GATE-001: My soul's burning bright! Let's kick off this new semester with a bang!
A young teenage girl, about 15 or 16, was laying a bed with rose-red covers covering her body as an alarm clock started to ring in her ears loudly, causing her to slam the palm of her hand onto the device and got up, rubbing her eyes sleepily as she got up and gave a hefty yawn before giving a huge smile. She jumped off the bed before walking over to the closet, getting changed into a new outfit, a pair of square-shaped goggles, a black shirt with a red jacket around her waist, black jeans and red sneakers. She had hectrocromic eyes (1 blue 1 green), fair-coloured skin and long thick red hair tied back into two large dark twintails, one red and one blue, a red hair bun and two dark blue hair bangs that sat on her shoulders.
She smiled as she picked up a deck of cards and a strange box-shaped device and placed them in a light red backpack. She then walked over to the door and ran down the hallway as a older boy looked from his room with a smile. The girl smirked as the older boy walking in. He had short red hair with short gold streaks running though it and light green eyes. He was wearing a dark red jacket over a white shirt, a white whist-watch, black jeans and red sneakers. "You ready for your first day at Eastwood Academy, Yukiko?" he asked. The girl smiled. "Yeah!" she said with a huge grin on her face.

The boy smirked before noticing some hesitation in his sister and raised an eyebrow. "You okay?" he asked as Yukiko looked down. "Think That I'll mess up." she asked. He then place a hand on her shoulder and gave a large smirk. "Don't worry, you'll do fine, now, knock em dead." he said as Yukiko gave a nod before she left for Eastwood Academy. He then gave a huff as the screen of his watch started to blink red, "I'll leave the rest to you now, sis." he said.

*8 Minute Intro* (Yukiko's D-Grid's screen flashed blue and she smirked as she put the device on her whist with a smirk and she jumped upwards in the sky.)
I look to the sky, wandering how long it would take. (Yukiko then seen looking upwards into the sky with a curious look on her face.)
I just keep going on, no matter how many obstacles are in my way! (A silhouette of a boy was standing in front of a strange looking pipe-like structure before a humanoid monster jumped out of the pipe.)
An unknown road, but I know it leads to a brighter world (A silhouette of a girl was walking though a city centre with the silhouette of a regal-knight-like monster floating above her.)
Somewhere out there, I know your smiling there, waiting out for me. (Here I go!) (Yukiko is then seen looking around a dark room with the silhouette of multiple figures surrounding her with the only one visible to the camera with glowing green eyes before snapping his fingers as a large mantis-like monster smashed though the glass.)
Roll The Dice, Roll The Dice! Come on! We're won't give in, We'll move on towards the future! (Yukiko slammed a card on the blade of the D-Grid before a humanoid warrior appeared from an hexagonal portal before reeling her fist backwards and fired a fist coated in spiralling red flame-like energy into the mantis' face, caving it in and causing an huge explosion.)
Bring it On, Bring it On! Let's Go! Hope is strong and it'll find a way! (A silhouette was gazing into the moonlight with a dark smirk on her face, her cold red eyes glaring at the moon.)
We're living every moment in the present, shining on the stage! (Yukiko and the two silhouettes were looking upwards to the sun as three lights (1 Violet, 1 White, 1 Black) flew upwards and collided with each other, transforming into the title screen with the team posing.)

