Chapter 1:

"It all started back in 999, the forest was once again green, the flowers grew so popular all around, the local wildlife as well travelled around looking for food.

My brothers practised their sword fights whilst Rebekah and my little brother watched in wonder, I was off in the forest just watching the local wildlife.

Mikael had gotten on my nerves and I was ticked off by him.

I went by the lake to throw stones along the riverbank seeing how far they could go. It was nice and peaceful, being around nature and listening to the birds sing.

But something happened that intrigued me, something that I never realised and that was when I met her…"

Walking down the riverbank, Niklaus could hear a sound straight ahead, sounded like singing and wondered who was there. Could it have been Rebekah or maybe his mother Esther?

He wouldn't know but when he cleared the long grass areas, he turned to see a person hunched over the river, looking like they were washing something. The person had golden blonde hair; it was quite wavy and Niklaus was further intrigued by this as he stood leaning against a boulder.

The person stilled for a moment looking around as Niklaus saw quite an angelic face of the woman before him, her blonde locks were wavy and very golden to frame her beautiful face, but her eyes they were very blue, she softly smiled as Niklaus had never met someone so beautiful as her before.

The blonde then soon said, "Don't you know it's rude to stare?"

"My apologies, I didn't realise that I was staring at something so beautiful." Niklaus said with a smile.

The blonde blushed as she said, "I'm not that beautiful."

"Whoever said you wasn't obviously didn't look at you very well." Niklaus replied as he said, "Forgive me, but my name is Niklaus Mikaelson, I live over in the village not far from here."

"Caroline, Caroline Forbes, I live not far from here, just up that way past the Falls." Caroline introduced herself. Niklaus smiled replying, "It is rather strange for a young lady as yourself to be this far on her own."

Nodding, Caroline then replied, "I like this part of the woods, it's nice and peaceful, and very beautiful." "I too share the sentiment, my lady." Niklaus smiled drinking in the very beauty of this gorgeous young lady.

She then smiled and said, "Tell me something?"

"What would you like to know?" Niklaus asked with a smile. Caroline blushed under that smile replying, "You."

Niklaus laughed as he thought to himself before replying, "Well, I come from a large family, my parents were Vikings who fled the old world to come here after a plague swept up their homeland, taking my older sister with them in the process."

"I'm so sorry." Caroline said. Niklaus nodded replying, "I was not born when she perished, but I remember my mother telling me little details."

"How many siblings do you have?" Caroline asked. Niklaus smiled replying, "2 older brothers, Finn and Elijah. My other younger brothers, Kol and Henrik, my youngest sister Rebekah."

"That's a big family." Caroline replied. Niklaus nodded, "We're all very close. But my father and I aren't close."

Caroline nodded saying, "Same, my father and I aren't close. Do you like horses?"

"I like horses, I occasionally ride when I'm not training, sometimes I like to watch the sunrise or the sunset." Niklaus offered.

Caroline looked over at him raising an eyebrow as she said, "I'd like that."

"What about tonight?" Niklaus smiled. Caroline blushed simply before she replied, "It would be an honour."

Niklaus smiled before he had said, "Then follow me please, my dear."

Walking her through the forest, Caroline reveals a little more about herself, even Niklaus can't help but stare at this beautiful person that has so intrigued him as he said, "Mind if I ask about you, Caroline, it would be improper to not know about the young woman before me?"

"Well, I am 18, I'm an only child according to my mother. Apparently, my father is an adulterous man who bedded many women."

"Such disloyalty, I frown upon such a thing, it's a shame." Niklaus had said. Caroline nodded, "When were you born?"

"Well, I am nearing my 20th year, sometime in the summer. I see the view hasn't changed a bit." Niklaus replied.

Caroline's eyes darted over to him as she asked, "You've been here before?"

"My brothers, my father and I went here ourselves, although we went a little lower to the ground, we couldn't see it well but the sunlight reflecting off the leaves made a beautiful sight."

Caroline blushed as she turned to face Niklaus as the sunset made her glow, her effortless beauty became even more unbelievable even her beautiful to him, feelings within him stirred furiously as he began to suddenly realise that he was in love with Caroline Forbes after only hours of meeting her.

Suddenly, he heard sounds of footfalls from around him as he said, "What is that?"

