from my hand!"
Nate declared, and 'Chaos Sorcerer' materialized. A powerful sorcerer, with black robes with red details, bluish skin and an aura that emanated both light and darkness.
