Change is coming to Chima, the conniving Serpentine now rule the land, turning the tribes against each other. Holding the precious chi orbs hostage, they seek to control them all. But hope is not yet lost, for our heroes seek to oppose them, with the help of an unexpected ally.
In the Sanctuary jungle, inside Lagravis' tent, an unexpected visitor seeks an audience, Cragger. "You have a lot of nerve coming here Cragger!" Lagravis snarls from his sit, looking down at the croc before him. "I know I have done a lot of bad things in the past months, but it wasn't my fault! Crooler and the snakes were controlling me somehow! I'm not sure how I broke free, but I want to make up for what I have done!", he pleads to Lagravis, truly sorry for his actions. "Very well, now tell me, what do you mean by beating them at their own game?" he asks the ex-king of the crocodiles. Cragger looked at him with a toothy smile, "It's quite simple, they once sought to steal the chi from the temple, so now we will do the same.", he said as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
"What!" Lagravis cried out in outrage, "Do you really expect us to steal the chi, we can't even get close to the temple!" he told him in disbelief. Seeing his father's temper rising Laval decided to intervene, "I know it sounds crazy Dad, believe me, I was the same way, but hear him out a little more. Ok?" he pleaded. With a heavy sigh, Lagravis agreed, "Fine, tell me what exactly you had in mind Cragger?" Giving him a slight smirk, he replied, "While it is true that you cannot steal all that chi by yourself, I did not try to steal it by myself either. You need to find allies, succeed in one successful heist, and prove to the others that they can be beaten. Right now, they are trying to scare us, to turn us against each other. Why? Because they're afraid of us! If we can get all the tribes together, we can beat those treacherous freaks back to the outlands!" Cragger finished with conviction. Looking up at the young king, Lagravis could help but be surprised. While it was still a risky move, he had to admit that it had potential, even if he did have to break one of his most sacred rules. "It goes against everything we believe in, but perhaps the time for change is finally upon us! So be it, Cragger we will try this plan of yours!" he says reluctantly.
"Yes, now we just have to find us some help!" Laval cried out excitedly, thinking that things were finally going up for themselves.
Driving through the empty roads of Chima, Laval, and his friends find that gathering a crew is much more difficult than one would expect. "I don't get it; we've gone to both the rhinos and the bears, and they both said no!" he shouts out as he remembers the encounters earlier that day. The group arrives at the Rhino Quarry only for the rhinos to laugh at them before they leave, while the bears merely murmured to themselves before telling them that they had to "Sleep on it" first, before promptly falling asleep. "Well, you can't exactly blame the theme, those snakes have everyone terrified, not many would be willing to put their tribes at risk by angering them," Eris explains to him, understanding the situation, yet still disappointed. "Yeah, I know, even the gorillas are only offering us sanctuary, at least the eagles are onboard, right Eris?" Laval asks his friend hopefully. "Only as transport, I don't think we are cut out for thieves?" she informs him as they continue their way. "Don't worry guys, I'm sure the next tribe will definitely be up for it! After all, what better thief out there than the ravens!" Cragger adds excitedly, hopeful his old allies would still help him.
Arriving in Raven Town, they dismount before the gates ready to meet the greedy tribe. The raven's home was composed of many ramshackle buildings that for the most part resembled houses. The town is filled with junk and debris, which the Ravens hoard and plan to sell, it also has many treasures hidden in the rubbish, which are the profits that the Ravens have accumulated from making deals and stealing valuables. Walking into the town they where quickly met by Rawzom and Razar, the latter being the first one to speak, "Ah, my friends! What brings you to our fair town." Unbeknown to our heroes, while the raven merc appeared friendly towards them, he was signaling for the others from behind. "Razar, my old acquaintance! Do I have an offer for you! Cragger said rapidly, deciding to handle this situation. "How would you like to be a part of the greatest chi heist in all of Chima!" he said to him, preying on their greed to gain their help. "My, my, a heist you say. Well, now color me intrigued, and your friends over there are in on it?" Razar asked as he pointed over to Laval and Eris. Laval was quick to answer, replying with conviction, "This is a special occasion, we just need your help carrying the heist out." He made it clear to the Ravens. "I see, and what would be our cut of this?" Razar asked, slightly intrigued at the prospect. "Only what your tribe needs, we plan to share it with the rest of the tribes. To get them to help us fight the serpentine!" Laval responded truthfully. "I see, I see, and how many others ARE in on this little heist of yours?" Razar said with a hint of seriousness in his voice. "Well, just the lions and the eagles so far, it's why we need your help! Just think of it, your tribe helping to free Chima, that has to be good for business, right?" Cragger quickly responded, trying to maintain the situation. At this, Razar turned over to Rawzom, the two discussing things among themselves before deciding to act. After a few more minutes of debating, Razar was the first to give an answer, "You drive a hard bargain my friend, but unfortunately we'll have to decline." he said clearly.
