Much had happened on the magical land of Chima, after many years the mysterious serpentine had made their presence known. Having made their first move and showcasing their new aerial fleet, Chima's animals now worry about when the time to attack will come. The crocodiles continue their bit to conquer the lands, making a united front against the enemy impossible. Whit few options left; the tribes now prepare for what's to come while trying to maintain the peace of the people.
On the outside of the Lion Temple, Laval and Leonidas are carrying a box full of stones. Struggling with the task Leonidas complained, "Huh, whose idea was it to build our city atop these ENDLESS stairs anyway!". "I don't know. Just don't drop these tribe stones, or we'll have to gari them all this way again," Laval responded, equally tired. The tribe stones, the very rocks that fell from Mount Cavora when it rose into the heavens, a precious resource for all the tribes.
Suddenly, a great earthquake shook the ground, all throughout Chima the various tribes reacted, from the dimwitted rhinos to the eccentric eagles, the quake shook all. So intense that it shook rocks and threatened to break homes, even interrupting a certain croc's tooth cleaning time. When it stopped, things continued as normal, "Woah, that was a big one!" Laval pointed out. "At least we didn't drop the tribe stones," Leonidas said relieved, until the crate broke and sent all the stones tumbling down the stairs.
"Ah no! Look out!" Laval called out to the lions down below, before a smaller tremor followed. "Oh no, my dad!" he said as he turned towards the temple, running to make sure his father was all right. Running throughout the temple he quickly found him standing by the Sacred Pool, staring toward the waters intently. From the center of the pool, a brilliant glow arose, taking the shape of a large golden orb of pure golden power. "Wow, that's the biggest golden chi ever!" Laval exclaimed excitedly. As he said this, one of the lion elders made his way toward the orb, a chi staff in hand. Grouching over the orb he brought the staff towards it, the orb surging with power as he did so. Nodding towards Lagravis, it was confirmed, "And it appears to be one of the strongest as well." the king informed his son, a smile on his face.
"Cool! Can we keep it!" Laval said with excitement. At this, Lagravis turned back to remind his son, "You know the rules son, a Chi this powerful cannot be kept by us, given away, or shared. A Chi like this must be raced for and won." "Even better! Then I'll win it in the monthly speedor race!" Laval said confidently. "Yes, you must! Less the power of this Chi falls into the wrong claws!" Lagravis said sternly to his son, knowing that their enemies would stop at nothing to gain an advantage but unwilling to break the rules, lest the whole of Chima fall to ruin.
Unbeknownst to them, a pair of brilliant red eyes materialized from a dark corner of the room. Slitted eyes narrowed with interest as a wicked smile crossed its fanged mouth. "Pythor is going to want to know about thisss," the enemy spy gleefully whispered to himself as he slithered away.
Back on the Crocodile Swamp, inside the empty halls of the throne room, Cragger is sitting on his throne playing with a wicket-clawed gauntlet in his hand when he hears the news. "The most powerful orb ever!" he exclaimed excitedly to the only other inhabitants of the room, Crooler, and Skales! "That's what they said," Crooler tells him wickedly. "Then I'll win it in the monthly speedor races!" he said with confidence.
"It is not time to play fairly, your majesty!" Skales told him as he slithered nearby. "But I…" Cragger begins before he is interrupted by Skales swirling red eyes. "You must do whatever it takes to beat the other racers!" he said intently. "I'LL CRUSH THEM ALL!" Cragger said suddenly, while the serpent grinned nearby. "Good, because I've arranged for my special pets to take a little bite of your competition! "Crooler says as she guides her brother toward a large pool further down the room. Inside the pool lay dozens of gnarly-looking fish, maws filled with needle-sharp teeth. "Don't worry, they'll be very discreet." She says as one jumps into the air trying to take a bite out of Cragger. "Discreet? I think we should try something that's bold, loud, and completely unbeatable!" he said with a wicked grin of his own, a plan already forming in his mind.
The day of the race had arrived, outside the Lion Temple, the animals of Chima gather in mass. The air sparked to live with excitement as the masses gathered on the front court, waiting for things to commence. All were excited, for today they would be witness to a momentous occasion, the biggest race ever!
