"Where's Kara?" Vasquez asked a couple of weeks later.

"In the gym, training." Alex said.

"Again?"

"Yeah. We are going to be using most of our budget repairing walls." Alex sighed.

"How is she doing?"

"Feeling guilty about everything."

"And how are you doing?" Vasquez asked.

"Getting frustrated. I know we are missing something. I just don't know what." Alex sighed as Lena entered the office.

"We were right." Lena greeted.

"Why do I think we didn't want to be?" Alex asked.

"New found powers?" Lena guessed. "Or general realism?"

"So what is it?" Alex questioned.

"There is a link between the babies and the chemical, well the evolution of the chemical. There was an unknown compound in the chemical. I have managed to link it to a common strand of DNA in all the babies."

"How and for what?"

"I don't know. I am working on it."

"You have a theory though." Alex prompted.

"What if they weren't just there to fuel Indomitable, what if they were there to be incubators of a virus."

"That attacks metas and Supergirl?" Alex asked doubting it. "How would that help?"

"Maybe it is like Medusa, things can be turned off. What if Indomitable and anyone sharing the babies' DNA were immune?" Lena asked.

"Seems a stretch." Alex said not convinced.

"Do we still have any of Indomitable's DNA?" Lena asked.

"Not much, but some."

"Can I have a sample?"

"Sure." Alex agreed. "But on one condition."

"What?" Lena asked.

"Can you talk to Kara?"

"Of course, I'll go via CatCo."

"Actually she is I the gym." Alex said as Ruby entered the office.

"Sorry." She said when she guessed she was interrupting.

"Ruby." Lena smiled before looking at Alex. "I will go to the gym. I will see you later."

"What have you got?" Alex asked Ruby.

"A maybe link."

"Between?"

"The murder on fifth and Chad."

"The boy in the church?" Vasquez asked.

"Yes. Not them specifically, but their deaths."

"Go on." Alex said.

"As you know there was no CCTV footage when the trouble broke out on fifth. However, we found a car parked nearby, with direct line of sight."

"That's great." Alex said sitting forward as Ruby showed the footage of a figure suddenly appearing and disappearing before the victim dropped to the ground.

"Cam?" Alex asked.

"Can't tell from the video, but that is my guess." Ruby said.

"And you saw the same figure at the church?"

"No." Ruby said. "What I have is a closed room murder. Chad goes in when no one else is there. No one enters or leaves before the fire."

"So you are guessing Cam goes in kills him, waits two hours, starts a fire and leave?" Vasquez asked, not buying it.

"I admit it needs work."

"And evidence." Alex added. "There is no proof of any link between Cam and what happened at the church. But you are right, the footage of maybe Cam is big. We need to warn Steve and Lena he is back." She added. "Share your theory with Agent Bell, but point out there is no evidence of Cam's involvement at the church."

"Yes boss." Ruby said leaving.

"I'm fine." Kara said as she sat opposite Lena eating lunch later that day.

"Ignoring the state the gym was in when I found you this morning, you are eating salad, without complaining." Lena countered.

"I'm not really eating it." Kara said.

"You're not, not eating either." Lena argued.

"I feel like I have let everyone down." Kara said.

"How?"

"The babies are dead. Everyone hates everyone. Lex escaped, putting you in danger. Alex sounds miserable-"

"Kara." Lena cut in. "None of that is on you."

"Isn't it? I let Indomitable do whatever he wanted."

"No. You tried to stop him. You were hindered by the idiots of this world buying into his dentist white smile."

"I still should have stopped him."

"You did, nearly dying in the process." Lena said.

"It didn't really change anything though did it? I mean there is so much hate out there."

"It is easier to show hate than understanding." Lena said. "But you are right, beating Indomitable doesn't fix what he did. It will take a long time for the world to heal."

"In the mean time his people are twisting the knife."

"It might not just be his people. Lex could have joined the party." Lena said.

"You think he has?"

"I can't rule it out. He is being way too quiet." Lena said. "And as much as I hope it is because he is six feet under and can't cause trouble, I don't believe that for a minute."

"How are you doing with everything?" Kara asked.

"I have boxes. Don't change the subject. This lunch is about you."

"I'll be okay." Kara said. "I'm just being, I don't know, pathetic."

"You aren't being pathetic."

"I'm sitting here complaining." Kara reminded her. "Every night people are getting attacked for being different. They are getting hurt and all I am doing is complaining."

"You have been trying to stop the hate and the attacks." Lena reminded her.

"But have achieved nothing."

"I don't think that is true. The people you helped last night are grateful for the help." Lena said. "And I will always be grateful for all the help. What you need to do is stop thinking about the idiots. They don't deserve your help."

"That's not exactly how I work."

"Well, you are too nice for this planet."

"You sound like Steve."

"Steve has sense." Lena replied.

"I'm not so sure." Kara said. "He sticks by me and I am pretty sure I am not fun to be around right now."

"Things will get better."

"How do you?"

"Even if you can't see it, you have a way of making things better. Things will get better."

"When did you become an optimist?"

"I haven't. I am a realist." Lena reminded her. "Which is why you need to believe me."

"Still not seeing it."

"At the very least Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. Alex will be back, things will be better."

"Have you spoken to Alex recently?"

"Your Alex?"

"Yes."

"Not for a week or so. Why?"

"I don't know, she sounds down."

"She say why?"

"No. She said she's fine. But I know something is worrying her."

"Could it be you?" Lena asked.

"Me?"

"Yes you. She will have seen the news. She knows you better than anyone, so she knows how you are feeling, how you are blaming yourself. She is without doubt worried about you."

"She worries too much."

"I think that is a family trait." Lena shrugged. "But she will be back soon. She and Kara will get immersed in wedding prep. You will get immersed in pie."

"Pie is good." Kara smiled weakly.

"Things will get better." Lena said. "But you need to believe that."

"Thank you for today." Kara smiled.

"Of course." Lena smiled.
