02. No gridges, right?
Those laughs flooded that table in that luxurious Japanese-style restaurant, but with modern touches.
The laugh that stood out the most was Nobara's, bubbly as well as the drink that was being served to her.
That joy filled the place in such a way that for a moment she and Yuta forgot that there was also another person eating next to them.
The winners of those passes and the star of the night were at the best table in that restaurant and all the staff were at different tables in that place they had booked at the last minute in one of the most luxurious neighborhoods. and with the best nightlife in Tokyo. The Ginza area.
In the eyes of Geto and Manami, what was happening at that table was pure and juicy material to put together a good show, worthy of inspiration for future projects.
"Do you notice, right?" Geto asked quietly, as he watched them from another table.
"The tension? I thought I was the only one who felt it since those two arrived backstage..." —Manami whisper— "besides, I think the green-haired girl is Yuta's acquaintance, I say this because of something I could hear inside that dressing room..." whisper looking at her cell phone.
"Interesting" Geto raise his hand to attract the attention of a waiter "For now let's just observe what else happens with those three" commented before ordering one more dish for himself.
"Oh really! You're so much fun!" Nobara said, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes. They were tears caused by the laughter that Yuta had caused her.
"Thank you, some people don't believe that about me, some have considered me as someone very 'boring' without even giving me a chance to show who I really am" Yuta released that with a smile. He took a quick look at Maki as he said that, and then placed her lips on the glass from which she was drinking.
Maki slightly twisted her eyes upon hearing that, while taking a bit of food to her mouth. She tried not to pay attention to all that but she was useless with the laughter of those two.
Thinking that that dinner she was eating and that expensive and bubbly drink, all of that was being invited by Yuta, made her stomach turn a little, not because it was a bad dinner, but because it made her stomach turn, but because of sorrow and anger. She never thought that he could treat her to something this luxurious.
Actually, she never thought to see him again in her life, much less thought that he would shine so bright.
"Seriously, I must be dreaming, I can't believe I'm here, having dinner next to my favorite singer." Nobara pinched her shoulder. "It's definitely not a dream!" she gave a smile of immense happiness.
She really felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
Yuta also smiled slightly. "Well, they say that some things feel so wonderful that it's hard to believe they're real." He commented putting his hand on Nobara's hand, making her blush a little. "Seriously, I'm glad you're having fun and that this is happening outside of your dreams."
The exchange of glances between those two felt in such a way that it seemed all rosy.
Those two were definitely having a great time.
On the other hand, Maki was not having as much fun as she would like. She was sitting next to Nobara watching all that scene, while she ate dinner in silence.
She felt "strange" with that situation, seeing these two talk and flirt and incidentally agree on many issues, they were making her very uncomfortable since she felt out of place.
And more so with the fact that Yuta had told Nobara the truth a few hours ago that she had been his bully in high school and that made her feel restless and even guilty.
Perhaps in a moment as magical as that, where her friend was living her dream come true, perhaps Nobara wouldn't question her at that moment about her stormy past. But the worst perhaps she was just about to come.
"I'm glad to hear that my music inspires people, and above all" Yuta took another quick look at Maki before continuing to look at Nobara "I'm very grateful to people like you who really value my work and support it" he replied with a sincere smile
Maki bit her lip slightly, she felt very uneasy every time Yuta turned to see her.
Dinner was still going on and there was something she didn't want to admit.
It hurt her to admit that the current Yuta was too attractive and if he was "somewhat" funny even in his "romantic" facet and even somewhat sexy off stage. She really couldn't help but watch him while she continued to feel left out of that dinner.
Nobara drank some more of her drink and then dared to ask some things that she wanted to know as a fan "Yuta, I really love your music and I would like to know if I can ask you something? From fan to artist?"
"Hmmmm" Yuta's lips tightened slightly and he let out that little noise from his throat.
"My privacy contract doesn't let me talk about more, but!" Yuta looked discreetly at Geto, who seemed to be very attentive to what they said and did at that table.
"But for you, we could make a small exception" He smiled "So, go ahead, what would you like to ask me?"