As the competitors approach on their speedorz, the crowd cheers on. Laval, Eris, Gorzan, Rogon, and Skinnet make their way out, followed by Bladvic, Razar, Winzar, and finally Cragger. "I can't belief Cragger is here?" Eris says in a mixture of indignation and disbelief. "The rules say every tribe can compete, no matter how much trouble they've cost in the past," Laval explains to her, while trying to get his Speedor to start, smoke coming from his exhaust. "You need to fix that," Eris stated, matter-of-factly. "I know! I will!" Laval said defiantly. "One of us has to win this race, we can't let a chi THAT powerful go to the crocs, or the wolves!" she states with defiance of her own, the memories of recent events fresh on her mind.
Back by the Golden chi pedestal, Leonidas and Longtooth take watch, when suddenly one of them spots something, "Hey, Leonidas! Check out that guy way in the distance!" Longtooth points out. Way in the distance, across a field of trees, a lone figure rode on a speedor with great skill, "That must be the fastest speedor rider I've ever seen. Is he racing today?" Leonidas said excitedly as Lagravis walks up behind him. With a subtle cough, he got the guard's attention, letting them know that things were about to start and making them get into position.
Addressing the crowd, Lagravis proudly announces, "It is time for the Golden Chi to reveal today's course!" As the crowd erupts in a flurry of cheers, the two guards make their way over with the golden Chi in hand, delicately placing it on its pedestal, with had expanded to accommodate the large orb, they prepared to watch its work. As golden energy tendrils burst forwards from the orb the ground before them is transformed into a magnificent obstacle course of epic proportions. Taking the role of an announcer, the eagle 'divebombing-daredevil' known as Equila takes to the skies, "HELLO CHIMA! Get ready race fans, the Chi is choosing today's track. Is it going to be a test of speed, agility, or strength? Nobody knows!" he declares loudly as the chi continues its work. By the time it is finished, the course had been chosen, " Oh, it looks like we are getting wet today, with the Hazards of Hydrocity!"
"Water! I hate water." Laval said dejectedly, while Cragger was filling with glee. " Yes, so glad I trained in the swamp all week!" declared the croc king happily. Walking over to his friends Gorzan tries to reassure them," Dudes, don't worry about Cragger! He's a total poser compared to the REAL star of this race." He says confidently. "And that may be?" Laval asked intrigued.
Suddenly, a new contender saunters their way to the arena. A bird with brilliant azure plumage and stunning tail feathers, the peacock speed champion of Chima, "Dom de la Woosh, he has arrived!" said the newcomer, voice full of charisma as he spins for his adoring fans.
"No way, the Dom de la Woosh is here? But he hasn't raced in years." Laval exclaimed, voice equal parts awed and confused. "Dom de la Wooooshhh!" Eris swoons in admiration, awestruck by the legend's presence.
Confetti flies as Dom shows up for his adoring fans, catching everyone's attention. "Woah folks, Equila the eagle here again and it looks like we are in for a treat today. As Chima's most famous rider ever will be racing today, Dom de la Woosh!" Equila announces excitedly as he flies toward the old racer, "How about a few words for your fans Mr. Woosh?" he asks. Looking to the audience, Dom turns to the microphone and says, "Thank you, thank you, the Woosh loves you all!" he says as the crowd grows wild with applause. Eris swoons once again as Laval looks over to her in disbelief, " Come on are you serious? Don't you think he's a little too much?" he asks her. "Too much, you use to love Dom de la Woosh! You never missed a race, remember? You've go with Cragger." Eris said indignantly, making Laval think of times gone past. Laval remembers a time when he was younger, excitedly watching Woosh race with daring maneuvers next to Cragger, the two friends cheering him on. When the races were over, they would go on and practice, fighting for who was "the better Woosh". He remembered those times fondly; those were the days. Spotting his old friend across the field, he marched over to him, hoping to reconnect over those simpler times.
