Chapter 4
"I'm glad that is finally over." Libby said as she leaned against the inside of her door, the date had just ended, and Spongebob, that yellow fool, had finally gone home.
"Why did I ever agree to this stupid job!" Libby cursed herself as she kicked off her heels, her face was still flushed from the intense makeout session that had just occurred outside. Libby paused for a moment, watching as the last few hours flashed before her eyes.
The more she thought about it, the more embarrassed she felt. He wasn't this great guy that she was thinking of, he was just another man that wanted what all men wanted, but yet, when it came time for him to collect the desire, he refused.
The thought of him refusing such an opportunity that many men wouldn't have left a second chance to pass up, but he did. Libby brushed her finger tips over her lips where she continued to feel the tingling sensation of their kiss.
"UGH! That Puney, pathetic, worthless, sorry excuse for a Sponge!" Libby said as she slid off a bracelet and threw it towards a coffee table, when she noticed something.
The bouquet of flowers he had bought her earlier, the ones that she had just thrown onto her kitchen counter, out of water, they had begun to wilt. Libby sighed as she went into her kitchen, and dug into a cabinet and retrieved a vase.
Carefully, she began to prep the damaged flowers, "they really are beautiful." she said to herself as she fluffed them a little.
"Such fragile forms of life. So delicate." Libby spoke softly as she touched a wilted petal before she smiled a little, just like that little sponge. Libby couldn't help but to shake her head at the thought of him before turning to leave the kitchen.
Libby sighed as she walked into her bathroom, undressing to get into a hot bath she had drawn herself, she let out a frustrated sigh as she dipped her foot into the hot water before lowering the rest of herself into the tub where she let the bubbles rise up to her nose as she began to replay the events of tonight in her head.
Dinner, the dance, the beach. She began to imagine his face and how the moonlight reflected off his skin and how he kissed her.
"That fool." she cursed herself, images of that stupid yellow sponge would cross her mind, his annoying laugh, those ridiculous teeth, his voice.
"He Is SO annoying!" she said out loud to herself, "with that stupid high pitched voice, and that dumb outfit, and those squeaky shoes!" she began to get angry thinking about him.
The more that she thought about him though, the more that she could see. Those ridiculous soft lips, and his ridiculously strong hands. The way he used them to lead her on the dance floor, how he held her and whispered sweet things.
Those ridiculously beautiful blue eyes, the way his tongue moved around in her mouth, how he kissed her just now, why was she putting herself through this!? She dunked her head under the water to try to get her mind out of the gutter, he was the last thing she wanted to think about right now.
Her cheeks began to turn red as she began to remember the beach, why did he have to take her there? Why did he have to make her feel this way? Was she really having second thoughts? No, this wasn't supposed to happen.
Libby wasn't in love with him, he was a loser, a nobody.
What about just now?
Just now? That wasn't anything, he wasn't that great of a kisser, ok, maybe just a little bit… A little bit? Come on, you know it was better than that Libby. Whatever, It still didn't matter, it was part of the job, and she almost had it, if it weren't for him changing the subject.
"Hello?" Libby answered her phone.
"Did you get it?" Plankton asked, Libby sighed, rubbing her face, he was the last person she wanted to hear right now, "No, I didn't get it." she answered, "Why not? You did everything you were supposed to, didn't you?" he asked.
"I tried, but It didn't work, he's not just going to give it to me, ya know, it's gonna take time." she said, "How much time?" Plankton asked, "I don't know, as long as it is going to take, we're going out again this weekend, to some dumb party, maybe if I can get him wasted he'll loosen up, he might spill it, but until then, I have nothing." Libby informed.
Plankton sighed, "Very well, just don't fail me, ya got that?"
"Got it." she said before she hung up and tossed the phone to the floor before submerging herself in the water completely.
…
"Oh Gary! You should have been there. It was amazing and I was on fire!" Spongebob shouted as he ran around his living room with so much energy.
"Meow?"
"Kiss?" Spongebob asked as he stopped in his tracks to think about Gary's question.
The Kiss.
"Oh Gary." Spongebob swooned as he fell onto his chair with as hand over his head as he thought about it, the thought alone was enough to make him feel as if he were drunk.
"It was amazing. Like, it was the best thing I've ever experienced, I don't know what could top that." Spongebob shook his head.
Gary smiled at his owner, seeing him like this wasn't something you'd see everyday.
"Meow?" Gary asked as he climbed onto the arm of the chair.