"I've always wanted to know what inspires you to compose? Where does that great inspiration come from? I ask because all your songs are loaded with emotions that you manage to convey with your voice" she asked curiously.
"Well" He put his hand to his chin while he thought a little about that answer, then he looked directly at both of them.
"I'm actually inspired by a lot of things. From everyday life itself, to the people I've met over the years. But above all I have been inspired by love as well as heartbreak" He look first at Maki and then shrugged before returning his gaze to Nobara "It could be said that all my romantic and tragic experiences have been reflected in my lyrics"
"That would explain why many of us feel identified with your songs" the orange-haired woman replied, drinking from her glass.
"Nobara san, do you have any song of mine that is your favorite?" Yuta asked curiously.
Nobara laughed a little nervously at such a question. "I would say that all your songs are my favorites, but there are two that I especially love, which are 'Wild, Sexy & Liar' and 'Until my last breath'... I can ask yourself, what inspired you to write those two songs in particular?"
Yuta looked at his drink for a moment and took a sip. His eyes lit up as if a memory had come to his mind.
"Well, those two songs in particular are inspired by the same girl." He sipped his drink and then began to explain.
"And as the title of Wild, Sexy & Liar says, the girl I'm talking about in that song was very rebellious, she always went against the rules and against the world, and she could easily get into trouble. Some would say that she was very 'wild'"
He sighed with nostalgia as he continued talking about that girl with a smile.
"And I must admit that she was very sexy since she was a good athlete, she was the best at playing basketball and she was always very beautiful . There was no girl who could compare to her at all" he breathed out as if something from the past still hurt him "But she was a liar regarding her feelings and how she saw the world. It could be said that she was even a little cruel, even with herself" he answered, leaning back a little on her chair while looking at both of them.
His countenance changed slightly, he seemed a bit nostalgic as he kept talking
"And Until my last breath is like a continuation of Wild, Sexy & Liar where the one who met that girl must make the difficult decision between whether to face her or not. you should let her go. Above all, that song talks about whether it is necessary to let go of that being that one loves so much but that at the same time hurts him so much"— he point to his neck—"just as my song says, one must decide if the rope that got entangled in the neck is cut to continue living or if it should be dropped to die along with his feelings for her" Yuta comment with a slight smile.
Those words surprised Maki, she felt perfectly that she was describing her in her high school years. She had been speechless that she had even left her cutlery on the half-eaten plate when she heard all that. Especially that last impact on her.
"That's very interesting and now those two songs make a lot of sense. Sorry for asking but what happened to that girl? Do you know what happened to her?" Nobara asked with the curiosity of a gossip reporter. "Sounds like she was a bitch." She placed her face on her hands.
Yuta let out a laugh that came from his chest for those words "Very good question" he playfully put his hand to his chin "I also wonder what happened to her since I lost track of her a while ago"
Then, Yuta look at the green-haired girl, paying too much attention to her "Is everything alright, Maki san?" He answered before asking for his glass to be filled. "You seem a bit distant. Is something wrong with you?" He had a mischievous smile on his lips.
Maki narrowed her eyes at such questions "I'm fine! I just kept thinking about everything you just said."
"Oh really?! What or rather, who did you think of? It seems that what I just told reminded you of someone! Yuta asked curiously. He wanted to put her in check.
"You didn't remind me of anyone in particular! It doesn't sound like any girl I've ever met!" Maki answered without letting him look into her eyes.
It was getting very tense between those two. He trying to pressure her and she, resisting to speak.
"I understand. And what do you think happened to her? What do you imagine happened to that girl?" Yuta kept insisting with the questions.
Maki felt her soul leaving her body. He really was talking about her indirectly because of how he pressed the issue.
"I don't know" she try to answer, sounding calm about all of this.
She brought her hand to her chin. She was trying to look very sure of herself. "Maybe she just went her own way and succeeded in her own way, or maybe she's already married and had children or maybe she's already dead or maybe she's moved to another city because she got a simple job or maybe she left the country. What do I know! Maybe that girl should just be out there living her life like it was nothing," she lied.