"Horses." Caroline replied. Niklaus nods, "Must be wild horses, but this far, it's not possible."

The footfalls approached closer as Niklaus moved Caroline behind him before reaching for the small dagger he had kept on him.

There were 5 men on horseback approaching the 2 as the leading man revealed himself with long dark hair and soulless brown eyes as he said, "Look at what we have here?"

"I don't believe we have met. Who are you?" Niklaus replied.

"My name is not important, but I'm fair." The man had said as he added, "You're a long way from home."

Caroline then moved but Niklaus kept her behind him as he said, "We mean you no harm, if you'll let us go, we will not bother you again."

"All we want is the girl, I believe she will serve our purpose." The leader had said. Niklaus felt anger rise in him hearing of this threat towards the young woman as he said, "I ask you to leave, now… I demand that you do."

The right hand man got off his horse and approached the couple as he said, "You don't tell us what to do, for this transgression, we can kill you slowly and let you watch as the girl becomes our slave."

Unknown to Niklaus, Caroline unravelled a dagger from her clothing as she kept it hidden, Niklaus then took off his starling necklace as he said, "Then you will bleed upon this ground."

In a flash, Niklaus grabbed hold of the man's sword with his right hand but immediately stabbed the man closest to him in the chest, he took the large sword and swiped lobbing the head off the leader of the group, the other men were stunned as they raced to fight Niklaus.

The man on the left soon lunged at Niklaus and stabbed him straight in the stomach as Niklaus cried out in pain, but he got back up and fought the man off before cutting his arm off and slashing him across his head killing him instantly.

Caroline was struggling however, she saw Niklaus drop to a knee as she threw her fist directly towards the man before stabbing him in his abdomen and slitting his throat.

Niklaus grabbed the other man and threw him to the ground before pounding his face in, only his anger was sky high about now and nothing stopped him until the man was no longer breathing and his face was unrecognisable.

Breathing very heavily, Niklaus looked upon the carnage as he felt the adrenaline in his body course through him because of his bloodied stomach wound.

Then something horrifying happened, Niklaus's body started to convulse and his bones snapped in horrifying circumstances, it caused him to scream in agonising pain as he said, "What is happening?!"

"Oh no, it's happened!" Caroline said with eyes widened. Niklaus looked up at her in shock as she witnessed his piercing blue eyes turn to amber and gold.

Niklaus then asked, "What's wrong?"

"I need to get you somewhere, it's not safe here!" Caroline said as she reached for his arm and wrapped it round her back.

They began walking as Niklaus started to ask some questions, but Caroline avoided answering questions about what he was and what he turned into.

He blacked out losing consciousness when they neared a village that Caroline had knew.

When he awoke, he could smell the burning of wood and hear the crackling of a fire as he woke up in pain seeing the fresh covering over his wound.

Caroline's eyes widened as she said, "Don't try to move, don't move."

"Where am I?" Niklaus asked breathing heavily. Caroline wiped his forehead of sweat with a cold cloth as she said, "In my village, don't try to move as much… you lost a lot of blood it's a miracle you survived."

Niklaus mustered a smile as best as he could replying, "Miracles do exist I suppose."

Groaning softly he then asked, "What happened, I remember passing out, those bandits tried to take you, but we stopped them… then my body started screaming at me and I collapsed from my bones cracking from within…?"

"That all happened, but something changed from within, Niklaus…" Caroline said.

Niklaus looked at Caroline for answers until someone then said, "You must be Niklaus Mikaelson, I knew your mother, Esther."

"Who are you?" Niklaus then asked.

The man walked in as he said, "My name is Ansel, much like you I defended others like myself from enemies who threatened me and what followed changed me dangerously that I hide myself and my family's secret, but it seems that you've stumbled upon yours."

"What secret?" Niklaus asked shocked.

Ansel closed his eyes as they changed from natural blue to gold and black as Niklaus looked on in shock and horror as he said, "You're a werewolf…"

"That I am… but as are you, Niklaus. You're a werewolf too." Ansel confessed.

So a little different from what we saw in the series, but this is my own special little addition, but I like to add in a little dramatic to stories itself... Please tell me what think in the comments below. I love to hear what you think... hope you're all okay.