"Better then A Krabby Patty? How can you ask me that, she can't be.. oh" Spongebob trailed off before he gasped as a realization hit him, it was both terrifying and exciting, heartbreaking and soothing.
So warm and inviting, like a flower that had been asleep for years had just blossomed. That kiss was breathtaking and addicting.
"Better then a Krabby Patty." Spongebob admitted as he wiped his eyes of a happy tear, "I mean, I've had dozens of Patties and all of them are the same. I never thought I would say it, Gary but you're right." Spongebob sniffled as he was becoming emotional.
"They're all the same, but none of them bring me as much joy and excitement as she does. I mean, oh barnacles, Gary. I almost couldn't contain myself, she was so good, and her lips were so sweet and she was so soft and warm.. Like honey" Spongebob paused to look down at his pants before he crossed his legs.
"Meow."
"No Gary, A krabby patty has never made me feel like this before either." Spongebob began to blush. Spongebob laughed as he got up from his chair and went upstairs to take a cold shower.
Saturday night
"What's the plan?" Plankton asked Libby as they approached the Krusty Krab where she was told she would meet her date.
"Act nice, and extract the formula, I got it. Do I need to keep repeating it to you? And do you really need to hitch a ride on my shoulder? Won't someone see you? I don't know about you but I don't feel like having my cover blown by you." she said as she flicked him into her purse as she approached the building.
The party was fairly good size, the music was loud enough to be heard outside, with the neon lights, maybe this party wouldn't be so bad? With everyone distracted, she could just sneak into the office and snatch the formula before anyone would notice, then she wouldn't have to continue with this stupid job.
But how would she be able to do that? With him there, would she even be able to leave his side?
Libby poked her head around the crowded room, she didn't see Spongebob anywhere, maybe he was too busy to notice she was there. Libby snuck behind the crowd, picking up a few horderves from a table to make it seem like she was a part of the event.
It didn't take long for her to find him, it was a good thing he was on the opposite side of the building chatting with his stupid friends to notice, maybe this would be easy.
Libby did a quick check around her as she pressed her back against the office door before she slipped in, unseen, or so she thought.
"Aye What's this?" Mr. Krabs asked as he stood afar, watching as Spongebob's new girlfriend slipped into his office, what business did she have in there?
Libby slowly tip-toed inside the dark office, she had been warned about the booby traps laid out to protect the formula, which made it easy for her slip through them all, "Why would someone go through so much trouble for such a silly little sandwich?" she asked herself.
"What are ye doin in here, little lass." Mr. Krabs' strong voice echoed through the room as the office door slammed shut behind him, Libby jumped at his sudden appearance, "I uh, was looking for a restroom.." Libby explained.
"Uh huh, if that were the case, you would have seen the sign." Mr. Krabs crossed his arms, "I know, it's just that, all the stalls were full, and I heard there might be an extra one in here, was all, I wasn't snooping around or anything." she tried to explain.
"I don't buy that for one second." Krabs said as he walked around her, stepping between her and the safe.
"What do you mean? Im telling the truth." Libby lied, "You may have fooled me fry cook, but ye don't fool me, what is it with you? Why the sudden interest in the lad?" Mr. Krabs asked, "I love-" "I don't believe it. No one can ever truly love the lad, unless they're lying to themselves, or if they're just plain looney, which you don't strike me as either." Mr. Krabs interrupted.
"Well, it's not up for you to believe, I know how I feel, look I'm sorry I came in here." she apologized as she turned to leave, "I'm onto you, little girl." Mr. Krabs shouted at her as she left the office, stupid old man.
Libby leaned against a tall barrel, watching as a few people talked with her 'boyfriend', he hadn't noticed she was standing here just yet.
"That was a close one." Plankton said as he stepped out of her purse, Libby gasped as she quickly shoved him back down into her purse, "are you crazy?!" she scolded him in a harsh whisper, "what?" Plankton asked as he laid pressed against a tube of lipstick.
"You know what." she said as she clenched her fist, "It's not like anyone is gonna see me, everyone is too busy with the party." Plankton said, "Not everyone." Libby shook her head as she looked at Mr. Krabs who stood across the room, he had been staring at her on and off.
"That old fart is onto me, I have to play things on the low for a while." she informed, "I told you not to go into that room, but did you listen? Nooo."
"You didn't tell me nothing! You didn't tell me how hard this was going to be, all you said I had to do was get him to tell me what is in that bottle, you didn't tell me that I would have other people trying to interfere, I'm starting to think this whole thing is a terrible idea." she began to doubt everything.
