I am curious.

I watch the child as I am told so before Fate takes over. He is supposed to be within my grasp tonight. I can feel it.

I cannot help feeling bad about taking him. It is not natural for me to have such a feeling about a mortal. But I have to do as I am told.

It is late; quite very late. The boy is late. His brothers are worrying. I watch the eldest brother as he calls about a million different phone numbers to try and find out where the child is.

I know where the child is. I know exactly how the night will play out up to a certain point. And I have a feeling it is not in the boy's luck that he survives.

I don't know why I feel for the boy. Maybe it is because he is too young; but I take young people all the time. There is something different about this boy.

I spot him walking through the gate and up the stairs to his house, shivering. A light flickers inside the house; it is my doing. He goes inside the a scene plays out. His eldest brother is angry, the middle brother is tired, and the boy is afraid. He feels unloved; but I know that the eldest does love him. More than the boy could ever know.

Such I shame I have to take him.

The eldest is mad and hits the boy out of fury. He regrets it, I hear his thoughts echo throughout the air. What did I just do!? To my own brother!? I can't believe myself.

I follow the boy as he runs out the house. He is a fast runner. Light on his feet, he is. Just then, I see a faint glow of Fate; an angel-like presence that is beautiful beyond the universe. What a pretty face for such a demanding job.

Fate slowly appears, more and more as she controls how the boy's night plays out. She is very predictable; at least of what I've seen of her.

"Hello, Allegra."

She looks over at me, a thoughtful look on her face.

"Evening to you, Elsto. I wouldn't think I would see you here."

"I had a feeling. Could you confirm that feeling?"

She shakes her head. "It is unwritten. I got a message but it is undecided. It could play out either way."

I frown. This does not happen often.

I watch as the boy and his frightened friend watch the blue Mustang pull up to the park. They should run; but it is far too late. The drunk teenagers get out of the car and chase the young boys down. They grab the boy and pull him to the fountain, pushing him under the water.

Allegra pulls out a strip a paper. She frowns.

"What is it, Allegra?"

"It says he will not die."

I am confused. Fate does not change, if it does at all, until the moment the event happens.

"What do you mean? He can't possibly… unless…"

She nods slowly.

"This means that The Dark is taking over again."

I hope everyone likes this story so far ! I'll try to update as quick as I can ! :)