"Hey, Cragger." he said calmly. "What do you want!" responded the croc. "I don't know, seeing Dom de la Woosh reminded me of when we were kids. We used to watch him and try to be the better Woosh, remember?" he said hopefully, only to be turned down with a firm "No!" from a disinterested Cragger. "Come on, you must?" he tried again, only to be crushed again. "Is there anything else you want?" Was all he got from his old best friend. "No," he said, feeling dejected. "Good, then leave!" was all Cragger could respond with. Distraught, Laval walked back over to his speedor, Eris noticing him asks, "Let me guess, he was a jerk?" "Yeah, I don't get it. He acts like he doesn't remember anything! We used to be such good friends. I mean, it wasn't that long ago, was it?" he said sadly.
As the racers made their way to the starting line, Plovar made his way through, "Ah Plovar, just the bird I was looking for. Think you can freshen me up?" Cragger tells him confidently before the bird flew by him. "Sorry, no time!" Plovar responds as he makes his way to Dom. "Hello, superstar! Little Plovar is here to make your shine divine." He says with a giggle, only to be got off-guard by the Peacocks luster. "No, it can't be! Your already perfect!" He says in disbelief, causing Dom to respond, "Yes, de Woosh he knows." before continuing on his way. As he finally makes his way to the starting line, the other racers swarm him, Eris, in particular, getting him to give her an autograph. Rushing over to Laval she says, "Hey, check it out! Dom de la Woosh signed my wing. Isn't he amassing!" she exclaims in admiration. Laval sighs in exasperation, before noticing Cragger talking with de la Woosh, "Woah, those two know each other? I mentioned Woosh before and Cragger acted like he didn't even remember him! Now they look like friends?" he said accusatorily. "I wish Woosh was friends with me!" said Eris cooing in admiration, stuck in her fangirl fantasies. "Eris! Will you stop that, something not right here?" Laval tells her with concern.
Back in the courtyard, Lagravis prepares to announce the start of the race," Racers, start your speedorz!" he exclaims excitedly. As the racers begin to rev their engines, Laval's speedor begins lacking causing him to exclaim with a simple, "Oh no!". As the festivities commence with a bang as the racers begin the trek, from the air Equilla begins his commentary, "And their off, look at the Woosh go!" As said racer made his way to the lead, showboating by beginning to slide off the edge of his vehicle, making the public and the other racers gasp in awe. Meanwhile, on the starting line, Laval still struggles to get his speedor to move, " Ahh, I was so distracted by the Woosh that I forgot to fix this thing!" he says as he roars in frustration. This roar causes the sleeping Bladvic to wake up and begin the race, "Uhh, even the sleeping bear is beating me." Laval comments, his frustration growing larger. Back with the race, Equilla continues to brattle on, "Mud, speed, danger, today's race is wild, wet, and wow, wow, wow!" he says as the contestants make a tight turn and jump to ramps in a bit to reach first place. "We have a tight battle for first, between Dom de la Woosh and, let's be honest, a bunch of other racers that nobody cares about." The announcer said truthfully.
Back on the starting line, Laval continues trying to start his speedor, becoming more frustrated, "I was saving this for a special occasion, but now I don't have a choice. I either stay stuck in the starting line or take a chance with some chi." he says as he pulls a chi orb and proceeds to plug it in. As the chi's power flows through his body his engine begins to start, quickly speeding him forward at a great pace, but at the cost of maneuverability. The speeder has become difficult to control, but Laval is determent to see this race through, so steeling himself he continues onwards. Rapidly catching up to the other contestants, Laval manages to pass them, aiming to beat Cragger at fast as he can. Making his way through the obstacles, he drives off the side of canyons and jumps over a waterfall without problems. This sentiment however was not true for the others, "Running water makes me gassy, everything makes me gas." Cries out a discouraged Skinnet as he takes the lead with a stink-powered propulsion. He cries out an apology to the others behind him as he continues moving on. "Looks like we have some running action on the back there, but did you see what the Woosh just did!" Equilla comments while de Woosh does a handstand off his speedor. Cutting back to a determent Gorzan we see a speeding Laval passing him by, "Dude, you chi'ed your speedor. That's really risky and awesome! Hope it lasts the whole race." He calls out from behind him.