"You better not quit on me, I paid too much money for you to walk away." Plankton scolded her, "You don't understand, it's not enough." Libby began to shake her head, "You've already made it this far. You cant quit on me, I can pay you more." Plankton began to beg.
Libby sighed, looking off at the crowd, she could slip out and no one would even notice, and she could ditch town, like nothing happened, but, talk of more money, if she was ever going to make it out of this place, she was going to need as much as she could get.
"How much more?" she asked, "Double what you have now, I promise, but you must get that formula." Plankton said determined to get what he wanted one way or another.
Libby sighed as she stared at the yellow sponge across the room, "I can try again, it'll take more time." she informed, "Take along as you can, but hurry, I've waited this long, I think I can wait a few more days."
"I'll get it." said Libby.
"Great, I'll leave you to it." Plankton said before he jumped down and disappeared into the crowd, leaving her to think to herself.
What was she getting herself into?
"Are you the one?" a random fish lady approached Libby, Libby turned to the woman, "What do you mean?" Libby asked, the girl shrugged, "I heard our little sponge got himself into a relationship, looking around, I can see you're the only other sponge here, and I couldn't help but notice that you couldn't quite keep your eyes off him, you think he's cute, don't you." the fish teased.
"Uh.." Libby looked back towards the point of their conversation, the way that the neon lights bounced off his frame, and his gentle smile, his outfit did look nice on him.
"Shubie." The pink fish introduced herself, "Libby." the sponge responded.
"Libby? Huh. You're a lot cuter then what everyone else says." Shubie said as she brushed her fin along Libby's salmon colored hair, "It's no wonder he's so nuts over you, you must drive him insane, for him to leave the single bachelor community." Shubie laughed.
"Seems like you know him pretty well." Libby noted, just how many girls did he know? "HAW!" Shubie laughed, "everyone knows who he is, you'd be a fool if you didn't."
"The most annoying sponge you'll ever meet, but he's got a heart of gold, you just don't see men like him anymore, you got lucky." Shubie rubbed Libby's back.
"Lucky?" Libby questioned, "Kind of, I mean, there have been a few chicks who tried to get close to him, but it always seemed to go over his head, like it is now." Shubie gestured to their friend, who was chatting with a few ladies unaware of their intentions.
"I Think you might need to save him." Shubie encouraged.
"You're So Funny, Spongebob." a lime green fish said as she batted her eyes, "You're right, he is funny, it's hard to find a man who is both good looking and funny these days." said a pink fish as she let her eyes roam the small sponges frame.
"You're right, he is very handsome, hey, you said you were waiting on someone right?" the green fish asked as she stepped closer to the sponge and began to rub his hand.
"Yes mame, I'm supposed to be meeting my girlfriend here." Spongebob reinformed as he took his hand aways and started to look around to see if she had arrived but still couldn't find her among the crowd, and he had begun to think that she might not have made it or decided not to come.
Meanwhile Libby continued to watch, waiting to see what the little man would do. The way they were touching him and petting him like he were a pet, as if they didn't hear what he had said, how could he be so oblivious to what was happening?
Seeing the way they treated him, she couldn't explain the feeling she was getting, was it jealousy? Pht, what would she have to be jealous of? It wasn't like he was that great, if they only knew how annoying, and ridiculous he was.
If they only knew how much of a pathetic, sad loser he was, how insignificant, with his stupid voice, that stupid contagious laugh, the way he dressed, it was… hmm, well? he looked kind of handsome in that plain shirt, and those gray jeans.
Ok, so maybe he didn't look too bad, but those stupid blue eyes, and those stupid lips, with that stupid tongue, how stupid it was the way he could make anyone forget what their motives were, just for a moment.
"You say you have a girlfriend, but we don't see her anywhere, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if one of us took you home tonight." the pink fish said as she began to rub Spongebob's arm before she was shoved off.
"I think she would mind Very much!" Libby's angered voice responded from the crowd.
Upon seeing his girlfriend the sponge brightened up, but his smile quickly faded as he seen the look of anger on her face.
"Hey! What's the big idea, huh?" The pink fish demanded an answer until she saw a shorter woman press her lips into her sponge.
Spongebob was shocked, not even sure what to do. It was so sudden and unexpected the way she pulled him in.
"Libby!" Spongebob gasped for a breath as he pulled her back a little. The look on her face however was too hard for him to resist, questions could be asked later but right now, he just wanted to focus on her, "You're so hot." Spongebob murmured before he pulled her back.