Yukiko walked down a busy street with a small smile on her face while humming a short tune to herself. She looked up at a billboard that read 'Welcome to the future, sponsored by Atlas.' "Interesting..." Yukako whipped around to see a man wearing a black cloak with a green lining on it that covered his head so she couldn't see his features. "So, they try to bring a happy outwards image but underneath there's a darker meaning under there." he said as Yukiko just looked in confusion. The man just simply looked her direction, giving her a glimpse of his neon green eyes before giving a small smirk. Suddenly, in a blink of an eye, he vanished, leaving a confused Yukiko just looking around the area.
At a large school complex, Yukiko gave a small breath, she had a weird encounter with a cloaked man who somehow disappeared from view. She was looking at the entrance of Eastwood Academy. Kids were lofting in the school yards, chatting and just hanging out. A bell suddenly rang out, alerting all the kids in the area to go inside. She gave a small breath before entering the building.
Yukiko walked through a large hallway, looking for her class. She stopped and pulled out a sheet of paper with the words B122 on before looking up at a sign that read B122, "That must be it." she answered as she walked inside. The entire class looked over at her direction and she immediately froze up. "Oh, you must be the new student that just transferred." the teacher, a attractive woman with long chestnut brown hair and ocean-blue eyes, asked as Yukiko found her composure again. "Y-yeah, Transferred from Neo Domino High." Yukiko answered nervously. The teacher gave a small smile before looking around for a spare seat for Yukiko to seat in. Her eyes landed on a seat beside a boy, Yushida's age, with short light pink hair and blue eyes who was just playing on a portable game console. "You can sit next to Touma." she said as Yushida nodded and walked over to the desk, taking a seat next to the boy who didn't looked up at her or greets her. "Hi, I'm Yukako Kusumoto, what's your name?" the red haired girl asked as the boy just looked up from his game for about a minute before looking back down at the game. "Okay, nice talk." Yukako answered with clear sarcasm in her voice.
A few hours later, Yukiko was sitting on her own at a table with a ham and chicken salad sandwich in her hands with the pink haired boy walked over to her table, he wasn't playing his video game. "Hey, newbie, You want to know where you can get new cards?" he asked as Yukiko looked over at him with her mouth filled in ham and fried chicken. "Hmm?" she answered, swallowing the food. "Yeah, there's a card vendor at the end of the hall." he answered as Yukiko just thought for a second before looking up at the boy. "Lead the way." she answered as she got up and the two walked towards the vendor.

Yukiko was sceptical about the card vendor and she never heard of such a thing as a card vendor. That was when she saw what she thought was a red and blue arcade machine. "Uh, Touma?" Yukiko asked. "Yeah?" Touma asked. "Why am I looking at a random arcade cabinet in the middle of the hall?" the multi-coloured-haired girl asked as Touma put his hands on his waist. "It's the card vendor." he said simply. Yukiko just looked at the device and noticed a slot at the side of the machine and in place of game controls, there was a keyboard. "What deck do you use?" Touma asked unexpectedly. "Uhm...Network HEROes, why?" Yukiko answered as Touma approached the machine and tapped on the keyboard, the machine started to shake before a booster pack slipped out. He picked up and threw it over to Yukiko who caught in her hands before looking at it and her jaw dropped. "This is the newest Booster Pack for Network HEROes." she said as she carefully open the pack and examined the contents. "Well, this is new." Touma said as Yukiko revealed a half-red, half-blue card with eight navy orbs with light blue stars inside of them. "Oh Sweet, I got a new Gradient Monster." She answered as Touma looked over at her with a confused look on his face. "Gradient?" Touma asked as Yukiko nodded. "Yeah, They're pretty new. You see, Gradient Monsters are Extra Deck monsters, just like Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters. They require a Synthesis Monster and 1 or more monsters as material." Yukiko explained, Touma blinking twice before answering. "So, their like Synchro Monsters?" Touma asked as Yukiko shook her head. "Gradient Monsters don't have levels, they have affinities." the red-and-blue-haired girl explained as Touma had a face of confusion. "What?" he asked, clearly not following. "They don't have levels, they have affinities that are double the level of the Synthesis Monster and their material are connected to them similar to Xyz Monster's Material" Yukiko repeated, adding a new detail to her explanation. "Oh, okay." Touma answered with a slightly confused look on his face.
Yukiko then looked around to see a group of boys walked over to them. "Uh, Touma, who are they?" the multi-coloured-haired girl said as she tapped on the pink-haired boy's shoulder. Touma turned around and his eyes widened in fear. "Oh no..." Touma said as the tallest boy walked towards him. "Oh, look who it is, it's nerd boy." he said as Touma turned to leave but the boy placed his hand on his shoulder. "Hey, bud, I wasn't done talking to you." he said as Touma snarled. "Hey!" All the males looked around to see Yukiko glaring at the leader of the group. "He doesn't want to deal with your stupid asses, so just bug off." she said as the head boy snarled while Touma gave a fearful look. "Mind you own, business, kid." the boy snapped while Yukiko smirked, knowing that she was ticking this imbecile off. "Oh, and why's that, just scared that he might be a better duelist then you?" Yukiko answered smugly as the older boy clutched his fist while Touma just looked on in a cross between appreciation and pity.
The first boy growled before his face twisted into a cruel smile. "Oh and what makes you think your a better duelist?" he said as Yukako looked up and just smirked. "Yeah." she answered as the rest of the group just stepped back in shock at her sudden declaration. The first boy dropped Touma who landed somewhat-gracefully on his butt. The leader just smirked darkly. "Well, then, You haven't faced me, I'm the strongest duelist here so you can't even call yourself a real duelist unless you beat me." The leader answered as Yukiko raised a eyebrow, amused.
"Not True."
Yukiko, Touma and the other kids looked over to see a young girl, the same age of Yukiko, leaning against a wall. She had spiralling pink hair with dark pink highlights in it, light blue eyes and freckles on her face. She was wearing a pink jacket over a black shirt, black jeans and light pink shoes. She was also chewing gum. The main boy growled and Yukako tilted his head to the side in confusion. The lead boy had flaming red eyes and spiky sand-blue hair. He was wearing a sand-brown jacket, black jeans and dark red sneakers. The girl stepped in between the boy and Yukiko and looked over at Touma. "Touma." she said bluntly as Touma nodded in understanding. "Chihiro." He responded.