On another part of the track, Crooler is enacting her plan. Backing up a crocodile tank she gives the command, "Release the biters!" she orders Crug and Crawley. The duo opens the hood of the vehicle and releases the fish into the waters of the track while laughing maniacally. From the skies Aquilla announces the next event, "Here comes the swamp jump, a difficult challenge, unless you're the best racer around, Dom de la Woosh!" he says as said racer makes it to the jump and expertly avoids the jumping fish around him. Reacting to it Aquilla makes a comment, "Woah, seems like this hazard has a little extra bite." He warns, adding one of his bellowed puns. Eris is the first racer to notice the biting fish jumping all around, making her concern known with a resounding, "What is that!" Expertly dodging the fish Cragger easily makes it to the jump, following in second place. The others are not so lucky, Worriz having been wiped out by the fish causing him to crash out of the race. "Uh, that wolf packs it in." Aquilla comments at the turn of events, "But the eagle airs it out" he continues as Eris makes the jump. Razar is the next racer to make it to the jump, but the fish cause him to lose control although he manages to regain it, "That was easy." He says with glee before he is jumped by more fish latching into his arms and causing him to crash. The announcer continues, "Oh that raven, no one can save him!" he says as Razar dusts himself. Laval is the next to make it, managing to clear the jump mostly unscathed. Gorzan follows him, the ever-friendly gorilla taking the time to stop and look at the fishes, "Woah, I've never seen you squicklely wigglely before. Names Gorzan please to meet you." He says reaching a hand out before the fish jumps up and takes a bite out of him. Bummer.
The race continues, with the racers doing their best to avoid the fish, Eris being briefly swarmed, while Laval took out his sword to defend himself from the flying menaces. "Bite through that you water beast!" he gloats as he manages to make it to the front, passing Dom de la Woosh! "Ehh, the Woosh, he has been passed?" the old racer says to himself in shock, only to be surprised again by Cragger making it through him, "What, he is passed again!" The race continues, a fierce battle for the top stop taking place as the public is amazed, "Holy Cavora, there must be some mistake, our race leader Dom de la Woosh is no longer on the race lead!" the announcer comments as the next challenge is coming up. "But here come the caves, riders can knock chi into them for light or use the chi they already have," he says as Laval makes it to the caves first, not stopping on his road to victory. He is followed by Cragger, who knocks some chi into the cave, and then by the Woosh, coming up in third place. Inside the caves, Laval is taking the lead, until his chi starts to fade, "Ahh, my speedor is draining the chi power from my body faster than I thought. Come on, just a little more." He says as he struggles to make it out of the caves, however, he wasn't fast enough and had already been passed by the others. As Cragger and Don fought for first place, Dom manages to pass him, "Out of the caves! Victory once again calls itself Dom de la Woosh." Aquilla said from above. But suddenly, an unexpected surprise came upon the racers, from the brush two more competitors made their presence known. "What's this? Two new late addition have made their way to the competition, and it appears to be SNAKES!" the announcer yells out in shock.
What?!" was the common thought from everyone, especially Cragger, "What are those scale bags doing here!" he wondered. Easily weaving through the obstacles before them, the two snakes made their way behind Laval, attempting to knock him from his spot. "Out of the way lion! That Chi is as good as ours!" one of them said, a green scout by the name of Lasha. "What are you guys doing here, you can't compete!" Laval cried out in anger. "All tribes can compete, correct? Isn't that what your precious rules say? Well, that includes us!" he said, bumping into the lion once again. Lasha had always had skill in motorcraft and in the years that had followed their arrival had become the best speedor driver in the tribes. This was shown by how skillfully he avoided the obstacles around him, avoiding every stone the road had to throw at him, unfortunately, Laval was skilled too, and he was armed. Having gotten fed up with their attempt to bump him off the road, he had pulled out his sword and used it to trip Lasha's speedor of course. With this, he gathered all the energy in him and made it to a log bridge and the following jump, just behind Cragger and the Woosh. As they made it to the other side, de Woosh had the lead with Cragger inches behind him. "Even in second place the Woosh continues to dominate!" Aquilla said as Cragger managed to pass the veteran racer. Laval quickly followed causing him to continue, "Third is the word for the big dog, but let's face it, no one can beat Dom de la Woosh, even the racers that are beating him now!" the announcer said with confidence. As they made it to the mud pits, Laval was beginning to lag behind, earning a sly remark from Cragger, "Forget it Laval, mud, dirt, slime, this is my territory!" he bragged as he knocked him to the side, causing him to crash into a rock and be flung into the waters. Securing the first spot, he was caught off guard by the two snakes having come up behind him. "All right, what is your deal? What are you guys doing here!" he demanded from the two snakes. "Pythor grows tired of your failures, we can not allow this chi to go to our enemies, so he sent us for insurance." They responded with a laugh, before proceeding to try to pass him. "Woah, what are you doing we are on the same side," Cragger called out. "Your people may be our ally, but that doesn't mean victory is for you to claim!" Lasha said pridefully, enjoying the race and wanting to see the other races' faces when they handed him the chi! With rage in his eyes, Cragger followed suit, fighting for the glory of victory against his presumed allies.