She swallowed secretly as she kept looking at Yuta directly in the face, that stupid smile of triumph really screwed him up.
"Yes, maybe she's living a happy life... although deep down I'd like to see her one more time or maybe I've already bumped into her there without knowing it" he answered with a smile before drinking from his glass.
She wanted to kill him, she felt the blood rushing through her whole body.
At that time, those three were approached by that singer's assistants, who interrupted that tense conversation.
"Yuta! We need a photo to promote them on your social networks!" the assistant Manami approached along with the staff photographer.
"Oh sure! I was having such a good time that I forgot that we should show off how I'm having a good time with our guests, especially with my number one fan" he said, passing his arm over the back of Nobara's chair.
"It doesn't bother you that they take a picture of us together, right Nobara san?" he asked with his face very close to that girl's.
"On the contrary, I feel lucky that I will be on your social networks!" comment she is posing next to Yuta for those photos.
Actually, they had nailed the tastes of that orange-haired girl, since she loved fashion, show business and being the center of attention and all of that combined with her.
Maki was still in shock from what had happened a moment ago.
The click of that professional camera sounded too loud at her side that she felt stunned for a moment before returning to reality.
Her eyes widened at such a scene. The looks of those two felt loaded with attraction that she could swear they would end up kissing at some point.
They seemed such a natural couple in front of such a camera that it even seemed like the whole "that girl" thing that Yuta described in his songs had been thrown aside like that no matter what.
Now a strange sensation invaded her chest. It was a strange tickling that burned and invaded her body in a kind of "anger" to see those two together. Especially to see Yuta enjoy all that.
Envy?
That scene brought back a faint memory from when she was in high school. She remembered that same feeling that burned inside her, she felt it sometime in the past and it involved Yuta together with another girl.
Was that feeling actually jealousy?
"Miss, you should also be in the photograph" commented the photographer, touching Maki's shoulder.
She shook her head slightly. "No thanks ... I'm not a big fan of his music" she said trying to keep her pride up.
"Even so, it must appear in the photograph, since the prize is for two people and we want the two winners to appear in the photo" Manami commented.
"I really don't..." Maki was interrupted.
"Leave her alone, Suda, Maki isn't very photogenic and to be honest, it wouldn't be good to make her angry either" Yuta commented with a smile, looking at her fixedly.
"What did you say?" Maki made an annoyed face at those words.
"I'm just telling the truth, it wouldn't be good to make you angry, right?" he said, crossing his arms, challenging his with those words.
"Ha ha, that's funny" she blurted out sarcastically "I just don't want to be in a photo next to you," she replied, maintaining her pride.
Maki looked back at him, challenging him to see if he said anything else. The atmosphere between those two again became tense and loaded with a kind of tug of war.
"Okay, if we need more photos we'll let you know" Manami said as the photographer showed her those photos from the professional camera.
"I like how these two look together, they would make a cute couple " Manami commented in a low voice, but Maki could hear that.
"Good! Edit them and upload them as usual to his main networks! Write a nice and romantic message about tonight with this fan" ordered Manami.
That made Maki's heart stop for a moment. Why the hell did she feel too mixed feelings at such words?
"We order the dessert?" Yuta asked as his hand continued to rest on Nobara's hand.
She responded affirmatively. She looked too excited.
Maki couldn't take it anymore. She really needed a breather from everything. She began to get dizzy with so many things that she heard and she felt bad about herself with all the feelings and regrets that she ate from the inside.
"Excuse me, I'll go to the bathroom..." she said getting up from her seat. She needed to get out of there.
Once Maki got out of the bathroom, she decided to go out of the restaurant to get some fresh air. She didn't want to go back to that table.
So she decided to go out through the emergency door that they had near the restrooms, which led into the alley through which the restaurant staff entered. She didn't want to go to the front because she knew that all of Yuta's security team was there.
Once she opened that door, she felt the cold breeze of the air hit her face because it was raining.
Luckily there was a small roof, which helped prevent the rain from falling on her.