"Stay out of this, Akiyama." the bully yelled with some much venom in his mouth, Yukako was sure that somekind of biohazardous liquid would spit out of his mouth when he said that. Chihiro simply looked at him right in the eye, her face unchanging from the scowl that sat front and centre on her face. "You are the second worst duelist in this school, I bet that kid could wipe the floor without using her normal summon." Chihiro answered. "S-Shut up!" the bully yelled in rage. Yukako simply tilted her head again. "I-I can beat her easily." the bully yelled as Chihiro gave a small smirk. "Then, show me and I MIGHT not tell you know who." she answered as she tapped her cheek knowingly while the rest of the bully's gang gasped. The bully went white before he growled. "Fine!" he answered. "I don't get a choice here, do I?" Yushida asked with Chihiro shaking her head. "Of Course, I don't." Yukiko said sarcastically.
A FEW HOUR LATER...
Yukiko and the bully were both standing opposite to each other, with the other kids standing as an audience. Yukiko gave a small smile before frowning. "Hey, before we begin, can I at least know your name?" she asked the bully who just tilted his head in confusion. "It's Kirito, why?" he asked before Yukiko smirked confidently. "Just wanted know your name before I defeat you." the multi-coloured haired girl answered as Kirito smirked as well. He was feeling something else then his usual anger, a feeling he rarely felt, competitiveness. "Oh, we'll see about that." he yelled back. Yukiko grabbed the strange box shaped item and tossed it into the air, it shifting into a new device that strapped onto her right arm. It was a rectangular shaped device with three different slots located on different parts of the device. One located on the top, one located on the lower base and one located opposite to the second one. A large cybernetic blade formed as Yukiko placed her deck in the first slot. "D-Grid set!" she yelled while Kirito did the same with a new device, a dark blue version with black stripes on the base that strapped around his left arm with a dark red. Yukiko swiped her index finger over her eyes that formed a cybernetic cyan visor over them. "D-Visor, set!" she yelled before Kirito did the same, producing a blood-red visor over his eyes. A large cybernetic field formed around them and the other kids, creating a grid-like pattern on the ground. 'Grid Duels, a type of Dueling that makes use of the Grid System, a modified Solid Vision created by Atlas. Let's see what this chick can do.' Chihiro thought as both Yukiko and Kirito drew 5 cards and looked at each other confidently.

Yukiko took the first turn. "Boku no Turn! Draw!" she yelled as she drew her card. `Nice, great hand!' she thought. "Network HERO Red Beetle Shoukan!" she yelled as she slammed the card on the holographic blade. A light blue hexagonal portal opened up from nowhere and a black gloved arm thrusted out of the other side, the arm belong to a young girl who pulled herself out of the portal as it closed. She had fair skin, dark blue hair tied up into two pigtails by two big puffy red-coloured bows and bluebell-coloured eyes. She was wearing a red helmet with black spots and a cyan visor, the helmet also seemed to be designed in a way so that her pigtails could flow freely, a red jacket with black spots with gold rings around them, over a black shirt, black shorts, red and black striped leggings and futuristic red sneakers. She swung a red yoyo with black spots scattered on it. She got into a battle stance as she spun her yoyo in a circle.
Network HERO Red Beetle FIRE Level 4 Warrior/Effect ATK:1200/DEF:1300
"Next, Network HERO Red Beetle no kouka hatsudo! I can add 1 "Metaverse" Spell/Trap from my Deck to my Hand! I choose Metaverse Zero!" she yelled as Red Beetle snapped her fingers before flinging her yoyo upwards which started to glow a red colour as a light pink card floated out of Yukiko's deck and the redheaded girl grabbed it. "Kaado ni Settai! Turn End!" she yelled as 2 Spell or Trap Cards appeared behind Red Beetle. Kirito smirked. "Ore no Turn! Draw!" he yelled as he started his turn. "Kraken Egg Shoukan!" he yelled as he slammed the card on the blade. The ground suddenly started to ripple like water before a large grey egg-shaped object with turquoise spots on it. It also had holes with black tentacles spewing out of the holes.