"What! Why! This is the chance of a lifetime!" Cragger cried out in surprise. "It's what your tribe is good at!" Eris added. "Please, it's for the sake of all of Chima!" Laval finished. "True, true, all very good points, it's just that the snakes offered us a better deal," Razar said smugly, before the group was surrounded by armed ravens from all sides, their weapons drawn squarely on them. "They have offered a handsome reward for you all, double the chi just to turn you in, who could say no to that? But don't worry, we're willing to share it with the rest of the tribes, for a price that is." He says before he too draws his weapon at them. "You good for nothing feather duster, I'll clip your wings for this!" Cragger cries out angrily. "Now, now, Cragger it's nothing personal, but unless you can prove that you can actually carry out this plan of yours, we just can't risk being caught with you, it would be bad for business," he said with a smile on his face.
Suddenly, Laval jumped forward knocking Razar to the ground before blocking the incoming fire from above. Cragger quickly backed him up, taking out some of the other ravens around him, and knocking them around with his axe. Laval continued to march forwards, engaging in frontal combat against the ravens. Getting back on his feet, Razar grabbed a spear and charged forwards, only to be met by Cragger's axe, "I can't believe you would side with those snakes!" he growled as he pushed onwards. Razar matched his pull and retorted, "We don't like it any more than you do. But sometimes you must work with people like that for profit, but hey, if you can manage to pull it off, be happy to come back." He says before and enraged Cragger pushes him back. Taking to the skies, Eris battled the approaching ravens, buying the group some time to get to their vehicles, and making a hasty escape, "Quicky, we have to get out of here!" she cries out as they jumped on their rides and hit the road.
From inside Raven Town, one of the ravens called Rizzo landed next to Razar and asked, "Should we follow them?" Razar just looked at him and shrugged, "Why? We already did our part." He said nonchalantly, knowing that the serpentine would be able to hurt them, and secretly wishing the group luck.
Back on the roads of Chima, Laval, and his friends are still shaken from the previous encounter, mad at how their luck had been. "Well, that was a bust," Eris said, being the first to break the silence. "Tell me about it, we need to make this heist work if we want the Ravens to help!" Laval replied to everyone's surprise. "You still want those traitors to help!" Cragger cried out in anger, "Just leave them to their fate!" he told him. "We can't do that Cragger, even if we manage to pull this off, we'll still need their help in kicking the serpentine out!" Laval reminded his friend. "No to mention the fact that we still need allies, before all of Chima is against us," Eris said sorrowfully. "Exactly, but who else is there, the beavers? How are they going to help us!" Laval ads, dejected. "Well, there is one tribe we haven't tried yet?" Cragger suggests. "NO, you can't mean them!" Laval says vigorously. 'What choice do we have, we need numbers, they have numbers!" Cragger adds matter-of-factly. "They hate us, they're probably the first to have sided with the serpentine!" exclaimed Laval with exasperation. "Laval, you know I don't like this any more than you, but he has a point." Eris adds, much to Laval's chagrin. "Fine, I can't believe we have to rely on the wolves for help!' he whines. "Neither can I," Eris responds before turning towards their camp.
