He wonders if chaos will ever cease to follow him wherever he goes.

The past weeks have been a whirlwind of changes, and Harvey Specter has never been someone to take extreme changes so well, even though he's a great risks taker, he also likes having complete control of things. He doesn't particularly like being thrown into a different life without warning, and Jessica leaving caused exactly that.

He's craved power for many years, he even considered taking Jessica down once, but after making things right with her he put the ambition of becoming Managing Partner out of his mind, never considered it again, until it was pretty much forced on him the moment Jessica decided to leave the firm.

So now Jessica is gone. She chose love, and Harvey respects that, but he also misses his mentor every single day.

Even though Jessica's departure has given him no joy, it's also made him see that he is at a different point in life. He feels like he has grown more in the last few months than he has in the past ten years.

He finally made peace with his mom. They are still rebuilding their relationship, but he talks to her regularly, and he considers that a huge win, there are even talks of him going to Boston to spend a few days there when things settle down a bit at the firm.

He's still adjusting to his new role as Managing Partner, and he's not exactly enjoying it as much as he once thought he would, but he believes he's doing quite a good job at it. He's Harvey Specter after all, he wins and he succeeds at everything he sets out to do.

And last but not least, actually more importantly, Donna doesn't work for him anymore. Well, she does, but she's not his secretary, she's now the firm's COO, and she has proven to be more than worthy of the title.

When she first asked for more, he panicked. Because he thought she meant more of him, more of their relationship, and even though his first reaction was to run away, and pretend the conversation never happened, he then started to give it a better thought.

He's been seeing Stan Lipschitz for the past few months, having rekindled therapy after Mike got out of prison, and deciding he needed a change of doctor too because while Dr. Agard was good at her job, he didn't feel comfortable going back to her. So he asked Louis if he could see his therapist and his friend was glad to help.

Stan made him see that he was feeling that perhaps there was something missing in his life. To an outsider, it would appear that Harvey had it all; money, success, any woman he set his eyes on, the love of his loyal friends and his family, and while all of that was true, there was a key piece missing.

Ever since Mike went to prison and Harvey had front row seats to Rachel's suffering for having the man she loves away for several months, he's found himself wanting what Mike and Rachel have.

He's never thought of settling down, committing himself to someone for life, and having a family of his own. But nowadays he's come to realize he's tired of his bachelor lifestyle, he doesn't want to keep having endless one-night stands with nameless women that mean nothing more to him than the means to satisfy a physical need. He finds himself wanting to have a special someone waiting for him at home after a tiring day, someone to talk about the good and the bad things in their lives. He essentially wants someone to share his life with, and when he thinks about who that someone could be, only one woman comes to his mind.

Donna.

The truth is that he's never stopped wanting Donna, but he never pursued her again after she came with him to Pearson Hardman either because she was a fundamental part of his success and she made it clear to him that she wouldn't get involved with him as long as they were working together when she made it a condition to put that night out of their minds, not that he ever really did. He most certainly didn't.

But things are different now. Turns out the 'more' that she wanted was related to her professional life and he promoted her because he understood that she was right. She did more for the firm than any regular secretary would, she was never just a secretary and it was time she was given the recognition she earned during the past thirteen years.

So while they still worked together and with him being manager partner she technically still worked for him, it's not the same as when she worked on his desk.

Stan says that he first panicked when she suggested she may have wanted more with him because the last time Donna mentioned the possibility of them being more, it ended up with her leaving him, but he also says that things are different now, that they are equals at work and that if he's certain Donna is what he wants he should go for it. The worst that could happen is that she says no and things stay the way they are, but Harvey is not so sure about that. If he decides to cross that bridge and Donna rejects him, their friendship may not be the same ever again. And the thought terrifies him.

But what's even more terrifying is the thought of leaving things the way they are and someone appearing in Donna's life and taking away their chance at being together forever.

He can't allow that to happen, so he resolves that it's time to finally man up and do something about it.

He walks towards her office and smiles at her name and title being displayed on her door, pride invading him as he knocks on said door.

"You've never knocked before" She teases lightly as she looks up from her paperwork, a smile plastered on her face, that same smile that's so her and that makes Harvey weak in the knees every time it is directed at him.

"You've never had a door before" He teases back.

"What can I do for you?"

"Um… I just…" He stumbles and curses to himself. He's Harvey goddamn Specter, he never stumbles. But it's not every day that you try to muster the courage to ask Donna, aka the woman you have come to realize is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, on a date. "How are you adapting to your new role?" He asks instead as he sits on a chair in front of her desk, telling himself he'll get there, gaining a few more minutes before facing his destiny.

