A little after five o'clock that same evening, Fred, Velma, Shaggy, Daphne and Scooby Doo followed Perry to the parking lot.

"This your car, kids?" he asked, seeing the Mystery Machine.

"Yes," Shaggy answered.

Perry saw the words Mystery Machine on the van.

"Why does it say Mystery Machine on your car?" Perry asked with curiosity.

Daphne answered his question.

"It's surely different from other cars and trucks I've ever seen. Just follow me."

Once they all got into the Mystery Machine, Perry started his car as Fred did with the Mystery Machine. As the Mystery Machine followed Perry, Shaggy asked, "Do you think we'll have the chance to meet Mr. Mason's family?"

"We don't know, Shaggy. He hasn't given us anymore information about that. It'll be fun to watch him in the courtroom in person instead of TV," Fred answered.

"I'm excited about that," Velma said.

"Me too," Daphne agreed.

"I hope we can meet Mr. Drake. I'm sorry he wasn't there when we got to the office," Fred said.

"I almost forgot about him," Daphne said.

Della had left the office sometime before the gang and Perry did. When they arrived to Perry's place, the gang noticed it had a backyard that was big enough for children and dogs to run around and play in. Perry took the key out of the ignition and locked his car. He saw the gang were already out.

"This is the place."

The gang had their suitcases and followed Perry into the house.

"This is a very nice house, Mr. Mason."

"Thank you, Daphne. Let me show you where your rooms are."

"He offered to help them with the suitcases, and Fred stopped him.

"Thanks, Mr. Mason, we can handle it," he replied.

After he showed them their rooms, they thanked him.

"You can just call me Perry. There's no reason to say Mr. Mason."

"What are we going to do about food?" Shaggy asked.

"I remember Della said something about cooking for you while you're here with us."

"Shaggy and Scooby Doo are really good with the kitchen," Daphne said.

Perry was surprised to hear that a dog could cook, but looked confused, which was to be expected.

"She's right, Perry. You should see them in the kitchen," said Fred.

"I've never heard of dogs cooking in the kitchen. That's pretty creative imagination, kids. I'd like to see that sometime and see for myself. I'll go call Della to let her know we're at my place."

"Why do you have to tell her that?" Shaggy asked.

"So that way you wouldn't have to spend time cooking in the kitchen."

He laughed as he walked away from them.

Perry went ahead and called Della.

"All right, Perry. I'll be sure to come over in about ten minutes."

"All right, Della. Their van is in the driveway."

"Thank you for letting me know, Perry. I'll see you then."

They hung up. Perry thought that was a close one so Della wouldn't hear him laugh about dogs help with cooking in the kitchen. Maybe one of these days he could see them in action so he could see for himself it's not a joke.

Perry thought later tonight he would go ahead and call his mother, Paul and Hamilton Burger. He though this was something to share with Hamilton Burger. He'd make that call once they are in bed for the evening. His mother knew by now Perry chose his contest winners Paul found for this case. He wasn't sure if he could trust the gang asking witnesses, questions in the courtroom since that was his job.

Della indeed dropped over within ten minutes like she had promised. Perry could tell her about Scooby and the kitchen. She'll have a good laugh and want to see this for herself as well. Perry never really bothered asking how Scooby Doo helps in the kitchen. He'd see for himself soon. Della even bought dessert over with her also. She rang the doorbell.

Perry told them to stay where they are since it was only Della anyway.

"Thanks, Della," he told her.

"I bought dessert also. The dinner is also in the car. I can go get that now."

Shaggy and Scoob got off the couch and offered to help Della with the food. Perry told them both to stay, which they did. Perry ended up helping Della.

"Too bad I couldn't do that for Miss Street," Shaggy said.

"Mr. Mason can do that. Probably doesn't want dog fur on the food," Fred told him.

"That makes sense," Shaggy said.

"Dog? Where?"

Scooby Doo always asks that question. He likes to be a person instead of an animal. They all heard Della and Perry talking and laughing. He did tell her about Scooby Doo help in the kitchen. She needed a good laugh.

Perry opened the door for her as she carried the food inside.

"Thank you for bringing food over for us, Della. What is it we're having?" Velma asked.

"It's a salad and cherry pie for dessert."

"What kind of salad?" asked Shaggy.

"Chicken."

"Sounds tasty," Scooby Doo said.

Della put the food on the kitchen table. Everyone followed her in. She offered to stay so she could get to know them better.

"Della, after you leave, I need to make a few phone calls. Paul is one of them."

"All right. Why don't you tell us about yourselves?" Della asked.

"I like science. I think it's interesting. I also love to read books."

"How about you, Fred? What do you like?" Della asked.

"I enjoy sports, but mostly baseball. I mostly enjoy watching baseball in person more than television."

"I like fashion, but mostly when it comes to the expensive stuff."

"She was born with money," Fred explained.

Neither Della or Perry said a word about it. Yes, Fred was still wearing his ascot. It's something he doesn't go without.

"How about you, Shaggy? What do you like besides food?" Della asked.

"This is a good meal, Della. You didn't have to cook for us," Fred told her.

"I know, but I thought it was a good way to welcome you for coming all the way."

"We were happy to do it," Daphne said as she drank some of her water.

Shaggy gave out a loud burp.

"Excuse me," he said politely.

"That's all right," Perry said.

So everyone kept talking about themselves during chicken salad and cherry pie.

"Della, you didn't have to bring anything over for our guests," Perry told her, agreeing with what Fred had just said.

"I know, but I thought I would anyway. Hope you all are going to enjoy staying here and help us out."

"We're happy to do it, Della. We decided to give this a shot and see what happens next. We're happy to be here," Shaggy said as the others agreed.

"This is wonderful cherry pie. Did you make it?" Shaggy asked.

"No. I bought it at the grocery store. I'm not cook," Della answered.

"But it's still delicious."

"Thank you. It's one of my favorites also," Della said.

"Maybe you kids can show us how your dog cooks in the kitchen," Perry said.

"Maybe. Shaggy here is the one who does most of the cooking. These two really do love food."

"Even cooking isn't Paul's thing either, so none of us like it much."

"Do you go out or eat at home most of the time?" time?" Daphne asked.

"We mostly eat at home, but it's mostly nice not to spend time waiting in line to wait for seats."

They talked for a while longer that evening. Then it was bedtime.