Maki took a deep breath. She hated feeling like this. Although the word that came closest to her feeling was "Confusion"
"What the hell is happening to me?" She put her hand to her forehead. "It makes me angry and frustrated to see him in front of me! Although I also can't take my eyes off him! Curse!"
That night seemed to be a bad dream. One from which you want to escape because you know that you will pay the consequences of your past actions.
Now she needed something to calm her down.
"I need a cigarette..." she looked in the pockets of her jacket for a cigarette, sometimes she carried one. Which luckily she found.
"Where did I leave it?" Now she began looking for her lighter among her bags. "Damn! I'll surely leave that one in my bag!" She remembered that her handbag was still on the table where those two lovebirds were.
"I'll see if someone from the restaurant or the staff has a lighter"said Maki, resigned to looking for help.
And when she was about to turn around and go back into the restaurant, the emergency door opened.
Maki turned to see who was coming out, she hoped it was someone else coming out to smoke, but to her bad luck it was the one she was avoiding so much.
"Oh! Sorry, I thought this place was unoccupied" Yuta commented, closing the door behind him.
Maki pursed her lips in a grimace, while she put her cigarette back in her jacket pocket.
"What are you doing here?" she asked with a bit of annoyance.
"I think I should ask you that" Yuta said, moving closer to look at the rain "I thought something had hurt your stomach and that's why you were taking so long in the bathroom"
"Yes, I was going to vomit because seeing so much sugar was making me nauseous," she answered coldly.
Yuta let out a chesty laugh at those words, while he took a lighter and a cigarette from among the pockets of his jacket. "As always so sarcastic and what are you supposed to do out here in the rain?" he asked putting the cigarette to his lips.
Maki raised an eyebrow at seeing him with that white object between his lips.
"I didn't know you smoked, or rather, I thought that singers like YOU didn't smoke" She answer a little surprised.
Yuta lit his cigarette and began to smoke, blowing the smoke out of his mouth.
"People believe that idols and that all of us who work in the music and acting industry are saints who wouldn't touch one of these" he raised his cigarette a little between his fingers "But the truth is that many artists smoke and they drink like any mortal" He look at Maki while he inhaled that smoke again.
Then he exhale it to continue talking. "Besides, should I remind you who gave me one of these to try in high school?" He showed her the cigar.
Maki sighed and rolled her eyes. She and her sister were also to blame for him having tried the cigarette for the first time due to a silly dare.
"By the way. You haven't answered my question why you're out here" Yuta answered while he was still looking at the rain.
"You haven't answered mine either" Maki also looked at the rain.
"I? Well, as you can see, I just came to smoke" Yuta replied in a disinterested tone, his shoulders shrugged as he put the cigarette back on his lips "And you?" He turned his head slightly to look at her.
Maki sighed and decided to wait for the sound of thunder that rumbled in the night sky to pass.
"I went out for a moment to "relax"... you know what I mean" she showed her cigar while looking at it "but I forgot my lighter, so I'll go get it" She answer taking a step back.
But the following would surprise her.
"How about we share a fire?" Yuta said showing her his lighter.
"Are you sure you want me to stay here to smoke with you?" Maki raise an eyebrow, somewhat incredulous at what was happening.
"Yes, why not? Also, you could consider this as a sign of "peace" between us" Yuta commented, playing a little with that lighter.
Maki crossed her arms for a moment, she was very defensive and Yuta noticed that.
"You said it yourself a while ago, didn't you? This is already without grudges. Besides, we are no longer teenagers enough to "make ourselves worthy", the past is already past even with its damages" answered Yuta passing his thumb over the button and causing that tiny flame. "No grudges, right?"
Maki remained silent. Their gazes met once more. There was something very different about that boy, something that surprised her too much. He really wasn't the shy boy who would run away from her like he used to.
Yuta's words were right. They were no longer teenagers and he didn't notice hostility in her words or in his eyes.
"Okay... No Grudges?" Right?" asked Maki.
"No grudges..."
Yuta smiled a little as he held that flame, while Maki put the cigarette to her lips and approached the lighter.
Once that cigarette reacted to the fire, burning the tip and the smoke began to flow from it, Maki inhaled to hold it for a moment.