'0 ATK? Something's up!' Yukiko thought as Kirito smirked. "Kraken Egg no kouka hatsudo! I can tribute it to Special Summon 2 DARK and/or WATER "Kraken" monsters from my Deck!" he answered as the egg started to crack and shake before it exploded in a greyish-blue puff of smoke. As the smoke cleared, two large constructs similar to ships from 13th century were in the egg's place. They were old, made from a red wooden material of somekind that seemed to have rotted over the years. Multiple tentacles seemed to spiral out of the constructs.
Cursed Kraken DARK Level 6 Aqua/Effect ATK:2200/DEF:1200 X2
"Battle! Cursed Kraken attack Network HERO Red Beetle!" Kirito yelled as the ship floated forwards at the ladybug-themed-girl who brought her yoyo in a battle pose. "Network HERO Red Beetle no kouka hatsudo! All Monsters you control lose 500 ATK/DEF!" Yukiko answered as Red Beetle fling her yoyo into the air and swung it in a circle over the other monster's heads, causing pink rose petals to fall on the other monsters.
Cursed Kraken ATK:1700/DEF:700 X2
"Still, strong enough to nuke your bug, Continue your attack!" Kirito yelled as Yukiko just smirked. "Trap Hatsudo! Metaverse Zero! When a monster that has it's original ATK/DEF altered battles, I can negate that attack and add 1 "Network HERO" monster or "Metaverse" card from my Deck to my Hand!" Yukiko explained as the ship charged forward and crashed into an holographic shield. A card then slid out of Yukiko's deck and she grabbed it. "I still got my other Cursed Kraken! Attack!" Kirito yelled as the other cursed ship sailed though the sky. "And it is a good thing that I set a second copy of Metaverse Zero!" she yelled as she activated the second copy she set. "Damn it, Kaado ichi Settai! Turn End!" Kirito growled as he set the card.

"Boku no Turn! Draw!" Yukiko yelled as she drew her new card. "First, I can equip Network HERO Synthetic Upgrade to Network HERO Red Beetle!" she said as a card in her hand glowed. From a portal, a small sleek black and white blob with an purple eye shaped image slid out as Red Beetle noticed it. The blob looked up before bouncing on Red Beetle, seemly merging with her. Her appearance was the same as before but instead of her ordinary red and black spots, her outfit was black with white paint splats on her outfit, the jacket, helmet and bows were more spiky. Her eyes were now a blight green. Her yoyo was also upgraded to the same black and white colour as her outfit. She smirked as she placed her hand on her waist.

"Next, Network HERO Twin Swordsman Tokushu Shōkan!" she yelled as she slammed the card on the disk. Another light-blue hexagonal portal opened up as a young man, about in his mid-20s, stepped out the portal before it vanished. He had spiky black hair and crystal blue eyes that seemed to twinkle in the sunlight. He was wearing a dark blue tunic underneath a dark blue trenchcoat with sliver lining, black jeans and brown boots. He was also wielding two swords, the blades gleamed a sliver glow. He seethed both swords and gave a focused look.
Network HERO Twin Swordsman DARK Level 5 Warrior/Effect ATK:1900/DEF:1200
"How did you summon that, it's level 5!" One of Kirito's cronies yelled, the others agreeing with him. "Twin Swordsman can be Special Summoned from my hand when I control a "Network HERO" monster." Yukiko explained. Touma smirked as Kirito' eyes widened. "That means..." Touma started as Yukiko snapped her fingers. "I haven't use my Normal Summon yet!" she yelled. "Network HERO Cyber Spider Shokan!" she yelled as she played the new card. From a third portal, a strange white string slapped onto the ground, sticking to it before it quickly recoiled as another monster propelled himself from the portal. He was a young man with short brown hair and light blue eyes and was wearing a red mask with a spider design on it, a red and blue jacket over a black shirt with a red spider emblem on the front, black jeans and red boots with black laces. He gave two peace signs when he landed and winked.
Network HERO Cyber Spider LIGHT Level 4 Cyberse/Effect ATK:1200/DEF:1200
"I-It doesn't matter! My Krakens still have more attack then your monsters!" he yelled. Yukiko simply smirked. "Magic Card, Metaverse Festival, Hatsudo! I can target 2 or more "Network HERO" monsters I control, they gains ATK equal to the number of monsters I control with different attributes or types x 100!" Yukako answered as Red Beetle gave a smirk as Cyber Spider gave a peace sign and Twin Swordsman gave a nod. "Twin Swordsman has DARK, Red Beetle has FIRE and Cyber Spider is LIGHT, so, that's 300 attack for them each!" the redhead yelled as all three monsters glowed a red (Red Beetle), purple (Twin Swordsman) and yellow (Cyber Spider) aura each.