The Wolf Encampment, the current home of the nomadic wolves, was a place where visitors were seldom welcomed, much less encouraged. Few dare come uninvited, only the crocs were the exception to this rule, and even they were only tolerated, to come here for help meant that they were truly no other options. Rolling over to the gates, the gang was welcomed with an unexpected sight. Worriz, leader of the wolves, waiting for them on the front, "Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in, himself! Hah, I was wondering when you would show up." He said with his gravelly voice, smirking at the sight before him. Having no time to waste, Laval spoke first, "Look Worriz, I know we have had our differences in the past, but we need your help. I don't care what the Serpentine offers you, they can't be trusted! Surly you know this!" he told him. Sensing the tension, Eris spoke up, "We're not looking for a fight Worriz, please just listen to us." was all she said. Worriz just scowls at them, staring intensely at them, before he turns around and gestures for them to follow. Surprised, Laval thanked him, "Woah, thanks Worriz. I didn't expect this…" before he was quickly interrupted, "I'm only allowing this because of Cragger, now be quick before we change our minds. With no objections, they quietly followed him toward the main tent.
Inside, surrounded by a large table, they all gathered to discuss this so-called alliance. "You know, you are very lucky, we normally would have no qualms about turning you over. But fortunately for you, we hate those snakes even more, you lions were bossy but at least you didn't get in our business. So, here's the deal, we want double the Chi from the heist." Worriz said calmly. "What! Wait, how did you know about the heist." Laval asked, both perplexed and outraged. "Oh, a little birdy told us," he said, while pulling out a raven feather, "So, we have a deal or not!" he continued unbudgingly. "No way, the hold point in this is restoring the balance, not just giving to someone else," Laval said firmly. "Chima is already unbalanced with those snakes sitting around, even if your heist works, we're just evening the field a little!" the wolf said with a wicked grin. Stepping in, Cragger intervened, "No way Worriz! Besides, you have to listen to me, the pledge demands it!" he said with authority. Scoffing, Worriz continued, "Yes, the pledge. Except, another little birdie let it slip that your no longer king, are you?" he said while smirking. "How did you!" he began, before the only reasonable answer came to mind, "Plovar!" Amused, Worriz answered, "Correct! He came begging for our help in saving his, Craggy Waggie", ha!" he said with a laugh. "Wait, what do you mean? What pledge?" Eris asked. "The Pledge of the Pack. Years ago, during our "alpha troubles", wolves were scavengers back then, always fighting amongst themselves to be the tribe's alpha male. Until the crocodile king Crominus saved us, he taught us to live and fight as one. For this we gave him, the Pledge of the Pack, promising to forever assist the king of the Crocs. For better or for worse!" Worriz recounted. "That pledge still binds us, meaning Crooler is now in command, however, we are willing to compromise. You were a poor excuse for a king before, and Crooer is even worse! She didn't even take over the throne directly, so we are willing to help you instead for one condition!" he said with a straight face. Feeling powerless, Cragger relented, "And what is that condition exactly?" he asked weakly. "We help you, and you'll destroy it, freeing us from any future obligations! What do you say?"
Cragger felt as if his hold world was falling apart, his father's legacy was being destroyed and he could do nothing about it. He had lost the throne of the Crocs, and now he was asked to destroy one of his father's greatest accomplishments! But what choice did he have? "Fine, I'll do it! You help us and I'll free you from it." he said, no emotion in his voice. With a wicked grin, Worriz extended his paw for a shake, a shake that Cragger reluctantly returned. "We have a deal! Awhoooo!" Worriz exclaimed with a mighty howl, the other wolves joining in the celebration. "Cragger. You didn't have to…" Laval started before Cragger spoke up, "It's all right Laval, what's done is done! Let's focus on getting Chima back. "he said, conviction and rage in his voice as he determinedly stared towards a map the wolves had brought in. "Luckily for you all, we have been planning on how to do a raid for a while, so we have a plan already," Worriz said as he showed them what he had planned, Laval just rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Just two things missing, some heavy firepower and a distraction!" he said with a glint in his eyes as he stared at the group.