Back on the water, Laval is struggling to reach the surface as the fishes begin to surround him from all sides. Desperate to breach the surface, he is suddenly pulled up by a mysterious hand. Coughing for air he turns to thank his savior, "Thanks Dom de la Woo…" he begins to say before noticing who stood before him, a mysterious masked rider covered in black armor, with red markings and a cape. His masked face featured a blue visor, two long tusks sprouting from the sides of his face, and a long red mohawk atop the helm. He stared at Laval as he continued talking, "I thought the Woosh was behind me." he said confused when suddenly the Woosh appeared from behind and passed them without giving them a second glance. Getting back to the race, the mysterious rider takes off leaving Laval with his thoughts, "I should have known it wasn't him." he said watching them go. Quickly passing the other contestants, the mysterious rider made his way to the front of the line, earning him the ire of the crocodile king, "Hey who are you!" he said annoyed as he was passed, "Oh no, you don't. That golden chi is mine!" he called out, while behind him the serpentine had other concerns. "It's him, oh no, not now, not here. This changes everything, between what is happening back home and now this! We must inform Pythor, forget the race!" they said as they made their way out of the course, rushing towards the outlands.
Back with the race, the battle for the first spot raged on, the mysterious new rider easily maintaining the lead. "Now fair, he's beating me fairly!" Cragger cried out as he was losing speed, relinquishing his spot. Pulling out his weapon, he prepared to strike his competition out. Tossing it at him, the weapon boomeranged around and nearly knocked him out instead. As they neared the finish line Equilla was back on the scene, "Coming down the final stretch, a new racer takes the lead with astonishing speed! But is not Dom de la Woosh so, do we really care?" he said, his favoritism in the front once again. Responding to him, Cragger angrily said, "I do!" as he desperately tried to catch up. But it was all for not, as the new racer quickly made his way to the finish line as the announcer clearly said, "And the winner is, well I don't know who he is." He said sincerely as he flew down towards him. "Ah, hello. Anybody home." He said trying to gain his attention, " That was quite some race there, you were quick as the wind and as mysterious as a shadow! So, ahh, let's hear it for ShadoWind!" he said to a lackluster crowd. But suddenly, Dom crossed in third place and the crowd went wild, "But more importantly, a big whooshing finish for our champion the Woosh!" he said happily. Responding to the fanfare, Dom takes a spin off his speedor declaring, Dom de la Woosh is the winner!" he says to his adoring fans. "No, he isn't, he came in third!" Cragger yelled out annoyed.