"S-still not enough!" Kirito stuttered as Yukiko huffed. "You still don't get it, don't you? Equip Magic, Metaverse Blitz-Strike, Hatsudo! I can equip it to Network HERO Twin Swordsman and when I do, he gains 400 ATK and can attack twice!" she explained as both as Twin Swordsman's swords started to glow a purple light.

Kirito started sweating. "Not good!" he said as Yushida smirked. "Battle! Network HERO Twin Swordsman attack Cursed Kraken #001!" Yukiko pointed at the beast on the left. Twin Swordsman leapt over and slashed though the monster, Kirito flinched a little as he took the damage.

"When Cursed Kraken is destroyed in battle or card effect, I can draw 1 card." Kirito said, as he drew a card. "Next, Twin Swordsman attack the other one!" Yukiko yelled as the swordsman dashed forwards and slashed though the second kraken like it was butter. Kirito pull his arms in front of himself as the holographic smoke and fire washed over him.

"Cursed Kraken's effect, Draw!" he yelled as he drew his card. "Next, Red Beetle attack!" Yukiko yelled as Red Beetle gave a thumbs up and jumped forwards and threw her enhanced yoyo at Kirito, Kirito had just enough time to see the yoyo before it slammed into his face. As the yoyo receded, Kirito was rubbing his throbbing forehead.

"And to finish up, Cyber Spider attack!" Cyber Spider nodded before firing a purple coloured web that landed near Kirito, exploding nearby. Kirito pulled his arms in front of his face as the smoke flushed over him.

"Kaado ichi Settai! Turn End!" Yukiko said as she set a single Magic or Trap card. Kirito gave a smirk. "Ore no Turn, Draw!" he yelled as he drew his card and looked at his hand. 'Perfect!' he thought. "First, Magic Card, Kraken's Heaven, Hatsudo!" he yelled as he played the card. The ground rippled like water as a large monument rose up from the ground. "What the...?" Yukiko wondered as Kirito smirked. "I can target 1 WATER or DARK Aqua monster in my GY and if I do, I can Special Summon it!" he yelled as he looked at his graveyard. "I chose Kraken Egg!" he yelled as the tentacle spewing egg creature floated out. "Again?" Yukiko asked. "Now, Skill Hatsudo! Dead Deep Calling!" Kirito yelled as a cybernetic card appeared in his hand. Kirito's group gave a cheer while Touma gave a small growl. Chihiro tilted her head to the side in confusion. "That's new." she simply said. "S-Skills? We're using skills?!" Yukiko panicked. "That's just the power of Grid Duel, kid, Since I have 1000 or less Life Points while I control a WATER or DARK Aqua monster, I can activate this skill." Kirito yelled. "I can Special Summon 2 WATER and/or DARK Aqua monsters from my GY and if I do, all Aqua Monsters I control become the same level as the Special Summoned Monsters!" he yelled as the ground rippled like water and his previous monsters rose up, Kraken's Egg briefly glowed purple.