Her eyes fixed on Yuta's face. She watched him carefully. If you paid attention to him you could tell that he looked a little tired, but there was also a special glow about him.
Besides, those dark circles made him look attractive. As were the boys of his style and that he drove many girls crazy.
He decided to inhale once more from his cigar as he watched that girl light hers.
You could feel it. This was an unusual attraction. It was loaded perhaps with tension, but at the same time with something else. Something that some people call "where there was fire, ashes remain" and few people know that feeling and can relive it even over the years, especially when a feeling that was believed to be hidden deep within one still persists.
All of that could be comparable to that cigarette, which once it came into contact with fire, caused an addiction to it. So were the two of them.
That silence and those looks were still magnetic, that was until Maki decided to blurt out that smoke in Yuta's face.
"You still have the same bored face as always... although I admit that you look better now with that hairstyle" she answered with a smile as she brought the cigarette to her lips once more.
Yuta smiled a little, gently holding her chin, which made Maki's heart race and her eyes widen.
Yuta slightly brought his lips closer to hers and released that smoke. Maki felt her cheeks want to color from that daring action of that new boy.
"And you're still as proud as ever" Yuta reply, letting go of her and looking at the rain.
"What the hell was that?!" Maki's mind screamed at that gesture, she moved her head a little to get rid of that image of Yuta's lips close to hers.
"HA! Your cheap performances like the ones you're using with Nobara, where you pretend to be a daring gentleman, don't work with me" she said raising her face proudly, while her left hand went to her hips.
Yuta smiled a little at those words as he approached her again.
He released that smoke as he took another step towards that girl, making her lean against the wall.
Maki's heart raced too fast. But she tryed to make her face show disinterest in that act.
Yuta watched her carefully while Maki crossed her arms over her chest, without letting go of her cigarette.
"And who said that I am acting? Maybe this was always my true personality. I'm beginning to wonder why a girl as nice as Nobara has a friend as troublesome as you" he blurted out proudly.
"Besides" He looked at her from head to toe "Your acting doesn't seem to help you either, continuing to look at you as the "rebellious and tough girl with no heart" as you used to pretend... that armor of yours apparently broke years ago, and it seems that You are no longer "that Maki" that I met in high school" he said with a very serious tone, as he took a step back and leaned against the wall on one side of it, to continue looking at that alley and the rain falling.
That surprised Maki. Who quickly took her cigarette to her mouth to find comfort for everything that had happened and for what he had just told her.
That felt like a direct blow to her pride that she wasn't expecting.
They both remained silent for a few minutes, while they listened to the rain falling, leaning against the cold wall of the restaurant while that small roof covered their heads and their cigarettes continued to burn between each breath.
"Seriously..." Maki decided to break the silence, she seemed "calmer" once her pride let her speak "I never thought I'd see you again..." she looked at him from head to toe.
"Well, they say that the world is very small" Yuta was close to finishing his cigarette "Honestly, I didn't think I'd see you again either" He inhaled for a few seconds and then blew out that smoke while continuing to speak "yes, it was a big surprise to see you in the front row."
"Did you really recognize me among so many people?" Maki asked taking another puff on her cigar.
Yuta released the smoke through his nostrils "You are super recognizable from a distance" he threw the cigarette butt to the ground and crushed it to put it out "Also, I would never forget the face of the person who made my life impossible."
Maki sighed and put out what was left of her cigarette against the wall. "I suppose I'm sorry for all that I did to you in high school."
"You suppose?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry."
"Well, it doesn't seem like it..." Yuta whispered.
"Doesn't an "I'm sorry" count as an apology for you?" Maki looked at him seriously.
Yuta pursed his lips slightly as his hands went to his jacket pockets.
"Well, saying I'm sorry this way doesn't seem to be a real apology and more than you don't seem so sorry for your actions that we say" he answered without looking at her and shrugging his shoulders disinterestedly
"Although I've always believed that true apologies are accompanied by acts that show that people have changed and that they are truly sorry, and not with simple empty words taken from the ass" He continued looking towards the rain.
