It was winter now, she could tell, the bars of her cage and the breeze in the office were so much colder than usual. There had been a lot of talk between the doctors, about a joint experiment. His leather binder was growing bigger by the day.
It was tomorrow. The day that the experiments would change. Before it would individual sessions, now they would be paired up. Her interest was piqued. The day she would finally meet the patients she had been hearing for so long.
The morning came so quick. Dr. Kirkland let himself into his office, setting himself up for the day before heading to a morning session. She had learnt his routine now, he had morning sessions and then dealt with her. He would be back within hours, to take her to their usual room, to unleash the horrors she was now used to.
The nurses came first, removing her from her cage and strapping her to a trolley before taking her through the route she had become accustomed to. The room she passed through, usually loud with cries and laughter was now silent as she entered through the double doors.
Where there was once a surgical chair there was now 7 patient chairs, six of them were occupied with chains and straight jackets, she observed them all, in silence as they all struggled to remove their restraints as the nurses removed her from her trolley into her seat.
She recognised them all as the shadows that passed her each time she was taken to this room. A group session with them all, what would they do to blend their experimentations?
They tied her into her chair, attaching her shackles and strapping her arms into a straight jacket, pulling at her healing wounds. She took the chance to look around herself, they were all older than her, except for a young man in front of her, his hair was black, messy and he had a crazed look on his face.
They were just as worried as she was, whimpering and whispering between themselves, she looked down at the ground as the doctor's entered. A silence became deafening in the room as the doctors surrounded them.
'We don't have much time, I put this down as an MDT meeting on my timetable.' The doctors were making small talk around them, ignoring the now angry noises from a number of patients around her.
'Let's choose. Who should we pair up? We'll need two pairs and one group of three before entering into bigger groups.' She was paired up with the man opposite her, the one that appeared to be her age, as well as another patient, a larger older man, who she wasn't sure seemed more crazed than the man ahead of her.
They were taken back to their cells; their group sessions would officially begin tomorrow.