It was finally time, the plan had been set, the pieces were in motion, and all that was missing was the bait. The plan was simple, using what chi remained, they would fire at the wall next to the sacred pool, aiming to both crack the wall and drive out the giant serpent from below, when that was done they would swoop in and distract the beast, and hopefully the attention of the other snakes on the temple, allowing the remaining members to sneak in and steal as much chi as they could before they where caught. A simple plan, and an extremely risky one at that. Looking over at the strategy laid before him, Lagravis had to relent, "This could work, but we have only one shot at this, are you sure we can pull it off." he asked his son. "Positive, Dad! Cragger, Eris, and I have agreed to engage the serpent, while you and the wolves work on cracking the wall and taking the chi. I know it's risky, but I'm willing to do it, for Chima!" he said confidently. "You have grown so much Laval, I only wished it didn't have to happen under these circumstances." Lagravis said with a sigh, "All right! We move at nightfall!"
Later, at dusk, the respected parties lay in wait, nerves high, but so was their determination. Waiting for the right moment to strike they started their engines, plugging the last of their Chi as their tanks came to life. To think they would now be attacking the very fortress they were meant to defend, the Lions could only laugh, but it did come with some advantages. As the clouds passed across the moon, they stroked. Blast after blast knocked against the wall, each hitting a precise weak spot in the brickwork. As the temple shook from side to side, cracks began to form. From inside the serpentine stumbled as they were knocked around. "Earthquake!: one of them yelled as he trashed from corner to corner. From the throne, Pythor hung on for dear life, "No you fool, we're under attack! Release the serpent!" he cried with all his might. As the tanks continued their onslaught, they could hear the very same hissing that now haunted their nightmares, as giant red eyes slithered from the darkness, they continued. Phase two had begun, Cragger and Laval chi-upped and rushed to their speedorz while Eris provided cover fire from above, it was their time to fight! "Time for some payback you overside belt!" Laval roared as he rushed forward, sword outstretched as he drifted around the massive snake. "Not wanting to be left out of the action, Cragger soon joined, "Yeah you overgrown garter snake! This is for my tribe and for everything else you've made me do you serpentine creep!" he bellowed as he sliced upon it with his axe. From above, Eris opened fire, mercilessly firing along the snaked body before hitting him on the head. But the snake was resilient, shrugging off the blast, it merely hissed up above before striking towards the sky. Narrowly missing, Eris managed to dodge out of the way, while their friends ran over his tail, eliciting a cry of pain from the supersized serpent. As this happened the tanks continued firing, until with one final blast from Lagravis, the wall crumbled as a sizeable hole appeared in its place. As panic consumed the temple, many a warrior ran towards the battlefield, either on foot or on atop vehicles of their own. With the wall now broken, the tanks moved in to join the fight, as Laval and Cragger continued to distract the massive snake. "We're doing it Cragger, we're nearly there! Woohoo, I missed fighting by your side old fried." Laval said excitedly. "Yeah, so do I Laval." Cragger started, before noting that the serpentine had joined the fray, among the many types present, one stood out to him. The blue and white visage of the hypnobrai, seeing the very snakes that had taken his home sent him in a rage! Turning around, he called back to Laval, "I'm going to help the others on the ground!" he yelled as he surged forward. "Wait what! Woah!" he said as he dodged a tail whip from the serpent. "Getting feisty hah, well come and get me!" he yelled, as he quickly forgot about Cragger and continued to run circles around the snake.
From above the rocks Winzar the wolf let out a howl, signaling for the others that their time was up. Woriz was the first to hear it, "That's our signal!" he cried out as multiple wolves charged to the temple. "Their defenders are far enough away!" he shouts out as his group made their way towards the hole. As he walks with his tribe to the temple, he takes out his blade before continuing, "Leaving the temple to us!" he says with a smile as he proceeds to chi-up with a howl as the others make it inside the temple walls. The wolves growl while going inside and cornering every snake there. "OUT OF OUR WAY!" he yells while he batters the remaining guards away. They quickly begin to fill more and more bags full of chi before a loud hiss catches their attention. Looking up they see Pythor and his Anacondrai guard behind him, stopping Wakz and Wilhurt from collecting any more chi. "You mangy dogs, I'll have your pelts for this!" Pythor begins before he is kicked by Woriz. Buying them mere moments, Woriz runs outside while calling for the others, "We got what we came for! LET'S GO!" as they quickly retreat. From inside, Pythor furiously gets upright before yelling at his guards, "Well don't just stand there, stop them you fools!