"It's about changing, not about continuing to apologize." He didn't flinch when he said that.
"It's okay if you don't want to accept my apology. I just don't care if you forgive me or not" she said seriously and also looking at the rain.
Yuta sighed a little "If you say so... I guess I'll believe it until I see it with my own eyes"
Maki better keep silent at those words. Maybe he was right. Maybe she had just said that "I'm sorry" just to feel less guilty.
That again became an uncomfortable silence, which was only overshadowed by the noise of thunder and the rain falling against the pavement.
Maki continued with so many doubts that something inside her encouraged her to continue asking.
"As was?"
"Huh? How was what? Be more specific in your questions" Yuta raised an eyebrow at such a strange question.
She take a breath "I mean, how did you go from being a loser to this? A singer overnight." Maki asked moving her hand up and down, pointing at him.
Yuta laughed mockingly at that question. "Surprised that a failure like me has turned into this?" His right hand went up and down as he pointed to himself.
Maki pursed her lips.
"From the expression you just made, I can assume that your answer was a big YES!" he breathed in a pout that even moved his bangs a bit "Well, let's just say it was "lucky." A Boring like me, he was just lucky enough to bump into the right person at the lowest point in the lives of both of us involved"
"Are you just going to say that?"
"Yes" It seemed that Yuta was not going to say more about that topic.
Maki raised her eyebrows at such an answer "I see..." She crossed her arms for a moment on her chest "And why did you come back to Tokyo?" she asked again.
"Wow, you're just as curious as Nobara" Yuta replied raising his eyebrows.
She just shrugged her shoulders "We're friends for a reason" she answered with a smile "I'll ask you again, why did you come back?"
"Okay, I guess I might as well make an exception with you about breaking my 'privacy contract' a bit" He reply sarcastically as he took his hands out of his sweatshirt and crossed her arms over his chest. "But before I answer that, what about you?" What is that question about?" Yuta turned his head slightly to look at her.
She look at him seriously. "Why? Well because from what I remember, you hated this city right?"
"I'm surprised that you still remember what I said when I was younger. Do you still miss me and remember me?" Yuta asked curiously.
"HA! Not at all! On the contrary, just a few hours ago I remembered who you were!" Maki answered with a few touches of mockery, rolling her eyes and gently pinching the inside of her cheek.
"Then why do you ask?" Yuta asked with a smile.
"Because as I said, I remember that you said that you hated Tokyo with all your soul. So why come back here?" Maki looked him in the eye.
"And you are completely sure that I hated this city? Yuta asked curiously.
"Maybe. Although that doesn't answer my question about why go back to where you weren't happy?" She continued looking into his eyes.
Yuta sighed "Okay, I guess I'll have to give you the exclusive with that question you just asked me" he rested his foot on the wall for a moment "In simple words, I came back for work reasons and as you could see, here was the closing of my tour."
"I don't know why it sounds to me like it was against your will to come here," that's what Intuition told Maki.
"Something like that, but then I kept reflecting that sometimes we have to return to our starting point or to the place where we weren't completely happy in order to make important decisions. Although now that I am back in this city, I can say that the inspiration I was looking for for my next musical project seems to have come in the least expected way. Also, first I plan to take a break and remember old times" he answered without taking his eyes off her.
"So?" Maki hid her hands behind her back for a moment. "How long do you plan to stay?"
"What is that question about? Do you want to see me again while I'm here?" He smiled a little sarcasticallyr"Or do you think about looking for my address to continue bullying me? If so, to put a restraining order on you"
"Idiot... she asked simply out of curiosit" — although something inside her wanted to see him again — "and more than that you just said that you have a musical Project" she answered annoyed.
"That's how it is. Like I said, I came to Tokyo to take a break and I came looking for inspiration along the way. Arguably I just found my "Mona Lisa" for said inspiration. And about how long will I stay here?" He put her hand to his chin and looked at the ceiling
"I don't know how long I stayed in Japan, it could be a month, three months, six months, a year. The truth is that it will depend on my contracts and the production with the new project that we have on the door"
He laughed mockingly while looking at Maki "So I guess you'll see my face everywhere and by the way, you'll have news about me very often. I guess that way you won't "miss me" so much anymore."