[THEME CHANGE: CONSTRUCTING THE NETWORK (Xyz Summoning Theme #1)]
`Three Level 6s, could he be...?` Yukiko thought to herself, worrying herself. Kirito's next move proved her current thoughts. "Ore no, Reberu Roku Kraken's Egg to, Cursed Kraken ni tai de, Obarei (I overlay Level 6 Kraken's Egg and my 2 Cursed Krakens)!" Kirito yelled, raising his hand upwards. The three beings on Kirito's field glowed purple before transforming into orbs of purple code that streaked upwards. A cybernetic portal opened in the sky and the three orbs flew inside. "San tai no monsuta de, Obarei Netwaaku kochiku (With these three monsters, I construct the Overlay Network)! Ekushiizu Shokan (Xyz Summon)!" From the portal, a large cocoon floated downwards. The cocoon started to show light purple cracks running across it. "Arawareyo (Come forth)!" the cracks started to spread across the cocoon before it shattered as the contents of the cocoon fell out. It was a tall humanoid, cladded in jet-black armour with various deep purple opals on the body, and greyish octopus tentacles wrapped around his limbs. It's eyes flashed a dark violet purple colour. "Abyss Kraken, Zelgigus!" The creature grabbed a lance from nowhere and roared, three purple orbs orbited around it.

Yukiko gulped hard. "Crud..." she muttered softly. Kirito's group cheered loudly as Touma sweatdropped. "Crap." he muttered before he heard a whistle from behind him. Chihiro simply unwrapped a lollipop, orange flavoured, and put in her mouth. Her light blue eyes focused on the duel. Touma simply growled as she noticed and just smirked. "Abyss Daemon Kraken, Zelgigus no Kouka Hatsudo! I can detach 1 Overlay Unit from this card and If I do, I can target 2 or more monsters my opponent controls and if I do, this card gains 200 ATK for every monster destroyed by this effect!" Kirito declared. A orb orbiting him slammed into the jewel on his chest and then, all the jewels started to glow a ominous purple colour. Suddenly, massive beams of purple energy fired out of the gems and slammed into Cyber Spider and Twin Swordsman, both monsters glowed purple and yellow respectively before transforming into orbs of yellow and purple light and were absorbed into the opals on Zelgigus' torso which glowed a ominous lilac colour.
Abyss Daemon Kraken, Zelgigus: ATK:2600 + 200 X 2 = 3000
Yukiko gulped heavily. "Things just got from bad to worse." she muttered under her breath, her last remaining monster was slightly shivering in fear. "Battle! Abyss Daemon Kraken, Zelgigus, attack Network HERO Red Beetle!" Kirito commanded, the colossal beast's eyes flashed purple before he leapt forward and pierced though Red Beetle's torso, she hobbled over as the lance was pulled out before distegrating in a puff of smoke. Yukiko suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest. 'Holy Shit, that hurt, guess that's what the Grid System does.` She thought.

"Next, Trap Card, Thalassophobia, Hatsudo!" Daniel yelled as Yukiko tilted her head. "Thalassophobia, never heard that one?" she said before a huge feeling of dread suddenly washed over her and the spark in her eyes vanished. "Oh, I get it." she muttered in soft mortified tone, as Touma and Chihiro gulped which all other sound was drowned out by Kirito's group's cheering. "When a WATER or DARK Aqua monster destroys a monster in battle, I can inflict 500 points of damage to my opponent for every level 4 or lower non-Aqua monster in their GY, you have three, so pay up!" Kirito yelled as Yukako's eyes suddenly darkened and purple sparks danced around her body.

Yukiko shook her head and shivered, her spark back and her eyes returning to their normal colours. "Never again." she muttered in a dark and icy tone in her voice. 'What the hell did she went though to give that response?" Touma and Chihiro both thought about what kind of experience would make someone like Yukako could give a response like that. Kirito softly laughed. "You forget about your Union Monster, didn't you." he asked as Yukiko gulped. "Oh God, you actually forgot about, what are you, stupid." he asked as his friend snickered and giggled. Yukiko inhaled harshly. "Kaado ichi Settai! Turn End! Now, let's see if you can get out of this." Kirito asked mockingly as the spell/trap appeared. 'Okay, got to figure out how to get out of this mess.` Yukiko thought as she placed her hands on the top of her deck. "Boku no Turn...DRAW!" she yelled as she drew her card. 'Nice!' she thought. "Since I control no Monsters, I can Special Summon this guy! Network HERO Swift Blast Tokushu Shoukan!" she yelled as she slammed the card on her disk. A portal opened up and from the portal, a blue streak bursted out. It skidded to a stop in front of Yukiko and took form. It was a young adult male with spiky sleek blue hair and light green eyes. He was wearing a brown scarf around his neck, a blue jacket over a white shirt, black jeans and red and white boots. He smirked before giving a peace sign.