..
"Wow, they are so Into each other, and she's so pretty." Mrs. Puff said to Mr. Krabs, "Its Gross." Squidward shook his head, "She must be blind, or stupid or both to go out with him, when I'm clearly a much better match for her than he is." Squidward crossed his arms.
"Oh? And how is that?" Sandy glared at Squidward, "You're like twice their age, and I doubt you are her type." Sandy laughed, "She's No good." Mr. Krabs said as he glared at the young couple from across the room.
"What makes you say that? She looks like a nice young lady, and she looks like she's really into him." Mrs. Puff said, Mr. Krabs shook his head, "I don't believe it." he said before he started explaining what he had seen.
"So you think she's not good because she got lost and ended up In your office?" Squidward asked, "Maybe she didn't mean to, she is new to town and might not be familiar with the place yet." Mrs. Puff defended, "I don't buy it fer one second."
"So what are you going to do? Tell Spongebob, I don't think he would take it very well if he found out you yelled at his woman." Sandy said, "We'll just have to keep an eye on her, there's No way that someone as good lookin as that would want to be with Spongebob, Unless they were Paid." Mr. Krabs said.
"But who would pay for something like that?" Mrs. Puff asked, "I dunno, but I have a feelin, I'll be right back.
At the Chum Bucket
"The plan is working so well." Plankton bragged to his wife, "Although, I'll admit it's taking longer than we planned, I couldn't be happier, everything is running so smoothly." Plankton said as he worked on a couple exposed wires to his latest invention.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Karen asked, "Of course I'm sure, it's perfect." Plankton said, "what if it doesn't work?" Karen asked, "What do you mean? Do you not have faith in our little devil?" Plankton asked.
"I mean, what if she doesn't deliver? What if she actually falls in love with him?" Karen asked, Plankton laughed, "Did you really think I didn't have a second plan? In case something like that happened? It won't fail, Karen." Plankton said as he put on a welding mask.
"And what is this second plan?" Karen asked, Plankton laughed, "It's a surprise! But I will give you a hint, it will be one hell of a light show if she should fail." Plankton said before he started to laugh out loud.
"PLANKTON!" Mr. Krabs slammed the Chum Bucket doors open and marched into the building.
"Don't you ever knock?" Plankton asked as he turned back to his work, "Great way to ruin my evil laugh."
"Shut Up, I know what you're doing." Mr. Krabs pointed at Plankton, Plankton shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know what you're talking about." Plankton rolled his eye.
"Don't play dumb with me, you sent her didn't you?" Mr. Krabs shouted. Plankton covered his ears from Eugene's shouting, "Who did I send?" he asked. "Don't you play dumb with me." Mr. Krabs spat, "That harlot you sent after me boy, didn't ye." Mr. Krabs poked Plankton.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Spongebob has a girlfriend now? Who knew." Plankton acted surprised.
"Dont Talk to me like ya don't know what Im talking about, I've known you longer than anyone, of all the things you would do, This, is low, even fer you, that boy thinks that tramp is in love with him, why are ye trying to hurt the lad?" Mr. Krabs asked.
Plankton smiled a little, "How much are you paying her? I know she aint doin it fer nothin." Mr. Krabs said, but shook his head, thinking that it was pointless to be talking to him.
"$2,500. It's a lot, 1,200 to start, and 1,300 to finish the job." Plankton said, "but she Is good, from what I hear, she's already got him wrapped around her finger, and she hasn't even boned him yet, and when that happens, I'm willing to bet that he'll spill everything." Plankton laughed.
"He won't say a thing." Mr. Krabs said, "Are you sure about that?" Plankton grinned, even Mr. Krabs knew that it would happen if he wasn't there to stop it, "I won't let him." Mr. Krabs said as he went to leave, "So, you're gonna tell him everything? Do you really think he will believe you? Especially after he finds out how you yelled at her a few moments ago?" Plankton asked.
Mr. Krab turned to look at Plankton, "What? You didn't think I planned this did you? And what do you think would happen if you did tell him and he did believe you, oh man, he would be So heart broken, I bet he would lock himself away for months, crying, he might even quit his job, he found someone he truly loves more than your precious restaurant, and if you rip it away from him, he'll be a mess, which is fine by me. As long as he isn't there to stop me, that Formula is as good as mine." Plankton laughed.
Mr. Krabs just looked at Plankton with a look of terror, before he ran back to The Krusty Krab.