Maki twisted her mouth and rolled her eyes at that answer. "I hope I don't see you so often"
"Who knows, maybe we'll bump into each other more often than you think" he replied, sighing with a quiet smile.
"Although I have one more question…" Maki said somewhat thoughtfully.
"About what?"
"It's about what you said earlier. What you said in your dressing room is true?" Maki's cheeks burned a little, she wanted to get that doubt out of her chest "What did you want to see me about again?" She look into his eyes. "Was what you said there true?"
"Do you really want to know that answer?" Yuta asked curiously.
"I suppose so" she said coldly, although inside, Maki really wanted to know the truth behind those words.
Yuta again took a few steps towards her, facing her again.
Maki crossed her arms over her chest as a sign of nerves and that she wanted to keep her distance from him. But what he would say next would surprise her too much to the point of loosening her hands.
"As illogical as it may sound... There was a desire within me to see you again and to know what had happened to you, I know! It can sound very contradictory and even more so knowing all the damage you did to me years ago…" he looked into her eyes "But I suppose that perhaps "something", I don't know, he fulfilled it and look us, again we met in the least expected way" he smiled a little shrugging his shoulders.
"I see..." Maki tried to sound serious. Her heart was beating very fast and her cheeks were a little red from both the closeness and the response. She felt very strange about all of this.
"And you Maki? Did you ever miss me or think about me after I left?" Yuta asked in a whisper to her ear, and then bring his face a little closer to hers.
Maki let out her breath suddenly, her lips trembled a little, as did her being. It seemed that her armor had vanished.
"You could say that if..."
"Yes what?" Yuta whispered, now focusing on her eyes, while he was inches away from her.
"Yes, I thought of you and more when you ran away from the city" She admitted with shame and with a somewhat hot face "Especially because I kept thinking about everything that happened between..." She whispered but she couldn't finish speaking, since she felt how Yuta brought his lips closer to hers.
She gently rested her hands on Yuta's chest, once she felt that his hands rested on the wall next to her face.
They really were very close to each other.
"Between us? Oh... " his lips were very close to hers, touching them very slowly. Maki could feel his stupid smile on her mouth "Do you mean that that no one else knows and what happened between us before you decided to humiliate me and plunge me into the most terrible depression of my life?"
Maki felt her chest heave as she felt him very close to her. Her lips trembled once Yuta's lips kept brushing hers.
That was a feeling that she hadn't felt in a long time and that perhaps she didn't feel for any other boy after him.
"I already told you that I'm sorry for hurting you…" she whispered, feeling his breath fall on her mouth and closing her eyes.
Only they knew that it had been a long time before Maki decided to make his life hell in high school. It seemed to be a closely guarded secret that reacted to the slightest touch of their lips. Something that only the two of them could count and remember.
"Maki... I..." Yuta whispered into her lips. Making her shudder a little.
Her breath wanted to stop when she felt the lips of he brush against hers and more so with that nicotine flavor that made them more addictive.
"Yuta..." she whispered, waiting for him to advance with the kiss. A kiss that had previously been given in her adolescence.
Yuta's lips formed a somewhat mischievous smile. It seemed that a memory crossed his mind.
Although having her that way moved many feelings that he have kept for so long, he did not want to give in to that instinct to deepen the kiss and remember her skin.
The following he would do more out of spite and pride.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered, as he took a few steps back.
That action left Maki puzzled. Who was catching her breath, her eyes snapped open and her cheeks burned red.
She was confused and somewhat regretful. She felt bad for having given in to that wish, Yuta had said well, her armor no longer protected her.
It seemed that his Karma was just beginning.
"Don't take it the wrong way, but it's still a bit difficult to forgive you for all the damage you did to me and although I really will miss your kisses and your skin and remember what we were before, the invisible marks of what you did to me, they make it still difficult for me to forgive you... even so, I don't hold a grudge against you and maybe things should be like that. Without grudges and from scratch? Don't you think? Maybe we could pretend that this never happened or that it was never about to happen and everyone could continue with his life, as if we had never met" he began to approach the door while looking at his digital clock.