[THEME CHANGE: A FRAGMENT IN THE MULTIVERSE (Gradient Summoning Theme #1)]
Kirito laughed. "That's your big counterplay?" he asked as Yukiko's left palm started to glow. "Nope, This is!" she yelled as she threw her hand upwards as a red cybernetic card appeared in her hand. "Skill Hatsudo! Metaverse Frontiers!" she yelled as two portals appeared from nowhere. Kirito stepped back. "What the...?!" he yelled. "When I have 1000 or less LP, I can Special Summon up to 3 "Network HEROes" monsters from my GY, then, I can add a "Network HERO" Synthesis from my deck to my hand!" Red Beetle fell from one portal, the goo having separating from her. From the other portal, Cyber Spider exited from the other. A card slidded out Yukiko's deck and she grabbed it. "Next, Network HERO Portal Jumper Shokan!" she yelled as she slammed the card on the disk. A portal opened up and a figure leapt out. She was a young girl at least the same age of Yukiko with long dark brown hair and light green eyes, wearing a red and white jacket over a black shirt, black fingerless gloves, black jeans and brown boots. She snapped her fingers as the portal closed behind her before striking a pose.

"Synthesis?" Touma wondered out-loud. Yukiko smirked. "Hey, Touma, Ready to see a Gradient Summon in action!" she yelled, causing the pink-haired boy look up in interest. Yukiko clutched her fist and Portal Jumper gave a small whistle as the other three monsters started to glow a colour matching their respective colour (Red Beetle = Red, Cyber Spider = Yellow, Swift Blast = Green). "Boku no, Red Beetle, Cyber Spider, Swift Blast, to Reberu Yon Portal Jumper de Setsuzoku (I connect Red Beetle, Cyber Spider, Swift and Level 4 Portal Jumper)!" The three glowing monsters transformed into three orbs of light that circled Portal Jumper who smirked as her body started to glow a pale red colour. "Korera no monsutā de, watashi wa tagen uchū no eniguma kōdo no rokku o kaijo shimasu (With these monsters, I unlock the Enigma Code of The Multiverse)!" Yukako declared as the three orbs were absorbed into Portal Jumper who's whole form spiralled into a tornado of fire that shoot into the sky. "Vibrant Colours burst out into a spiral of crimson flames, now bare this torch, Vesper of Flaming Red! Kōbai Shokan (Gradient Summon)!" A hand stuck out of the tornado before swiping to the right as the fire spiralled away and a figure landed on the field. She resembled Portal Jumper but she seemed older. Her hair was a dark red colour with a light orange frontal fringe, her jacket was a dark red and orange colour as opposed to red and white, her gloves now has red lining on them, red boots with black laces and her eyes has shifted to a light blue colour. "Shinwa-sei Hachi (Affinity 8), Let's Light Em Up!" The new monsters heaved some thing from a fireball, a sword with a red hilt and a orange blade. "Network HERO Red Burner!" Red Burner placed the sword over her shoulders and gave a peace sign, a explosion of fire going off behind her and four cyan crystals orbiting her in a circular motion.

Touma breathed softly. "Woah..." he muttered as Chihiro gave an impressed look on her face. "That is a pretty cool monster." She said as Kirito gulped. "D-Doesn't matter, It weaker then Zelgigus." He inserted. "Yeah, Network HERO Portal Jumper no Kouka Hatsudo. Since she was used as Material for The Gradient Summon of a "Network HERO" monster, I can increase the attack of 1 "Network HERO" Gradient Monster by 200 for every Material attached to it!" Yukiko answered. "Wait, What?!" Kirito yelled as Red Burner started to glow a light red aura as she smirked.
[Network HERO Red Burner ATK:2500 + 200 X 4 = 3300]
Kirito gulped hard as he looked at the attack difference of the two monsters. "Battle, Network HERO Red Burner, attack Abyss Daemon Kraken, Zelgigus!" Yukiko declared as Network HERO Red Burner nodded and leapt forwards, her sword igniting into spiralling red and orange flames. Zelgigus leapt in and his lance clashed with the sword. The two monsters parried each blow the other threw at each other, neither seemed to land a solid hit on each other. "I'll still have live points after this battle phase." Kirito inserted. Yukiko just folded her arms. "Network HERO Red Burner no Kouka Hatsudo! Since she's battling a Special Summoned Monster, She gains ATK equal to half that monster's original ATK!" She yelled as Kirito gulped again. "Red Branding!" Yukiko yelled, pointing at Zelgigus. Red Burner gave a smirk as her sword started to glow red hot before the blade ignited into a wildfire of red and orange flames that burnt though Zelgigus' weapon.
[Network HERO Red Burner ATK:3300 + 1500 = 4800]
Kirito chucked. "Still not enough." he muttered. Yukiko gave a smirk. "Trap Hatsudo! Metaverse Luck!" she yelled as her set card flipped up. "When a "Network HERO" Gradient Monster I control battles a Special Summoned Monster, I can double that monster's ATK until the end phase!" Yukiko yelled. Kirito freaked out. "D-Doubled?!" he stuttered, his group just looking on in abstract horror while Touma and Chihiro smirked. Red Burner's eyes started to glow a bright blue colour as her ATK rose to new heights.

