"Should we talk with Mrs. Mason?" Velma asked.
"Why do you want to speak with her again for, Velma?" Fred asked.
Velma shrugged.
"Thought we'd get the chance to know her a bit. We're the contest winners, after all."
"We just met her too, didn't we?" Shaggy asked.
"Yes, but I don't know if we missed anything during the introduction Perry shared, it doesn't hurt to talk with her again."
"Ask Perry before we do anything, Velma," Fred told her.
"Isn't that what I plan to do?"
"Guess so," Fred answered.
They parked in front of Perry's office. They saw a couple of cars besides Perry's own car.
"Is he having clients or visitors?" Daphne asked as they unbuckled their seatbelts and locked the Mystery Machine.
"Let's go in and find out for ourselves," Velma answered.
Fred locked the Mystery Machine and then they were inside the office.
So Daphne opened the door for themselves and they walked inside. Della was at the reception desk when she saw Fred slam the door.
"Hello, kids."
"Hi, Della. Is Perry around?" Velma asked.
"Yes, but he's in with a couple of clients. I'll let him know you're here."
"We want to ask him a question, but that's about it," Fred said.
"What sort of question?" Della asked.
"If we could talk with his mother again," Velma told her.
"He did mention you had the chance to meet her."
"Yes. It was a nice introduction, even though we will be gone soon. This is a fun contest that Paul came up with. Do you know how he came up with this idea?" Daphne asked.
"No, I don't. You can ask him that yourself," Della told them as she got up from the desk to let him know the gang arrived.
"Not necessary," Shaggy said.
Della returned.
"He'll see you in a few minutes. Looks like we have new clients when we have contest winners."
"That's all right," Fred told her.
"After we're gone, things will get back to normal," Shaggy said.
"That happens, even if it's for just a short while."
A few minutes passed and the gang saw he was still in with the clients.
"What's taking so long?" Shaggy asked.
"That's what lawyers do, Shaggy. They spend a lot of time with the clients who come in and listen to them."
"I know, Velma, but you know some of us aren't patient."
"I know, Shaggy, but that's how this thing works."
"You should've been a lawyer yourself instead of being interested in science," Shaggy told her.
"You think so?"
"Yes, I do."
They didn't say anything else because that's when the office door opened and then the clients thanked Perry and then let themselves out of the office.
"Now you can come in," Della told them.
"Thanks, Della. We appreciate it."
While his office door was open, Daphne led them inside.
"How is your day?" Perry asked.
"It's good. We only came in for a question," Velma told him.
"What's the question?"
"Go ahead and ask, Velma, since it was your question."
"We want to speak with your mother again if that's okay with the both of you," Velma said.
"Why do you want to speak with her again for?" Perry asked.
"Just to get to know her a bit more. Maybe she could share some information about your father before this."
"I can tell you myself, but my mother might be upset talking about it with people she doesn't know. Let me go call her and I will see when we can go there together and you ask her."
So Perry made that call to his mother.
"Thanks, Mom. I'll tell them."
When he hung up, he said, "She's fine with it, but wants me to come along. You don't know the area like I do."
"True," Daphne said.
"After all, this is our contest, and I thought it was a good idea to have more than just one conversation with a family member of yours."
"I don't think she'd want to be in the courtroom with us, but I doubt she did anything to him since they were close to each other since getting to know one another."
"Which makes sense. When are you going to take us again?" Velma asked.
"Saturday morning. I told her I would call before we leave so she'll know when to expect us."
"Fine with us," Shaggy told him.
"Are we allowed to ask questions when it's time to go into the courtroom? Is that how this contest works?" Fred asked.
"You'll have to ask Paul that question yourselves, kids. It was his idea in the first place, so I can't answer that for you."
"That's all right, Perry. It's no big deal. We'll see you later."
"See you when I'm off," he told them.
"We'll look forward to it," Daphne said.