"Look at the time it is! It's already too late and maybe you and Nobara should go home, plus the boys and I want to go to a bar to celebrate our closing tour. It's too late for them to catch the last train, so I'll tell Geto to assign them a driver and take them home" He smiled as he turned around to open that door.
"Yuta!" Maki shouted to stop him "Is what you said at dinner also true?" Maki asked, still leaning against the wall, while catching her breath from everything that had happened. "What are those two songs talking about me about?"
Yuta stopped at such a question. He turned and went back the way he had walked.
"Those songs were made for me?" she questioned again.
"Are you sure those songs are about you?" Yuta question, taking a few steps back towards her.
"Well, when you described "that girl"... I felt it very personal... I felt like you were talking about me..."
Yuta looked at the ceiling and took a breath. "Why don't you find out for yourself?"
"What?" she yelled, somewhat annoyed by his change of attitude. "Seriously, your acting as a fuckboy is bad"
Yuta smiled a Little "Why don't you listen to those songs and find out for yourself to know if I'm really talking about you" he replied without getting too close to her.
"So those two songs do talk about me?" Maki look at him seriously, with my head against the cold wall.
"I already gave you my answer, it's better that you find out for yourself..." he put a lock of hair behind her ear "As I said, I have reflected my experiences in my songs, maybe you could find several clues there about what What happened to my life even in these four years..."
"And why don't you tell me right now? Was that thing you said about "missing me" a lie? Did you just say that to take advantage of a girl who won your stupid backstage tickets?" She ask sarcastically.
Truly, there was a strange tension between them that was as palpable as that wall.
Yuta rolled his eyes "As wild as always" he smiled and looked at her as he took a few steps back "It's better that you find out for yourself since my songs speak the truth"
"You! Come back here and answer me!" Maki blurted out angrily at that answer.
"No grudges! You said it! Besides, I don't think it's the last time we'll see each other again!" Yuta took the lever of that door.
"Oh! And before I forget!" He opened that door and looked at Maki with a big smile "Now that it could be said that what happened to us was "fixed" and I was left in a neutral state, I wanted to ask you what... Doesn't it bother you that I start to have contact or that I start going out with your friend Nobara, right?"
"WHAT?! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" she replied in a combination of surprise and fury.
Yuta smiled when he saw Maki's face at such words.
"I'm talking about going out and working together with her. Nobara is a very attractive girl and it seems that she likes everything related to this world. Plus I heard my manager say that it seems she could be a great model" He had a big smile on his face when talking about her "Besides, apparently we both made an instant connection... I guess she's a good source of inspiration and the best thing is that she's my fan" He seemed excited.
"Yuta, don't you dare come near my friend!"
"I guess we'll see each other often!" See you later, Maki-san!" he said, entering the restaurant again.
"Yuta Okkotsu!" Maki shouted.
But that artist did not listen to her. Yuta just closed the door behind him.
Maki screamed in anger for that and for being an idiot for letting herself be carried away by that boy who, in one way or another, made feelings inside her come to light.
Guilt, remorse and attraction. Definitely her Karma had started.
After calming down, Maki entered the restaurant again only to feel her heart shrink.
Maki saw Nobara, all excited and happy talking with Yuta and his manager Geto.
Things for the green-haired girl would only get worse with her bad luck.
Notes:
I hope you liked this second chapter ️
What do you think about this story? are you liking it?
Because I've noticed that many of you have been very interested in it.
I'm really excited to write this side of them in a different way.
And let me clarify, the title might take relevance later on and more that I was simply inspired by the song's title to write this. Not in the song itself, because then they come to leave me hurtful comments, I clarify, this is just an inspiration of the title of a song.
Anyway, Maki and Yuta had their past and maybe later I will explore it, for the moment I want to make this as a roller coaster. I hope to make it.
Fast forward, the update will be a bit slow for the moment because I'm still putting this story together without trying to neglect all the others. No wonder I'm a mess of a writer haha.
Anyway, thanks for all your apoyo❤️