"Well, I'm me, so… I have adapted just fine, I was born for this role" She jokes and he chuckles, knowing her confidence many times also works as a defense mechanism.

"I'm glad to hear that. And I've been thinking that we haven't properly celebrated your promotion and that's my fault since I've been so caught up in my new role too"

Her eyes widen in surprise at his words and she smiles with a slight shake of her head "It's okay, Harvey, I completely understand, and we haven't celebrated your new role either, so I'd say we're even"

"Well" He starts as he runs a finger under his nose, like he always does when he's somewhat nervous and Donna catches the action on the spot. "We could do two for one, have dinner and celebrate both" He suggests in a boyish sort of way that makes him feel pretty stupid.

"I guess we could, yeah" She agrees and he visibly relaxes as he lets out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

"Friday night?" He suggests and she nods.

"I'll make the reservation" Donna says but Harvey shakes his head.

"No, don't worry, I'll take care of it"

"Do you know how?" She teases and he chuckles as he stands to leave.

"It's been a while but I can manage" He responds with a grin.

"Okay, I'll be looking forward to it"

"Me too, can't wait" He smiles widely and their eyes lock, maybe for a second too long. He's pretty sure she even blushes a bit at his penetrating look, but he lets it go, hoping she understands this isn't just a regular dinner like the ones they've had over the years, but for some reason, unknown even to him, he doesn't tell her that, and he simply leaves.

He spends the rest of the week in a great mood. Not even Louis and Mike being pissed at him affects the excitement he has for Friday night.

He had it all covered, he asked Gretchen to help him make the restaurant reservation, made sure neither he nor she would have anything pressing that day that would keep them in the office late and he planned every single detail of how the night would go. Because just dinner didn't seem right, no, he wanted to give Donna the world, wanted to show her he was ready for them, finally ready for everything.

They share some looks and smiles as they cross paths in hallways, Harvey finds any excuse he can to drop by her office and talk to her about anything, and even though she doesn't openly flirt with him as she used to, Harvey doesn't look much into it, it's probably because of her new position and she doesn't want anyone talking about how she got it more than they already do. Despite that, Harvey realizes it was so stupid of him to think that Donna could turn him down. As far as he's concerned, they were always meant to be.

And then, Friday night finally comes and he's a nervous wreck. His day is packed with clients, Mike and even Alex making his life so much harder, and he barely catches a glimpse of her all day, despite being in adjacent offices.

Anticipation builds on him and he wishes the day could be over as soon as possible, all he can think about is them together, chatting lightly, enjoying a good bottle of wine and a good meal while he makes silly jokes that'll make her laugh and she'll make him laugh in return with her sassiness.

He definitely can't wait for their date.

"Harvey, do you have a moment?"

He looks up to find Gretchen standing in his doorway just as he is about to leave. He frowns in confusion but nods.

"Sure Gretchen" He says and leans back into his seat, waiting for her to speak.

"Louis is out of control, he's torturing our associates, yelled at Rachel, and mistreated Donna earlier today" His eyes almost bulged at that.

"What did he say to her?" He demands to know and Gretchen doesn't need to be a genius to understand he's not asking about Rachel.

"It's not only Donna, Harvey. I'm telling you he's out of control in general"

"I asked you a question, Gretchen"

"He told her she shouldn't even be in her position, and the fact that you're delusional enough to make a secretary COO doesn't mean he'll listen to anything she says"

Harvey breathes heavily and nods as he stands.

"He's still hurting over Tara, and I'm only telling you so you can—"

"I don't give a fuck about his love life!" Harvey snaps as he walks past Gretchen and the secretary immediately regrets going to the managing partner, because of course all he heard was that Louis had mistreated Donna and nothing else.

His steps are determined as he walks into his partner's office.

"Harvey, if you're here to scold me—"

"I'm here to tell you that you better never goddamn diminish Donna's role in this firm again or I'll fucking end you!" Harvey yells as Louis stands from his seat.

"I'm a name partner and you can't talk to me that way" He roars back.

"And I'm the goddamn managing partner of this firm and I don't give a rat's ass that your name is on the wall. Solve your goddamn relationship issues and leave Donna alone!"

"How dare you say that to me? I have just lost the woman I love, you insensitive asshole!"