Amid the battlefield, Cragger rammed onto his opponents with no mercy, swinging his axe from side to side, sending anyone across the sky. He heard the distinctive rattle of the Hypnobrai, but instead of fear it only made him angrier, ramming ahead at double speed. Engaging with a scout, he launched himself from his speedor and tackled him to the ground. "No listen here you sack of scales, you're going to tell me how to snap everyone out of your spell or I start chomping!" he cried out in anger as he shook the snake around. "You have no hope in defeating usss! The antivenom is in our staffs and you will never get them, you mud lover!" the scout said with a laugh, mocking Cragger with his voice. Enraged, Cragger prepared to end it, before he noticed the wolves running away behind him. Releasing the scout, he got on his speedor to help them out, catching up to them before the guards could get to them. "Hurry, get to the forest, and let's go already!" he cried to them as he decided to regroup with the others. The tanks were already retreating, their charge nearly spent, but Laval and Eris continued fighting, dodging the giant serpent that got ever closer to them. The snake nearly caught Laval, if not for the timely arrival of Cragger. Pushing his friend out of the way, they narrowly avoided its jaws, resulting in the snake biting its own tail. "Thanks, Cragger!" Laval said with a pant, nearly exhausted from the ordeal. "Don't mention it, now let's go! We already got what we came for!" he told him before making a beeline for the forest. Laval and Eris follow close behind.
Back in the Lion camp, Lagravis and the elders are dividing the goods from the heist. "There, that's your cut Worriz, use it well, use it wisely." He told him reluctantly. "Oh, don't worry, we will!" Worriz responds with a grin as he and the wolfs prepare to leave. "And Cragger, don't forget our agreement!" he called back as they made their way to their encampment, a move was in order. "I can't believe we actually gave them double!' Laval told his father still in disbelief. "I know Laval, I don't like it either. But a deal is a deal, even when we don't like it! But fret not, I believe change is coming. The game may have changed, but together I believe we can win this!" Lagravis told his son, smiling for the first time in days. "That's the spirit, Dad!" Laval said, returning his smile. "When morning hits, Eris and the Eagles will deliver the chi to the other tribes and hopefully they will start joining us in the fight!" he says enthusiastically. "I hope so son!" Lagravis told him reassuringly as they stared upon the orbs in their care.
The next morning, in the Lion Temple courtyard, another forced gathering was occurring. The tribes were huddled together in fear, not knowing what was to happen. From above, Pythor slithered down, a sour expression upon his features, "Citizens of Chima, I tried to be nice, I tried. But you have summoned my wraith, some of you were responsible for a theft the other night. I warned you what would happen if you helped the lions, as you can see by the tribe missing from your little gathering." He said treatment, referring to the wolves. "But I will graciously give you one more chance, as of today one of my tribes will be keeping an eye on you, living amongst you, and if any so much as thinks of betraying me again. Well, it won't be pretty." He finished with a scowl. "Now leave my sight!" he commanded as he turned around towards the throne room. Once there, he turned to Skalidor and asked, "What's the damaged, how long until it's fixed." Turning towards his king, the old general replied, "The entire wall will have to be replaced, at best a few weeks before it's back to normal." "Darnit! Just get to work as fast as possible, you will be sent to the rhinos for more materials. Make sure those rock heads remain in their place!" he told him exasperated. Leaving Skalidor to return to his work with a nod, he turned over to one of his warriors. "Have you found the wolves yet? We need to make a true example of them before they try this again!" he told him. The Anacondrai warrior looked nervously before replying, "I am afraid not my liege. We have searched the entire area and haven't found a trace of them! But fear not, they will be found!" he said confidently. "They better be, for your sake!"
"We have worked too hard for this, if these tribes think they can win at this game, then we will have to remind them what happens when you cross a snake!"