"Burning Red Atomic Slash!" Red Burner gave a yell as she charged forwards and slashed forwards. Zelgigus rose it's fists in front of it's face but the blade slashed though them before Zelgigus' whole form exploded. Kirito raised his arms in front of his face as the smoke flushed over. As the smoke cleared, Kirito was kneeling on his left knee, His LP being completely wiped clean by the attack.

Yukiko threw her fist in the air. "Yatta!" she yelled in trimph. Kirito hung his head in denial and confusion. "H-how did I lose to HER?" he muttered to himself as his gang just looked in disbelief. "N-No Way!" they yelled. Chihiro smirked. "Talk about a sour loser." she muttered to herself as Kirito growled before running off from the scene, his gang ran off after him. Touma walked over. "Good Job, Yukiko." he said as Yukiko rubbed her head sheepishly. "Thanks." she said as Chihiro walked over, Touma eyeing her suspiciously. "Where did you learn to duel from?" the pinkette asked as Yukiko gave a breath. "My older brother taught me." she said as Chihiro raised a eyebrow in surprise. "Interesting..." she mutter to herself. Unknown to the trio, someone was standing on the rooftop of a nearby building, observing the duel. His face obscured by the ragged cloak he was wearing. He simply glanced at Yukiko and muttered under his breath a single sentence. "She could be an issue."

*8 Minute Intro* (A Duel Monsters card is seen spinning from side to side, the card being Yukiko's Network HERO Red Burner. We then cut to Yukako standing on a hill looking into the clear night sky.)
A flash of light sprouting into bloom and the journey's star start to form a new path! (Yukiko is then seen duelling someone, the other player raises a card over his head and a sickly green glow radiates from the card, causing Yukiko raises her arm over her face trying to block the glow.)
Raindrops dance and Lady Hope's Luck shifts the destiny scales, So brightens up a new light as you dawn a new echo, the choir of light, No light No Bloom. (Yukiko is then seen standing a black void as a silhouette appears beside her, she hold her hand out and the silhouette did the same, the two slowly merging into one.)
And I'll not be left behind as I shine ahead, I shine a path to break away. I'll brighten a light as an imagination flash as a star brighten. (Yukiko is then pulled back into reality by the roar of a strange creature, she then looks at the creature in front of her with a determined look on her face.)
We are Dreamers! We won't give in until we win this war! This road's no match! We can't hold back! We can only hope for the stars! (Chihiro and Touma are seen sitting on a hill together, not really talking to each other. Yukiko sits in-between them and they both smile slightly.)
To surpass the challenges that takes to win so let's shine a path So flash your light and let the duel begin! (The stars above them start to trinkle as they form the constellation " Sagittarius".)

Professor Giggles: Wait, Don't stop the chapter, we still have to explain the new Summoning Method in hand!
(The professor opened the laptop and the screen started to spark to life and the layout of Gradient Monsters as well as an other monster card with the sub-type being known as "Synthesis")
Professor Giggles: When the chaotic energy of Xyz combines with high speed power of Synchro, a new Summoning Method is created, Gradient Summoning! It resides in the Extra Deck, just like all the others. *Points at the Card on the right* This is a Synthesis Monster, a monster that can be used as Material for this new Possibility, The Gradient Summon! This dual-coloured card of endless possibilities is the newest Summoning Method created and they can be summoned by using 1 Synthesis Monster and any number of monsters as Material. It seems that Gradient Summoning can be augmented with the energy of the other Summoning Methods, but, I'll save the results for a later date, don't want to spoil anything. That's all for now.