After the festivities were over, ShadoWind made his way towards the center courtyard, where Lagravis awaited the prize in hand. "You have won the most powerful golden orb of chi ever! Use it well, use it wisely! And is there anything you would like to say, like your name or thanks?" he said contently yet curious. Without saying a word, the mystery racer just turned around and made his way out. "Who is this ShadoWind." Laval said in awe before an enraged Cragger marched forwards declaring, 'I'll show you who he is!" as he tried jumping him, but he wasn't fast enough and ended up faceplanting as the racer left the court. Not content with this, he got into his speedor and gave chase. 'Come on, let's make sure Cragger doesn't do something too crazy." Laval said as he and Eris followed him on their own speedorz. Giving chase, the trio made it to the woods, before they lost their target, "That guy is fast, even when he's carrying a huge orb of chi." Laval said impressed. "He has to stop sometime, that's when I'll find him and destroy him!" said Cragger, his rage reaching its boiling point, "I don't think he hears you." Retorted Laval, earning him a simple, "He will, one of these days." courtesy of Cragger. "Good luck catching the fastest rider Chima has ever seen," Eris said nonchalantly. "Yeah, I use to want to be Dom de la Woosh, now I'd rather be like ShadoWind, he's just pure speed," Laval said, while Cragger was glaring at an old Woosh figure. Noticing Laval asked," Hey is that…" he began before Cragger hid the toy crawling at him, "Mind your own business, Laval!" "So, you do remember," Laval said happily. "Remember what! All I remember is that I am certain, forever, and ever, the better Woosh!" he cried out as he turned back the way home. "I knew it! He still remembers! He remembers the better Woosh, and he remembers when we were friends! They may still be hope for me and that cooky croc." Laval said excitedly. "The better Woosh?" Eris asked confused. "I'll explain on the way home!" he said as they made their way back.
On their way back home, they meet with an unexpected figure riding beside them, "Dom de la Woosh, is that you!" Laval said. "Oh, het. Great race today you two!" he said to his fellow racers. "No? You had a great race, didn't you? Eris asked her hero curiously. He sights before responding, "The Woosh, he is very, very tired." He says solemnly. "Is everything ok," Eris asks worryingly. "The Woosh, he shouldn't have done the racing today. But the croc, he was so convincing." He responded, shocking the other two. "What, Cragger asked you to race?!" Laval asks him in disbelief. "Yes, Plovar, he connect us. The crocodile, he wants the Woosh to be the distraction at the other racers. So this Cragger, maybe he win." He confessed to him. "You were working with Cragger!" Eris says outraged at the revelation. "The Woosh, he regrets this." He says sadly. Pondering, Laval then asks, "So then, why did you do it?" he asks him. "The Woosh, he missed the fans. Today he raced, he heard the cheers of his kin. He feels the Woosh." He says as he reminisces. "Let me get this straight, you needed attention, Cragger needed to win, he thought you would help?" she repeats back to him angrily. "That rotten croc! No wonder he didn't remember anything!" Laval said in outrage. "Yes, lion. But you race the greatest just the same. Your run at the beginning, incredible." The Woosh tells him. "Really?" Laval responds, not believing what he has heard. "If not for the ShadoWind, I think you win. "You are one of the best riders the Woosh has ever seen," he tells him with certainty. Laval is left speechless, while the Woosh prepares to leave," Now, if you don't mind de la Woosh has the retirement waiting." "Later," Eris says, still annoyed by the revelation. "Wow, did you hear that? My hero thinks I'm incredible!" he says with giddy. "Your hero? Come on, he's just some needy old racer helping a croc!" Eris cried out again. "But I'm incredible! I didn't win that golden chi, but today was one of my greatest victories ever!" he said, still riding the high given to his ego. "Whatever. Think this autograph will come off easy?" Eris asked, already over it. "How about this! I sign it instead! I'm incredible you know," Laval says proudly. "Let's get home, while your ego can still fit in the lion compound," Eris says, annoyed by her friend's behavior as the two young riders make their way home.
Back in the Outlands, a different kind of conversation is taking place. "Are you sure it was him?" Pythor asks the scouts kneeling before him. "Yes, our lord, we're sure of it!" they responded frighteningly. "I see, and you didn't think of STOPPING him from getting the chi!" he yelled at them in anger. "We knew we could beat him; you know this as much as us, he's too fast. And without winning that chi, the other tribes would have attacked us in an instant." Lasha said, reading for forgiveness. "Be that as it may, this complicates things, I fear we can wait no longer! Contact Crooler at once! Come next month, we attack with everything we have!" he ordered from his darkened throne.
"Chima and all its chi are as good as ours."