"And that doesn't give you the right to mistreat the woman I—" He realizes what he was about to blurt out and stops himself mid-sentence "Trust the most" He ends up saying. "She is one of the most important pillars of this firm, Louis, and you're gonna give her the respect she deserves. I'm sorry about you and your fiancé, I really am, but you're done taking it out on Donna. And that goes for Rachel and the associates, too. Make no mistake Louis, your name may be on the wall, but I'm the one in charge, and it's time you get it through your head"

"I'm sorry" Louis finally says with his head cast low "I shouldn't have talked to Donna or Rachel like that, or even the associates. I'm working on getting better, Harvey, and I promise it'll never happen again. You know what Donna means to me, I lashed out at her because she confronted me, but I know she deserves her position and I know her value to this firm. It won't happen again" He promises and Harvey nods.

"I gotta go now. There's something I need to take care of, but you better apologize to Rachel right now, and you'll most definitely apologize to Donna as soon as you see her"

"Of course Harvey"

"Good"

He turns on his heels without another word and leaves his partner's office.

At eight sharp he knocks on her door with a bouquet of peonies in his hands. She opens a few seconds later and she takes his breath away. She's wearing a deep green dress that hugs her curves in all the right places, her wavy hair over her shoulders and he thinks she's never looked more beautiful.

"Hi" She greets him with a smile.

"Hi" He says back with a matching smile "These are for you" He hands her the flowers and she takes them to inhale their scent.

"You've never brought me flowers before" She points out, confused at the gesture.

"Yes, I have, actually" He retorts in mock offense. "And it's a special occasion, it's not every day you're promoted to COO"

"You're right. Thank you, Harvey, they are beautiful. Come in, I'll just put them in water and we can go"

He steps into her apartment, and it feels so different from the last time he was here when she begged him not to fall on his sword for Mike.

"Ready?" She asks as she comes back from the kitchen.

"Yeah… You look beautiful, Donna" He compliments, realizing it's the first thing he should have told her. He's usually so confident and always knows what to say, but with her, he suddenly feels like a moronic teenager who has no idea how to behave in front of his crush.

"Thank you, Harvey. You look really nice too" She suddenly seems a bit nervous, and he assumes it's because she's not used to him complimenting her like that.

"Thanks. I remember you saying once that you liked this suit" He reminds her and her eyes widen in surprise. He's perfectly aware of how much he draws her attention whenever he wears a navy blue suit.

"I can't believe you remembered that"

"I remember a lot of things" He says in a flirting tone and she chuckles.

"Come on, we're gonna be late" She takes the lead and heads out the door with Harvey tailing behind her.

"Carbone?" She asks, a bit surprised when Ray parks outside the restaurant.

"It's not our work anniversary, seemed fitting" He explains as he gets out of the car and rounds it to open her door for her, helping her step out. "You don't like it?" He asks with concern once they're standing on the sidewalk. She seems off, and he wants tonight to be perfect, if that means changing restaurants then so be it.

"I do. It's perfect Harvey, really" She assures him with a smile.

They go inside and are taken to their table. It's intimate and perfect for a first date, Harvey made sure of it, but he can also tell how tense Donna seems to be and he starts wondering if this was a good idea at all.

He decides to let it go and tries to enjoy the evening, and it really does get better. They talk and he tells her all about how hard it is to fill Jessica's shoes and she gets him and tells him that it's going to be okay, that it'll take a few adjustments but he's ready to run the firm and he believes her, because how could he not when she's the person he trusts the most and the only person whose faith in him matters.

Donna tells him about that time she went mudding with Louis a few months ago and it makes Harvey burst out laughing, he mocks her so hard that before they know it they are both almost crying with laughter and it's one of those perfect moments that you want to save in your retinas forever, because Donna relaxed and laughing because of a joke he made, is the best sight in the world to him and he can't wait to drive her home and maybe work out the courage to kiss her in her doorway and let her decide how the evening will end.

"This was so much fun Harvey, I'm glad you went through the trouble of asking Gretchen to help you with the reservation to come here" His expression is completely shocked as he opens and closes his mouth, trying to think of a way out but it's useless, he's been caught.

"I just wanted to make sure everything went perfect, I didn't trust myself not to screw it up"

"That's actually very sweet Harvey" Her smile lets him know she's not mad about it and he lets out a breath of relief.

"I promise to take care of it myself from now on"

"Oh, you think we'll share several dinners together?" She asks with amusement and he grins widely, giving her that smile she loves.

"I sure hope so, yeah"

"Well, I'm not sure how the man I'm seeing will feel about that"

With those words coming out of her mouth, what's been a perfect evening suddenly transforms into Harvey's worst nightmare when everything clicks into place and he realizes why she's seen so out of sorts before. She's seeing someone, and the realization that he is in fact too late hits him like a ton of bricks.

A/N It sure feels good to be back with a multi, it's gonna be a short one but anyways. I hope you liked it and let me know your thoughs, I love reading them.
